Ahead of the meeting, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi has insisted that the board remains 'clear' in its view that any decision on hosting the marquee tournament should be made based on 'equality'. Further, he backed Jay Shah -- who is set to step down as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chief and take over as ICC chairman early next month -- would take a fair call with India adamant to not travel to Pakistan for CT 2025.&nbsp;

"Our stance is very clear," Naqvi said while addressing a press conference held at the Gaddafi Stadium&nbsp;on Thursday morning (Nov 28), "I promise we'll do what is best for Pakistan cricket. I'm constantly in touch with the ICC chairman and my team is talking to them constantly. We're still clear in our stance that it's not acceptable that we play cricket in India, and they don't play cricket here. Whatever will happen, will happen based on equality. We've told the ICC very clearly, and what happens next we'll let you know."

Notably, CT 2025 is set to be held across three venues in Pakistan. However, India have not travelled to their neighbouring country since 2008, due to political tension, and their government has once again denied them permission (also happened during the 2023 Asia Cup). Thus, the final schedule of the tournament hasn't been out. As ICC is eager to put an end to all this commotion, Naqvi stated that PCB will not accept a 'hybrid model' and do 'what is best for Pakistan cricket'.

Naqvi had earlier said, "Our stance is clear: they (BCCI) need to give us in writing any objections they may have. Until now, no discussion of the hybrid model has happened, nor are we prepared to accept one."

PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf to push for Pakistan to play ODI WC games at neutral venues during ICC meeting

Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ramiz Raja is all set to table a proposal for a four-nation tournament involving India at the upcoming ICC Board Meeting but the BCCI is unlikely to play ball.

As per the current ICC rule, a member board can host a tri-nation tournament at the most as only the global body has the right to organize an event which involves more than three countries.

But Ramiz's 'white-paper' proposes that ICC run the tournament annually with a projected revenue of USD 750 million for the parent body from media rights and other commercial activities.

India have been pencilled as one of the four participating sides in the four-Nations T20 Super League Series proposal, which Ramiz plans to table at the April 10 ICC Board meeting in Dubai.

Australia and England are the other participating sides in the proposal, which, if goes through, will see the Asian neighbours compete at the highest level on an annual basis.

The event host, the concept (white) paper says, will be decided amongst the four participants, with each participating side to stage the tournament on a rotation basis with ICC like its other global events running the tournament.

However, it has been learnt that BCCI is unlikely to relent.

"Our Futures Tours &amp; Programme (FTP) is packed. Also the fact that there are lot of factors and as of now, there is no change in policy of playing them at ICC events. Also, we don't think ICC will be ready to organize a four-nation and Raja's proposal will be turned down," a senior BCCI official said.

India and Pakistan have played each other only in ICC or ACC events since 2012 when the last bilateral white-ball series was held.

Recently, BCCI secretary Jay Shah had stated in an interview to a foreign news agency that board is currently more focussed on honouring its bilateral commitments.

"The calender is choc-a-bloc and also we need to keep players physical and mental health in mind with so much of cricket being played,' the official said.

According to proposal prepared by Ramiz, "the quadrangular series will be played on a single-league basis around September/October, which is a low cricket period due to the eve of cricket seasons in Australia, India and Pakistan, and the tail-end of the cricket season in England.

"The proposal suggests a potential revenue of USD 750 million, which the PCB boss wants to be distributed amongst the participating nations and other ICC members through a distribution model," a PCB source told PTI.

While Ramiz wants ICC to be the organizers of such an event, PCB sources feel that it will in no way undermine the global events.

"It is not an attempt to undermine the ICC Events or the ICC Events Cycle. The ICC tried the Super Series in 2005, so there is no harm in testing waters for another event," the source said.

Former South African captain Shaun Pollock is of the view that cricket can resume normally and the usage of saliva won’t post any health risk if matches are played inside ‘bio-secure’ environment. Earlier, the ICC Cricket Committee had recommended a ban on the use of saliva to polish the ball but allowed sweat as a measure to curb the COVID-19 threat.&nbsp;

England will create a bio-secure environment in a bid to host the West Indies for a three-match series starting July 8, subject to the UK government clearance. And Pollock reckons such measures wouldn’t require banning the usage of saliva.&nbsp;

“I think the environment that’ll end up being created is almost going to be like a bubble. People will get tested, they’ll go into a two-week camp where they’re just going to sit and monitor how the conditions of their bodies change,” Pollock told the ‘Following On Cricket Podcast’.

“And if there are no symptoms, it doesn’t really matter about shining the ball then, because you’re in the bubble and no one you come into contact with will have coronavirus. So you can just get on with normal proceedings.”

The ECB is gearing up to put up a set of safety measures including playing matches in venues with on-site hotels and compulsory 14-day quarantine period for the visiting team.&nbsp;

The ICC Board members are set to meet via video conference on Friday in a bid to discuss plans for its numerous tournaments in the wake of the novel coronavirus pandemic. The COVID-19 outbreak has not only left the entire sporting calendar shattered but has also brought almost the entire world to a standstill.&nbsp;

While a PTI reports states that a couple of ICC Board members have confirmed that no concrete decisions are expected on Friday, the meeting is important to discuss the contingency plans amid the COVID-19 pandemic.&nbsp;

ICC’s biggest tournament in the year 2020 is the Men’s T20 World Cup which is scheduled to be held in October-November in Australia.
