It was followed by two earthquakes of magnitude 3.1, which hit the Rajasthan capital at 4.22 am, and a 3.4-magnitude tremor that shook the city at 4.25 am, according to the NCS data. 
 
The Police Control Room in Jaipur said there was no immediate information about any loss of life or damage to property.

People took to social media to share pictures of individuals gathered outside their buildings.

Murari Lal Meena, minister for tourism and civil aviation in the state of&nbsp;Rajasthan in a tweet said, “Earthquake in Jaipur. I hope you all are safe!"

Reacting to the tremors, former Chief Minister of Rajasthan Vasundhara Raje wrote on Twitter: "Earthquake tremors have been felt at other places in the state including Jaipur. I hope you all are safe!"

Jaipur city in western India jolted by three earthquakes

Croatia was hit by a 6.4 magnitude earthquake on Tuesday with the epicentre in Petrinja town, 50 km from Croatia's capital Zagreb.

The earthquake led Slovenia to shut down its Krsko nuclear power plant as a "precaution".

The earthquake was also felt in the Austrian capital Vienna, reports said. The quake was followed by an aftershock registering 4.9 magnitude, the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre(EMSC) said.
