<p>Accusing BJP of manipulating EVMs during polls, Uddhav Thackeray said everyone knows what Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj did when betrayed and attacked from the back.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Sharad Pawar said no NCP leader or worker is in favour of an NCP-BJP government and added that Ajit Pawar's decision was against the party line.&nbsp;</p>

<p>''Congress, Shiv Sena and NCP leaders came together to form the government. We had the numbers. We had our official numbers- 44, 56 and 54 MLAs with us who had supported the government. Several independent were also with us and we had numbers around 170,'' Pawar added.</p>

<p>Reminding his party MLAs of anti-defection law, Pawar said there was a possibility of MLAs losing their assembly membership.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Three MLAs who were present during the oath-taking ceremony said were unknowingly taken to the oath ceremony pledged their support to NCP.</p>

<p>The Common Minimum Programme (CMP) between Congress and NCP has been sealed and will be discussed with the Shiv Sena in Mumbai on Friday, sources added.<br />
Currently, Congress and NCP, sources said, are discussing the possible names to be inducted in ministerial berths.</p>

<p>The name of the alliance is expected to be finalised in today's meeting between Congress and NCP leaders. The convener of the alliance is also slated to be finalised by Friday in Mumbai, they added.</p>

<p>Earlier today, the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting was held at party interim president Sonia Gandhi's 10 Janpath residence. Several senior leaders including Malikarjun Kharge, Ahmed Patel, AK Antony and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury had attended the meeting.</p>

<p>"We have apprised the CWC members of the latest political situation in Maharashtra. Today, Congress-NCP discussion will continue. I think, tomorrow, we will probably have a decision in Mumbai," Congress leader KC Venugopal told reporters after the CWC meet.</p>

<p>On Wednesday, Congress leaders including Ahmed Patel, Jairam Ramesh and Mallikarjun Kharge had briefed party interim president Sonia Gandhi about their meeting with NCP chief Sharad Pawar. After briefing Gandhi, the three Congress leaders again returned to Pawar's residence.</p>

<p>Sources said that during the course of Wednesday's meetings, the Congress and NCP leaders also held talks with Shiv Sena leadership over the phone and got a positive response.</p>

<p>They also added that as part of the coalition government, a sharing formula of 2.5 years each between the Shiv Sena and NCP for the chief minister seat has been approved while Congress will be given the deputy chief minister's seat.</p>

<p>Maharashtra came under President's Rule on November 12 after all the parties failed to form a government in the state. The BJP, which emerged as the single largest party, could not stake claim to form a government as its ally Shiv Sena remained firm on rotating the Chief Minister's post and equal sharing of Cabinet berths.</p>

<p>Shiv Sena parted its ways with BJP to explore ways to form a government. It, however, failed to prove the support of the required number of MLAs in the time given by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari.</p>

<p>BJP president and Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday slammed the opposition parties, saying their effort to raise a ruckus over the imposition of President's Rule in Maharashtra was 'a meaningless exercise to gain public sympathy' and anyone can still approach the Governor if they have a majority to form the government.</p>

<p>Speaking to Smita Prakash, Editor, Asian News International in an exclusive interview, Shah also rejected the accusations that the BJP has betrayed the Shiv Sena.</p>

<p>"We were ready to form the government with the Shiv Sena. But there were certain things of Shiv Sena we could not have agreed," he said.</p>

<p>This is Shah's first interview since Maharashtra's results were out on October 24. The subsequent political uncertainty over the government formation snowballed into a major crisis, which ultimately resulted in the imposition of President's Rule in the state.</p>

<p>Shah said that during the campaign for Maharashtra assembly polls, the BJP leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Devendra Fadnavis will continue to be the Chief Minister if BJP-Shiv Sena alliance is elected back to power.</p>

<p>"Nobody contradicted it. Now some mew conditions have come up. We have reservations on this and the party will take a decision at an appropriate time," he said.</p>

<p>"I only want to say that the ruckus over the President's Rule is a meaningless exercise to gain public sympathy and nothing else," he said.</p>

<p>Shah also took a dig at the Congress over its allegations that the President's Rule was imposed in a hurry and its ally NCP was not given enough time to show the majority.</p>

<p>"Probably they do not ask their allies," he said.</p>

<p>Shah said that between 11.30 am and 12 noon on Tuesday, the NCP expressed its inability to form the government by writing a letter to Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari that they cannot form government till the time given of 8.30 pm.</p>

<p>"After that, there was no point of the President waiting till 8.30 pm," he said.</p>

<p>Asked if more time was given for the government formation in Goa and Arunachal Pradesh, he said nowhere more time was given.</p>

<p>He said political parties in Maharashtra had eighteen days after the declaration of results to show that they have a majority.</p>

<p>"After the assembly notification, the Governor waited for 18 days," he said, adding that no party or parties came forward to stake the claim to form the government.</p>

<p>"Any party could have approached the Governor. The time to give invitation came after the term of assembly ended (on November 9)," he said.</p>

<p>He said the Governor has to take action after the term of assembly ends and he asked different parties.</p>

<p>"Once assembly is notified, any party or alliance can go to the Governor. What the Governor could have done. Everyone has been given time," he said.</p>

<p>Spokesperson, Ministry of Home Affairs stated that the Maharashtra Governor was of the view that the imposition of President's Rule was better in a situation where none of the political parties are been able to form the government.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The NCP has 54 MLAs while its alliance partner Congress has 44. If Shiv Sena, which had 56 legislators, gets the support of NCP and Congress, it will easily cross the majority mark of 145 in the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly.&nbsp;</p>

<p>NCP leaders, today evening, met with senior Congress leaders in Mumbai. A decision on government formation is likely after the meeting concludes, Nationalist Congress Party leader Nawab Malik said.&nbsp;</p>
