Panchkula violence case: Honeypreet Insan produced before court, further hearing on March 28

<p>The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Haryana police filed a chargesheet against Honeypreet Insan and 14 other accused in connection with the violence on&nbsp;August 25 in Panchkula and Sirsa after Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim was arrested.</p>

<p>The violence was followed after Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim was convicted and sentenced to 20 years for allegedly raping two female disciples.</p>

<p>Honeypreet who claims to be the&nbsp;&quot;adopted daughter&quot;&nbsp;of Dera chief has been&nbsp;charged with&nbsp;sedition, criminal conspiracy of the Indian Penal code (IPC), along with other eleven accused.&nbsp;</p>

<p>They are also been charged under Sections including 121 (waging, or attempting to wage war, or abetting waging of war, against the government) and 121-A (conspiracy to commit offences) of IPC</p>

<p>Rest of the three have been&nbsp;charged under section 216 of the IPC (Harbouring offender who has escaped from custody or whose apprehension has been ordered) for giving shelter to Honeypreet when she was on the run, Panchkula Police Commissioner A S Chawla said.</p>

<p>A lookout notice, and later an arrest warrant, was also issued by the Haryana Police against Honeypreet before she was arrested in October.</p>

<p>Honeypreet, whose real name is Priyanka Taneja is currently under judicial remand in the Ambala central jail since October 14 and was arrested by the Haryana police.</p>

<p>During Honeypreet&#39;s remand, the police had recovered a mobile phone, a laptop, credit cards and documents of properties and education certificates belonging to her.</p>

<p>According to reports, Honeypreet had travelled with the Dera chief in a helicopter during his airlift from Panchkula to Rohtak&#39;s Sunaria jail after his conviction in the rape case, later she went into hiding for 38 days before she was arrested on October 4 from the Zirakpur-Patiala highway.</p>

<p>According to the police, so far more than 150 FIRs with nearly 1,000 Dera followers as accused of attacking security forces and damaging public property have been registered.</p>

Honeypreet taken for medical test at midnight, to be produced in court today

<p>The Delhi Police on Tuesday conducted searches across Delhi to trace Honeypreet Insan, the adopted daughter of jailed Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who has gone missing ahead of her anticipatory bail hearing today.</p>

<p>Armed with an arrest warrant, the police raided a house in the capital&#39;s Greater Kailash area where Honeypreet was believed to be in hiding.</p>

<p>The arrest warrant against Honeypreet, whose real name is Priyanka Taneja, has been for her alleged role in the with incidents of violence following the conviction of the self-proclaimed godman. The police also said they are searching for two other functionaries, Aditya and Pawan Insan, of the Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda.</p>

<p>The Delhi Police said a team of Panchkula Police had come with an arrest warrant for Honeypreet on a tip-off that she was present in a house in GK&#39;s A block.</p>

<p>However, the raid did not yield anything, a top official of the Delhi Police said, adding that the house in GK was registered as a property of the Dera Sacha Sauda.</p>

<p>Panchkula Commissioner of Police said a team headed by the Assistant Commissioner of Police was present in New Delhi defend the case in court if the need arose.</p>

<p>In her affidavit, Honeypreet has alleged that she has been falsely implicated and that her life and liberty are at stake.</p>

<p>She also states that she is ready to make herself available for investigations as and when required. She has also alleged that she is facing life threats from a drug syndicate of Punjab and Haryana.</p>

<p>Police has said that any person giving any information leading to the arrest of the three accused absconding and other accused in the Panchkula on August 25 will be suitably rewarded and his/her identity kept secret.</p>

<p>The Haryana Police said today that a court in Panchkula had yesterday issued an arrest warrant against Honeypreet Insan, Dera spokesperson Aditya Insan, and Dera&#39;s top functionary Pawan Insan in connection with incidents of violence in Panchkula.</p>

<p>The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Haryana Police had moved an application before the court seeking arrest warrants of the three accused, Haryana Director General of Police BS Sandhu said.<br />
