"What's the issue?" Kittling replies as the police officer fails to give any reason for the sudden interrogation. After trying to grab Kittling's wrist forcefully,&nbsp;a tussle ensues between the duo.&nbsp;

“Shots fired. Shots fired,” Anderson says into his radio after the tussle. He walks back to his SUV, with Kittling motionless on the ground. “Shots fired. One subject down. Gunshot wound to the head. I’m bleeding from my head.”

According to the official version released by the sheriff's office, the incident transpired in a residential area of Alexandria around 1.20 pm on November 6.&nbsp;

“During the course of the traffic stop, a physical confrontation occurred between the Deputy and Kittling during which Kittling gained control of the Deputy’s Taser,” read the report.

“As the physical struggle ensued, the Deputy discharged his duty weapon striking Kittling. Kittling was transported to a local hospital for treatment, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries,” it added.&nbsp;

A woman from Louisiana, US, who was carrying a skull-less foetus had to travel about 1,400 miles (2,253 kilometres) to New York City to get an abortion after her local hospital refused to terminate her pregnancy—a fallout of the overturn of Roe v. Wade.

Speaking to Guardian, Nancy Davis, 36, said that she had her pregnancy terminated on September 1.

Davis had been struggling to get an abortion ever since doctors said that her foetus won’t survive after birth.

Her home state Louisiana had made it illegal to get an abortion, with a few exceptions, after the Supreme Court restricted access to the medical procedure.

It was in July, that Davis found that she was about 10 weeks pregnant and that the foetus was missing the top of its skull, a rare fatal condition called acrania, which kills babies shortly after birth.

The local hospital where Davis was getting treated refused to terminate her pregnancy as acrania was not listed on Louisiana’s list of ailments requiring an exception for abortion.

They feared that they could be exposed to prison time, fines and forfeiture of their licenses to practice if they performed the procedure.

According to NBC News, Emily and Jennie Parker were informed by the school during a meeting with the school’s director and a pastor on Saturday that since their marriage didn’t follow the teachings of the Bible Baptist Academy in DeQuincy, they needed to find another school for their daughter, Zoey

“Because of our lifestyle choices, we wouldn’t be a good fit for the school,” Jennie Parker, 31, told NBC on Wednesday.

Emily, 28, added that during the conference, she and her wife were told that as a religious-based school, it would teach students that marriage can happen only between a man and a woman.

Emily is Zoey’s biological aunt. The couple adopted the 5-year-old on August 3 after the girl’s 22-year-old father died following an accident at his job in September 2020.

“She lost her father, she lost her mother and now she’s losing her school which she loves very much,” Jennie told KPLC, a local news affiliate.

In a statement, the school tried to defend its decision to expel Zoey saying, “There are times where our commitment to upholding our Christian values will not line up with the values of other people. This should not be interpreted that we have any hatred or malice toward them.”

However, Emily and Jennie Parker are receiving massive support from the community. They have received several offers from other local Christian schools for Zoey to start her kindergarten year.

“It’s a blessing in disguise. We have an opportunity to bring her to a school which is a little closer and it’s a new opportunity for her to make new friends,” Jennie was quoted as saying.

A court in Louisiana has blocked the enforcement of efforts to ban abortion at any stages of a pregnancy in the state. The so-called trigger law snapped into place right after last Friday's Supreme Court ruling striking down Roe v. Wade, the landmark opinion that had kept abortion legal in the United States.

In the Roe v Wade judgement of 1973, the Supreme Court ruled that the access to abortion is a women’s constitutional right. Later, in 1992, the Planned Parenthood v Casey case guaranteed the right to abortion for any woman till the fetus is ‘viable outside the womb’ of the woman.

However, according to a leaked report accessed by Politico, the Supreme Court is likely to strike down the right to abortion in the United States by overturning the Roe v Wade judgement.

Following the report, Republicans in a number of states have floored bills that launch a clear attack on abortion laws but until the official overturn, none of them can be officially implemented.

The bill, which was brought forward by Danny McCormick in Louisiana, was cleared in the House Appropriations Committee on a 7-2 vote. But McCormick believes that the bill should move forward irrespective of when the Supreme Court decides to overturn the Roe v Wade judgement.

"We can't wait on the Supreme Court," said McCormick according to The Guardian.

Louisiana lawmakers advance bill classifying abortion as 'crime of murder'

There's a famous saying that age is just a number, not a state of mind or a reason for any type of particular behaviour. It fits perfectly on 105-year-old Julia Hawkins of Louisiana, who <a href="https://nsga.com/hurricane-hawkins-sets-first-ever-105-female-track-record/">set a new world record</a> for sprinting 100m in the 105+ age category, where she recorded a time of 1:02:95. But that was&nbsp;not it, she wanted to go faster.&nbsp;

An alligator "weighing a startling 504 pounds" was caught on Monday in a trap set by two Louisiana Department of Wildlife licensed nuisance hunters, according to a statement Monday from St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office.

"Once the alligator was searched, it was discovered to have what appears to be human remains inside its stomach," the sheriff's office said. "Investigators will work with the St. Tammany Parish Coroner's Office to verify those remains belong to Timothy Satterlee."

Wildlife agents were scouring the area in air boats on Saturday when a drone they had deployed spotted a "rather large" alligator not far from the Satterlee's home, said Capt. Lance Vitter, a spokesperson for the sheriff's office.

The Satterlee's home is not far from an area frequented by tourists who visit for the "swamp tours" promising sightings of alligators and other wildlife, Vitter said. Alligators do not usually attack humans unless the food they have stashed has been displaced, as can occur during major storms, he said.

Satterlee's wife saw a large alligator attack her husband after he had gone outside their raised home to check on the contents of their ground-level shed. The alligator had him in a "death roll" and had ripped off one of his arms, Vitter said, recounting the wife's statement to authorities. The wife, 68, intervened and the alligator disappeared into the water.

Bleeding badly and starting to black out, the husband told her to get in their small boat and seek help, Vitter said. Vitter added that it would have been difficult for the wife to get her husband into the boat without his help and without it tipping over. She left him on their stairs.

The wife found help about one mile away and returned only to find her husband was no longer on the stairs, Vitter said. "She just never thought in her wildest nightmares that she would get back and he'd be gone."

Greene, of West Monroe, Louisiana, led police on a high-speed chase after midnight of May 10, 2019, and crashed his car before being taken into custody, police said. He died in an ambulance on the way to a hospital.

An autopsy showed that Greene had alcohol and cocaine in his system, suffered multiple injuries from the crash, as well as injuries from a physical struggle. The manner of death was not listed.

Earlier this week, the case quickly became another national touchstone of alleged police abuse after the unauthorised release of police video by the Associated Press.

In response to that release, Colonel Lamar Davis, the superintendent of the Louisiana State Police held a late night press conference and said the department is releasing all the police bodycam video to add context to what has already been public.

Of the troopers involved, DaKota DeMoss was notified that the department intends to fire him and remains on leave pending another excessive use of force case, police said.

Master Trooper Chris Hollingsworth was also notified of the department's intent to dismiss him, but died hours later in a fatal car crash in 2020, police said.

Another trooper, Kory York, served a 50-hour suspension and is back on active duty.

The case is also the subject of a federal civil rights investigation.
