<p>Indian capital city of Delhi on Wednesday (Dec 13) recorded the worst air quality for December with a 24-hour average Air Quality Index (AQI) of 378, a number that demonstrates "very poor" air quality, media reports said citing official figures.&nbsp;According to the data released by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), few areas in Delhi were in the "severe" air quality category.&nbsp;</p>

<p>AQI is a scale to measure the level of air pollution in any given region. AQI is considered to be in the "good" category if it remains between 0 and 50. Additionally, between 51 and 100 is&nbsp;"satisfactory", 101 and 200 "moderate", 201 and 300 "poor", 301 and 400 "very poor", 401 and 450 "severe", and above 450 is "severe-plus" category, representing the highest level of pollution on the measuring scale.&nbsp;</p>

<p>With winter temperatures continuing to soar, the pollution levels are also rising. After the rains on December 3, there was a brief improvement in pollution levels in parts of Delhi. However, since then the AQI has remained in the "very poor" or "severe" category.&nbsp;</p>

<p>December 13 was the 7th straight day when the AQI was on the&nbsp;"very poor" scale. It was 355, which is "very poor", on Tuesday (December 12).&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Chilling temperatures and calm winds</strong></h2>

<p>The temperatures in Delhi have been gradually decreasing. Cold temperatures compounded with calm winds have been a contributing factor in the deteriorating air quality in the capital city.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 6.5°C on December 11. This was a further drop from the 8.3 degrees Celsius which was recorded on Sunday (Dec 10). The temperature was 9.2°C on Saturday (Dec 9).&nbsp;</p>

<p>As per Met officials quoted by media reports, the wind speeds are expected to pick up on Thursday (Dec 14) to 20km/hour. This, according to the officials, will help in containing the deteriorating air quality.</p>

Pictures doing the rounds indicate that the crocodile was lying by the road, in the vegetation adjoining a compound wall. <p>The members of the Indian parliament who witnessed a massive security breach on Wednesday (Dec 13) recalled how the incident unfolded. The two men, who were sitting in the visitors' gallery, had jumped into the Lok Sabha which led to a massive security scare on the 2001 Parliament attack's anniversary. The two men were caught by the MPs and security personnel and detained by the Delhi Police, who are currently interrogating them.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Recalling the security scare, BSP MP Ram Shiromani Verma said an Aadhaar card with a Lucknow address, which belonged to one of the two intruders, was found by the security personnel.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Speaking about the incident, Verma said that the parliament was filled with smoke after one of the men opened a canister which emitted yellow smoke. "All MPs beat him up and caught him and handed him to the security," he added, as reported by Hindustan Times.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He added that the intruders were raising the “tanashahi nahi chalegi” (down with dictatorship) slogan. Verma stated that the canister was stuffed by the man in the shoes along with a paper.</p>

<p>MP Hanuman Beniwal said that he was among the first people who caught hold of them. "When we caught hold of one of them, he took out something from his shoe, emanating smoke. Later the second person was also caught," the MP said.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Police seize&nbsp;some material from intruders</strong></h2>

<p>Meanwhile, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that some material had been seized by the police from them.</p>

<p>"A thorough investigation of the incident that took place during zero hour, is being done. Essential instructions have also been given to the Delhi Police. In the primary investigation, it has been found that it was just smoke and there is no need to worry about it," he said.</p>

<p>Congress MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla, who had caught the two men when they jumped from the visitors' gallery into the House, narrating the incident, said, "He had something in his hand which was emitting yellow-coloured smoke. I snatched it away and threw it outside...This is a major security breach."</p>

<p>Congress MP Karti Chidambaram said that one of the intruders tried to run towards the chair of the speaker.</p>

<p>"Suddenly two young men around 20 years old jumped into the House from the visitor's gallery and had canisters in their hand. These canisters were emitting yellow smoke. One of them was attempting to run towards the Speaker's chair. They were shouting some slogans. The smoke could have been poisonous. This is a serious breach of security, especially, on 13th December, the day when Parliament was attacked in 2001," he narrated.</p>
