The all-important meeting of the International Cricket Council (ICC) is set to be held on Wednesday with the Board members expected to discuss some key points including the fate of the T20 World Cup 2020.
The all-important meeting of the International Cricket Council (ICC) is set to be held on Wednesday with the Board members expected to discuss some key points including the fate of the T20 World Cup 2020, scheduled to be hosted by Australia in October-November.
The last time, ICC Board members met, via video-conference, it declared the ICC Ethics Officers will conduct an independent investigation surrounding “confidentiality” and submit the report by June 10. An update regarding the matter is likely to be provided following the crucial meeting.
The ICC is also expected to discuss the scheduling of international bilateral calendar. The Future Tours Programme (FTP) will be discussed as every cricket board look to improve their financial condition.
The revenue stream has been disrupted by the prolonged break and how to resume the flow will also be on agenda on Wednesday.
A decision on T20 World Cup is inevitable, expected to be on the lines of postponement. While Australian Sports Minister Richard Colbeck sounded optimistic of hosting the T20 World Cup, the travel and safety of all 16 teams could be a major issue. The decision on the showpiece event will also impact the fate of IPL 2020.
The tax exemption issue between ICC and BCCI will also be discussed in the Wednesday meeting. Whereas, ICC election procedure will also be finalised for the ICC chairman and the nomination recommendation will also be presented to the ICC Board.
