All India Football Federation (AIFF) has written a letter to FIFA and&nbsp;AFC (Asian Football Confederation), urging for investigation and sporting compensation after India lost out on a place in the third round of World Cup Qualifiers due to a controversial 'ghost goal' in the match against Qatar.&nbsp;

AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey said although the result had been accepted 'gracefully',&nbsp;one of the two goals scored against India left a few questions unanswered.

"After the game against Qatar, in consultation with our Chief Refereeing Officer, [we] decided to write to the FIFA Head of Qualifiers, the AFC Head of Referees, the AFC Head of Competitions, and the Match Commissioner for the game, requesting them to look into the grave supervision error caused during the game that practically cost us a place in FIFA World Cup Qualifiers Round 3," Chaubey stated.&nbsp;

Given the severity of the issue that may peg back Indian football by a few years, Chaubey urged the concerned officials to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.

"Furthermore, we have urged them to explore the possibilities of sporting compensation to address the injustice. Ensuring the integrity of the game is paramount, we truly trust that the FIFA and the AFC will take necessary steps in this regard," he added.&nbsp;

'Grave supervision error': Indian football federation writes to FIFA over Qatar's 'ghost goal'

Indian men's football team head coach, Igor Stimac has claimed that the upcoming World Cup qualifier match against Kuwait could change the 'careers' of his players. India desperately need a win to keep their hopes alive of qualifying for the third round of World Cup qualifiers but the recent form suggests that the home side will have to play out of their skins to make it happen.&nbsp;

The match, scheduled for Thursday (Jun 6) at the iconic Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata would pit the two teams who have met on three occasions in the last year.&nbsp;

"It's a huge game. The careers of the boys can change with this game. I want them to enjoy and do their best in the game," Stimac told the All India Football Federation (AIFF).&nbsp;

"For such an important game, we need to do a few things; in regards to strength conditioning, in regards to understanding what it needs, in regards to how important this game is, and in regards to mental strength and self-confidence. So, we work on all aspects needed for our boys to be on top of their form in this game," he added.&nbsp;

India had a disastrous outing in the last World Cup qualifier match against Afghanistan at home, early this year. The Blue Tigers suffered a&nbsp;humiliating 1-2 loss against Afghanistan's B-team coached by Ashley Westwood.&nbsp;

Throughout the match, there were sporadic chants of 'Stimac Out' which increased in intensity after Afghanistan clinched a late victory. Fans outside the stadium could be seen jeering the Croatian in some of the videos going viral on social media.&nbsp;

After India conceded two second-half goals to lose the match, the fans partook in the 'Viking Clap' celebrations by the Afghan side to show defiance towards the footballing board.&nbsp;

This was India's second win in two games after beating Pakistan 4-0 in the previous game. With six points in two games, India are all but through the semifinals of the tournament. They are currently at the second spot in Group A.

Apart from India, Pakistan and Nepal, Kuwait are the fourth team in Group A. Notably, Kuwait have also won their both games against Nepal and Pakistan and are set to be the other semifinalist from Group A. &nbsp;Kuwait, however, are the group leaders with seven goals in two games against India's six. India and Kuwait although, will face off on June 27 in their last group game.

In Group B, the four teams, that is, Lebanon, Bangladesh, Maldives and Bhutan, have played just one game each. Lebanon and Maldives won their respective games against Bangladesh and Bhutan, respectively.

The semifinals of the SAFF Championship will be played on Saturday, July 1 and the final will take place on Tuesday, July 4.

The Indian men's national football team has announced the 25-member squad that will travel to Bahrain to play friendly matches against the home team and Belarus.

For the record it's the maiden call up for 7 players for their first National Senior Team assignment - Prabhshukhan Gill, Hormipam Ruivah, Anwar Ali, Roshan Singh, VP Suhair, Danish Farooq, and Aniket Yadav.

The Blue Tigers will face the hosts, Bahrain, on March 23 and Belarus on March 26. Both the matches are set to kick-off at 9.30 PM IST. The squad is expected to fly to Bahrain on Monday.

The two friendlies are part of the team's preparation for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers in June, later this year.

India will be playing all of their 2023 AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers matches in Kolkata, from June 8 onwards.

The Blue Tigers are placed with Afghanistan, Hong Kong, and Cambodia in Group D. The 24 teams are divided into six groups and group toppers along with the five best second-placed teams will make the cut for the showpiece event.

"We are playing Bahrain and Belarus, and they are better-ranked sides than us. But whatever the rankings are, you need to do it on the pitch. Bahrain will show us where we stand. We will give chances to some young players who have played well in the Hero ISL this season to see how much we can use them for the qualifiers in June," Head Coach Igor Stimac stated.

The Indian women's football team went down 1-2 to Venezuela at the Arena da Amazonia and ended its campaign in the four-nation tournament, where they played higher-ranked teams including heavyweights Brazil, without a win.

Ranked a place below Venezuela in the FIFA rankings at 57th, India entered their final game of the tour aiming for a positive result.

However, that was not to be as the women from Venezuela came out triumphant after falling behind in the first half.

India took an early lead through Grace Dangmei and ended the first half with a one-goal lead.

But the Venezuelans made a fine comeback in the second half and ran out 2-1 winners after Mariana and Barbara scored for the South American side in a hard-fought game.

Mariana, especially, has made a lot of difference in the second half with her speed.

Barbara struck in the 80th minute to put the Venezuelans in lead, which they maintained until the final whistle.

The equaliser came in the 50th minute when Mariana found the back of the net from point-blank range.

The Indian scored the only goal of the first half&nbsp;in the 17th minute through a set-piece when Ritu Rani's ball was met by Grace. The goal opened up the game as Venezuela looked for an equaliser.

Venezuela pressed hard and put India under pressure but their Indian defence, including Aditi Chauhan, was up to the task.

Preparing for next month's AFC Asian Cup, which they will host, India finished the four-nation tournament in Brazil with 3 losses but the experience they gained from this tournament could prove to be handy when the continental tournament takes place.

In their earlier matches, India lost to Chile 1-3 and Brazil 1-6.
