<p>Manjhi said only three people are allowed to meet the RJD supremo on Saturdays. "Today, his younger son Tejashwi Yadav and our alliance partners Upendra Kushwaha of RLSP and Mukesh Sahni of Vikasshil Insan Party (VIP) met him. Next week it is going to be me", he said.</p>

<p>Responding to queries on Patel's seat-sharing stance, Manjhi said, "He may have vented his anxieties resulting from unsubstantiated media reports. We enjoy the support of 90 per cent of Dalits in the state. This is a fact which the RJD leadership is aware of."</p>

<p>It was due to HAM's support that the RJD won the Jehanabad assembly by-poll and the Araria Lok Sahba seat in March by a good margin, even though a sizeable number of Yadavs, its traditional supporters, had gravitated to the BJP, Manjhi, a former chief minister, claimed.</p>

<p>The opposition alliance is now reportedly exploring the possibility of an electoral understanding with the Left parties in order to take on the NDA which has been bolstered by <a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/ahead-of-lok-sabha-polls-nitish-holds-jdu-meeting-in-patna-187291">Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's</a> return to the grouping last year.</p>

<p>The court also directed Prasad to be produced through video conference on November 19 in the cases filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the ED.</p>

<p>The court granted bail to Rabri and Tejashwi Yadav in the CBI case on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh and a surety of a like amount.</p>

<p>However, the regular bail was not granted to the accused in the ED case after the agency sought time to file a reply to the bail applications.</p>

<p>The court had earlier granted interim bail to the accused, except Prasad, on August 31 till today in the case filed by the CBI after the agency had sought time to file a reply today.</p>

<p>Earlier, the court had summoned and asked Prasad's family and all others involved to appear before it.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The case is related to alleged irregularities in granting the operational contract of two IRCTC hotels to a private firm.</p>

<p>Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Prasad did not appear before the court on Friday as he is imprisoned in a Jharkhand jail on another charge.</p>

<p>The CBI, which had on April 16 filed the charge sheet in the case, had said there was enough evidence against Prasad, Rabri, Tejashwi and others.</p>

<p>Earlier, the CBI had informed the court that sanction has been procured from authorities concerned to prosecute Additional Member of Railway Board B K Agarwal, who was then the group general manager of the IRCTC.</p>

<p>Besides Lalu Prasad and his family members, former Union minister Prem Chand Gupta and his wife Sarla Gupta and Agarwal, then managing director of IRCTC P K Goyal and then IRCTC director Rakesh Saxena were also named in the charge sheet.</p>

<p>The other names in the charge sheet include then group general managers of IRCTC V K Asthana and R K Goyal, and Vijay Kochhar, Vinay Kochhar, both directors of Sujata Hotels and owners of Chanakya Hotel.</p>

<p>Delight Marketing Company, now known as Lara Projects, and Sujata Hotels Private Limited have also been named as accused companies in the charge sheet.</p>

<p>The CBI had registered a case in July last year and carried out searches at 12 locations in Patna, Ranchi, Bhubaneswar and Gurgaon in connection with the case.</p>

<p>The charges in the case include criminal conspiracy (120-B), cheating (420) under IPC and corruption, the central probe agency had said.</p>

IRCTC scam: Bail granted to Lalu's wife Rabri Devi, son Tejashwi Yadav

<p>The Jharkhand High Court&nbsp;on Friday granted six weeks provisional bail to former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav.</p>

<p>The court granted bail on medical grounds.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Lalu was granted a five-day parole on Wednesday to attend son Tej Pratap Yadav's wedding. However, the parole was delayed, prompting an RJD MLA to accuse Jharkhand government of intentionally delaying.</p>

<p>&nbsp;"Till now, we have no information about his parole. As per the jail guidelines, it is not allowed to exit from the jail after 6 in the evening. So, I think (Jharkhand) government and administration have intentionally delayed his parole," RJD MLA Shakti Singh Yadav told.</p>

<p>Lalu, who has been convicted in three fodder scam cases by a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Ranchi since December last year, is undergoing treatment at Rajendra Institute Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi.</p>

<p>The RJD chief, who has been serving a jail term in Birsa Munda central jail, was admitted to AIIMS on March 29 for specialised treatment.</p>

<p>On April 30, the AIIMS later referred Lalu to RIMS.</p>

<p>Lalu`s elder son Tej Pratap will get married to Aishwarya Rai, eldest daughter of RJD leader Chandrika Prasad Rai, on May 12 in Patna.</p>

<p>Tej Pratap Yadav got engaged to Aishwarya at a posh hotel in Patna on April 18.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLA on Wednesday said Lalu Prasad Yadav`s parole has been intentionally delayed by Jharkhand government.</p>

<p>In July 2017, the CBI registered a corruption case against Lalu, Rabri, Tejashwi and others in the case.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Former chief minister of Bihar and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad was on Monday held guilty in the fourth fodder scam case that also involves 30 others.</p>

<p>A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court here in its judgment said the RJD chief was guilty of fraudulently withdrawing Rs. 3.13 crore from Dumka Treasury between December 1995 and January 1996, when he was the chief minister of undivided Bihar.</p>

<p>Former chief minister Jagannath Mishra from the Bhartiya Jan Congress (Rashtriya) was acquitted by the court in the case. At least 14 others were also convicted.</p>

<p>Lalu, who has been admitted to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) after falling sick in the jail on Saturday, was not present for the hearing.</p>

<p>Lalu Prasad is already serving a jail term of 13.5 years in three fodder cases and has been lodged in the Birsa Munda jail.&nbsp;</p>

<p>&ldquo;Koi comment nahi karna hai (I do not want to make any comment),&rdquo; Lalu Prasad said when asked for a reaction by reporters post the verdict.</p>

<p>His wife, Rabri Devi said: &quot;We will follow Court&#39;s order &amp; won&#39;t leave Bihar &amp; go anywhere else however we are also going to appeal in the Court. He wasn&#39;t keeping well. He shouldn&#39;t have been called before Court in such condition.&quot;</p>

'We will appeal court verdict,' Lalu Prasad's wife Rabri Devi

<p>A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Ranchi will today pronounce the verdict in the fourth fodder scam in which Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav is an accused.</p>

<p>Earlier March 15 had been fixed for the verdict. A special CBI court in Ranchi heard the case the same day and reserved the order.</p>

<p>On March 16, accepting Lalu Prasad&#39;s plea, Ranchi&#39;s CBI Special Court issued summons to then Accountant General PK Mukhopadhyay and two other officers in the case.</p>

<p>The case involves the fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 3.13 crore from December 1995 to January 1996 from the Dumka treasury.</p>

<p>Lalu, who is accused in a total of six fodder scam cases, has been found guilty in three&nbsp;cases so far.<br />
&nbsp;<br />
The fodder scam was first unearthed in the 1990&#39;s by the office of the Comptroller and Auditor General when it noticed that invoices from the Bihar treasury would always come in late.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The RJD chief is currently serving a 3.5-year jail term in Ranchi&#39;s Birsa Munda jail after being found guilty (in a fodder scam case) on December 23, 2017.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He was pronounced guilty in the third fodder scam on January 24.<br />
&nbsp;<br />
An earlier conviction in 2013 for five years had made him ineligible to stand for elections for six years.&nbsp;</p>

The reports added that the property was purchased in 2007 -- in the name of AB Exports -- when Lalu Prasad was railway minister in the UPA government.</p>

<p>The I-T department had last year attached the property, ninety-eight per cent of the shareholding of which is with Tejashwi and the remaining 2% with Chanda, the reports said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The reports quote&nbsp;the I-T department as saying the directors of the shell company transferred all the rights and shareholding of the company to Tejashwi Yadav in 2010-11, soon after Lalu demitted office, in exchange for Rs 4 lakh.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The dossier comprises witness statements after interrogating half a dozen accused. The income tax department is planning to produce the statements in court as evidence that the owners of the property were Lalu&#39;s children.</p>

<p>The reports quote&nbsp;a senior I-T official as saying that from the statements it is evident that the witnesses were working as intermediaries to convert unaccounted cash into white money in the guise of unsecured loans.<br />

Lalu Prasad sentenced to 3.5 years in jail in fodder scam

<p>The fodder scam was first sniffed out in 1985 by the office of the Comptroller and Auditor General after it noticed that monthly accounts submissions from the Bihar treasury were always delayed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Lalu and others had been embezzling government funds by producing fake bills for payments that were never made.</p>

<p>The trial wrapped up on December 13 last year and Lalu was found guilty on December 23.&nbsp;</p>

<p>News reports quoted Lalu&#39;s lawyers as saying the former Bihar chief minister is 70 years old, unwell, and that they would ask for the minimum sentence.&nbsp;</p>
