<p>However, ahead of the next mega auction, scheduled for December 2024,&nbsp;the ones&nbsp;having their bases set and tasted success have pushed for more retentions, somewhere around six or seven, while others have opted for no retentions.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Though the board might not consider this idea, the BCCI might settle around three or four retentions, excluding an RTM card.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria feels that Pakistan cricket needs to learn from India coach Gautam Gambhir to be strong and "make the&nbsp;decision on the face."&nbsp;Kaneria made the remarks after Pakistan's recent 0-2 Test series loss against Bangladesh at home.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Speaking during an event in 2022, Gambhir was vocal about his thoughts against BCCI's policy of appointing foreign coaches, saying there are so many options within the Indian circuit for the board to choose from.</p>

<p>He added that the Indian fans end up giving too much importance to these overseas coaches, and they eventually vanish after earning buckets.</p>

<p>“One really good thing that has happened in Indian cricket in the past six or seven years is that Indians have started coaching the Indian cricket team. I am a very strong believer in this. Indians should coach the Indian cricket team. All these foreign coaches, whom we end up giving a lot of importance to, they only come here, they make money, and they vanish,” Gambhir said during an interview.</p>

<p>"I don't know how to react because this message means so much to me," Gambhir said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"The reason is not because it comes from the person who I have succeeded but from a person who I have always looked up to when I was playing.</p>

<p>Having played under Gautam, who replaced Rahul Dravid as Team India’s new head coach, in IPL 2014, Suryakumar calls his relationship with Gambhir ‘special’. He added that both of them know about each other’s working styles, eventually helping SKY to become the captain his coach and the selectors have picked him for.</p>

<p>“This relationship is special because, in 2014, I played under him in KKR. It was special because from there only I got opportunities. The relationship is still strong.</p>

<p>“He (Gambhir) knows how I work, and what is my mindset when I come to practice sessions. I also know how he tries to work as a coach. It’s all about the lovely relationship we have, and very excited to see how it goes forward,” Suryakumar continued.</p>

<h2>Staying grounded is the key</h2>

<p>Suryakumar Yadav has played cricket long enough to know how important it is to remain grounded and continue working for betterment, speaking on the same lines as he gears up for a new challenge.</p>

<p>“I think the most important thing that I have learned from this sport is how humble you are after achieving or even after not doing well. I have learned when you do something on the ground, you have to leave it on the ground,” he said.</p>

<p>“This is not your life, this is just a part of your life. So you can’t be when you are doing well, you stay on the top, and when you are not doing well, you are underground.</p>

<p>“That’s one thing which you shouldn’t do ever as a sportsman, that’s one thing which I have learned, and that’s what helps me create balance in my life. If you are a good person, everything happens good,” SKY concluded.</p>

In 2022, when Dravid had just taken over as India's head coach, Surya was in sublime form and ended with 1,164 runs (most&nbsp;in the calendar year) in 31 games with a strike rate of 187.43. <p>The T20I series will also mark the start of Suryakumar Yadav’s era as captain having been given the opportunity ahead of Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah in the format. <p>After the T20 World Cup in June, both Rohit and Virat announced their retirement from the format for India, but are back in the national side for the ODI series. Rohit will be the team captain while Virat will serve as an important member of the ODI and Test side.
