Tesla To Launch Paid Robotaxis Next Year

Tesla shares soared 22 per cent to close at $260.48 on October 24, the stock’s best day since 2013, following the company’s better-than-expected earnings report according to a detailed report by CNBC.

The CNBC report further stated that, Tesla late on October 23, reported revenue of $25.18 billion, which came in just under analysts expectations of $25.37 billion, but was up 8 per cent compared with a year earlier. Tesla reported earnings per share of 72 cents adjusted, topping the average analyst estimate of 58 cents as detailed in a report by CNBC.

Tesla’s profit margins in the third quarter were boosted by $739 million in revenue for environmental regulatory credits, which the JPMorgan analysts noted were a “potentially unsustainable driver” of earnings and cash flow. Automakers are required to obtain a certain amount of regulatory credits every year, and if they can’t meet the target, they can buy credits from other companies. Tesla has excess credits because it only makes electric vehicles.

Full Service Driving Supervised System (FSD) boosted earnings<o:p></o:p>

Tesla earnings also got a boost from FSD, the company’s Full Self-Driving Supervised system. CFO Vaibhav Taneja said on the earnings call that FSD contributed $326 million in revenue in the quarter after Tesla made it available for use in the Cybertruck and added a feature called “Actually Smart Summon.”

CEO Elon Musk said on the call that his “best guess” is that “vehicle growth” will reach 20 per cent to 30 per cent next year, citing “lower cost vehicles” and the “advent of autonomy.” Analysts surveyed by FactSet were expecting delivery growth of about 15 per cent for 2025.

Analysts maintain mixed views<o:p></o:p>

Even bullish Deutsche Bank analysts doubted Musk’s forecast and wrote, in a note following the earnings report, “Our view remains more reserved at 10-15 per cent,” and assumes Tesla can roll out a cheaper version of its Model Y at a price under $30,000 after subsidies, and other variants of the small SUV. Analysts at Morgan Stanley who also recommend buying the stock, called Musk’s 2025 vehicle delivery growth prediction a “maybe.” They set their estimate at 14 per cent.

Musk also stated on the Wednesday call that Tesla plans to start production of its recently unveiled Cybercab, a robotaxi with butterfly doors and no steering wheel or pedals, by the end of 2026. He further mentioned Tesla would conduct driverless ride-hailing in California and Texas next year in its existing cars, which are not currently safe to use without a human driver ready to steer or brake at any time.

Bernstein analysts, according to the CNBC report, who have a bearish price target of $120 on shares of Tesla, wrote in a note out Thursday: “The tone of Tesla’s conference call was e-bullient and filled with Musk prognostications that have historically polarized bull and bear investors, and was more akin to a pep rally, with the company only taking two questions from sell-siders.”

Musk has for years promised shareholders a software upgrade that can turn Teslas into robotaxis. That hasn’t happened yet. Musk has also promised a refreshed version of the Tesla Roadster since 2017. The design of the vehicle is not yet complete. The Bernstein analysts wrote, “We continue to struggle to see Tesla overcoming the technological and regulatory hurdles needed to leapfrog current level 4 robotaxis, and believe fully unsupervised FSD could be years away.”

They pointed to Musk’s “long history of being overly optimistic about FSD” and said crowd-sourced research that shows “Tesla continues to lag well behind competitors” on robotaxis. The share rally on October 24 was the sharpest since a 24 per cent gain in May 2013. The jump erased Tesla’s loss for the year and left the stock up 3 per cent in 2024, though it still trails the 22 per cent gain for the Nasdaq. Market participants and investors will closely follow these developments in Tesla before taking investment decisions.

Tesla shares saw a 12 per cent jump after the company reported its third-quarter earnings on Wednesday. The electric-car manufacturer was able to bounce back from a tough second quarter, beating Wall Street expectations for earnings per share. The company reported an earnings-per-share of $0.72, surpassing the projection of investors that was $0.60 as detailed in a report by The Guardian.

The Guardian report further stated that, at the end of the second quarter, Tesla’s chief executive, Elon Musk, said the nearly 50 per cent drop in profits was temporary and due to challenges competing with cheaper or price-slashed electric vehicles by rival companies such as BYD. “We don’t see this as a long-term issue,” Musk said in July, “but really fairly short term.”

Tesla delivered slightly under-expected revenue, however. The company reported $25.18 billion in revenue at the end of the third quarter, just missing Wall Street revenue projections of $25.43 billion.

Tesla press release post-earnings<o:p></o:p>

“Despite sustained macroeconomic headwinds and others pulling back on EV investments, we remain focused on expanding our vehicle and energy product lineup, reducing costs and making critical investments in AI projects and production capacity,” the company said in a press release.

The release further stated that, “We believe these efforts will allow us to capitalise on the ongoing transition in the transportation and energy sectors.”

Further, on the earnings call on October 23, Musk said that Tesla has had a record third quarter and believes Tesla will become the most profitable company in the world if they execute on their plans.

“Tesla is focused on the future of energy, transport, robotics and AI and this is a time where others are focused on just managing on near terms,” Musk said. “We think what we’re doing is the right approach and if we execute on our objectives, and I think we will, my prediction is Tesla will become the most valuable company in the world, probably by a long shot.”

He also stated that he currently doesn’t know of any electric vehicle manufacturer that is profitable.

Tesla delivered 462,890 vehicles at the end of the third quarter, up from 443,956 in the second quarter. Investors and market participants will be looking to hear more about whether the company is on track to match its 2023 vehicle deliveries of 1.8 million units.

The company said that it expected slight growth in vehicle deliveries by the end of the year. Dan Ives, of financial services firm Wedbush Securities according to the Guardian report, remains confident. Meeting that goal will be “a solid feat given the extensive white-knuckle moments seen throughout the first half of the year”, he said in a note to investors.

Market participants and investors will also be looking for more information about the company’s robotaxis following a disappointing launch event. After unveiling the company’s much-hyped robotaxi earlier this month with scant details, Tesla shares dropped by just under 9 per cent and wiped more than $60bn from the company’s value.

Demand for electric vehicles continues to rise<o:p></o:p>

It is important to note that overall demand for electric vehicles (EV) continues to increase, however. US EV market share hit an all-time high at 8.3 per cent, up from 7.5 per cent in the same quarter of 2023, according to Edmunds.

Musk is facing legal scrutiny elsewhere as well the report detailed further. The European Union (EU) is considering fining X based on total sales by SpaceX, Neuralink, xAI and the Boring Company. The bloc has alleged that the social media company failed to address illegal content and disinformation on its platform. Fines can be as much as 6 per cent of the yearly revenue of a company. Tesla will likely be exempt from that fine, however, as it is a public company and not wholly owned by Musk. Market participants and investors will follow these important events and take informed investment decisions based on the same.

Tesla shares rise in third-quarter earnings even as expected revenue is lower

Tesla Inc. witnessed a dramatic market rally Thursday as investors welcomed CEO Elon Musk's renewed emphasis on the company's core electric vehicle business, with shares surging nearly 12% in pre-market trading. The stock movement, potentially adding approximately USD 81 billion to Tesla's market capitalization, marked a significant reversal from recent weeks when investors expressed growing concern over Musk's expanding focus on artificial intelligence and robotaxis.

During Wednesday's post-earnings call, Musk delivered what many analysts considered a crucial reassurance to the market by forecasting 20-30% vehicle sales growth for the coming year. The projection, coupled with promises of an affordable vehicle model and improved production cost efficiency, helped restore investor confidence that had been shaken by recent product announcements centred on everything but traditional automobiles.

"He definitely seemed more passionate and invested in it this time," observed Jessica Caldwell, head of insights at automotive research firm Edmunds. "I feel like so much of Tesla is tied up in the future but we need to figure out how you get there. That's what people needed to hear and they were a little bit better in providing those details than they have been in the past."

The positive market response comes on the heels of Tesla's recent unveiling of its Cybercab robotaxi, a steering wheel-free, pedal-less two-seater vehicle scheduled for production in 2026 with a projected price point below USD 30,000. While that event, which also showcased a 20-seat driverless van and dancing humanoid robots, initially disappointed investors due to limited details about production scaling and regulatory compliance, Musk's subsequent announcement of plans to produce at least 2 million Cybercabs annually has helped contextualise the company's autonomous vehicle strategy.

However, not all investors share the market's renewed optimism. Ross Gerber, CEO of Gerber Kawasaki Wealth and Investment Management and a notable Tesla investor, expressed concerns about Musk's divided attention between core operations and new initiatives. "The days were good when Elon slept at the factory. He was there every day, working. Not going to Trump rallies of all things he could be doing," Gerber commented, referencing Musk's public support for the Republican presidential candidate.

The company's ambitious plans for autonomous vehicles face significant regulatory hurdles, particularly in California. While Musk announced that Tesla vehicles could offer paid, driverless ride-hailing services as soon as next year, with testing already underway among employees in the San Francisco Bay Area, he acknowledged the regulatory challenges ahead. "It's not something we totally control," Musk admitted during the earnings call, though he expressed confidence in securing approval by 2025.

Tesla's valuation continues to reflect high growth expectations, with shares trading at 72.75 times forward earnings estimates, significantly above traditional automaker Ford's 5.94 multiple and even surpassing technology giant Microsoft's 30.79 ratio. The strong market response has prompted at least five brokerages to raise their price targets, with a median target of USD 221 according to LSEG data.

Industry analysts emphasise that while Tesla's futuristic initiatives generate headlines, the company's immediate focus on operational efficiency and market expansion remains crucial. "Capturing sales in today's challenging market and streamlining operations aren't as sexy as self-driving cabs and dancing robots," noted Edmunds' Caldwell, "but they're critical toward funding the company's long-term vision for the future."

As Tesla navigates the delicate balance between current market demands and future technological ambitions, the company's ability to maintain strong fundamentals in its core EV business will likely remain under intense scrutiny. While this week's positive market response provides some breathing room for Musk's broader vision, the pressure to deliver on both traditional metrics and innovative promises continues to shape Tesla's complex market narrative.

That's what people needed to hear and they were a little bit better in providing those details than they have been in the past." The positive market response comes on the heels of Tesla's recent unveiling of its Cybercab robotaxi, a steering wheel-free, pedal-less two-seater vehicle scheduled for production in 2026 with a projected price point below USD 30,000. "Capturing sales in today's challenging market and streamlining operations aren't as sexy as self-driving cabs and dancing robots," noted Edmunds' Caldwell, "but they're critical toward funding the company's long-term vision for the future." As Tesla navigates the delicate balance between current market demands and future technological ambitions, the company's ability to maintain strong fundamentals in its core EV business will likely remain under intense scrutiny. While this week's positive market response provides some breathing room for Musk's broader vision, the pressure to deliver on both traditional metrics and innovative promises continues to shape Tesla's complex market narrative.

Tesla stock surges on strong growth outlook

Investors and analysts will be scrutinising Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Wednesday when the electric automaker reports quarterly results, with investors expecting dramatic improvement over last year's results. Musk’s ambitious robotaxi plans will be in focus after a huge event last week at which most questions weren’t answered and saw Tesla shares fall.

Musk failed to answer a series of critical questions about how the self-driving vehicle works, and presented critical details that he did — like specifications on the striking black SUV that was revealed, or how many cars it will be for — during a very brief 20 minute presentation about the self-driving vehicle that left investors thirsty for detail about the company's core auto sales. Tesla's automotive sales profit margins are expected to decline, analysts say, due to rising incentives aimed at attracting electric vehicle buyers.

Demand for Tesla’s aging lineup has ceded to lower-priced EVs in China and traditional US automakers rolling out new vehicles, and the company may also see its first-ever annual drop in vehicle deliveries. Investors want to take a look at how these factors will bear on the company as a whole.

Details of the robotaxi initiative and the progress of Tesla’s Full Self Driving (FSD) software will be key topics for the upcoming earnings call. Much of Tesla's USD 700 billion market valuation rests on Musk's promises that FSD will enable that robotaxi business. Under USD 30,000 and only entering production in 2026 — Musk has indicated the robotaxi could hit the market. He also outlined plans for unsupervised FSD operation to get underway in California and Texas next year.

But safety of the FSD system is also coming under scrutiny following reports of four crashes, including a fatal crash, and the US auto safety regulator is opening an investigation into 2.4 million Tesla vehicles with FSD software after concerns that the technology wasn't meeting the most crucial safety requirements for vehicles, the WSJ reported.

Analysts from Barclays have noted a shift in focus from the Cybercab event to Tesla's fundamental business metrics. Wall Street expects the company to report an automotive gross margin of 14.9% for the third quarter, slightly up from 14.6% in the previous quarter. Despite price cuts to boost demand amid rising interest rates, Tesla's efforts have met with limited success, raising concerns about its margin performance compared to traditional automakers.

US Election 2024: Musk Makes Controversial Announcement

Elon Musk, at a town hall hosted by America PAC in Pennsylvania on Saturday (Oct 19), echoed former president Donald Trump's unfounded conspiracy theories regarding voting machines and their potential to rig elections, calling for paper ballots.

Musk, as per ABC News, specifically mentioned Dominion Voting Systems, which recently settled a $787 million defamation lawsuit against Fox News for spreading false claims about its role in the 2020 election.&nbsp;

He linked Dominion to electoral losses for Republicans in Philadelphia and Arizona, suggesting it was "weird" that certain areas used these voting machines while others did not.&nbsp;

"There's always a sort of question of like, say, the Dominion voting machines. It is weird that the, you know, I think they're used in Philadelphia and in Maricopa County, but not in a lot of other places," said the Tesla CEO.

"Doesn't that seem like a heck of a coincidence?" he asked.

He concluded by advocating for a shift to exclusively using paper ballots. "Only do paper ballots, hand-counted," said Musk.

His comments come amid growing political involvement, having previously shown strong support for former President Donald Trump, including substantial financial contributions to his political action committee.

Elon Musk echoes Trump's voting machine conspiracy theories, pushes for paper ballots: 'Just too easy to hack'

Pennsylvania Governor&nbsp;Josh Shapiro said that billionaire Elon Musk’s plan to give $1 million to anybody who signs his America PAC before the presidential elections is “deeply concerning.”

“I think there are real questions with how he is spending money in this race. How the dark money is flowing, not just into Pennsylvania but apparently now into the pockets of Pennsylvanians,” said Shapiro on Sunday (Oct 20) on NBC News’s “Meet the Press.”

“That is deeply concerning," he added.

Shapiro said that Musk, who has endorsed Trump publicly and made appearances at rallies with him, has a right to express his views.

When NBC News’s Kristin Welker asked Shapiro if plans of Musk are legal, the former Pennsylvania attorney general said that he was not able to weigh in on the issue.

“I think it’s something that law enforcement can take a look at,” Shapiro said.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump, the Republican Party presidential candidate, stepped up&nbsp;personal attacks on political rival US Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party presidential candidate. During a rally in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, Trump attacked Harris and said: "you're a shit vice president".

Addressing a crowd of his followers in the swing state, Trump said that Harris was more left than Democratic Senators Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders.

"You have to tell Kamala Harris that you've had enough, that you just can't take it anymore. We can't stand you, you're a shit vice president."

To applause, Trump added: "Kamala, you're fired, get the hell out of here, you're fired."

He also made some off-colour comments about golf legend Arnold Palmer, a hometown hero. At the Latrobe event,&nbsp;Trump told voters a long story about Palmer that had mentions of the late golf legend's genitalia.

"He took showers with the other pros, they came out of there and said 'oh my God, that's unbelievable'," said Trump.

Harris campaign was quick to seize the opportunity and commented: "Trump's Pennsylvania closing argument is literal junk. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO has recently taken an increasingly visible role in Trump's campaign and has even donated $75 million to his political organization America PAC. Speaking at a campaign event in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania Trump announced that he would randomly start distributing cash awards until the November 5 vote to registered voters who signed Trump's organization's petition in support of free speech & right to bear arms. He had previously posted a similar message on X. If you’re a registered Pennsylvania voter, you & whoever referred you will now get $100 for signing our petition in support of free speech & right to bear arms. During a rally in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, Trump attacked Harris and said: "you're a shit vice president". Addressing a crowd of his followers in the swing state, Trump said that Harris was more left than Democratic Senators Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders. "You have to tell Kamala Harris that you've had enough, that you just can't take it anymore. We can't stand you, you're a shit vice president." To applause, Trump added: "Kamala, you're fired, get the hell out of here, you're fired." He also made some off-colour comments about golf legend Arnold Palmer, a hometown hero. At the Latrobe event, Trump told voters a long story about Palmer that had mentions of the late golf legend's genitalia. "He took showers with the other pros, they came out of there and said 'oh my God, that's unbelievable'," said Trump. Billionaire Elon Musk said that "college is overrated." The owner of X took to social media to share a video of himself speaking about the diminishing value of traditional education and wrote in the caption that "college is overrated".&nbsp;

In the video, Musk was speaking at a solo event organised in support of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump in Philadelphia on Thursday (October 17).

Speaking at the event, Musk said that a lot of people spend their college years accumulating debt and not gaining any practical, useful skills.&nbsp;

"I think the value of a college education is somewhat overweighted. Too many people spend four years, accumulate a ton of debt, and often don't have useful skills that they can apply afterwards," Musk said.

US billionaire Elon Musk has “appreciated” an indication by the Indian government suggesting it will opt for the allocation route for satellite spectrum and avoid the traditional auction route. Speaking during an event in New Delhi, India’s Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia had said, “If you do decide to auction it, then you will differ on the process from the rest of the world." The hint immediately earned Elon Musk’s praise, who is hoping to launch his Starlink services in India.

Starlink to enter India soon? Musk happy as govt does away with spectrum auction

Elon Musk gave around $75 million to his pro-Donald Trump spending group in the span of three months, federal disclosures showed on Tuesday, underscoring how the billionaire has become crucial to the Republican candidate's efforts to win the November&nbsp;5 presidential election.

America PAC, which is focused on turning out voters in closely contested states that could decide the election, spent around $72 million of that in the July-September period, according to disclosures filed to the Federal Election Commission.

That is more than any other pro-Trump super PAC focused on turning out voters. The Trump campaign is broadly reliant on outside groups for canvassing voters, meaning the super PAC founded by Musk - the world's richest man - plays an outsized role in the razor-thin election between Trump and Democrat Kamala Harris.

Musk, the CEO of electric car manufacturer Tesla, was the sole donor to the group in that period.

Musk, who has said he has voted for Democratic presidential candidates in the past, has taken a sharp turn to the right this election. He endorsed Trump in July and appeared with him at a rally in Pennsylvania earlier this month.

On Wednesday, Musk said in a post on X that he will be "giving a series of talks" throughout Pennsylvania, less than two weeks after his appearance with Trump in the state.

He said people only needed to sign a petition on his America PAC website to attend his talks from "tomorrow night through Monday."

Reuters reported, quoting a source, last week that Musk planned more campaigning for Trump in Pennsylvania, considered a crucial state for both Trump and his Democratic opponent Harris in the race for the White House.

Musk's donations to America PAC propel him into the exclusive club of Republican mega-donors, a list that also includes banking heir Timothy Mellon and casino billionaire Miriam Adelson.

However, Reuters reported earlier this month that Musk has secretly funded a conservative political group for years, well before his public embrace of Trump.

America PAC declined to comment on the Musk donations. Musk did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

America PAC is focused on encouraging Americans who like Trump but don't always vote to cast ballots this cycle, a high-risk, labour-intensive strategy by the Trump campaign.

The group, which started its work later in the election than other PACs, has encountered some problems with hiring and its contractors. Since July, it has fired two major contractors it has hired to knock on doors.

It has also struggled to hire door knockers in several battleground states in part because by the time the PAC became operational many other canvassing groups had already staffed up, a half-dozen sources briefed on the issues told Reuters.

The group had around $4 million left on hand by the end of September, the filings show.

Separate filings earlier on Tuesday showed that Miriam Adelson, the casino magnate, donated $95 million to another pro-Trump super PAC, Preserve America PAC, in the same period.

In case of an attack by China on Taiwan's internet, the island nation will still be online, thanks to a satellite internet service it has developed.

It is similar to Elon Musk's Starlink satellite internet, which Taiwan had negotiated for before talks fell through. That happened because of Taiwan's insistence that a government entity must have a majority stake in any potential joint venture.

Indian government on October 15, said it will allot spectrum for satellite broadband administratively and not via auction, hours after Elon Musk criticized the auction route being sought by rival billionaire Mukesh Ambani as "unprecedented" according to a detailed report by Reuters. <o:p></o:p>

The report further elaborated that, in what is seen as a battle between billionaires, the methodology of awarding spectrum for satellite services in India, a market set to grow 36 per cent&nbsp;a year to reach $1.9 billion by 2030, has been a contentious issue since last year.<o:p></o:p>

Elon Musk to join Trump's team? Billionaire 'dying' to be US' 'secretary of cost-cutting,' says ex-president

Tesla's highly anticipated robotaxi unveiling event, held Thursday night on the Warner Bros. movie studio lot in Hollywood, left many investors and industry experts yearning for more concrete details amidst CEO Elon Musk's characteristically grand promises. The event, which showcased futuristic prototypes and ambitious timelines, failed to provide the specifics many hoped would outline Tesla's transition from an electric vehicle manufacturer to a leader in autonomous driving and artificial intelligence.

The presentation, infused with electronic dance music and Musk's trademark showmanship, began with the CEO traversing the studio's faux streets in a sleek, silver two-door "Cybercab" prototype. Musk proceeded to make a series of bold announcements during his 20-minute address, including the promise that Tesla's popular Model 3 and Model Y vehicles would be capable of operating without driver supervision in California and Texas by next year.

Among the most striking declarations was Musk's commitment to start production of the fully autonomous Cybercab by 2026, with a price tag under USD 30,000. He also introduced a "robovan" concept, capable of transporting 20 passengers, which he claimed would revolutionise urban landscapes by "turning parking lots into parks." The event concluded with a display of Tesla's humanoid robots, which Musk asserted would eventually be sold for USD 20,000 to USD 30,000 each, boldly predicting, "I think this will be the biggest product ever, of any kind."

However, the market's response to these announcements was decidedly tepid. Tesla's stock closed nearly 9% lower at USD 217.80 on Friday, reflecting investor scepticism about the lack of practical details in Musk's presentation. While Tesla shares have surged over 30% since Musk's April announcement of the shift to robotaxis, they remain down nearly 16% over the past 12 months, significantly underperforming the S&amp;P 500's nearly 33% gain during the same period.

Ross Gerber, CEO of Gerber Kawasaki Wealth and Investment Management and a Tesla shareholder, expressed disappointment in the event's focus. "His vision is lovely, but somebody has to actualize it," Gerber stated. "For now, for the next 24 months, Tesla has to sell EVs. Why aren't we focused on that?" Gerber and other investors had hoped to see plans for a more traditional, lower-priced mass-market vehicle that Tesla could bring to market in the near term, addressing the company's immediate challenges in the increasingly competitive EV landscape.

The absence of details regarding Tesla's robotaxi plans appeared to benefit ride-hailing companies Uber and Lyft, whose shares closed about 11% and 10% higher, respectively. Analysts suggested that the lack of specificity in Tesla's presentation eased competition concerns for these established players in the transportation sector.

Tesla's autonomous driving strategy diverges significantly from that of competitors like Alphabet's Waymo. Musk is pursuing a lower-cost technological path, which he believes will enable Tesla to scale up its autonomous vehicles more rapidly than rivals. However, this approach has critical weaknesses, primarily the difficulty in pinpointing the cause of crashes or failures due to the AI technology underpinning the self-driving system – a factor that could raise regulatory concerns.

Matthew Wansley, a professor at New York's Cardozo School of Law, offered a sobering assessment of Tesla's position in the autonomous driving race: "Tesla software is at least years behind where Waymo is. That's the hard part. No flashy vehicle design is going to change that."

Ramesh Poola, co-chief investment officer at Creative Planning, which holds Tesla shares, expressed admiration for the presentation but noted the absence of crucial details. "Obviously, we were looking for more details on what exactly his future plans are going to be and how he's going to monetize this new AI and robotics," Poola said. He anticipates that regulators will pose a "major hurdle" to Musk's plans for unsupervised autonomous driving by next year, given that Tesla's current "Full Self-Driving" feature still requires constant human attention for safe operation.

Despite these concerns, some investors remain cautiously optimistic about Tesla's long-term prospects. Tasha Keeney, director of investment analysis at ARK Investment Management, a Tesla investor, said she was encouraged by Musk's timeline for offering an unsupervised version of the full self-driving system in Texas and California next year. "If they can do that, I don't see why they wouldn't launch a robotaxi service soon after," she commented.

Musk's grand robotaxi vision leaves investors craving concrete plans

Elon Musk has once again captured the spotlight with his ambitious vision for Tesla's future, as he unveiled plans for an expansive ‘robotaxi’ service that promises to revolutionise urban transportation in the US. During a recent investor event in California, Musk outlined how this innovative fleet of autonomous vehicles could significantly enhance mobility while addressing pressing environmental concerns as detailed in a report by CNN.

The report further stated that, this announcement comes at a time when the demand for sustainable transport solutions is at an all-time high. With cities grappling with congestion and pollution, Musk's robotaxi initiative according to him, aims to provide a cleaner, more efficient alternative to traditional taxis and rideshare services. By leveraging Tesla's cutting-edge technology and artificial intelligence, the company hopes to create a fleet that operates seamlessly in urban environments.

Musk emphasised that the rollout of the robotaxi service will be gradual, with initial deployments expected in select markets. He stated, "We envision a future where our cars are not just personal vehicles but integral parts of a shared transportation network." This shift could potentially reduce the number of cars on the road, leading to decreased traffic congestion and lower emissions.

Tesla to launch its Robotaxi service by 2025<o:p></o:p>

The implications of this initiative extend beyond mere convenience. As Tesla aims to launch its robotaxi service by 2025, it is also poised to disrupt the traditional automotive industry. Analysts predict that this move could lead to a significant decline in ownership rates of personal vehicles, as consumers opt for on-demand transportation solutions instead.

Tesla's strategy hinges on its advanced Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology, which has been under development for several years. The company is confident that its vehicles will soon achieve full autonomy, allowing them to navigate complex urban roads without human intervention. This technological leap is expected to enhance safety and efficiency while reducing operational costs associated with human drivers.

In addition to promoting sustainability, Musk's robotaxi vision will also focus on creating new revenue streams for Tesla. By allowing owners to put their vehicles into the robotaxi fleet when not in use, Tesla could generate additional income for customers while maximising vehicle utilisation. This innovative approach could redefine vehicle ownership and transform how consumers perceive mobility.

However, the path to realising this ambitious vision is filled with challenges. Regulatory hurdles and public acceptance remain significant obstacles that Tesla must navigate as it seeks to deploy its robotaxi service. Moreover, concerns about safety and liability in the event of accidents involving autonomous vehicles continue to loom large.

Despite these challenges, Musk remains optimistic about the future of Tesla's robotaxi service. He believes that as technology advances and public understanding grows, acceptance of autonomous vehicles will increase. "We are committed to making this vision a reality," he asserted during his presentation.

As cities worldwide strive for smarter and more sustainable transport solutions, Tesla's robotaxi initiative represents a bold step towards reshaping the US urban mobility. With its innovation and sustainability, Tesla is not only focusing on redefining what it means to travel but also setting new standards for the automotive industry.

Hence, Elon Musk’s ambitious plans for Tesla’s robotaxis could herald a new era in transportation. As the company gears up for its anticipated launch in 2025, all eyes will be on how it navigates regulatory landscapes and public perceptions.

While he said commuting sucks today, the Tesla chief stressed the safety and profitability of self-driving vehicles, saying owners could rent off the robotaxis.

The cybercab which is expected to cost under $30,000 will start production only before 2027, which raised concerns about possible delays which Tesla is known for.&nbsp;

"I tend to be optimistic with time frames," Musk said humorously.
