Bassam al-Sheikh Hussein, a 42-year-old food-delivery driver, stormed the Federal Bank branch in the capital to withdraw a part of his frozen savings of $210,000 to help pay for his father’s hospital bill.

According to AFP news agency, he entered the bank with a rifle, poured petrol and demanded his money. Following a seven-hour stand-off, he was arrested and taken out of the bank, with no injury being reported.

LBC TV channel reported that the armed man surrendered after he was allowed to take $35,000 of his savings upfront.

Dozens of protesters gathered outside the bank during the stand-off and chanted, "You are a hero."

The hostage taker represents the anger of a wider public whose savings accounts have been frozen for over three years due to the economic crisis. Banks have allowed depositors only token withdrawals of dollars each month that are insufficient to meet the most basic of needs.

As per reports, users on these websites have been discussing raping women. Cambodia has spent years slowly clearing the land of explosives, but it's&nbsp;dangerous work. This is where Magawa, the rat, comes in.

Magawa has discovered 39 landmines and 28 items of unexploded ordnance since he was trained by charity APOPO. He is the charity's most successful Hero Rat, having cleared more than 141,000 square metres of land.

He is the first rat in the charity's 77-year history to receive such an award.

"Magawa is a hero rat. We're thrilled to celebrate his life-saving devotion by awarding him the PDSA gold medal," PDSA's Director General Jan McLouglin said in a virtual presentation of the medal, which was specially designed to fit on Magawa's work harness.

The PDSA Gold Medal is "the highest honour for outstanding animal bravery and exceptional dedication in civilian life," according to its website.

Magawa can clear an area the size of a tennis court in 30 minutes.

A nearly nude gunman killed at least four people at a Waffle House restaurant near Nashville, Tennessee early on Sunday and then fled after a patron saved lives by wrestling the assault-style rifle from his hands.

The suspected shooter, identified by authorities as Travis Reinking, 29, was still at large and murder warrants were being issued for him, the Metropolitan Nashville Police said.

Reinking, of Morton, Illinois was believed to live near the restaurant. The gunman's vehicle was registered to him and a shirtless man wearing pants believed to be Reinking was spotted in woods nearby, police said.

The gunman, who was naked but for a green jacket, first shot and killed two people in the parking lot of the restaurant in Antioch, a section of southeast Nashville, shortly before 3:30 a.m. (0830 GMT).

He then entered the restaurant and opened fire, police said, killing one patron and wounding another, who later died.

One diner, named by local media as James Shaw Jr., 29, who had hidden near the restrooms, dashed out and pulled the rifle from the gunman.

US: Patron snatches rifle after naked gunman kills 4 at restaurant

Randall Margraves had asked the Michigan judge for five minutes in a locked room with Larry Nassar, the ex-USA Gymnastics doctor now convicted of having sexually assaulted scores of young girls and women under his care.&nbsp;

The judge had turned down Margraves, whose three daughters were among Nassar&#39;s victims. &quot;That&#39;s not how our legal system works,&quot; the judge said.&nbsp;
