<p>Experts also pointed out that fewer tomatoes were planted this year as the farmers went for cash crops.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Ahead of the extended Independence Day holiday weekend, the National Cooperative Consumers' Federation of India (NCCF) sold 71,500 kilogrammes of tomatoes at subsidised rate over a two-day mega sale event in Delhi to bring relief to the consumers.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Out of 71,500 kg of tomatoes, 36,500 kg were sold on August 12 while the remaining 35,000 kg was sold on August 13. On both days, the vegetable was sold at a subsidised rate of Rs 70 per kg,&nbsp;</p>

<p>Since July 11, NCCF, acting on behalf of the Consumer Affairs Ministry, has been selling tomatoes at discounted rates to ease inflation.</p>

<p>According a CNBC Awaaz report in June, the family was expected to sell between five&nbsp;per cent and eight&nbsp;per cent of its ownership for up to 75 billion rupees (about $900 million).</p>

<p>As of March 31, Rakesh and Shobha Gangwal owned 13.23 per cent and 2.99 per cent of InterGlobe, respectively, while their Chinkerpoo Family Trust owned 13.5 per cent of the company, according to exchange data from June.</p>

<p>In February, Shobha Gangwal decreased her stake in the company by more than four&nbsp;per cent.</p>

<p>When Rakesh Gangwal left the company’s board in February 2022, he said that he would to reduce his stake in the airline over a five-year period.</p>

Wishes pour in from across the world as India celebrates its 77th Independence Day

<p>One person has died and three have been rescued while a few others might still be trapped under the wreckage of a building that collapsed near the subsidence-affected region of Joshimath in Chamoli district in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, news agencies reported. The incident took place late evening on Tuesday, August 15, in Helang village, situated along the Badrinath highway connecting Pipalkoti and Joshimath.</p>

<h2><strong>Collapse of two-storey house&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>The Kotwali Joshimath police station informed the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) regarding the unfortunate event in which a two-storey house, located adjacent to a crusher unit on the banks of the Alaknanda River, crumbled.</p>

<h2><strong>Rescue efforts&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>Promptly responding to the alert, the SDRF team arrived at the scene. The SDRF managed to successfully rescue three people from the debris. They immediately transferred them to a nearby medical facility.</p>

<p>As per reports, seven labourers were inside the house at the time of the deadly incident. Efforts are underway to locate any additional trapped individuals.</p>
