MS Dhoni is known for his brilliant accuracy while stumping and he is often termed as one of the best wicketkeepers in the world. It is believed that he will keep the stumps in the upcoming cricket World Cup in England and Wales for India as he remains the trusted and efficient wicketkeeper for the team.&nbsp;

However, maybe for the first time, Dhoni committed an unexpected error on the field in an Indian Premier League match in which Chennai registered <a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/ipl-2019-spinners-help-chennai-defend-160-against-punjab-reclaim-top-spot-208398">a 22-run win over Punjab</a>.&nbsp;

The incident happened when Punjab's batsman KL Rahul made the luckiest escape when MS Dhoni failed to run him out.&nbsp;

In the 13th over, Rahul's missed sweep saw Dhoni flick the ball on to the stumps but the bails didn't come off though the LED lights lit up, ensuring the batsman survived despite being short of his crease. &nbsp;

Kolkata defeated Bangalore by five wickets in the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday, owing to Andre Russell's crucial knock.&nbsp;

With this loss, Bangalore have now suffered defeats in their first five matches of this year's edition of the IPL.

Chasing a mammoth score of 206, Kolkata got off to a flying start as openers Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine scored 17 runs off the first over.&nbsp;

But Bangalore staged a comeback as they dismissed Narine (10) in the second over of the innings.

Robin Uthappa joined Lynn in scoring continuous boundaries in the powerplay overs.&nbsp;Kolkata managed to score 59 runs in the first six overs.

The duo kept the pressure going on Bangalore's bowlers and they did not let any bowler settle.&nbsp;

Both these batsmen stitched together a partnership of 65 runs. Pawan Negi provided Bangalore with the key breakthrough as he dismissed Uthappa (33) in the 10th over of the innings.

Lynn (43) was also sent back to the pavilion by Negi in the 12th over of the innings with Kolkata still requiring 98 more runs for the win.&nbsp;

After Lynn's wicket, Bangalore bowlers were able to maintain a tight grip on the match which enabled the asking rate to go higher for the Kolkata batsmen.

Nitish Rana (37) was dismissed by Yuzvendra Chahal. The batsman was looking to go big but he just managed to hand a simple catch to the substitute fielder Heinrich Klaasen.

Kolkata lost wickets at regular wickets and they suffered a big blow as they lost their skipper Dinesh Karthik (19) in the 17th over, as he was dismissed by Navdeep Saini.

53 runs were required off the final three overs by Kolkata and their hopes were stacked with the all-rounder Russell.

Russell, however, did not disappoint. His match-winning knock of 43 runs off just 18 balls helped Kolkata gain a thrilling victory by five wickets with five balls to spare.

Earlier, Virat Kohli's and Ab de Villiers' knocks of 84 and 63, respectively, enabled Bangalore post 205 runs for the loss of three wickets in the allotted twenty overs.

Bangalore&nbsp;got off to a good start in the first six overs as the openers Kohli and Parthiv Patel hammered the visitors with regular boundaries. The team was able to score 53 runs in the powerplay overs.

The duo stitched together a 64-run partnership before Parthiv (25) was dismissed by Rana.&nbsp;

Parthiv failed to read the ball out of Rana's hands and he was adjudged LBW.

De Villiers, who came out to bat at number three, looked to play with an aggressive mindset from the start. Kohli brought up his fifty in the 11th over.&nbsp;

Both de Villiers and Kohli kept the pressure going on Kolkata's bowlers, hammering them all around the park. The duo added 108 runs which saw ABD bringing up his half-century in the 16th over of the innings.

Kohli was finally dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav in the 17th over while he was searching for quick runs.&nbsp;

With this knock of 84, Kohli surpassed Chennai's batsman Suresh Raina to become the highest run-getter in IPL.

De Villiers (63) also perished in the 19th over of the innings as he was dismissed by Narine.&nbsp;

Marcus Stonis (28*) provided Bangalore with some big blows in the final over, allowing the team to post 205 runs for the loss of three wickets in the allotted twenty overs.&nbsp;

IPL 2019: Andre Russell steers Kolkata to 5-wicket victory over Bangalore

Young West Indies pacer Alzzari Joseph made a dream IPL debut by recording the best bowling figures in tournament's history as Mumbai picked up a 40-run win over Hyderabad in a low-scoring game here on Saturday.&nbsp;

Keiron Pollard hammered an unbeaten 46 off 26 balls, helping Mumbai recover to 136 for seven after an ordinary start.&nbsp;

While Pollard was the stand out batsman, another West Indian in Joseph made all the difference in the bowling department, ending with sensational figures of six for 12 in 3.4 overs, bettering the effort of Pakistan pacer Sohail Tanvir, who had taken six for 14 in the inaugural IPL edition in 2008. Hyderabad were all out for 96 in 17.4 overs.&nbsp;

It was the third win for Mumbai Indians in five games while Hyderabad suffered their second loss in five matches.

Considering the stellar form of openers David Warner and Jonny Bairstow, 137 was expected to be a comfortable chase for Hyderabad. But they both were dismissed cheaply and that exposed the middle order which had not been tested much courtesy the devastating run of the openers.&nbsp;

It was the first time this season that Hyderabad lost a wicket in the first six overs.

Young West Indies pacer Joseph bowled a dream first over in the IPL, dismissing Warner in a wicket maiden. In his following over, the 22-year-old got rid of Vijay Shankar to leave Hyderabad at 43 for three in seven overs and spice up the contest.&nbsp;

Leggie Rahul Chahar picked up two important wickets to increase the pressure on the home team which was reduced to 62 for five in the 12th over.

The hosts needed 53 off the last 30 balls and ended up well short of the target with Joseph running through the opposition line-up.

Earlier, it seemed Hyderabad would limit Mumbai to a sub-120 total before Pollard's brute power came to the fore, enabling the visitors to collect 39 crucial runs off the final 12 balls.

Until Pollard cut loose, Hyderabad put up an impressive bowling effort on a slow pitch.&nbsp;

While Hyderabad fielded an unchanged side, Mumbai made two changes in the playing eleven with Ishan Kishan replacing Yuvraj Singh and Joseph coming in for Lasith Malinga, who has gone back to Sri Lanka to play in a domestic event.

It wasn't the best of starts for Mumbai, who lost captain Rohit Sharma (11) and Suryakumar Yadav (7) early to be 30 for two in six overs. Rohit was dropped in the first over by Siddarth Kaul but could not make much use of that life and was holed out at deep midwicket off Mohammad Nabi in the fourth over.

Suryakumar, who had hit a crucial 59 in the previous game against Chennai, too did not last long and was adjudged leg before wicket off Sandeep Sharma.

Stroke play was proving to be difficult on a slow surface and the situation became worse for the visitors when the in-form opener Quinton de Kock (19) departed after trying to increase the scoring rate.&nbsp;

The batsmen especially struggled against Nabi, who ended with envious figures of 13 for one in four overs as Mumbai crawled to 52 for three in 10 overs.

After Nabi completed his full quota of overs, his Afghanistan teammate Rashid Khan made life tough for the opposition batsmen. The Hyderabad pacers -&nbsp;Sharma and Kaul -&nbsp;too were up to the task, using their pace well on a slow wicket to stifle the batsmen.

Mumbai's innings hardly had any flow before Pollard provided the much needed final flourish in the death overs by smashing Kaul for three massive sixes in the 19th over that went for 20 runs.&nbsp;

Bhuvneshwar's final over went for 19 runs with Pollard collecting two fours and a six, giving Mumbai something to bowl at. Poor fielding let Hyderabad down towards the end of the innings.&nbsp;

IPL 2019: Debutant Alzzari Joseph, Keiron Pollard combine to script Mumbai's memorable win

Led by seasoned Harbhajan Singh, Chennai spinners put on a dominating show to help the side reclaim the top position with a 22-run win over Punjab in an <a href="https://www.wionews.com/ipl-2019">Indian Premier League</a> match on Saturday.&nbsp;

Defending 160 for three, Chennai restricted Punjab to 138 for 5 despite half-centuries from K L Rahul (55) and Sarfaraz Khan (67).&nbsp;

The visitors scored at a low pace and required to score 26 off the last over, bowled by IPL debutant Scott Kuggeleijn. The Kiwi paceman had no trouble defending those runs and also dismissed Sarfaraz.&nbsp;

Harbhajan was the best bowler for the hosts with the figures of 4-1-17-2. In a brilliant spell, he bowled a maiden and grabbed two wickets, including that of the 'universal boss' Chris Gayle.&nbsp;

Ravindra Jadeja (4-0-24-0) and Imran Tahir (4-0-20-0) also helped team put the brakes on the rival batsmen. They, along with Harbhajan, conceded only 61 runs in 12 overs even as the required run-rate kept mounting.&nbsp;

Kuggeleijn did not start very well, being hit for a six off his very first ball, but did well to finish with 2 for 37 in his 4 overs.&nbsp;

Harbhajan struck a huge blow to rivals by dismissing the Gayle, having him caught behind by MS Dhoni for 5 in the second over. &nbsp;

Two balls later, he had the stylish Mayank Agarwal, caught by Faf du Plessis near the boundary with the batsman going for a big hit. Harbhajan started off with a double wicket maiden to put Punjab on the back foot early. &nbsp;

In the 13th over, Rahul's missed sweep saw Dhoni flick the ball on to the stumps but the bails didn't come off though the LED lights lit up, ensuring the batsman survived despite being short of his crease.&nbsp;

The century partnership for the third wicket between Rahul and Sarfaraz was a productive one but they consumed a lot of balls and stymied the Punjab chase as the Chennai bowlers kept things tight.&nbsp;

Earlier, du Plessis hit a fine half-century up the order while skipper Dhoni and Ambati Rayudu provided the late flourish to help Chennai post a competitive 160 for three.&nbsp;

Du Plessis made 54 off 38 balls with the help of two fours and four hits over the fence and together with Shane Watson (26) added 56 runs for the first wicket after opting to bat.&nbsp;

But it was some late hitting by Dhoni (37 not out) and Rayudu (21 not out) and their unbeaten 60-run fourth wicket partnership in 30 balls helped the defending champions reach a respectable total.&nbsp;

Thanks to Dhoni and Rayudu, Chennai scored 52 runs in the last five overs after a rather quiet middle period.&nbsp;

Punjab skipper Ravichandran Ashwin was the best bowler for the visitors, picking up three wickets for 23 runs from his four overs. He was on a hat-trick in the 14th over after getting half-centurion Du Plessis and Suresh Raina off successive deliveries.&nbsp;

Watson fell against the run of play, attempting a big shot off Punjab captain Ashwin to be well caught by Sam Curran in the deep.&nbsp;

Raina (17), who came in at No.3, strung together an useful 44-run partnership with Du Plessis, who kept the scoreboard ticking with a mix of attacking shots and judicious running between the wickets. &nbsp;

The partnership was broken when Du Plessis perished while going for a big hit off Ashwin, caught at long-on by David Miller and then a ball later the off-spinner cleaned up Raina as the batsman went for a sweep.

IPL 2019: Spinners help Chennai defend 160 against Punjab; reclaim top spot

England's star all-rounder Ben Stokes says the Bristol bar brawl and the ensuing chain of events, which dogged his career for 15 months, maybe the "best thing that could have happened" to him.

The ugly episode brought about a change in his lifestyle.

Following the incident in September 2017, Stokes was acquitted of affray at Bristol Crown Court in August last year, before the England and Wales Cricket Board's Discipline Commission concluded his 15-month exile after a hearing in December last year.&nbsp;

"It sounds silly but, could Bristol have been the best thing that could have happened to me? Who knows. But maybe in terms of my way of thinking," Stokes said.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Stokes, who is playing for Rajasthan&nbsp;in this year's IPL, said he was determined to win the upcoming World Cup at home.

"I don't want to be remembered as the guy who had a fight in the street. I want to do things on the field to be remembered for. If we win the World Cup, that becomes the first paragraph... Doesn't it?"

"I was that close to my career ending and being thrown away just like that. Maybe that is it," the New Zealand-born cricketer added.

He missed the 2017-18 Ashes series against Australia after being suspended by the ECB pending the police investigation.

"No matter what happens in life with me now, the Bristol thing will always be there.

"It's something I'll always carry with me. It'll always be there. Always."

He said that his off-field activities had changed since his arrest outside a Bristol nightclub, in the wake of England's victory over West Indies in an ODI.

"I don't go out anymore. I mean, I might go out for dinner, but I don't go out-out (for long night and drinks) anymore in England," he said.

"I used to love going out and celebrating with the lads. But we can do that in the hotel and I don't miss it. I don't feel that urge any more. Once you make the transition to not doing it then you don't miss it," Stokes said.&nbsp;

"No matter what happens in life with me now, the Bristol thing will always be there. "It's something I'll always carry with me. It'll always be there. Always." He said that his off-field activities had changed since his arrest outside a Bristol nightclub, in the wake of England's victory over West Indies in an ODI. "I don't go out anymore. I mean, I might go out for dinner, but I don't go out-out (for long night and drinks) anymore in England," he said. "I used to love going out and celebrating with the lads. But we can do that in the hotel and I don't miss it. I don't feel that urge any more. Once you make the transition to not doing it then you don't miss it," Stokes said.

IPL 2019: Funny Twitter reactions after Virat Kohli-led Bangalore's defeat to Kolkata

Virat Kohli slammed Bangalore's bowling department for conceding too many runs in the last four overs after <a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/ipl-2019-andre-russell-steers-kolkata-to-5-wicket-victory-over-bangalore-208257">his side's defeat to Kolkata</a> on Friday at Chinnaswamy Stadium.&nbsp;

Chasing 206, Kolkata team was able to score 66 runs off the last 24 balls to snatch a sensational win from Virat's side, who are yet to win this season.&nbsp;

In the post-match presentation, Virat said, "There is no guessing there (about where we lost the game), the last 4 four overs that we bowled was just unacceptable. We needed to be more clever, nothing came off and we just cracked under pressure. That's been our story this season so far."&nbsp;

"If you bowl with not enough bravery in the crucial overs, it's always going to be difficult against power-hitters like Russell," Kohli said.&nbsp;

Talking about his own innings of 84, Kohli said, "I wasn't really happy getting out at that moment, could've got 20-25 more. AB didn't get much strike in the end. I thought the runs were enough on the board, we didn't have enough composure."

He further added, "If you can't defend 75 in the last four overs, then I don't know if you can defend 100. We can have a bit of chat about what went wrong, apart from that nothing much you can say. I don't think talking enough helps all the time.&nbsp;

"You need to give the guys some space and come back stronger in the next game. It's been a disappointing season so far, but we are still optimistic about our chances," added Kohli.&nbsp;

IPL 2019: Here's what Virat Kohli has to say after losing to Kolkata

Delhi coach Ricky Ponting was furious with the Feroz Shah Kotla ground staff, who provided the home team with a pitch that proved to be more helpful for the Hyderabad during the IPL encounter between two teams.&nbsp;

Hyderabad comfortably <a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/ipl-2019-hyderabad-beat-delhi-by-five-wickets-to-top-points-table-208025">beat Delhi by five wickets</a> on a track where run-scoring was difficult and suited the visiting team bowlers even more.&nbsp;

In fact, the former Australian captain made it a point to mention that inputs provided by the groundsmen was completely opposite to how the pitch played out.&nbsp;

"I think it is fair to say that the wicket surprised us a lot. Talking to the groundsmen before the match, we thought this would be the best pitch that we had by far but it was the worse. You saw how little it bounced and how slow it was," Ponting told reporters after the match.&nbsp;

Hyderabad's Afghan spin duo of Mohammed Nabi and Rashid Khan took three wickets amongst them, giving away only 39 runs in their combined eight overs.&nbsp;

"Look, at the end of the day, it is the same pitch for both teams but if you would have asked me, would I have wanted to play Sunrisers on that type of pitch? I mean, there couldn't have been a different wicket where you would have wanted to play Sunrisers on," Ponting smiled as he answered but his anger was palpable.&nbsp;

He then explained that how the slowness of nature took his team's pacers like Ishant Sharma and Kagiso Rabada out of the equation and in turn helped their seamers, Sandeep Sharma and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.&nbsp;

"It (Pitch) absolutely suited their game. They have great spinners and all their seamers just bowled slower balls. And on that wicket, when you bowl slower balls it is near impossible to hit," he reasoned.&nbsp;

The coach then said that if the nature of the Kotla track remains same during the remaining four home games, he will have to seriously think about his team combination.&nbsp;&nbsp;

"But if the wicket is going to remain like this, then we have to think about our selection in our team as well. Maybe our bowlers were not suited to that wicket today but it was not what we expected so we are as surprised as anybody else."&nbsp;

However, Ponting put up a brave face after the team's third defeat and expected the talented bunch of players to bounce back.&nbsp;

"It is not the end of the world by any stretch of imagination. We have a good mix of experience with Shikhar and Morris. Even Rishabh (Pant) and Shreyas (Iyer) have played 4-6 editions of IPL, so they are not inexperienced," he said.&nbsp;

Even though he was livid with the track on offer, Ponting admitted that his team has not "played the conditions better" with visiting teams dominating them.&nbsp;

"This is our home ground and we need to play these conditions better than the opposition and two of three games our opposition has played better than us, so we definitely have to improve there. We will leave no stones unturned to make sure we are well prepared for the next game."&nbsp;

Virat Kohli becomes leading run-getter in Indian Premier League

IPL 2019: Match preview Chennai vs Punjab and Hyderabad vs Mumbai

India captain Virat Kohli does not want performance at the ongoing <a href="https://www.wionews.com/ipl-2019">Indian Premier League</a> to determine team composition for this year's World Cup but selectors have little choice after a series of candidates failed to nail down the number four slot.

Twice 50-over champions India have an otherwise settled batting line-up with a formidable top order consisting of Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Kohli himself.

The selectors, however, continue to fret over who should walk out to bat after the fall of the second wicket during the May 30-July 14 showpiece tournament in England and Wales.

Ajinkya Rahane, Manish Pandey, Lokesh Rahul, Dinesh Karthik and Ambati Rayudu have all been trialled for the number four spot and found wanting.

With the ongoing IPL the only form of cricket left before Kohli's team embarks on their World Cup campaign, the selectors maybe forced to consider the form of the players in the T20 tournament before picking the squad ahead of the April 23 deadline.

"They have maintained that they won't look at IPL but it's going to be very hard," former India batsman Sanjay Manjrekar told Reuters in a recent interview.

"There are some borderline cases, like if they are looking at Dinesh Karthik, Ambati Rayudu and Vijay Shankar or a Manish Pandey or an Ajinkya Rahane. So all these people are there and thereabout."

"And if somebody has a great IPL season, it will be hard to ignore him, but they (selectors) should not actually get too carried away with what happens in the IPL."

Rayudu, 33, emerged as the most likely choice to fill the void but scores of 13, 18 and two in the first three matches of the recent home series against world champions Australia hurt his cause.

Pressure is only mounting on the selectors with Rayudu, who plays for IPL champions Chennai, scoring 28, five, one and zero in the first four matches of the tournament.

Manjrekar felt India were back to square one with no more ODIs scheduled before the World Cup in England and Wales, where the team will be looking to add to their 1983 and 2011 triumphs.

India's limited-overs vice-captain, Rohit, believes inputs from Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri should determine the selection of the final 15.

"With their inputs, the selectors will keep an eye on what is happening with those guys during the IPL," Rohit, who leads the Mumbai&nbsp;side in the IPL, told reporters at the launch of cricket.com website on Thursday.

"Although I feel IPL shouldn't be the criterion for team selection. We have played enough international matches to see where each individual stands.

"You can't select a 50-overs format team based on a 20-overs franchise competition. IPL is a different ball game, it's franchise cricket.

"Yes form matters a lot. But in this last four years we have played enough ODI matches, we have played enough T20 Internationals. So that should be enough to understand that these are the players we want."

IPL not ideal yardstick, but little choice for India selectors

Hardik Pandya was characteristically quirky as well as breathtaking and the highlight was the helicopter shot in front of its synonym, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, as Mumbai humbled Chennai by 37 runs in the IPL on Wednesday.

Invited to bat on a track that offered good bounce, Mumbai creamed 29 runs in final over with Hardik doing the bulk of scoring, his eight-ball 25-run blitzkrieg bringing the high-flying visitors to earth.

Struggling at 50 for three at one point, Mumbai raked in 45 runs in the last two overs to post 170 for five and then halted their rivals at 133 for eight to post their second win in four games. This was Chennai's maiden defeat and they remained on top of the table with six points.

Mumbai were indebted to a fine knock of 59 in 43 balls by Suryakumar Yadav, who hit eight fours and a six while putting on a half-century stand with Krunal Pandya (42 in 32 balls).

Towards the end, Hardik and Kieron Pollard (17 in 7 balls) struck big to remain unbeaten and boosted the total, with the former striking three sixes and one four and the latter hitting twice over the ropes.

The title holders made a poor start in the run chase by losing their top three batsmen Shane Watson, Ambati Rayudu and Suresh Raina within the power play period, with just 33 on the board.

Watson and Raina were both caught square off the wicket by big West Indian Kieron Pollard, the bowlers to benefit being Lasith Malinga and Jason Behrendorff.

Raina was caught off a full-blooded slash by Pollard who took a spectacular one-handed leaping catch just inside the boundary line to send back the free-stroking left-hander for 16 in 15 balls.

Kedar Jadhav, who looked good in making 58 in 54 balls, with skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni (12), repaired the damage with a stand of 54.

Hardik struck big by having Dhoni caught at square leg and then sent back Ravindra Jadeja, too, in the same over to reduce Chennai to 89 for five in the 15th over.

The dismissals of Jadhav, who struck 8 fours and a six, and Dwayne Bravo in quick succession ended the slim hopes of the visitors.

For MI, Malinga and Hardik bagged three wickets apiece while Behrendorff secured two.

Earlier, Mumbai had a slow start and also lost the wicket of Quinton de Kock in the third over with only eight runs on the board.

The arrival of Yadav to the crease increased the run rate as he played handsome drives in front of the wicket on both sides off Deepak Chahar, who he hit for three fours in one over, and Shardul Thakur, who gave away three boundaries in his second over.

Thanks to the stroke-filled start by Yadav, Mumbai ended with 40 on the board at the end of power play, but then lost skipper Rohit Sharma off the first ball of the 8th over, caught behind off Ravindra Jadeja for 13.

Yuvraj Singh, too, flopped, caught just inside the boundary line to leave MI at 50 for three in the 9th over before Yadav and Krunal revived the sagging innings with their half-century stand.&nbsp;

IPL 2019: In pursuit of first win, Virat Kohli-led Bangalore set to take on Kolkata

Afghanistan's Mohammad Nabi played a pivotal role as Hyderabad dished out an all-round effort to record a <a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/live-updates-ipl-2019-delhi-capitals-vs-sunrisers-hyderabad-207947">five-wicket win over hosts Delhi</a> and register their third consecutive victory in the Indian Premier League on Thursday.

Nabi (2/21) took two wickets with the ball and also played a crucial 9-ball 17-run unbeaten knock towards the end to help Hyderabad keep their winning run intact.

By virtue of this win, Hyderabad have moved to the top of the eight-team standings with six points from four games.

Chasing a modest 130, opener Jonny Bairstow smashed a 28-ball 48 to set the foundation but Hyderabad lost five wickets for 48 runs to slip to 111 for five by the end of the 16th over.

Nabi and Yusuf Pathan (9 not out) then held their nerves to take Hyderabad home, scoring 131 for five in 18.3 overs.&nbsp;

The win took Hyderabad's overall head-to-head record against Delhi at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium to 4-1.

Earlier electing to field, Hyderabad dished out a superb bowling effort on a slow and dry wicket to restrict Delhi to a lowly 129 for eight.&nbsp;

It was skipper Shreyas Iyer, who emerged as the highest-scorer for Delhi with a steady 41-ball 43.

Chasing a lowly target, Bairstow got a reprieve early on when Axar Patel dropped a caught and bowl chance in the second over.

The Englishman made Delhi pay for the mistake, blasting a six and a four off Sandeep Lamichhane in the next over. He next took Chris Morris to the cleaners, smashing three boundaries and another hit to the fence in the next over.

Kagiso Rabada was introduced but he too was treated with equal disdain by Bairstow, sending him across the fences thrice as Hyderabad once again didn't lose any wicket in the powerplay, scoring 62 for no loss.

Bairstow was finally dismissed in the seventh over with Rahul Tewatia trapping him in front of the wicket. The opener asked for a review but the decision was not overturned.

Rabada then ended Warner's rampaging run in the tournament by having him caught at mid-off.&nbsp;

The hosts then removed Manish Pandey (10), Vijay Shankar (16) and Deepak Hooda (10) quickly to give themselves a chance of a comeback.

Earlier, Hyderabad bowlers exploited the conditions well, making life difficult for the hosts, who simply failed to get going right from the start on a slow wicket.&nbsp;

Skipper Iyer tried to anchor the innings but he didn't get support from the other end. It would have been more embarrassing for Delhi, if not for the cameos from Morris (17 off 15) and Axar Patel (23 not out off 13).

The pace-spin combination of Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2/27) and Nabi gave Hyderabad a good start, restricting Delhi to 19 for one in first four overs.

After conceding a first ball boundary, Bhuvneshwar came back to clean up Prithvi Shaw in the third over. &nbsp;

Iyer then deposited one at the stands after Siddarth Kaul (2/35) was introduced into the attack, while Shikhar Dhawan hit a four with a sweep shot off Nabi.

But another sweep shot proved costly as Nabi had Dhawan caught at short fine leg by Sandeep Sharma. Delhi thus slumped to 36 for two after the end of the powerplay.

A lot was expected from Rishabh Pant but he too departed just after a time-out in the 10th over.&nbsp;

Sandeep Sharma (1/25) then bamboozled Rahul Tewatia with a knuckleball as Delhi slipped to 61 for four in 11 overs.

In the 14th over, Manish Pandey took a superb catch at point to remove Colin Ingram off Kaul's ball as Delhi lost half their side for 75.

Morris blasted two fours to give some momentum to Delhi's innings but Rashid Khan got rid off Iyer, who tried to sweep across the line and ended up being bowled as Delhi were reduced to 93 for six.

With three overs to go, Morris sent Sandeep Sharma over the mid-wicket area to take Delhi across the 100-run mark.

Once Morris was dismissed by Bhuvneshwar in the 19th over, it was upto Axar Patel to take the score to some respectability and he tried his best, smashing a four and two sixes in the last over to take Delhi close to 130-run mark.&nbsp;

IPL 2019: Hyderabad beat Delhi by five wickets to top points table

Indian Premier League 2019 got its first controversy when Rajasthan opener <a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/wishy-washy-areas-in-mankading-law-need-to-be-addressed-jos-buttler-207934">Jos Buttler was 'Mankaded' by Punjab's R Ashwin during their campaign opener</a> in Jaipur.

Buttler's dismissal which went to the third umpire and was given out triggered a furore and left the cricket world divided.

While Buttler was furious over the incident, raising questions on Ashwin's cricketing spirit, the Punjab skipper termed it legal and within the rulebook of the International Cricket Council (ICC).&nbsp;

Speaking exclusively to WION, the English cricketer termed the entire incident 'disappointing' and urged for a better-written law on 'Mankading'.

"Ya, I was obviously disappointed with the incident but now I understand that the laws of the game are there and that's fine and have no problem with that."

"But, I think the law could probably be written in a better way. Think there is a quote in it that says expected to release the ball and I'm sure that's quite a grey area. If you look back at it, I think I was probably in my ground when the ball was expected to be released."

Buttler, who has smashed two half-centuries in the league so far, stressed that cricketers should play to be a bigger role model for the young kids. &nbsp;

"I understand why the law is there but the spirit of the cricket is important. I think we have to be bigger role models for young kids, but unfortunately, everyone will interpret what the spirit of cricket is. So it's another tough question to answer because we all will see the world differently and we all interpret the law differently and what the spirit of cricket is, so I think it could be clarified better the way the law is written."

In this season, Rajasthan were on a losing streak - having suffered defeats at the hands of Punjab, Hyderabad and Chennai - before finally defeating Bangalore to register their first win.&nbsp;

When asked how special the win was Buttler said it was nothing but a 'big relief for the entire team'.

"It is a big relief to get our first win. We played some good cricket in stages in the previous games but haven't managed to put together a whole performance and get a win for the team. Guys are delighted to get that first win on the board and hopefully, we can now get on a roll."

Buttler is the most dependent batsmen of the Rajasthan as he stood up on two occasions when the side needed him the most. He, however, failed to turn it into a win.&nbsp;

When questioned about his role in the team, said I just react to the conditions.

"The role changes a little bit depending on the situation of the game. The other night I was disappointed to get out and not be there till the end, so that's was something I tried to do and get the team over the line. And I think, you just have to react to the conditions."&nbsp;

The Ajinkya Rahane led-team will next face Dinesh Karthik's Kolkata at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.

When asked what plans the team has for this upcoming games, the 28-year-old said it is important to construct to climb the points table and get into the play-offs. &nbsp;

Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni brought the helicopter shot into the cricketing world and with time it has become a synonym with his name.&nbsp;

Several players, who consider Dhoni their idol, have tried to emulate Mahi's signature shot. While many failed, only a bunch of cricketers succeeded.

Yesterday, during Mumbai vs Chennai game at Wankhede Stadium, Hardik Pandya turned a yorker into a six with a helicopter shot.

Who hits the better helicopter shot, MS Dhoni or Hardik Pandya?

No matter which ground he is playing on in India, Chennai skipper MS Dhoni is one of the most popular cricketers on and off the pitch.&nbsp;It is not just his cricketing skills, but the humbleness which has helped in increasing his fan base.

On Wednesday, during Chennai vs Mumbai game, Captain Cool showed why he is everyone's favourite.

An elderly woman had come to the Wankhede stadium not to watch the game but to meet the former Indian skipper. She was caught on camera holding a placard with her wish written on it - "I am here only for Dhoni".

After the match got over on, Dhoni made his way down the stairs from the team's dressing room and met the woman and the young girl who accompanied her.&nbsp;

IPL's Twitter handle also shared a video in which Dhoni can be seen taking out time to meet the woman.

Mumbai, yesterday, put an end to Chennai's winning streak and defeated them by 37 runs.&nbsp;

Chasing 171 for victory, Mumbai restricted Chennai to 133 for 8 in 20 overs with Hardik Pandya and Lasith Malinga bagging three wickets each.

No matter which ground he is playing on in India, Chennai skipper MS Dhoni is one of the most popular cricketers on and off the pitch. It is not just his cricketing skills, but the humbleness which has helped in increasing his fan base.

No matter which ground he is playing on in India, Chennai skipper MS Dhoni is one of the most popular cricketers on and off the pitch. It is not just his cricketing skills, but the humbleness which has helped in increasing his fan base. After the match got over on, Dhoni made his way down the stairs from the team's dressing room and met the woman and the young girl who accompanied her. IPL's Twitter handle also shared a video in which Dhoni can be seen taking out time to meet the woman. Watch: This is why MS Dhoni is called 'a man with a golden heart'

Going into the match 16 of the Indian Premier League 2019, Delhi will host Hyderabad at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground in New Delhi.&nbsp;

Delhi skipper Shreyas Iyer's task is to sort out his team’s lower-order and get some consistency in their remaining fixtures of this season.&nbsp;

On the other hand, Hyderabad are in great form as their openers -David Warner and Jonny Bairstow - scored centuries to handle a 118-run defeat to Bangalore.&nbsp;

However, it will be interesting to see whether Hyderabad's regular captain Kane Williamson is fit to make a comeback in the playing 11.&nbsp;

Delhi are currently placed at the fifth spot at 2019 IPL points table with two wins and as many losses after four games while Hyderabad are placed at the third position with two wins and one loss but they have best net run rate (2.111) among eight teams.

If we talk about the previous performances of the two sides the, Delhi began their tournament with a superb win over three-time former champions Mumbai but suffered a defeat at the hands of Chennai. they later made a strong comeback by defeating Kolkata in Super Over but again lost the winning track against Punjab.&nbsp;

Against Punjab, Delhi's frailties came into limelight as the team suffered a lower order collapse as they lost seven wickets for just eight runs.

Rishabh Pant, who made 78 to pile up 213 for his team against Mumbai in the first match, has been the highest run-scorer for Delhi while the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Iyer and Colin Ingram too have been among runs.&nbsp;

The bowling department led by Kagiso Rabada, while they also have New Zealand pacer Trent Boult and Ishant Sharma in their ranks.&nbsp;

Young Nepalese leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane too has performed well so far for Delhi.

Hyderabad openers Warner and Bairstow, on the other hand, have been in scintillating form in IPL 2019, establishing a partnership in all their three matches so far.&nbsp;

On road to redemption, Warner has looked ominous as he blasted 69 off 37 balls against Rajasthan, before a whirlwind 55-ball unbeaten 100 blew away Bangalore.&nbsp;

Besides, he started IPL 2019 with a 85-run knock against Kolkata. After the six-wicket defeat to Kolkata, Hyderabad roared their way back into the tournament, largely riding on Warner and Bairstow's exploits and come Thursday, they would be eyeing a hat-trick of wins.&nbsp;

Among Hyderabad bowlers, Afghanistan spin duo of Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan would look to do the maximum damage, while pacer Sandeep Sharma too has done well with four wickets.

But Bhuvneshwar Kumar's performance, especially at the death, has been a major concern for Hyderabad.

IPL 2019: Delhi look to overcome lower-order woes against Hyderabad

With skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni in red-hot form, Chennai will start favourites against the slightly off-colour Mumbai when the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/ipl-2019">Indian Premier League</a>'s two most successful teams have their first showdown of the season on Wednesday.

Chennai, three-time winners of the T20 League like the hosts, have been on a roll with three wins on the trot that have boosted them to the top of the table.

Mumbai, on the other hand, had a familiar stuttering start with a victory sandwiched between two defeats.

Recent history in head-to-head clashes is in Mumbai's favour, as the Rohit Sharma-led home team has beaten their rivals in four out of the last five contests.

Overall too Mumbai holds a 14-12 advantage over Chennai, including once in the defunct Champions T20 League.

However, Chennai seem to hold the edge this time around, especially with Dhoni rolling back the years with a typically robust 75 off 46 balls that lifted his team from 27 for three to 175 for five against Rajasthan at home in their last match.

<a class="close-mark close-div" href="#" id="jqclosemark">×</a></div>

And with Dwayne Bravo holding off Rajasthan's charge at the end with the ball, Chennai maintained their 100 per cent record.

Chennai&nbsp;have the edge in batting depth and in spin bowling variety, while Mumbai have the better pace attack on a pitch that is bound to offer bounce and carry.

Mumbai are over-dependent on openers Rohit and South African Quinton de Kock. The rest need to step up.

The hosts will have the option of fielding new recruit, West Indian fast bowler Alzarri Joseph, or all-rounder Ben Cutting in place of the off-boil Lasith Malinga.

In the spin department, Mumbai are behind their opponents who have Harbhajan Singh, South African Imran Tahir and Ravindra Jadeja to bank on after the power play.

IPL 2019: Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai to take on MS Dhoni-led Chennai at Wankhede Stadium

IPL 2019: Match preview of Mumbai vs Chennai

Kolkata's batting coach Simon Katich spoke highly of side's explosive batting unit that has inspired the team to two wins and a narrow defeat so far in the ongoing edition of <a href="https://www.wionews.com/ipl-2019">Indian Premier League</a>.&nbsp;

Kolkata defeated Hyderabad by six wickets in their campaign opener and registered another win in their second match against Punjab, however, they suffered a defeat to Shreyas Iyer-led Delhi in an intriguing match that concluded in a Super Over.&nbsp;

In an exclusive interview to WION, Katich said, "Lot of positives in the three matches so far. Didn't get up against Delhi especially in the Super Over, but proud of the way the boys fought back."&nbsp;

Against Delhi, Kolkata was at a score of 61 after losing five wickets but the middle batting order stepped up and ended up giving a 185-run target.&nbsp;

"We got highly skilled batsmen. Nice to have that balance, I trust the boys to go with their instinct," Katich said.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The former Australia left-handed batsman talked about Andre Russell and Dinesh Karthik's magnificent form in the ongoing edition of Indian Premier League.&nbsp;

"We knew how much of a match-winner Russel can be but from a batting point of view, we tried to work on keeping his front leg still and that has allowed him to be in a much more powerful position," said Kolkata's batting coach on Russell's training.&nbsp;

He added, "Teams can't just throw the ball with pace or bowl wide yorkers and if he can continue to do that then he can be hard to bowl to."&nbsp;

Windies batsman Russell has been outstanding in the ongoing season, in the first match Hyderabad, he scored an unbeaten 49 off 19 and in the second match against he scored 48 off 17 balls. Against Delhi, Russell hit a half-century, he scored 62 runs off 28 balls.&nbsp;

Katich is confident that their captain Dinesh Karthik will once again excel in his designated finisher's role.&nbsp;

He said, "None of the guys would try to execute these shots unless they've done it in practice and they try to simulate the situation and Dinesh does it very well."&nbsp;

He added, "He has the experience and can be difficult to bowl to at the back end of the innings."&nbsp;

Kolkata's batting coach Simon Katich spoke highly of side's explosive batting unit that has inspired the team to two wins and a narrow defeat so far in the ongoing edition of Indian Premier League. Kolkata defeated Hyderabad by six wickets in their campaign opener and registered another win in their second match against Punjab, however, they suffered a defeat to Shreyas Iyer-led Delhi in an intriguing match that concluded in a Super Over. In an exclusive interview to WION, Katich said, "Lot of positives in the three matches so far. Didn't get up against Delhi especially in the Super Over, but proud of the way the boys fought back." Against Delhi, Kolkata was at a score of 61 after losing five wickets but the middle batting order stepped up and ended up giving a 185-run target. "We got highly skilled batsmen. Nice to have that balance, I trust the boys to go with their instinct," Katich said. The former Australia left-handed batsman talked about Andre Russell and Dinesh Karthik's magnificent form in the ongoing edition of Indian Premier League. "We knew how much of a match-winner Russel can be but from a batting point of view, we tried to work on keeping his front leg still and that has allowed him to be in a much more powerful position," said Kolkata's batting coach on Russell's training. He added, "Teams can't just throw the ball with pace or bowl wide yorkers and if he can continue to do that then he can be hard to bowl to." Windies batsman Russell has been outstanding in the ongoing season, in the first match Hyderabad, he scored an unbeaten 49 off 19 and in the second match against he scored 48 off 17 balls. Against Delhi, Russell hit a half-century, he scored 62 runs off 28 balls. Katich is confident that their captain Dinesh Karthik will once again excel in his designated finisher's role. He said, "None of the guys would try to execute these shots unless they've done it in practice and they try to simulate the situation and Dinesh does it very well." He added, "He has the experience and can be difficult to bowl to at the back end of the innings." Ahead of the tournament, Katich had dropped a hint that Karthik would use the IPL to showcase his skill set in pressure games, making a case for his selection in India's World Cup squad. Katich gave especially mention to the local players, who are well aware of the conditions. He said, "It's the IPL, locals have a big advantage as they know the conditions." IPL 2019: 'Worried' Delhi hosts upbeat Hyderabad

Bangalore captain Virat Kohli has hinted at making wholesale changes to his team after Tuesday's Indian Premier League (IPL) defeat to Rajasthan&nbsp;left them the only winless side in the Twenty20 tournament.

With both sides without a victory in their first three matches, it was the Rajasthan who broke their duck with a seven-wicket win in Jaipur, spearheaded by Shreyas Gopal's 3-12 with his leg-spin and a 59 from Jos Buttler's bat.

Kohli dropped his Rajasthan counterpart Ajinkya Rahane on one and his team dropped three more catches to aid their opponents' chase. Rahane went on to make 22 and combined with Buttler to give Rajasthan a brisk opening stand of 60.

"In a tournament like the IPL, when the team doesn't have any momentum, things can get difficult," Kohli said after the game.

"The guys can get a little tight in the field. Bodies can get stiff. A bit of nervousness as well.

"Look we have to consider everything. The team hasn't got off to a great start. These things (dropped catches) look really bad when they happen in this sort of phase for a team."

Despite having Kohli and talismanic South African AB de Villiers in their ranks, Bangalore's batting has failed twice in four matches.

They were all out for 70 in the IPL opener against Chennai and bundled out for 113 on Sunday against the Sunrisers, losing by a huge margin of 118 runs. They fared better against Rajasthan, scoring 158-4, but it still proved inadequate.

"This tournament is not that long," Kohli said. "You have to be on the eight ball. You have to think on your feet. You have to think of the best possible combination going forward.

"We will definitely sit down and consider talking about what we can do. What can we do to get the balance right. Hopefully, get some fresh guys in and they can make some cracking match-winning performances for us and get the team going."

Kohli, who also skippers India in all three formats, has his work cut out for him if he is to lead Bangalore to a first IPL title after losing their first four games.

"We have 10 games to go. If we start turning things around pretty soon, then we can get on a roll as well. We have to keep believing as a side," he said.

IPL 2019: Virat Kohli may ring changes after Bangalore's fourth straight loss

Punjab's costliest buy Sam Curran proved his worth with an incredible spell at the back end as the home team pulled off a miraculous 14-run victory against Delhi Capitals left stunned by an inexplicable batting collapse in Monday's IPL encounter.

Punjab's 'million dollar man' Curran picked up 4 for 11 in 2.2 overs including a hat-trick and was ably supported by Mohammed Shami as Delhi were shot out for 152 in 19.2 overs in pursuit of 167.

From 144 for 3, Delhi lost their last seven wickets for 8 runs, something that will haunt them for days to come especially after Rishabh Pant and Colin Ingram set up what looked like an easy win.&nbsp;

Pant muscled a couple of sixes into deep mid-wicket stand during 39 off 26 balls as Ingram (38 off 29 balls) bisected the off-side field with some precision cut shots during their stand of 62 in 6.5 overs that took Capitals closer to victory.

However, there were more twists and turns than what Capitals had thought.

In a space of 9 deliveries, Delhi lost 4 wickets for only 4 runs. From 144 for 3, they were in a precarious position at 147 for 7. The ball also started reversing more and DC's lower-middle was incapable of handling the movement in the air.&nbsp;

Once Pant was bowled by Mohammed Shami and Chris Morris was needlessly run-out off the very next delivery, things started going downhill.

Curran dealt twin blows removing Ingram and Harshal Patel while Hanuma Vihari (2), a surprise selection in this format with very limited range of strokes was dismissed by Shami as the match swung in KXIP's favour. &nbsp;

Prithvi Shaw coldn't replicate his performance against KKR but Shikhar Dhawan (30 off 25 balls) and skipper Shreyas Iyer (28 off 22 balls) added 61 for the second wicket to set a platform.&nbsp;

Iyer looked a better player of the two on the day with his shot arm pull and the powerful slash over point but played away from his body off a Hardus Viljoen delivery while Dhawan padded a carrom ball from Ashwin.&nbsp;

Earlier, Chris Gayle's absence at the top of the order did have an impact as Punjab could only manage a par-score of 166 for 9 after being put into bat.

With the 'Universe Boss' ruled out due to back injury (lat strain), Punjab batsmen despite being good at times could never really take the Delhi bowling apart.

Save David Miller (43 off 30 balls) and Sarfaraz Khan (39 off 29 balls), other batsmen didn't have a good day against the trio of Chris Morris *(3/30), Kagiso Rabada (2/32) and young Sandeep Lamichhane (2/27 in 4 overs).

Morris was the pick of the bowlers, removing Punjab's last-match hero KL Rahul (15) with an inswinger as he played across the line.

Sam Curran (20, 10 balls) promoted up the order did hit a couple of lusty blows but Lamichhane got him with a flipper. Mayank Agarwal went for a non-existent single and couldn't beat Shikar Dhawan's direct throw at the non-striker's end.

Miller and Sarfaraz however didn't get bogged down as they added 62 in 6.4 overs carrying out a recovery process from 58 for three.

While Miller attacked Lamichhane hitting him for a six over long-on, Sarfaraz played his now patent "closed eyes scoop shot" over keeper's head.

But Lamicchhane had the last laugh as he edged one to Pant behind the stumps while Miller offers the Capitals skipper an easy skier trying to hit Morris out of the park.

In the end, Madeep Singh (29 no off 21 balls) took the team past 160-run mark.

Paceman Kagiso Rabada defended 10 runs in the Super Over to steer Delhi&nbsp;to a thrilling victory over Kolkata after the home side made heavy weather of a run chase here Saturday.

Chasing 186 to win, Delhi&nbsp;were set up nicely by Prithvi Shaw's 99 off 55 balls but they could not score six runs from the last over, bowled by chinaman Kuldeep Yadav, who held his nerves to give Kolkata a chance to steal a win.

The Capitals ended their run chase at 185 for 6 in 20 overs, taking the match to Super Over.&nbsp;

The home side managed just 10 runs in the Super Over bowled by paceman Krishna Prasidh but Rabada executed yorkers perfectly to deny Kolkata. He removed dangerous

Andre Russell with a perfectly placed yorker and did not allow other batsmen, including captain Dinesh Karthik, to free their arms.

Kolkata needed five off the final ball but managed just one.

Shaw missed out on his century by just one run but steered Delhi&nbsp;to the doorsteps of a win.

Jamaican Russell had endured a beamer blow but still produced a blistering knock of 62 runs from 28 balls to lift Kolkata to a fighting 185 for eight from 64 for five at one stage after being put into bat.

Shaw paced his innings superbly. He initially was happy rotating the strike but did not miss when he had the chance to open his arms.

The 19-year-old from Mumbai packed a lot of power in his pull shots and also drove elegantly. He hit 12 fours and three sixes in his 55-ball knock which pushed the home side to the doorsteps of a win.

He was caught in the penultimate over, edging one off Lockei Ferguson while going for a big shot.

Shaw shared a 89-run stand with his skipper Shreyas Iyer (43 off 32).

The Capitals made it tough for themselves in the last over with Rishabh Pant and others failing to take the side past the finish line.

The home side did not have a flying start and lost Shikhar Dhawan (16) early but shaw and Iyer rotated the strike and also found boundaries in between to keep the required run rate under control.

Shaw's six off Russell, a pull in the mid-wicket, was a treat to watch. He completed his fifty with a six and a four off chinaman Kuldeep Yadav, who was also taken to the cleaners by Iyer.

The partnership ended when Iyer was caught by Shubhman Gill off Russell, two balls after he was dropped by the same fielder.&nbsp;

Later, Shaw added 54 for the third wicket with Rishabh Pant (11).

Earlier, Russell smashed 62 off 28 balls and shared a crucial 95-run stand with his skipper Dinesh Karthik (50 off 36 balls) for the sixth wicket.

The home side dominated a large part of the innings after electing to bowl but Russell and Karthik seized the momentum with their fearless batting.

Russell was hit on his left shoulder by a beamer from pacer Harshal Patel in the 14th over and was on the ground. However, after receiving treatment, he launched an assault on the home bowlers, hitting four fours and six sixes.

Kolkata collected 84 runs in the last six overs to have a challenging total on the board.

The wicket had good carry and it showed when both Kagiso Rabada and Chris Morris bowled. They did trouble the batsmen with pace and bounce.

Lamichhane too tested the KKR batsmen with his leg-breaks.&nbsp;

Iyer smartly shuffled his bowlers around, mixing pace with spin. Patel got rid of Robin Uthappa (11) and Nitish Rana (1) while Rabada had Chris Lynn (20) caught behind.

The run out of young Shubman Gill only made it worse for the visiting side.

The run flow improved dramatically with Russell going hammer and tongs.

Lamichhane, who had given only 12 runs in his three overs, ended his quota with an expensive over with skipper Karthik and Russell creaming off 17 runs.&nbsp;

"We miscalculated the target. I think It was just&nbsp;a panic&nbsp;in between. They got two wickets in succession, (Chris) Morris and (Rishabh) Pant and there we lost the match. Our batsmen did not taking initiative to win the game," the skipper said.&nbsp;

Iyer said Delhi will have enough time to work on their shortcoming since it happened early in the tournament.&nbsp;

Mahendra Singh Dhoni's well-calculated half-century in challenging conditions turned out to be game-changer as Chennai&nbsp;won their third match of the season with an eight-run defeat of Rajasthan, here Sunday.&nbsp;

The pitch used in the previous match was a rank turner here but on Sunday it turned to be a different challenge for the batsmen since it was not conducive for stroke-play as the ball was stopping a bit.

Dhoni paced his innings beautifully, scoring unbeaten 75 off 46 balls to lead his side to a competitive 175 for five, seizing momentum from Royals bowlers who were off to an inspiring start.&nbsp;

Rajasthan needed someone to play a Dhoni-like innings but none took that responsibility and they could manage 167 for 8, suffering their third defeat in as many matches.

Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer took the chase deep with their fiery 44-run stand but Dwayne Bravo bowled a brilliant last over, defending 12 runs that Royals needed to score to claim the win.&nbsp;

Dhoni used his vast experience to read the conditions and mostly worked the ball around to keep the scoreboard ticking. Whenever he got the chance, he opened his arms and hit four fours and as many sixes.

Dhoni and Suresh Raina (36) added 61 runs for the fourth wicket, pushing the ball around and later the former India skipper raised a 56-run stand with West Indies' Dwayne Barvo, who added quick 27 runs.&nbsp;

Royals were disciplined throughout but pacer Jaydev Unadkat (1/54) conceded 28 runs in the final over with Dhoni finding three of his four sixes in that over after Ravindra Jadeja (8) lofted the paceman for a maximum.&nbsp;

The Royals innings went the Chennai way as they struggled in Powerplay overs and lost top three batsmen.&nbsp;

Steve Smith (28) and Rahul Tripathi (3) steadied the innings with their 61-run partnership for the fourth wicket but spinner Imran Tahir sent them back in an excellent spell to make it difficult for the visitors.

Stokes (46 off 26) was still at the crease when Royals needed 44 from last three overs. Stokes and Archer collected 19 runs from Barvo's over taking the equation to 25 from 12.

It came down to 12 from last six balls and Bravo made up for that expensive over by having Stokes caught in the first ball. The West Indian all-rounder conceded just three runs by bowling quick to ensure Chennai end on the right side of the result.

Earlier, the Royals pace trio of Archer (2/17), Dhawal Kulkarni (1/37) and Stokes kept the Chennai batsmen on a tight leash in the powerplay overs. They conceded just 29 runs and also got rid of three top-order batsmen.

Each of them accounted for one C&nbsp;batsman, bringing experienced Dhoni and Raina together at the crease.

The runs came in singles with spinners Shreyas Gopal and Krishnappa Gowtham maintaining the pressure with tight line and length.

The ball stopped a bit, especially when Gopal operated, making stroke-making even more difficult.&nbsp;At the half-way mark, Chennai out on board just 55 runs and only seven boundaries were struck.

Raina meanwhile hit a massive six off Gopal but the two spinners did well to concede 37 runs while bowling in tandem for five overs.

In came Unadkat and went for a few runs but broke the stand by castling Raina with a quick delivery. Raina missed the line and Unadkat hit the stumps.&nbsp;
