The technology will also help in purifying the air quality as it will mitigate 1,30,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually.&nbsp;

The project has been implemented by Indore Clean Energy Pvt Ltd, a Special Purpose Vehicle set up by Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) and Indo Enviro Integrated Solutions Ltd. (IEISL).&nbsp;

Gold bars from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and jewellery from India, are two key items that are getting significant duty cuts under the India-UAE Free trade agreement, which was signed amid much fanfare in Delhi on Friday.&nbsp;

Commerce Secretary B V R Subrahmanyam speaking to a group of reporters on Saturday said, "We are a major importer of gold. India imports 800 tons of gold every year. To UAE, we have given Tariff rate quota (TRQ) of 200 tons, with tariff in perpetuity will be one per cent less, than whatever is the tariff charged to the rest of the world".&nbsp;

This gives UAE 1 per cent price advantage in gold bars, which gives the west Asian country an upper hand in gold trade with India.

On India's side, the big gain is that Indian jewellery gets zero duty access to the UAE market. UAE currently has a 5 per cent duty on Indian jewellery which will be done away with when the FTA comes into implementation in the first week of May.&nbsp;

Overall, the gems and jewellery sector will get an edge with international jewellery operations, which is expected to shift to India from Singapore and Hong Kong.&nbsp;

Secretary Subrahmanyam explained, "UAE becomes a very big entry point for us to enter into rest of the world, Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia. The jewellery sector is gung ho".&nbsp;

As per estimates, Indian jewellery export can increase by 200 per cent in the next 3 years.

The FTA or Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), aims at increasing the bilateral non-oil trade between the 2 countries to $100 billion annually. Currently, the trade stands at $60 billion.&nbsp;

This is India's first comprehensive trade agreement in a decade and under the deal, duty gets eliminated on 80 per cent of tariff lines.

UAE Economy Minister Abdulla bin Touq Al-Marri in response to WION's question after the signing of the pact said, "Everyone is on reform part for the economy given that we have gone through pandemic that has hit the world...this agreement comes at an early stage of the year, it really gives recovery for the economy"

Substantial net gains for India have particularly been in labour-intensive industries - gems and jewellery, textiles, leather, footwear, sports goods, plastics, furniture, agricultural and wood products, engineering products, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, and automobiles. Indian exporters will gain market access in the UAE but also provide wider access to the much larger Arab and African markets.

Highlighting how the pact opens markets for Indian goods, Indian trade minister Piyush Goyal said, "UAE, over the year, has built a reputation of a trading hub on which people have the faith that it works seamlessly, very smoothly and created the strong backbone of financial systems, port system, logistics chain and deepening of exports will certainly help us gain access to other countries".

Interestingly, a separate annexe on pharmaceuticals has been incorporated to facilitate access to Indian pharmaceutical products by giving them regulatory approval in 90 days.&nbsp;

"As far as the Asian Games in Hangzhou is concerned, a final decision on whether to send both men's and women's teams will be taken later and based on our existing commitments," BCCI secretary Jay Shah told Reuters.

The Games coincides with the women team's limited-overs tour of England where they are scheduled to play three one-dayers and an equal number of Twenty20 Internationals.

Hosting India is a lucrative proposition for any board and Shah said honouring bilateral commitment was particularly important in a post-coronavirus world. 
"The BCCI has always stood by member boards and helped them in these difficult times," Shah said.

"The board firmly believes in honouring its bilateral commitments.

"We are committed to our fans here in India and it is absolutely important that we safeguard our home season.

"The FTP that has been created needs to be adhered to," he said referring to the game`s Future Tours Programme calendar.

This is the second such public acknowledgement from Washington that the matter has been discussed with New Delhi.&nbsp;

Earlier in January, Deputy Secretary of state Wendy Sherman discussed the matter with India's foreign secretary Harsh Shringla. The Ministry of external affairs also confirmed the issue being discussed.&nbsp;

Ministry of external affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi called "honest conversation" a "good description" of the issue being discussed. He said, "it was an exchange of views on how we see it".&nbsp;

India has made two statements at the United Nations Security Council on the matter calling for dialogue and de-escalation.

Meanwhile, the European Union has been sharing its perspective with India.&nbsp;

The development is important as EAM Jaishankar will be in Europe from February 18 to 23, and will visit Germany and France.&nbsp;

In Germany, EAM will take part in Munich Security Conference and participate in a panel discussion on the Indo-Pacific. Later, he will visit Paris to take part in the EU ministerial forum for cooperation in the Indo-Pacific on February 22. He will hold a bilateral with French foreign minister Jean-Yves Le Drian.&nbsp;

The visit to Europe will be closely watched given it happens in the shadow of the Ukraine crisis. The Indian foreign minister is expected to hold a whole host of bilateral meetings, including with a number of European FMs.&nbsp;He will also be part of the much-awaited Australia, India, Indonesia foreign ministers trilateral.&nbsp;

The victims, all women and children, were sitting on a metal slab that covered the well when it fell beneath their weight, according to police.

The tragedy, which occurred in Nebua Naurangia village in Kushinagar district, resulted in the injuries of ten more people.

Following the tragedy, the bereaved family announced that they would not participate in the 'baraat' (groom's wedding procession).

The groom, Amit Kushwaha, was the only one who travelled to the wedding.

The groom's father, Parmeshwar Kushwaha, stated that the pre-wedding ceremony of "Matkorba" on the occasion of "Haldi" was in progress beside an old and damaged well in the village, approximately 10 kilometres from Kushinagar district headquarters, when disaster struck.&nbsp;

Some women and children were sitting on the iron grille when it suddenly broke and they fell into the well, District Magistrate (DM) S Rajalingam said.

Narrating the incident, Kushwaha said, "Actually, the well is old and it was covered with a slab. During the ritual, the girls were standing on the slab when it broke and they all fell inside the well. "

"It is heartbreaking and I have decided that no procession will go with my son for the wedding. Only the groom will go and get married in a very simple manner as we are not in the state to celebrate, "he added.

"We were singing and dancing when suddenly the slab broke and, within seconds, we all fell into the well. I was drowning in the well, but somehow I was rescued, "a woman from the village said.

Ramesh Chaurasia lost his wife, Mamta Devi. His brother's wife, Shakuntala Devi, and two-year-old daughter Pari Chaurasia, are also among the dead.

"I don't know what to do or say as I have lost three family members. My wife died, and I don't know how I'm going to survive. I was not with them, as the programme was meant for women. We all tried to save them, and many of the women and girls were rescued by the villagers, but the ambulance was very late, "he said.

Inspector Girjesh Upadhaya arrived at the scene after receiving information about the terrible incident.

All 23 people who had fallen into the well were rescued and taken to the hospital by police and townspeople.

Doctors declared thirteen of them dead, according to officials.

Senior administrative and law enforcement personnel also arrived at the scene.

In the tragedy, no one from Kushwaha's family died.
