Data breaches are a big worry, they can be prevented but for that, payments Apps must store data locally.

There is an important Bill before Parliament too - the Personal Data Bill. This Bill seeks to punish apps that violate privacy.

In a nutshell, empower Indian innovators, crackdown on privacy violation, punish the firms that flout rules and ensure that Indian data is stored in India.&nbsp;

India's publicly listed firms must disclose any failure to repay loans within 24 hours in cases where 30 days have passed since the default, its securities regulator said on Wednesday, tightening rules at a time when bond defaults have soared.

The decision was aimed at addressing any gaps in the availability of information to investors surrounding corporate defaults, the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/business-economy/sebi-to-expand-ofs-framework-relax-fpi-investment-clubbing-norms-182608">Securities and Exchange Board of India </a>(SEBI) said in a statement.

"The philosophy is that more and more information should be in the public domain that guides investors and other stakeholders," SEBI Chairman Ajay Tyagi told reporters in Mumbai.

The move comes as loan and bond defaults by companies, particularly several housing finance firms, are rising - adding to pressure on India's banks, which are saddled with a level of bad debt that is one of the world's highest.

India's housing finance companies and shadow lenders, a key source of credit to millions, have been battling a credit crunch since giant shadow bank IL&amp;FS collapsed in late 2018 amid fraud allegations.

Publicly-listed<a href="https://www.wionews.com/business-economy/sensex-nifty-nearly-flat-metal-stocks-drag-256379"> Dewan Housing Finance Corp Ltd </a>is one of India's top defaulters and owes close to 1 trillion rupees ($14 billion) to its debtors, which include banks and mutual funds.

The SEBI also tightened rules for portfolio managers, requiring that such firms must have a net worth of 50 million rupees ($696,233) from the earlier 20 million rupees.

It also doubled the required minimum investment by clients of portfolio managers to 5 million rupees from 2.5 million rupees.

"We have many clients between the 2.5 to 5 million-rupee bracket that is going to be disappointed," said Deepak Shenoy, the founder of Capitalmind, a portfolio manager in Bengaluru that manages 1.1 billion rupees in assets.

"It's not extremely bad (but) it will definitely affect business," Shenoy said.

Lauding the growth in cooperation in the maritime domain between India and Singapore, the two ministers recalled the inaugural edition of the Singapore-India-Thailand Maritime Exercise (SITMEX) in the Andaman Sea that was conducted in September 2019 which underscored the shared responsibility of the countries to work together in keeping sea lines of communications open and strengthened interoperability between the three countries.

Both leaders expressed satisfaction over the deepening of defence ties between the two Asian countries. Hen also appreciated New Delhi's continued support for the training of the Singapore Armed Forces in India. Of note, in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the Singapore Air Force-Indian Air Force Joint Military Training this year, the exercise was expanded to include an air-sea training component for the first time. 
Singh, meanwhile, reaffirmed India's full support and active participation in the regional security architecture, namely the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting Plus (ADMM Plus) and its many initiatives.

The Singaporean counterpart expressed support for India's upcoming co-chairmanship of the ADMM Plus Experts' Working Group on Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) and welcomed India's deepening engagements with the other ASEAN States, both in bilateral and multilateral formats. In this regard, both sides welcomed the conclusion of a Letter of Intent to reaffirm a mutual commitment to exploring deepening HADR cooperation in areas such as information sharing and capacity building.

The ministers also commended the progress in defence technology collaboration. They witnessed the exchange of a Letter of Intent to register both sides' commitment to conclude a Memorandum of Understanding to facilitate the use of Chandipur Integrated Test Range by the Singapore defence establishment.

Singh also offered setting up of a Joint Test Facilities under the Defence Testing Infrastructure Scheme of India to which Ng agreed in order to explore opportunities for joint collaboration.

The Ministers further agreed to explore cooperation in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Geo-Spatial Data Sharing, and Cyber Security. It was also agreed to hold the 5th DMD in India next year on mutually convenient dates. 
The DMD between India and Singapore had commenced in 2015 after both countries signed the revised Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA) to further strengthen the long-standing bilateral defence relationship. Since then, the relationship has broadened and deepened to encompass military cooperation across all three Services of the Armed Forces of India and Singapore, defence technology cooperation as well as cooperation through multilateral engagements.

Earlier today, on the final day of his visit to Singapore, Singh visited the Kranji War Memorial and paid tributes to those who laid down their lives in the line of duty during the Second World War.

The apex court verdict came on 65 petitions - including 56 review petitions, four fresh writ petitions, and five transfer pleas. The petitions challenged the authority of the court to intervene in a belief of the people.

Rajnath Singh holds bilateral meetings with Japan, US at ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting Plus in Bangkok

As healthcare turns costlier in developed countries, India's medical value travel (MVT) market is expected to reach a volume of nine billion dollars (about Rs 65,000 crore) by next year, according to a new knowledge paper released by industry body FICCI. 
 
The global MVT market estimated at 54 billion dollars is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 13 per cent until 2025. With its growing emphasis, several Asian countries have developed ecosystems necessary to become an MVT hub. 
 
"Among these economies, India is viewed as one of the preferred destinations and holds the fifth position among 41 major medical tourism destinations," said the paper titled 'India: Building Best Practices in Healthcare Services Globally' prepared in collaboration with consulting major Ernst &amp; Young. 
 
The key drivers of growth of MVT are affordability and accessibility of good healthcare services, availability of the latest medical technologies and accreditations, facilitation around hospitality services and minimal waiting time. 
 
The report says India is more affordable in terms of medical treatment and travel when compared to western countries. Medical travellers can save up to 50 per cent as the average daily cost of travel within India is 31 dollars (about Rs 2,232) compared to the United States having 223 dollars (about Rs 16,056). 
 
Besides, the quality of medical service is one of the hallmarks of India's position in global MVT. Currently, there are 38 hospitals accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI) and 619 accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH). 
 
Even being affordable, the mortality rate after 30 days of surgery is less in India (1.4 per cent) compared to the United States (1.9 per cent) which shows the quality of post-operative care provided by the Indian health service providers.

In addition, there is no grievances or redressal mechanism in place for international patients to raise any complaints. There is no policy arrangement in place to insure patients in case of unexpected complications in treatment.

"Among these economies, India is viewed as one of the preferred destinations and holds the fifth position among 41 major medical tourism destinations," said the paper titled 'India: Building Best Practices in Healthcare Services Globally' prepared in collaboration with consulting major Ernst & Young. The key drivers of growth of MVT are affordability and accessibility of good healthcare services, availability of the latest medical technologies and accreditations, facilitation around hospitality services and minimal waiting time. The report says India is more affordable in terms of medical treatment and travel when compared to western countries. Medical travellers can save up to 50 per cent as the average daily cost of travel within India is 31 dollars (about Rs 2,232) compared to the United States having 223 dollars (about Rs 16,056). Besides, the quality of medical service is one of the hallmarks of India's position in global MVT. Currently, there are 38 hospitals accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI) and 619 accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH). Even being affordable, the mortality rate after 30 days of surgery is less in India (1.4 per cent) compared to the United States (1.9 per cent) which shows the quality of post-operative care provided by the Indian health service providers. "All the three services are collating their requirement for the Sea Guardian armed drones which will give us a strong capability in terms of high altitude long endurance unmanned aerial vehicles and also enhance our capabilities to carry out surveillance," government sources told ANI. 
 
They said since some of the capability requirements of the three services would be different from each other, their collation would take a few months and a Letter of Request is expected to be issued to the American government for the government-to-government deal by the February-March time frame. 
 
The Trump administration had approved the sale of armed drones to India in June this year and offered it to be equipped with required missiles and other systems. 
 
Earlier, among the three services, only the Navy seemed to be interested in the procurement but now all the three services are showing interest in the project, the sources said. 
 
The project is expected to cost over USD 4.5 billion to the defence services. 
 
Once the Letter of Request (similar to a Request for Proposal) is issued to the American government for the deal under its Foreign Military Sales route, the American side would send the Letter of Acceptance in which it will specify the terms and conditions for the project. 
 
The other major deal in the pipeline is the project for the acquisition of the 10 P-8I anti-submarine warfare and long-range surveillance aircraft which would be adding to the existing fleet of 12 such planes in the Indian Navy. 
 
The sources said the project was supposed to be fielded before the Defence Acquisition Council in its last meeting but was withheld due to some reasons. "Now the proposal is expected to be put up before the DAC again in the next meeting," the sources said. 
 
The P-8I planes are expected to cost around USD 3 billion. These planes would also be acquired under the FMS route once it gets final approval from the Cabinet Committee on Security headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 
 
In the last over one decade, India has inducted a large number of American defence hardware including Apache attack choppers, Chinook heavy-lift Helicopters, C-17 Globemaster and C-130J Super Hercules Transport aircraft, M-777 ultra-light howitzers and AN-TPQ weapon locating radars. 
 
The two sides are also in discussions for the NASAMS air defence system for providing protection to the national capital region.

Chikhale had been expecting a bumper crop, but now estimates that two-thirds of the soybean pods on her farm in Kalamb village were knocked off by the rains, while much of the remaining crop has been damaged.

The recent wet spell is also forcing farmers, like Chikhale, to delay sowing winter crops, placing a further drag on the rural economy at a time when&nbsp;India's economic growth has slumped to a six-year low.

After the ample monsoon rains, The Solvent Extractors' Association (SEA) had expected&nbsp;India&nbsp;soybean harvest to be more than 10 million tonnes, just a little down on 2018's 10.3 million tonnes.

But heavy recent rains damaged the crop in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, which account for more than 85 per cent&nbsp;of&nbsp;India's output, and forced the trade body to cut that estimate to below 9 million tonnes, said BV&nbsp;Mehta, executive director of the SEA.

As a result, local soybean prices have risen to their highest in 3-1/2 years, making exports of soymeal uncompetitive, traders said.

Lower soybean production could force&nbsp;India, the world's biggest importer of edible oils, to import more in 2019/20 marketing year that started on October 1, said a Mumbai-based dealer with a global trading firm.

Singer Dua Lipa who landed in Mumbai on Saturday is really excited about her upcoming music festival. An ecstatic 'New Rules' singer, who learned the art of draping a saree while on her trip to Jaipur, expressed happiness overcoming back for a show to India. 
 
She shared a picture from her last trip where she can be seen interacting from the local people in a blue embroidered saree.

"In Jaipur last year being taught how to wear a saree. So happy to be in Mumbai today! See you all for the show!!!" she captioned the pictures on Instagram.&nbsp;

Days after American pop singer Katy Perry landed in India, Lipa who is set to share the stage with the crooner, documented her trip to Mumbai.

As her flight was touching down at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport's runway early this morning, the singer shared a still on Instagram, documenting the scene writing, "Landed in Mumbai". 
 
For the 24-year-old, this isn't her first trip to the subcontinent. She has vacationed to India last year in October with boyfriend Isaac Crew during which the two explored a number of places. 
 
She even chronicled her stay in places including Ranthambore, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kerala, and Goa on social media. Meanwhile, Perry, who already landed in the city days ago has been relishing her time.

Dua Lipa is happy to be in Mumbai, shares experience on social media

The Foreign Minister of Bhutan, Tandi Dorji will be visiting India for five days starting November 17.

Dorji is expected to arrive in New Delhi tomorrow morning. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, he will meet Indian Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale in the evening.

On November 18, Dorji will hold talks with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar at Hyderabad House.&nbsp;

After taking charge of the ministry, Jaishankar went on a two-day bilateral visit to Bhutan in June this year. 
 
On Tuesday, the Bhutanese Minister will fly to Bodh Gaya in Bihar to attend a two-day programme.

The dignitary has a long trip planned in the country. On Thursday, he will travel to Kolkata to meet West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee,

This will be followed by a programme in Kolkata. After this, Dorji will return to Bhutan next Saturday.
