Former Bihar chief minister Jagannath Mishra, who was also a co-accused, has been acquitted along with seven others.&nbsp;

The quantum of sentence for the guilty will be pronounced on January 3.

After the verdict, Lalu Prasad tweeted that &quot;truth had been made to appear as a lie.&quot;

&nbsp;&quot;Truth can be made to appear as a lie, as ambiguous or a half lie by concerted onslaught of bias driven propaganda. But blurred layer of bias and hatred will still be removed, come what may! In end Truth will win,&quot; the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)&nbsp; chief wrote on Twitter.

&nbsp;&quot;A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes. ....But still prevails...In the end though,&quot; he added.

His son Tejashwi said the verdict was a conspiracy by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to defame Lalu Prasad. He said they would challenge the verdict in the high court.

&nbsp;&quot;We will challenge the verdict in the High Court. The process of&nbsp;<a href="https://www.aninews.in/search?query=bail">bail</a>&nbsp;will take place once the High Court is opened. The case relates to the alleged fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 95 lakh from the Deoghar treasury between 1991 and 1994 when&nbsp;Lalu was chief minister of Bihar. &nbsp;The CBI has accused Lalu of being aware of the scam and keeping the file of inquiry against the accused pending for 16 months.

There were 34 accused in the case, out of which 11 died during the course of the trial and one turned CBI approver and admitted the crime.

Overall, in the fodder scam cases, more than Rs 900 crores was reportedly syphoned off from the state exchequer over a period of two decades under the pretext of medicines and fodder for cattle.

Lalu Prasad was convicted and sentenced to five years of imprisonment in one of the five fodder scam cases against him. The former Bihar chief minister faces four other fodder scam cases.

The scam came to light in 1996. The CBI filed chargesheets against Prasad and 55 other co-accused in 1997.

The RJD&nbsp;chief had been convicted in one of the fodder scam cases in 2013 on charges of embezzling Rs 37 crores. He was disqualified from the Lok Sabha and from contesting elections after that verdict.

The case against Lalu was revived after the Supreme Court in May ruled that the RJD leader will stand separate trial in all four fodder scam cases, setting aside the Jharkhand High Court order which had dropped the charges of criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust and prevention of corruption against him on the grounds that a person convicted in one case could not be tried in similar cases.

The RJD chief has alleged that he is innocent and that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) governments since the time of Atal Bihari Vajpayee have been harassing him and his family by misusing the CBI for the past 25 years.

Soon after the verdict was declared, RJD leader Manoj Jha lashed out claiming that &quot;legally amicable evidence provided was set aside&quot;.&nbsp;

Minister of Health and Family Welfare&nbsp;JP Nadda&nbsp;blamed Lalu Prasad for his unnecessary reason for politicising the verdict - following the RJD chief&#39;s tweet&nbsp;on how&nbsp;&quot;truth had been made to appear as a lie.&quot;

Nadda said, &quot;Lalu Prasad Yadav is even now politicising the issue instead of accepting the verdict, just to deviate he is levelling allegations of conspiracy on BJP.&nbsp;The alliance between Congress and Lalu Yadav&#39;s party is an alliance of corruption, connivance and cheating the people of India, it is clear from the verdict of the court.&quot;

CBI court to pronounce verdict in fodder scam case against Lalu Prasad on Saturday

Enforcement Directorate summons Tejashwi Yadav on November 13

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has summoned Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and son and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav in connection with the ongoing Railway hotel tender case.

The CBI has summoned Lalu on September 11, while son Tejashwi has to be present before the court on September 12.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), earlier on July 5, had registered a case against the then railway minister Lalu Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, his son Tejashwi Yadav, Sarla Gupta, wife of Prem Chand Gupta, Vijay Kochar and Vinay Kochar, both directors of Messer`s Sujata Hotel Private Limited, Messer`s Delight Marketing Private Limited, P.K. Goel, the then Managing Directors, IRCTC and unknown others.

They were booked under Section 120 B read with Section 420 of IPC and Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)d prevention of corruption act 1988 in connection with the case.

Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar resigns, PM Modi congratulates him

RJD chief and former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and his wife Rabri Devi will no more be able to drive straight to their aircraft at Patna airport as the central government has withdrawn tarmac access for their vehicle, according to officials.

&quot;Previous order (allowing access) was for Patna airport only, which has been withdrawn,&quot; an official at the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) told PTI on the condition of anonymity.

The move comes after the Ministry of Civil Aviation wrote a letter to the BCAS informing that it had decided to revoke permission granted in 2009 allowing Lalu Yadav and his wife&#39;s vehicle to drive up to the tarmac.

&quot;It has now been decided that the permission accorded to Shri Lalu Prasad Yadav and Smt Rabri Devi vide the AVSEC order No 13/2009 dated 1/08/2009 maybe withdrawn forthwith,&quot; says the letter dated July 21.

The letter asks BCAS to take &quot;immediate action to issue necessary instructions&quot; to ensure implementation of the ministry&#39;s decision.&nbsp;

The CBI alleges Lalu had accepted a bribe in return for an IRCTC contract that he awarded to a hotel company. Lalu was railway minister at the time.&nbsp;

India&#39;s Income Tax department has charged family members of RJD chief Lalu Prasad&#39;s wife, including his wife, son and daughters for holding benami assets and for tax evasion. 
 
The former Bihar chief minister&#39;s family have been charged under the Benami Transactions Act in connection with its probe into&nbsp;land deals worth Rs 1000 crores,&nbsp;&nbsp;PTI reported.

Tax department officials had said Lalu Prasad&#39;s kin held some of the properties under their scanner in a &quot;benami&quot; way.&nbsp;A benami transaction is one in which the real beneficiary is not the one in whose name the property has been purchased.&nbsp;

The Income Tax (I-T) Department has served notices of attachment of assets to Lalu&#39;s daughter Misa Bharti and her husband Shailesh Kumar, his wife and former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi, son and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav and daughters Chanda and Ragini Yadav.

The I-T department had carried out country-wide searches in this case last month, PTI reported.

The department has attached immovable assets such as land, plots and buildings in Delhi and Patna which bear a &quot;deed&quot; value of Rs 9.32 crore but their current market value has been estimated as Rs 170-180 crore by the taxman.

Facing a barrage of allegations of anonymity property and later being raided by the Income Tax Department, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav lashed out at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Central Government asserting that the saffron party and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) are holding grudges against him and his party for which they would soon repay.

&quot;BJP, RSS people should listen, and know that Lalu Yadav will drag you off your seat in Delhi, whatever be my situation. BJP and RSS are holding grudges against me for which they would pay. They are doing this to project a bad image of me and my party,&quot; Yadav told ANI.

Further lashing out at the Modi government, Yadav said a rally will be held to fight against BJP and also to decide future course of action.

&quot;Modi`s government will not be able to complete five years, if they continue with this behaviour. A rally will take place in Gandhi Maidan on August 27, invited leaders of similar ideologies to decide future course of action,&quot; said Yadav.

Earlier this month, raids were conducted by the Income Tax (IT) department at the 22 locations in Delhi, Gurugram on companies and people associated with Lalu.

A team of about 100 tax department officials and police personnel reportedly carried out the raids.

As per sources, the raids were conducted on the charges of illegal (benami) land deals worth Rs. 1,000 crores.

Lalu`s advocate Chitranjan Sinha, however, denied the allegations, saying that the RJD chief doesn`t even have 22 residences in Delhi.

The RJD supremo also refuted the charges asserting that he is not afraid of the onslaught against him.Lalu took to his Twitter page to slam the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), saying the saffron party and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) are trying to pressurise him, knowing that he will expose their &quot;lies, loot and jumlas.&quot;

Challenging the Centre to reveal the names of the 22 places raided, the former Bihar chief minister said, &quot;At least tell which 22 places were raided, you illiterates. Lalu is not scared of BJP-backed media and government puppets.&quot;

Reacting to the RJD chief`s assertion, the Centre said that if Lalu is innocent, then he should prove it to the IT department.

The Supreme Court allowed a CBI plea opposing dropping of charges against him and set aside the Jharkhand High Court order which stayed trial against him and others after their conviction in one of the cases.

The apex court pulled up the CBI for delay in filing the plea against the Jharkhand high court order.

It also observed that the Jkharkhand High Court should have been consistent in its findings and given different views on different sets of accused in a case.

Fodder scam: Setback for Lalu as Supreme Court orders fresh trial

Member of India&rsquo;s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Mohammed Shahabuddin today walked out of prison on bail after 11 years. 
 
The RJD national committee member has been a four-time member of parliament (MP) and was sent to jail in 2005 after several pending cases against him were reopened. 
 
&ldquo;For me, Lalu Prasad is the leader&rdquo;, Shahabuddin said, speaking of the RJD chief after his release. 
 
Shahabuddin left for Siwan, his hometown in the east Indian state of Bihar, after he was let out of the Bhagalpur divisional jail on Wednesday. The Patna high court granted him bail in the&nbsp;murder case of a witness in the 2004 killing of two brothers. 
 
Shahabuddin&rsquo;s wife Heena Sahab lost to Om Prakash Yadav of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in the last parliamentary election from Siwan in 2014. 
 
Speaking of his time in jail, the RJD leader said that he was taking back two cartons full of books. &ldquo;I am an&nbsp;avid reader,&rdquo; he said.
