“I remain deeply concerned about the risk of a dangerous escalation beyond Gaza and urge all leaders to exercise utmost restraint to avoid a wider conflagration,” said the UN chief.&nbsp;

<h2>‘Completely inadequate’&nbsp;</h2>

Guterres also noted that the amount of humanitarian assistance that has been allowed into Gaza up till now is “completely inadequate” and not enough to meet the needs of people in the Palestinian territory, “compounding the humanitarian tragedy”.&nbsp;

White House national security spokesperson John Kirby, said on Tuesday (Oct 31) that 66 trucks of humanitarian assistance entered Gaza in the last 24 hours, adding that dozens of more trucks are expected to be cleared for deliveries at the Rafah border crossing.&nbsp;

The US official also acknowledged that this is “just a fraction” of how much is needed in Gaza and at some point they would reach up to 100 a day.&nbsp;

The hearing was reportedly interrupted multiple times. In the clip, the&nbsp;woman was heard yelling at the officials, saying&nbsp;“Not even one Senator is calling for a ceasefire. Shame on you all,” before being escorted out of the chamber by a police officer.&nbsp;

Subsequently, a number of protesters sitting in the room raised their hands painted red with messages like “Free Gaza”. The police took all the protesters out of the hall.&nbsp;

So far, the US has not backed the calls for a ceasefire in Gaza. However, on Monday, the White House said that they do support calls for humanitarian “pauses” in fighting to get aid into Gaza.&nbsp;

“We do not believe that a ceasefire is the right answer right now,” National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters. He added, “We do not support a ceasefire at this time.”

Two of Biden’s top advisers – Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin – were testifying before the Senate Appropriations Committee on Biden’s request for $106 billion to fund ambitious plans for Ukraine, Israel and US border security.&nbsp;

As per news agency AFP reports, the US president asked for $61 billion in military aid for Ukraine and $14 billion for Israel.&nbsp;

Blinken and Austin argued that supporting American partners is vital to national security. Of the requested $61.4 billion for Ukraine, about half&nbsp;would be spent in the United States to replenish weapons stocks drained by previous support for Kyiv.

The package also includes $7 billion for resisting China and bolstering allies in the Asia-Pacific region, and over $9 billion for humanitarian assistance for Gaza, Ukraine and Israel.

Hamas's armed wing on Tuesday (Oct 31) said that it would free "a certain number of foreigners" as it vowed to turn Gaza into a graveyard for the Israeli army.

"We have informed intermediaries that we will release a certain number of foreigners in the next few days," Abu Obeida, a spokesman for Ezzedine Al-Qassam Brigades, said in a televised address.

"Gaza will be a graveyard and a quagmire for the enemy, its soldiers and its political and military leadership," said Obeida.

Reportedly, at the moment, Hamas has held approximately 240 hostages in Gaza after the militant group launched a surprise attack against Israel on Oct 7 prompting a fierce ground offensive by Israeli defence forces.

"The price to pay for the large number of enemy hostages in our hands is to empty the (Israeli) prisons of all Palestinian prisoners," Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades spokesman Abu Obeida said in a statement broadcast by the Hamas-run Al-Aqsa television channel.

"If the enemy wants to close this file of detainees in one go, we are ready for it. If it wants to do it step-by-step, we are ready for that too."

In a press briefing on Saturday (Oct 28), Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, while not making any commitment to the exchange deal, vowed to "exhaust every option to bring them (the hostages) home".&nbsp;

The Bolivian government “has decided to break diplomatic relations with the Israeli state in repudiation and condemnation of the aggressive and disproportionate Israeli military offensive taking place in the Gaza Strip,” said Deputy Foreign Minister Freddy Mamani during a press conference.&nbsp;

Bolivia has also called for a ceasefire and an end to “the blockade that prevents the entry of food, water and other essential elements for life,” Mamani added.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, Interim Foreign Minister Maria Nela Prada, during the press conference announced that they are sending humanitarian aid to Gaza.&nbsp;

Prada said the press conference had been called “in reference to the crimes against humanity being committed in the Gaza Strip against the Palestinian people.”

She also said that Bolivia demands an end to the attacks&nbsp;in Gaza which have “caused thousands of civilian deaths and the forced displacement of Palestinians.”&nbsp;

<h2>Not the first time</h2>

The government of leftist President Luis Arce is the first in Latin America to cut ties with Israel. However, this is not the first time that Bolivia has cut ties with Israel over its actions in Gaza.&nbsp;

In 2009, Bolivia under the government of leftist President Evo Morales, cut diplomatic ties with Israel in protest of its actions in Gaza. It was not until 2020, the government of right-wing interim President Jeanine Anez, that the country re-established ties with Israel.&nbsp;

The announcement on Tuesday also comes a day after Arce met with the Palestinian ambassador to Bolivia. “We reject the war crimes being committed in Gaza. We support international initiatives to guarantee humanitarian aid, in compliance with international law,” said the Bolivian president.

Bolivia backs calls for Gaza ceasefire The Bolivian government “has decided to break diplomatic relations with the Israeli state in repudiation and condemnation of the aggressive and disproportionate Israeli military offensive taking place in the Gaza Strip,” said Deputy Foreign Minister Freddy Mamani during a press conference. Bolivia has also called for a ceasefire and an end to “the blockade that prevents the entry of food, water and other essential elements for life,” Mamani added. However, this is not the first time that Bolivia has cut ties with Israel over its actions in Gaza. In 2009, Bolivia under the government of leftist President Evo Morales, cut diplomatic ties with Israel in protest of its actions in Gaza. It was not until 2020, the government of right-wing interim President Jeanine Anez, that the country re-established ties with Israel. The announcement on Tuesday also comes a day after Arce met with the Palestinian ambassador to Bolivia. “We reject the war crimes being committed in Gaza. We support international initiatives to guarantee humanitarian aid, in compliance with international law,” said the Bolivian president.
