Elon Musk has always been vocal about his pro-natalist views, and reports suggest that he has gone above and beyond to promote his vision. According to a report by The New York Times, Musk allegedly offered his sperm to friends, including Nicole Shanahan, who was Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s running mate. However, two sources claim that Shanahan turned down this unusual proposal.

This isn’t the first time such claims about Musk have surfaced. Last year, guests at a dinner party attended by Musk revealed to the New York Times that he suggested donating his sperm to a married couple he had only met a few times socially.

The incident took place at a dinner hosted by a Silicon Valley tech executive. During the gathering, the couple mentioned their struggles with conceiving a child, which prompted Musk to offer his help. He also allegedly talked about his numerous children during the event.

As a father of 11, Musk has often emphasised the importance of having more children. In 2022, he posted on X (formerly Twitter), "Population collapse due to low birthrates is a much bigger risk to civilisation than global warming. (And I do think global warming is a major risk)."

Earlier this year, Musk posted, "I'm doing my best to encourage more people to become parents and ideally have three or more kids, so humanity can grow. The population collapse in most countries is a tragedy. Sales of adult diapers should never exceed sales of baby diapers!"

Musk’s views have sparked a variety of reactions online. Recently, he responded to Taylor Swift, who jokingly referred to herself as “Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady” in reference to a comment by Vice President-elect JD Vance, who called Democrats “a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives.”

Musk said, “Fine Taylor . . . you win . . . I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life.”

Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia on Thursday announced it would cease publishing its reports on Elon Musk's social media platform X, which it said had become a "disinformation network".

Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia on Thursday announced it would cease publishing its reports on Elon Musk's social media platform X, which it said had become a "disinformation network". The decision by the Barcelona-based daily comes a day after Britain's The Guardian also said it would quit promoting its journalism on X, formerly Twitter, citing "often disturbing content" on the site. La Vanguardia said X had become "an echo chamber" full of "conspiracy theories and disinformation" that would not have had such an impact with "effective and reasonable moderation". Musk has gutted trust and safety teams, scaled back content moderation efforts and restored known conspiracy theorists to the platform since purchasing it for $44 billion in 2022. Also read: The Guardian says it won’t post on ‘toxic media platform’ X; Elon Musk hits back, calls it ‘irrelevant’ "Hatred of ethnic minorities, misogyny and racism" were among the viral posts "that violate human rights" but captured users' attention and more money through advertising, the newspaper added. La Vanguardia also denounced the growth of bots spreading disinformation, including India-based accounts commenting on Spain's devastating October floods that have killed 223 people. The Catalan daily said it would continue following people, businesses and institutions on X to inform readers of messages and debates. Its journalists will also be free to keep using it "within the guidelines of restraint and respect for human rights and freedom of expression" required of them in all settings. Musk has consistently courted controversy with his use of X, particularly during the recent US presidential election where he endorsed Republican candidate Donald Trump. Musk used his personal account boasting nearly 205 million followers to sway voters in favour of Trump, but his incendiary and misleading posts were criticised for cranking up the political temperature. Morning brief: Trump's top picks for White House; latest on West Asia crisis; and more

The Guardian, a major British newspaper, on Wednesday (Nov 13) said that it has decided to stop posting on the social media platform X, calling it a “toxic media platform.”

The publication in a statement told its readers that it no longer sees value in maintaining its presence on X, explaining that “often disturbing content” has become more common on the platform. "We wanted to let readers know that we will no longer post on any official Guardian editorial accounts on the social media site X," the British media outlet said.

The statement added, "This is something we have been considering for a while given the often disturbing content promoted or found on the platform, including far-right conspiracy theories and racism."

The Guardian said that the recent United States presidential campaign solidified their concerns.&nbsp;"The US presidential election campaign served only to underline what we have considered for a long time: that X is a toxic media platform and that its owner, Elon Musk, has been able to use its influence to shape political discourse."

“We think that the benefits of being on X are now outweighed by the negatives and that resources could be better used promoting our journalism elsewhere,” the Guardian added.

While the Guardian will no longer be posting on X, it said that readers can still share Guardian articles on the platform. Additionally, the organisation may still “embed content from X” in articles when necessary for “live news reporting.”

The Guardian has a strong presence on X, managing over 80 accounts with a combined following of around 27 million users.

Its primary handle, @guardian, remained accessible as of Wednesday, though it carried a message stating, “this account has been archived,” with a link directing users to the Guardian’s website.

With its 10.7 million followers on X, the Guardian has become the first prominent UK media outlet to leave the platform since Elon Musk acquired it in 2022 for $44 billion.

Critics argue that Musk’s management has enabled the spread of misinformation and hate speech on X.

In response to the Guardian's departure, Musk reacted dismissively, stating on X, “They are irrelevant.”

In another comment regarding the newspaper's exit, Musk referred to the Guardian as “a laboriously vile propaganda machine.”

Musk became a key ally to Trump during his campaign, reportedly spending well over $100 million to help the Republican win and repeatedly boosting Trump's candidacy on X, the platform which he owns.

The 78-year-old Republican is set to make a triumphant return to Washington on Wednesday, meeting President Joe Biden in the Oval Office.

"DOGE" is a new department in the US administration introduced by Republicans that will be taking care of cutting federal waste. Trump said Musk and another stalwart ally, businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, would lead a "Department of Government Efficiency ('DOGE')" a tongue-in-cheek reference to an internet meme and cryptocurrency. "Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies," Trump said in a statement. The 78-year-old Republican is set to make a triumphant return to Washington on Wednesday, meeting President Joe Biden in the Oval Office. <h2>What will Musk do with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)</h2>

The acronym of the new department to DOGE is a 'sick' move and cannot be a mere coincidence, as Dogecoin is a Musk-backed cryptocurrency which he had promoted a lot on X. So much so that after Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential election on November 5, Dogecoin witnessed a growth of 145 per cent.

But how is this department&nbsp;going to work and most importantly, what plans do Musk and Ramaswamy have with DOGE?&nbsp;

Post the announcement, the Tesla boss expressed, “A lot of people who are taking advantage of the government are going to be upset about it… I need a lot of security, but it’s got to be done, and if it’s not done, we’ll just go bankrupt.”

DOGE will maintain a “leaderboard” of wasteful government spending, which Musk believes will be “both extremely tragic and extremely entertaining.”

Meanwhile, Ramaswamy reposted Trump's announcement on social media saying "we will not go gently". He also said he was withdrawing from consideration to fill incoming US Vice-President JD Vance’s soon-to-be-vacated Ohio Senate seat.

The DOGE is not an official government department - such agencies have to be established through an act of Congress and typically employ tens of thousands of staff. This is just a temporary new department of Trump Cabinet 2.0.

Musk's appointment to Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) triggers meme fest on X

Tesla shares closed up nearly 9 per cent on November 11, continuing to ride a postelection rally as President-elect Donald Trump, closely allied with CEO Elon Musk, begins to set up his presidential cabinet, according to a detailed report by CNBC.

Tesla has rallied 30 per cent in the last few days<o:p></o:p>

Analysts at Wedbush reiterated their outperform rating on the stock, joining earlier sunny outlooks reacting to Tuesday’s results. Tesla recently reclaimed its $1 trillion market cap after surging nearly 30 per cent last week, the CNBC report explained further.

“We are raising our price target on Tesla to $400 from $300 as we believe the Trump White House win will be a game-changer for the autonomous and artificial intelligence (AI) story for Tesla and Musk over the coming years,” the Wedbush analysts wrote.

Musk’s wealth rocketed past $300 billion in the days since Trump’s decisive electoral win, further cementing his place as the richest man in the world and joining the wave of gains across the technology and crypto sector since postelection trading began.

It is unclear whether Musk, who spent at least $130 million on Trump’s campaign, will receive an official title in the second Trump White House or if he will influence policy decisions from his inner circle.

The CNBC report stated further, Musk stands to earn potentially billions from new government contracts with his companies, on top of the $19 billion SpaceX has already been awarded. Some or all of the 19 known ongoing federal lawsuits and investigations into his companies may begin to wind down entirely.

&nbsp;“It is difficult to judge how Elon Musk’s increasingly close public relationship with President Trump could benefit Tesla, but this needs to be monitored closely,” analysts from Bank of America wrote in a note last week, raising their Tesla price target from $265 to $350.

Trump has said previously he may cut the federal $7,500 electric vehicle tax credit, and those credits have historically helped drive sales of Tesla vehicles.

At one of his final campaign rallies, Trump suggested Musk could be put in charge of “government efficiency,” and he was present on Trump’s phone call with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy two days ago.

Market participants and global investors will closely follow these developments. This will help them in taking informed investment decisions with regards to the Tesla stock, as Musk looks primed to succeed financial in a second Trump presidency.

Elon Musk's $200 mn Political Push Sets New Election Standards

Jash Dholani is a 27-year-old writer with over 110k followers online. His readers include Elon Musk, Jordan Peterson and other global leaders. Jash shares wisdom from old books and tries to bring in a new perspective on contemporary events. In the past he used to make ads. In the future he wants to make films. WION catches up with Jash Dholani to know more about his philosophy, X following and his interest in old books. &nbsp;

Why have you named your X page (formerly Twitter) OldBooksGuy? What is it about old books that attracts you? Do you think the same wisdom is lacking from new books? &nbsp;

Firstly, authors of old books are not afraid of getting cancelled, so they usually speak their minds. Secondly, old books are vetted by time—only the best have survived. There were many reasons I chose to niche down on old books, but these two were probably the biggest ones!&nbsp;

A lot of world leaders including Elon Musk have retweeted your posts on Twitter. How did your content reach them? What is it about your tweets that resonates with them? &nbsp;

The internet is amazing. I can write something sitting in a cafe in Delhi, or a train station in Budapest, and reach people around the world. But I think you're asking a more specific question about internet virality. There are parts I can control and parts I cannot. Here are 3 things I can control: volume, experimentation, and relevance. I have tweeted more than 21,000 times - that's close to a million words. So - volume is important. Before Twitter I was uploading content on Youtube and Instagram - so I've experimented a fair bit with different formats. And then there's relevance: when the trailer for the Napoleon movie came out in 2023, and became a talking point on Twitter, I immediately uploaded a thread on Napoleon - and got a reply from Elon. But I could not have done the thread if I hadn't been reading Napoleon's private letters for years before!&nbsp;

Now that you’re about to hit 100k on Twitter with leading global leaders following you - what are your next goals with your Twitter platform? &nbsp;

I want to hit a million followers and sell a million books.&nbsp;

What’s your book Hit Reverse about? Please share 3 key lessons in the book. &nbsp;

Hit Reverse has 750+ new ideas from 75+ old books. People should read my book if they want the best insights from old classics (and some forgotten gems) but don't have the time to read them. Here are 3 snippets:&nbsp;

1. Charisma is being comfortable in your own skin. Here’s La Rochefoucauld, 16th century French writer, on how to be irresistible: "There is an air which belongs to the figure and talents of each individual...We should try to find out what air is natural to us and never abandon it, but make it as perfect as we can." Authenticity is hot.&nbsp;

2. &nbsp;Napoleon on Courage: "Courage can't be counterfeited—it's a virtue which escapes hypocrisy." Courage with logical thought is unbeatable: "The burst of courage which, despite the suddenness of events, still leaves you capable of thought, of judgment and decision, is excessively rare."&nbsp;

3. Men and women miscommunicate because they dance to DIFFERENT rhythms. Nietzsche: "The same emotions in man and woman are different in tempo: therefore man and woman never cease to misunderstand one another." Well-arranged differences in tempo, however, make a song…&nbsp;

Since most of your content involves research - how do you spend your day? &nbsp;

I cast a wide net. I go down rabbit holes. I read wikipedia, wikiquotes, old essays, old letters, old journal entries. My goal is to find ideas that are useful, interesting, and memorable. That's the golden trifecta - not easy to find! But extremely rewarding when I do…&nbsp;

What is a philosophy/ theory that you came across recently that has baffled you? &nbsp;

Historian Stephen Meyer says there are some very weird gaps in the evolution of life. There are sudden explosions in new species, sudden increases in the size and capacity of the human brain - from 1 to 100 with nothing in between. Explosions and improvements so sudden that the normal evolutionary process, which takes millions of years, just can't explain them. He's saying there was some extraterrestrial influence. Very baffling idea - but he's a brilliant guy and makes his case really well. &nbsp;

You were recently a speaker at Brainbar. What did you speak about there? &nbsp;

Brainbar is an incredible conference based out of Budapest, Hungary. Thousands of high school and college students come each year to hear talks on technology, history, and much more. This year they were kind enough to invite me for a keynote address. My talk's title was "5 Modern Mistakes." It will be out soon!&nbsp;

What is your opinion on these three current trends - self care, revenge travel and international education? &nbsp;

Jash Dholani is a 27-year-old writer with over 110k followers online. His readers include Elon Musk, Jordan Peterson and other global leaders. Jash shares wisdom from old books and tries to bring in a new perspective on contemporary events. In the past he used to make ads. In the future he wants to make films. WION catches up with Jash Dholani to know more about his philosophy, X following and his interest in old books. Why have you named your X page (formerly Twitter) OldBooksGuy? What is it about old books that attracts you? Do you think the same wisdom is lacking from new books? Firstly, authors of old books are not afraid of getting cancelled, so they usually speak their minds. Secondly, old books are vetted by time—only the best have survived. There were many reasons I chose to niche down on old books, but these two were probably the biggest ones! A lot of world leaders including Elon Musk have retweeted your posts on Twitter. How did your content reach them? What is it about your tweets that resonates with them? The internet is amazing. I can write something sitting in a cafe in Delhi, or a train station in Budapest, and reach people around the world. But I think you're asking a more specific question about internet virality. There are parts I can control and parts I cannot. Here are 3 things I can control: volume, experimentation, and relevance. I have tweeted more than 21,000 times - that's close to a million words. So - volume is important. Before Twitter I was uploading content on Youtube and Instagram - so I've experimented a fair bit with different formats. And then there's relevance: when the trailer for the Napoleon movie came out in 2023, and became a talking point on Twitter, I immediately uploaded a thread on Napoleon - and got a reply from Elon. But I could not have done the thread if I hadn't been reading Napoleon's private letters for years before! Now that you’re about to hit 100k on Twitter with leading global leaders following you - what are your next goals with your Twitter platform? I want to hit a million followers and sell a million books. What’s your book Hit Reverse about? Please share 3 key lessons in the book. Hit Reverse has 750+ new ideas from 75+ old books. People should read my book if they want the best insights from old classics (and some forgotten gems) but don't have the time to read them. Here are 3 snippets: 1. Charisma is being comfortable in your own skin. Here’s La Rochefoucauld, 16th century French writer, on how to be irresistible: "There is an air which belongs to the figure and talents of each individual...We should try to find out what air is natural to us and never abandon it, but make it as perfect as we can." Authenticity is hot. 2. Napoleon on Courage: "Courage can't be counterfeited—it's a virtue which escapes hypocrisy." Courage with logical thought is unbeatable: "The burst of courage which, despite the suddenness of events, still leaves you capable of thought, of judgment and decision, is excessively rare." 3. Men and women miscommunicate because they dance to DIFFERENT rhythms. Nietzsche: "The same emotions in man and woman are different in tempo: therefore man and woman never cease to misunderstand one another." Well-arranged differences in tempo, however, make a song… Since most of your content involves research - how do you spend your day? I cast a wide net. I go down rabbit holes. I read wikipedia, wikiquotes, old essays, old letters, old journal entries. My goal is to find ideas that are useful, interesting, and memorable. That's the golden trifecta - not easy to find! But extremely rewarding when I do… What is a philosophy/ theory that you came across recently that has baffled you? Historian Stephen Meyer says there are some very weird gaps in the evolution of life. There are sudden explosions in new species, sudden increases in the size and capacity of the human brain - from 1 to 100 with nothing in between. Explosions and improvements so sudden that the normal evolutionary process, which takes millions of years, just can't explain them. He's saying there was some extraterrestrial influence. Very baffling idea - but he's a brilliant guy and makes his case really well. You were recently a speaker at Brainbar. What did you speak about there? Brainbar is an incredible conference based out of Budapest, Hungary. Thousands of high school and college students come each year to hear talks on technology, history, and much more. This year they were kind enough to invite me for a keynote address. My talk's title was "5 Modern Mistakes." It will be out soon! What is your opinion on these three current trends - self care, revenge travel and international education? I think the best form of self-care is getting richer, hotter, and more powerful. Revenge travel - I had to google what it means. Hah - I'm generally pro-revenge, just don't physically hurt anyone

Vinod Khosla sends congratulatory message to Musk over Trump's win, says 'you can get him to do...'

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has endorsed a controversial idea that could reshape US economic policy: allowing the president to have direct influence over Federal Reserve decisions, according to a detailed report by CNBC.

Musk’s endorsement came on Friday in response to a social media post by Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah), who called for the Federal Reserve to be brought under presidential control, ending its long-standing independence. Lee's tweet included the hashtag #EndtheFed, and Musk responded with a simple “100” emoji, signaling his agreement, explained the CNBC report further.

Pressure is building up to reduce autonomy of the Federal Reserve<o:p></o:p>

The endorsement is significant as it reflects growing pressure from some conservative figures, including Musk and Trump supporters, to reduce the autonomy of the central bank. This pressure could intensify if Donald Trump returns to the White House in 2024, signalling a potential shift in economic policy priorities.

Senator Lee’s proposal aims to give the president direct authority over the Federal Reserve, including control over its monetary policy decisions, such as setting interest rates. Traditionally, the Federal Reserve operates independently from the executive branch to shield its decisions from political pressures. This independence is seen as crucial for making objective, long-term economic choices based on data rather than political considerations.

However, this tradition has been increasingly challenged, especially by Trump. During his first term, Trump frequently criticized Fed Chairman Jerome Powell, publicly disagreeing with his policies and even suggesting that Powell should be replaced.

Powell reiterated that he would not resign<o:p></o:p>

Further, in a recent statement, Powell reiterated that he would not resign if Trump asked him to, signalling a potential return to tension between the White House and the Federal Reserve under another Trump presidency.

The issue of presidential influence over the Fed gained additional traction during the 2024 campaign. Trump has repeatedly suggested that the president should have a greater role in shaping US monetary policy.

In August, he argued that his business success and financial acumen gave him better instincts than the economists at the Federal Reserve. "I think I have a better instinct than, in many cases, people that would be on the Federal Reserve or the chairman," Trump said during a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago estate, the CNBC report explained further.

Musk’s endorsement of Lee’s call to #EndtheFed is part of a broader movement that seeks to reshape the economic governance of the United States, and could become a key issue in the coming years.

As debates over Fed independence intensify, the future of US monetary policy remains uncertain, with the potential for significant shifts depending on how things evolve in the global economy

Musk supports Trump’s push to weaken Fed independence

Tesla Inc. achieved a significant milestone on Friday as its market capitalisation surged past the USD 1 trillion mark, driven by investor optimism that CEO Elon Musk's strong support for President-elect Donald Trump during the campaign will translate into favourable policies for the electric vehicle manufacturer.

The company's shares experienced a remarkable 8.2% surge, closing at USD 321.22, marking the first time Tesla's valuation has exceeded the trillion-dollar threshold since early 2022. This week's extraordinary rally, which added more than USD 230 billion to Tesla's market value, represents the company's strongest performance since January 2023, with shares climbing an impressive 29%.

Garrett Nelson, senior equity analyst at CFRA Research, highlighted the potential benefits for Tesla under the new administration: "Tesla and CEO Elon Musk are perhaps the biggest winners from the election result, and we believe Trump's victory will help expedite regulatory approval of the company's autonomous driving technology."

Industry sources suggest that Musk's influence could lead to more favourable regulation of autonomous vehicles, a crucial development for Tesla's future growth. Additionally, the company might benefit from a potentially more lenient approach from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration regarding the safety oversight of Tesla's current driver-assistance systems.

The surge in Tesla's stock price has had a direct impact on Musk's personal wealth, which has now exceeded USD 300 billion according to Forbes' real-time billionaires list. This wealth accumulation comes as Musk has strategically shifted Tesla's focus toward self-driving vehicle technology, moving away from earlier plans to develop a more affordable vehicle priced under USD 30,000.

David Whiston, equity strategist at Morningstar, emphasised the potential industry-wide benefits of federal standardisation: "If Musk can convince Trump to establish federal autonomous vehicle rules, we think that's a good thing for the auto industry because we think firms want one set of rules rather than each state making their own."

The market enthusiasm also follows Tesla's recent quarterly earnings report, where the company revealed improved profit margins and projected delivery growth of 20% to 30% for the coming year. This positive outlook has helped maintain Tesla's position as the world's most valuable automaker, significantly outpacing traditional competitors like Toyota Motor, as well as emerging electric vehicle manufacturers such as China's BYD.

Tesla's current market valuation reflects extraordinary investor confidence, with the company trading at 93.47 times its 12-month forward earnings estimates. This premium valuation substantially exceeds that of other major technology and automotive companies, including Nvidia (38.57), Microsoft (30.77), and Ford (6.29).

However, industry analysts note that while Tesla's autonomous driving ambitions show promise, the company continues to face both technical and regulatory challenges in bringing fully self-driving vehicles to market. The success of these initiatives will largely depend on the new administration's approach to autonomous vehicle regulation and safety standards.

Tesla surges past USD 1 trillion valuation

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has escalated its scrutiny of Tesla's communications strategy, expressing serious concerns about social media posts that could mislead consumers about the capabilities of its Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology. The federal safety agency argues that these posts may encourage dangerous misuse of the driver assistance system.

In a detailed email dated May 14, released publicly on Friday, NHTSA directly challenged Tesla's social media messaging, particularly posts that could lead consumers to view FSD as an autonomous robotaxi service rather than what it actually is: a partial automation system requiring constant driver attention and occasional intervention.

The timing of this communication is particularly significant, as it comes amid an ongoing NHTSA investigation launched in October into 2.4 million Tesla vehicles equipped with FSD software. This investigation was prompted by four reported collisions, including a fatal crash in 2023, occurring under challenging visibility conditions such as sun glare, fog, and airborne dust.

Of particular concern to NHTSA were specific posts on X (formerly Twitter) that the agency believes could promote unsafe usage of the FSD system. These included Tesla's reposting of an account describing a driver using FSD to navigate a 13-mile journey to an emergency room during a heart attack, and another post showcasing a 50-minute autonomous drive home from a sporting event.

"We believe that Tesla's postings conflict with its stated messaging that the driver is to maintain continued control over the dynamic driving task," NHTSA wrote in its communication with the automaker. The agency has requested Tesla to reconsider its communication strategy regarding FSD capabilities.

In response to these concerns during a May meeting, Tesla defended its position by pointing to disclaimers in its owner's manual and other documentation that clearly state the vehicle is not autonomous and requires driver vigilance. However, this response has not fully addressed NHTSA's concerns about the potential disconnect between official documentation and social media messaging.

The investigation has taken on added urgency following a tragic incident in Rimrock, Arizona, where a 71-year-old woman was fatally struck by a Tesla operating in FSD mode. The driver, who was battling sun glare at the time, was not charged in the incident. This case has become a focal point in discussions about FSD's ability to handle challenging environmental conditions.

NHTSA has set a December 18 deadline for Tesla to respond to a series of detailed questions about the investigation, particularly focusing on the system's "potential failure to perform, including detecting and responding appropriately in specific situations where there is reduced roadway visibility that may limit FSD's ability to safely operate."

The agency's investigation will also examine whether the system provides adequate feedback to drivers when operating beyond its capabilities, a crucial safety consideration for partial automation systems.

This latest development follows Tesla's December 2023 agreement to recall over 2 million vehicles in the United States to install new safeguards in its Autopilot system, a decision made under pressure from NHTSA. The agency continues to evaluate whether these safeguards adequately address safety concerns.

The situation is particularly complex given that Elon Musk serves as both Tesla's CEO and the owner of X, the platform where many of the controversial posts appeared. This dual role raises questions about the alignment of corporate messaging across different platforms and its impact on public safety.

NHTSA has set a December 18 deadline for Tesla to respond to a series of detailed questions about the investigation, particularly focusing on the system's "potential failure to perform, including detecting and responding appropriately in specific situations where there is reduced roadway visibility that may limit FSD's ability to safely operate." The agency's investigation will also examine whether the system provides adequate feedback to drivers when operating beyond its capabilities, a crucial safety consideration for partial automation systems.

Elon Musk’s rant didn’t just stop there. Elon had hosted Saturday Night Live&nbsp;in May 2021. Taking a dig at the show, Musk further wrote, “SNL has been dying slowly for years, as they become increasingly out of touch with reality. Their last-ditch effort to cheat the equal airtime requirements and prop up Kamala before the election only helped sink her campaign further.”&nbsp;

Interestingly, Dana Carvey has mostly played Joe Biden on the show. He spent the first five episodes of SNL playing former President Joe Biden. As the SNL cast showered sarcastic praise on President-elect Donald Trump, Carvey entered the stage sporting Musk’s signature black-on-black wardrobe and MAGA hat.

In the episode, Dana jumped up and down and said, “Check it out: dark MAGA. Yeah! But seriously, I run the country now. America’s going to be like one of my rockets. They’re super cool and super fun, but there’s a slight chance it could blow up and everybody dies. Haha!”

Staying in character, Dana then copied how Musk chanted “USA. USA” during one of Trump’s rallies and said, “See you in the White House!”

Elon Musk took part in a phone call between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President-elect Donald Trump after his election victory, a senior Ukrainian official told AFP Friday (Nov 8). "I confirm it," the presidency official who asked to remain anonymous told AFP, saying that the claim in a report by US news site Axios about the call on Wednesday was accurate. Musk, the world's richest man, played a major role in the Republican campaign, spending over $110 million of his fortune to help get him elected. Trump has said he aims to include Musk in some form of advisory role in his upcoming government. His presence during an official call underlines his close ties to the next US president. "But the main conversation was of course with Trump," the source added, while saying he and Zelensky "didn't discuss anything substantial, it was just a greeting conversation". Zelensky congratulates Trump Zelensky earlier said that he and Trump shared an "excellent" call, where he congratulated the Republican on his "tremendous victory" and they agreed to "maintain close dialogue and advance our cooperation". He did not mention speaking to Musk. When contacted by AFP, Trump's team declined to confirm the Tesla boss's participation in the call, saying they would not discuss private conversations. Axios reported, citing two sources, that the call lasted some 25 minutes and left Zelensky somewhat reassured by what he heard from Trump, without giving specifics. Elon Musk makes surprise appearance on Trump-Zelensky phone call: Reports

After all the frenzy around the US presidential election, the Americans finally made a choice on November 5 by choosing Republican Donald Trump as their next President. At the victory speech, the former President was joined by his running mate JD Vance, his entire family and a very special guest- Elon Musk.

While addressing his supporters at Mar-a-Lago in Florida after the election win, Trump introduced Musk as “a star is born,” amid an enthusiastic crowd.&nbsp;

The great introduction came after the Tesla CEO’s great support of Trump in his campaign—from attending rallies to donating more than $100 million to Republican causes, Musk did it all. Now, reports are surfacing that the billionaire mid-lands a role in Trump’s new cabinet, which is set to be inaugurated on January 6.

Trump first revealed such plans during an interview in October, where he said he is looking to appoint a “secretary of cost-cutting.” He also insisted that he would defer to Musk when it came to shutting down various agencies and essentially “trimming” the government.

“I’m going to have Elon Musk — he is dying to do this. You know, he’s a great business guy, actually. You think of him for science and rockets. And every time I think he’s telling me about a new screw that was developed, he’s developed a new screw — screws are difficult — and it’s made out of titanium, and it’s so exciting. But you know what? He’s a great business guy, and he’s a great cost-cutter. You’ve seen that. And he said&nbsp;I could cut costs without affecting anybody,” Trump told Fox News during an interaction.

Trump 2.0 cabinet to have Elon Musk as 'secretary of cost-cutting'? Tesla CEO says…

Tesla CEO and billionaire Elon Musk took aim at Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, predicting Trudeau's defeat in the next Canadian federal election, scheduled to take place on or before October 20, 2025.

Republicans won big up and down the ballot in the 2024 election, and so did a key group of supporters: billionaire oligarchs who invested their immense wealth and resources in a red wave. WION decodes billionaires behind Trump's victory.

Musk, Thiel And Other Billionaires Pledge Support For Donald Trump

Apart from literally dodging the bullet, there were a number of things Republican Donald Trump did right in his successful bid to return as United States president. Here is a breakdown of the factors that contributed to doing what was deemed impossible: winning the White House for a non-consecutive second term.

<h2>1. Early bird gets the votes: Starting campaign before election season</h2>

Trump's campaign was not months, but years old. He announced his re-election campaign way back in 2022, as soon as the dust settled on the Covid pandemic. He established his campaign team, without allowing any of them to dominate the headlines, unlike people like Kellyanne Conway in his first campaign of 2016, who became the story. In 2024, his comms team was almost invisible, till he called them on stage to thank them during his victory speech on the night of November 5. Susie Wiles, who will now become his chief of staff, is one among them.

<h2>2. Playing victim card on legal troubles</h2>

There was an appearance that the Democratic regime was trying to send Trump to jail over a number of cases: election subversion related to the Capitol riots of 6 January 2021, tax-related lawsuits and the Stormy Daniels affair being prominent among them. But each court appearance made him a star in the eyes of his supporters, who only grew in numbers as the cases dragged on. Trump called it a 'witch hunt', as it was pretty clear that none of these would lead to any logical conclusion, for fear of upsetting presidential immunity. Had Trump been jailed (if he lost the election), that would have set the precedent of future governments prosecuting past presidents. Trump played the victim card to the hilt, which appears to have appealed to more voters than Democrats expected.

</div>
<a class="close-mark close-div" href="#" id="jqclosemark">×</a></div>

<h2>3. Not involving his family: It was always 'I, me, myself'</h2>

Trump's family – particularly his wife Melania, daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner – were hounded with disparaging stories in the liberal media throughout his presidency of 2016-2020. This time around, he appears to have taken a conscious decision not to foreground his family. Most of the time, Ivanka and Kushner kept a low profile, even appearing to distance themselves from the campaign. Melania came to the limelight with her book, but Trump only occasionally mentioned her on the campaign trail, and she herself appeared only sporadically with him.&nbsp;

<a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/us-election-2024-results-live-updates-latest-news-on-2024-presidential-election-donald-trump-vs-kamala-harris-773440">Also read: AS IT HAPPENED | US Election Results 2024: Donald Trump wins presidency with clear mandate</a>

<h2>4. Dodging the bullet in a key swing state</h2>

The biggest moment for Trump's entire campaign was the failed assassination bid on&nbsp;July 13, when he was addressing a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. In hindsight, the fact that it happened in Pennsylvania was to his great advantage, with the crucial swing state eventually giving him the electoral college votes that put paid to the election. Trump's fist-pumping and exhortation to the crowd 'fight, fight, fight' later became a rallying cry and campaign slogan/placard sign for his base.

<a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/i-dont-get-it-moment-polling-nostradamus-realises-his-prediction-of-kamala-harris-win-is-wrong-774169">Also read: 'I don’t get it': Moment ‘polling Nostradamus’ realises his prediction of Kamala Harris' win is wrong</a>

<h2>5. Not talking to liberal press and not&nbsp;depending on celebrity endorsements</h2>

This time, Trump carefully chose who he gave interviews to, almost always avoiding the liberal media. He instead gave a long interview to Joe Rogan, the popular podcaster, and Tucker Carlson, the former Fox News host. It helped that former Fox News host Megyn Kelly was by his side and spoke for him at his rallies, giving a different perspective to the stereotype that Trump was disliked by women.

<h2>6. Not taking part in primary debates</h2>

Trump mostly ignored his own party's candidate nomination process, not taking part in the Republican primary debates, instead focusing on holding rallies across the country to activate his base. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, his first major challenger, eventually exited. Those who came up as his potential challengers during the primaries either joined him – like Vivek Ramaswamy – or grudgingly accepted his dominance as the presumptive nominee – like Nikki Haley, who was the holdout until the last minute. Outside the party, the only non-viable yet, potentially vote-cutting, independent candidate Robert F Kennedy Jr eventually endorsed Trump.

<h2>7. Changing the Republican party to suit him: The Trump takeover</h2>

Over the past years, Trump moulded the Republican party on his own self. Its concerns became the same as his: fight against illegal immigration, upholding conservative values when it came to issues like abortion and transgender rights, advocating the least government intervention including no tax hikes for the upper middle class and the wealthy. He endorsed Republican candidates for Senate, House and governor races, and even some local polls, with most of them going on to win. The icing on the cake was his appointment of a family member as the Republican Party's National Committee. Lara Trump, the former TV producer married to Trump's son Eric, became the RNC co-chair in March, a crowning moment for the Trump takeover of his party.

<h2>8. Appealing to the grassroots, amplifying their fears</h2>

Trump appealed to the overwhelming fears of the white majority about illegal immigration, disruption of the family unit through increasing rights for same-sex unions and transgenders, and perceived threat to deeply held Christian values in much of middle and southern America. As the final electoral results map shows, this helped him cut into the so-called blue states, essentially breaking the votes from north to south in the middle of America, leaving the Democratic contender Kamala Harris with only the more liberal states in the east and west coasts. While Democrats felt abortion was a major issue that would swing women against Trump, it appears that many women disagreed.

<h2>9. Knowing the pulse of working class on immigration, economy</h2>

By amplifying the concerns about slow job growth, illegal migration&nbsp;and urban blight, Trump was able to add more supporters from non-white communities too. Hispanics in the country were equally fearful of the migration caravans coming in from Latin America as much as the white majority. Because one, it disrupted their lives and exposed them to racist attacks. And two, illegal migrants were competition for them. Many Latinos who voted for Trump may have carefully considered these issues before making that decision. With the African American community too, there appears to have been a shift, albeit minor. Those Blacks who voted for Trump were basically doing a protest vote against the Democrats, who they felt appeared to lecture them. Every election season, leaders like Barack Obama and Michelle Obama appeal to the Black community, even as Democratic governments did not make their lives any better. At least that was the perception among the pro-Trump Blacks, who voted in hopes that any improvement in the economy under Trump would help them get jobs.

<h2>10. Not doing too many debates</h2>

Trump never appeared too keen to do presidential debates. The only time he debated Joe Biden (he was the 'original' Democratic presidential candidate, remember?), he came out on top, not by his own performance but because of how incoherent the incumbent president sounded. To his credit, Trump was much more calm and collected when he debated Kamala Harris, a far cry from his aggressive ways during the debates with Hillary Clinton in 2016.

<h2>11. Concentrating on swing states, and getting shot in one of them</h2>

Trump concentrated much of his energies on the seven swing states: Georgia, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Nevada, Michigan, Wisconsin and North Carolina. Among these, Georgia and North Carolina with their anti-Black racist history and population dynamics were tough to crack into. Georgia was also the scene of battle of the 2020 election rigging claims by Trump, so it sounded improbable that he would win there. Trump concentrated on these states during his campaign, was shot at in one of them as mentioned earlier, and eventually won or flipped all of them.

<h2>12. Appealing to young voters: TikTok generation loved him</h2>

It might sound improbable, but Trump's non-committal stance on banning TikTok, the Chinese-owned video-sharing platform massively loved by American youth, may have contributed to his appeal among Gen Z. Many TikTokers and TikTok users hated the Biden administration for the ban move. At a desperate moment, Biden himself joined TikTok even amid these moves, but it was far too little, too late. Trump supporters amplified his views and stances on various issues through TikTok as well as other social media apps.

<h2>13. Embracing social media, and Elon Musk</h2>

Trump started Truth Social when his social media accounts, particularly Twitter under the old management, banned his accounts. Over the years, Twitter was taken over by Elon Musk, a 'free-speech absolutist' who did not squirm at any of the white supremacist conspiracies being peddled on the now-rechristened X. Contrary to market pundits' expectations, Truth Social took off massively as the platform to share pro-Trump and Conservative views. When Trump rejected a platform, he created his own.

<a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/musks-interview-with-trump-on-x-hit-by-massive-cyberattack-749606">Also read: Donald Trump's interview with Elon Musk on X hit by 'massive' cyberattack</a>

Democrats underestimated the fact that half of the electorate was logged on to a non-legacy platform and getting their information from it. Towards the final lap of his campaign, Musk became an open supporter of Trump and addressed his rallies. For Musk, it was a desperate moment, as he feared Harris, if elected, would have folded up X. Add to this the legacy media's unwillingness to endorse Harris, Los Angeles Times and Washington Post being the most prominent examples.

<h2>14. Having a lot of money</h2>

Money speaks in American politics, and having a lot of it is helpful. Trump practically ran most of his campaign out of his own pocket, with the erstwhile mass donors like super PACs not emerging as key players unlike in past elections. Trump's wealth, fuelled mainly by the growth of Truth Social was listed in stock exchanges in March this year and helped bankroll a major part of his campaign, along with some super donors. Clearly, having the richest man in the world Elon Musk by his side may have helped things too.

<h2>15. A little bit of help from Democrats</h2>

Much more than anything Trump did, it was perhaps the disarray and disunity among Democrats and the often incoherent speeches of both its candidates – Biden and Harris – that probably led many undecided voters to cast their ballots in favour of Trump. 'Chaos' was a favourite word of Trump-bashing media during his presidency, but Democrats became the embodiment of that description this election season.

The first issue was Biden's insistence on seeking another term despite pressure from his own party, a stark contrast with his public appearances and statements that exposed the weak state of his mind and body.

When Kamala Harris was thrust into the campaign, the Democratic primaries had already chosen Biden as their candidate in the primaries. That she did not have to go through the pains of the primaries contest may have alienated even many Democrats, because, let's face it, it ain't fair.

In her short and sprightly campaign, Kamala appeared out of touch with the realities of middle-class America, even as she kept on saying she comes from such a family. Her record as a prosecutor who sent many Blacks to jail did not augur well for her campaign either.

Also read: 'I don’t get it': Moment ‘polling Nostradamus’ realises his prediction of Kamala Harris' win is wrong 5. Not talking to liberal press and not depending on celebrity endorsements This time, Trump carefully chose who he gave interviews to, almost always avoiding the liberal media. 6. Not taking part in primary debates Trump mostly ignored his own party's candidate nomination process, not taking part in the Republican primary debates, instead focusing on holding rallies across the country to activate his base. 7. Changing the Republican party to suit him: The Trump takeover Over the past years, Trump moulded the Republican party on his own self. 8. Appealing to the grassroots, amplifying their fears Trump appealed to the overwhelming fears of the white majority about illegal immigration, disruption of the family unit through increasing rights for same-sex unions and transgenders, and perceived threat to deeply held Christian values in much of middle and southern America. 9. Knowing the pulse of working class on immigration, economy By amplifying the concerns about slow job growth, illegal migration and urban blight, Trump was able to add more supporters from non-white communities too. 10. Not doing too many debates Trump never appeared too keen to do presidential debates. The only time he debated Joe Biden (he was the 'original' Democratic presidential candidate, remember?), he came out on top, not by his own performance but because of how incoherent the incumbent president sounded. To his credit, Trump was much more calm and collected when he debated Kamala Harris, a far cry from his aggressive ways during the debates with Hillary Clinton in 2016. 11. Concentrating on swing states, and getting shot in one of them Trump concentrated much of his energies on the seven swing states: Georgia, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Nevada, Michigan, Wisconsin and North Carolina. 12. Appealing to young voters: TikTok generation loved him It might sound improbable, but Trump's non-committal stance on banning TikTok, the Chinese-owned video-sharing platform massively loved by American youth, may have contributed to his appeal among Gen Z. Many TikTokers and TikTok users hated the Biden administration for the ban move. At a desperate moment, Biden himself joined TikTok even amid these moves, but it was far too little, too late. Trump supporters amplified his views and stances on various issues through TikTok as well as other social media apps. 13. Embracing social media, and Elon Musk Trump started Truth Social when his social media accounts, particularly Twitter under the old management, banned his accounts. Also read: Donald Trump's interview with Elon Musk on X hit by 'massive' cyberattack Democrats underestimated the fact that half of the electorate was logged on to a non-legacy platform and getting their information from it. 14. Having a lot of money Money speaks in American politics, and having a lot of it is helpful. 15. A little bit of help from Democrats Much more than anything Trump did, it was perhaps the disarray and disunity among Democrats and the often incoherent speeches of both its candidates – Biden and Harris – that probably led many undecided voters to cast their ballots in favour of Trump. Disclaimer: The views of the writer do not represent the views of WION or ZMCL. US elections 2024 analysis: How Trump won against Harris - 15 things his campaign got right

The CEO of Tesla, billionaire Elon Musk and one of the biggest supporters of president-elect Donald Trump, has been probably the most active unofficial Trump campaigner on X, which is also owned by Musk. He has shared a lot of videos, and posts and even replied to some during and after the US presidential election.

In the hope of getting a response from Musk, the staunch supporter of the Republican candidate, an Indian man took to X and asked him to ensure there were H-1B visa reforms, not that Trump had won the election.

“Dear @elonmusk, Congratulations on winning the election! It took you 10 years to obtain citizenship in the USA, including your undergraduate and master's studies. You moved to the US in 1992 and became a US citizen in 2002,” Sanjeev Ranjan wrote on X. “Please do justice for Indian-born H-1B visas.”

If this is true then Musk's support and promotion for Trump’s opposition to "open borders," is ironic. He even previously said that his transition from student to entrepreneur was a "legal grey area."

However, Musk later denied the claims made in the report. Sharing a video of Joe Biden referencing the Washington Post report’s claims on X, Musk wrote, “I was in fact allowed to work in the US. The Biden puppet is lying.”

Experts are expecting Trump could tighten H-1B visa rules after assuming office, which will be a major setback for Indians seeking to move to the US.
