Indian traders are struggling to export cotton despite higher production as farmers are delaying sale of their harvest hoping for higher prices in coming months, industry officials told Reuters.

The limited supplies are keeping local prices significantly above the global benchmark, making overseas sales unviable from the world's biggest producer of the fibre.

"Harvesting of the new crop started last month, but many farmers are not willing to sell. They are holding crop hoping prices would rise like the last season," said Atul Ganatra, president of the Cotton Association of India (CAI).

Farmers received record prices for their last season's crop, but the new crop is unlikely to get the same prices as local production has risen and global prices have fallen, Ganatra said.

Cotton prices hit a record high of rupees 52,410 rupees per 170 kg in June, tracking a rally in global prices and as production fell. But prices have corrected nearly 40% from the peak.

"Last year we sold raw cotton at 8,000 rupees (per 100 kg) and later prices jumped to 13,000 rupees," said Babulal Patel, a farmer from western state of Gujarat, the country's biggest cotton producer. "This year we are not going to repeat the mistake. We are not going to sell below 10,000 rupees," he said.

Farmers used proceeds from the last few seasons' harvests to create storage facilities, which they are using to store the crop, Ashwini Bansod, head, commodities research at Phillip Capital India Pvt Ltd, said.

Despite higher output, spot markets were receiving nearly a third lower in supplies than normal, industry officials estimated.

India could produce 34.4 million bales of cotton in the 2022/23 season that started on Oct. 1, up 12% from a year ago.

India traders so far in the new season have contracted 70,000 bales for the exports, significantly lower than more than 500,000 bales contracted during the same period a year ago, said a dealer with a global trading house.

Bangladesh, Vietnam and China are among the key buyers of Indian cotton.

Exports are unlikely to gain momentum unless local prices fall or global prices move higher, said the dealer, adding "Indian cotton is holding premium of around 18 cents per lb over New York futures. The premium needs to come down to 5-10 cents to make exports viable."

In an effort to increase both its market share and worldwide network, Air India will start offering premium economy on a few of its long-haul&nbsp;overseas flights starting&nbsp;next month, according to the airline's CEO Campbell Wilson. Wilson stated in his address at a JRD Tata Memorial Trust event in Mumbai that the airline will raise its market share to at least 30 per cent&nbsp;on both domestic&nbsp;and international flights.

The airline is putting its long-term resuscitation strategy into play, and over the next five years, it plans to increase both the size of its wide-body and narrow-body fleets and the size of its international network.

"The short-term actions have been to replace carpets, curtains, seat cushions, and covers. To fix defective seats and inflight entertainment systems as fast as supply chains will allow. And where parts are no longer available in the market, to work with the likes of Tata Technologies to design and manufacture parts ourselves."

"We've recently completely revamped the domestic inflight menu, and will be doing likewise, as well as launching premium economy on certain long-haul international flights next month," the Air India CEO and MD said.

Khan is the only nuno felting artisan in India and has been able to unite the two crafts together to give a new life to the traditional crafts of Kashmir. Nuno felting is a technique that bonds loose fibre, usually sheep's wool, into sheer fabric like silk, etc.

It was developed in Australia decades ago and now a Kashmiri artisan has incorporated the same technique while making traditional Kashmiri Namda and silk scarves. It took Khan months to learn the craft and later make unique products now sold across the world.&nbsp;

''I started learning this technique four&nbsp;years ago and I have been selling these products for the last two years. I was helped by an organisation called Connect to Kashmir, which showed me how nuno felting was done. Then I tried mixing the two techniques for making a Kashmiri Namda. I failed the first time, tried the second time, and failed again. I knew I would be able to do it but needed time and every day after finishing my work every day, I used to sit and work on it, and finally, after two years I was able to make the products. I have made jackets, silk scarves, namdas, and shawls which are extremely light,'' said&nbsp;Khan.&nbsp;

Khan's family has been in Namda making crafts for decades, and it was his own curiosity that led to so many new designs and techniques being incorporated into the traditional art of Kashmir. He says that he doesn't sell these products at expensive prices as he loves making them.&nbsp;

''I have been making Namda since my childhood. I learned the craft from my Dad and uncle as they were artisans of Namda too. I was working in Kargil and saw a Namda there which led to a little curiosity about making something new. It didn't take me much time to learn, but I failed a lot of times before making it a success. I am extremely happy that I am making new things, I don't even sell these products at very expensive rates, as making them gives me the most happiness. ''said Farooq Khan, Artisan.&nbsp;

Khan has been working on these new additions and techniques with a private craft organization and is not happy with the government for not providing any support to further boost this craft. Khan has to travel outside Kashmir valley to get the raw material for making these products. He says that he went to the government many times asking for making the raw material available to the artisans in the valley. But no one has done anything about it.&nbsp;

''The main issue is the wool. They have great quality wool and yarn in a country like Nepal, but we don't have anything available in Kashmir. The government is not helping us at all. I wanted colored wool for making these products and went to the government many times to make it available to the artisans in the valley. But they have not done it. We have to go to Ludhiana to get this and that too has to be bought in bulk even when making samples. It is a very expensive deal for us, and I had requested the government to make it available so that we could buy from them. '' said Farooq Khan, Artisan.&nbsp;

Its artisans like Farooq, are not only incorporating the new designs and techniques into the traditional arts and crafts of Kashmir but also making sure that the art lives forever.

Prarambh, which means "the beginning" and denotes a new era for the private space industry, is the name given to the mission by the Hyderabad-based rocket start-up.

The chief operating officer of Skyroot, Naga Bharath Daka, described the Vikram-S rocket as a single-stage sub-orbital launch vehicle that would be able to transport three client payloads and assist test and verifying most of the technology in the Vikram family of space launch vehicles.

Three rockets, dubbed Vikram I, II, and III, are part of the "Vikram" series. Broadband internet, GPS, and Internet of Things (IoT) from orbit and imagery of the planet will all be supported by these rockets.

According to Skyroot, "The leading technology architecture of Vikram vehicles offers unique capabilities like multi-orbit insertion, interplanetary missions; while providing customised, dedicated and rideshare options covering a wide spectrum of small satellite customer needs.”

According to Skyroot, the Vikram series is engineered to be manufactured and launched in less than 72 hours and has the "lowest cost in the payload sector."

These rockets are capable of launching satellites into sun-synchronous polar orbits and low Earth orbits that may weigh up to 815 kg each (SSPOs).

<h2>The highlight of the mission</h2>

Three customer satellites from Skyroot Aerospace will be launched aboard Vikram S in a sub-orbital flight as part of the Prarambh project. Three client payloads will be carried by Vikram S during this mission, which will also assist in the testing and validation of technologies for the Vikram family of space launch vehicles.

The 2.5-kilogramme payload "Fun-Sat," which was created by kids from India, the US, Singapore, and Indonesia, will also be launched on board Vikram S by Spacekidz, an aerospace firm located in Chennai.

The 66-year-old con man was nabbed by the Odisha police for his wrongdoings while he was travelling in a car in the Indian city of Bhubaneswar.&nbsp;

Taking undue advantage of his condition, the woman stole his gold chain and mobile phone of the man worth Rs 1.10 lakh. The man later lodged a complaint and the woman was booked. Youth across the globe are constantly swiping their screens to find a suitable match. Not all who hook up online hold a bad experience but thousands get trapped, duped to end up bitter.&nbsp;

In a cheating case filed in Karnataka, a woman took money from a man she met on Tinder. She posed as a wellness therapist on an online dating site. The two met on Tinder. One day, the man told the woman that he was stressed. Tapping the iron when it's hot, she told the man about his Instagram page and claimed to be a wellness therapist. Throughout the lockdown imposed due to Covid-19, the man took wellness therapy classes through Instagram. He even paid the woman Rs 3.15 lakh. Later, the man insisted on meeting her but she refused and then blocked him. The man later found that the woman had as many as 15 social media profiles. He&nbsp;finally took the matter&nbsp;to court and filed a case against the woman. As per media reports, the Karnataka High Court recently refused to quash the cheating case filed against the woman.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday will deliver the inaugural address at the third 'No Money for Terror'&nbsp;(NMFT) Ministerial Conference on Counter-Terrorism Financing.

Asked about the presence of Pakistan and Afghanistan in the conference, the NIA Director General said, "Pakistan and Afghanistan are not participating in this conference".

On a query over the presence of China in the international event on terror financing, Secretary West (MEA) Sanjay Verma said "the participation of China is not yet confirmed".
