India has asked Canada to put forward a framework to prevent attacks on places of worship and also effectively address hate crimes and hate speech.

While speaking at the UN Human Rights Council Review meeting, Indian diplomat Mohammed Hussain called on Canada to strengthen measures to avert activities of groups promoting extremism.

"India recommends the following to Canada - further strengthen the domestic framework to prevent misuse of freedom of expression, for inciting violence and disallow activities of groups that are promoting extremism; effectively prevent attacks on places of worship of religious and racial minorities, strengthen legislative and other measures to address hate crimes and hate speech," said Hussain addressing the UNHRC review meeting.

He further noted the enactment of the National Housing Strategy Act, the Accessible Canada Act, and the National Strategy in Canada, which was introduced to combat human trafficking.

On Monday (Nov 13), Manipur DGP Anil Shukla confirmed one refugee's death, with around 20 Myanmar nationals hospitalised in Mizoram. These individuals had sustained injuries in Myanmar and crossed the border for medical treatment. By Monday evening, 20 injured people were admitted to the Champhai district hospital, and an additional eight were referred to hospitals in Aizawl.

“Everyone from the two villages of Rikhawdar and Khawmami has come to the Indian side. So, the movement of people has stopped for now… Three people who have been injured in Indian territory are people who crossed over to Zokhawthar earlier. One of them has died. He had been living on the Indian side since last year,” he told the Indian Express.&nbsp;

It is the amount of this material that you breathe in that is related to various health impacts, including asthma, damage to the lungs, and potentially lead to diseases. He adds that, from a research perspective more studies are needed to identify the direct health effects of different sources of air pollution, like pollution from burning agricultural fields would be different from dust in a construction zone.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Nonetheless, the polluted air, laden with heavy metals and carcinogens, is raising the incidence of chronic lung diseases and cancer. This health emergency is disrupting the economy, with increased absenteeism and halted construction impacting livelihoods, especially for daily wage earners. Social life and cultural vibrancy are dampened, and the city's greenery and wildlife suffer too. The smog tarnishes Delhi's global image, affecting tourism and investments, and posing a challenge to sustainability efforts. India on November 12 celebrated the festive of light Deepavali and many world leaders conveyed their warm wishes to the country on the occasion.&nbsp;Jaishankar also visited Swaminarayan Mandir in London on the auspicious day along with his wife and addressed the Indian diaspora present there.&nbsp;

Jaishankar arrived in the UK on Saturday (Nov 11) and is set to hold a meeting with his counterpart James Cleverly. The visit will conclude on November 15. The meeting between Jaishankar and Sunak comes days after Indian PM Narendra Modi and Sunak held a telephonic conversation on November 3 and discussed the progress of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
