The Nerazzurri will wear black armbands in honour of Brehme during their Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid later on Tuesday at the San Siro.

Brehme's closest sporting connection is arguably with Kaiserslautern, where he played for 10 seasons over two stints, later going on to manage the club in the early 2000s.

The Kaiserslautern legend was moved to tears when the "Red Devils" were relegated from the Bundesliga in 1996.

But the team immediately bounced back to the top flight and marched straight to the title in 1998 with Brehme as captain.

Brehme played 86 times for his country, although nothing would top his exploits in the 1-0 victory over Diego Maradona's Argentina in Rome.

The woman, who received medical treatment after leaving the nightclub, is being treated for post-traumatic stress, according to prosecutors.

Alves' legal team lost a battle to keep the trial behind closed doors, though media and the public will not be present when the accuser takes the stand. Her identity has never been revealed.

Alves told Barcelona-based daily La Vanguardia in June that he initially lied about knowing his accuser because he was afraid his wife would leave him if he admitted being with another woman.

Spanish courts have repeatedly rejected requests that Alves be released pending his trial, citing a flight risk to Brazil, which generally does not extradite its citizens.

In Spain, a plea deal remains possible right until the start of the trial, meaning Alves could still admit guilt in exchange for a softer penalty.

"I don't care if the English teams join," added Laporta.

"They already have their Super League -- the Premier League."

Laporta said the project could begin with just 16 teams.

"The European Cup started in 1955 with very few clubs and later became the top competition in Europe," said Laporta.&nbsp;

"I imagine a first phase like this, and (more clubs) then integrating."

"AS Roma reiterates that it does not support any project related to the so-called Super League," said the Italian side in a statement.

The billionaire British former owner of Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur, Joe&nbsp;Lewis, pleaded guilty to insider trading in a US federal court on Wednesday, a prosecutor said.

Lewis, 86, was accused of furnishing employees, including his private pilots, and lovers with insider information for years in a "brazen" scheme between 2013 and 2021 that raked in millions of dollars.

He was charged in the case six months ago, initially pleading not guilty with his lawyer calling the charges an "egregious error."

His sentence will be handed down at a date yet to be announced.

"While I possessed material non-public information about certain publicly traded companies, I agreed to make recommendations" to three other parties to buy that stock,&nbsp;Lewis&nbsp;told judge Jessica Clarke, Bloomberg News reported.&nbsp;

"I knew at the time what I was doing was wrong and I'm so embarrassed."&nbsp;

"These individuals, in turn, traded on the tips provided by&nbsp;Lewis&nbsp;for vast personal gain."

Prosecutors alleged that in 2019&nbsp;Lewis&nbsp;lent his two pilots $500,000 each so that they could buy Mirati Therapeutics stock before the public release of the clinical results.

One of the pilots allegedly messaged a friend to buy the stock, telling them that he thought "the Boss has inside info."

Lewis&nbsp;is reported to be one of Britain's richest men with a fortune that Forbes puts at $6.2 billion, building his reputation as a currency speculator in the 1980s and early 1990s.

His holding company ENIC bought a controlling interest in Tottenham Hotspur Football Club in 2001 from then-owner Alan Sugar, another prominent British tycoon, for $22 million.
