According to a Bloomberg report, the investment bank's analysts outlined that every percentage point increase in the effective tariff rate could possibly reduce US growth by up to 0.15 per cent, particularly if China responds with retaliatory measures. <o:p></o:p>

Even if the resulting revenue from tariffs is utilised to finance tax cuts, leading to increased spending and investment, the impact on gross domestic product (GDP) would still be huge, with a projected minimum decline of 0.05 per cent.<o:p></o:p>

The post attacked New York State Supreme Court Judge Juan Merchan, who is presiding over the hush money case.

Judge Juan Merchan has prohibited Trump from speaking about the case’s witnesses, jurors and lawyers in public. Additionally, the gag order restricts him from publicly speaking about court staff, employees in the Manhattan District Attorney’s office and their family members.

The gag order came after Trump urged Merchan to recuse himself from the case. Trump claims Merchan to be compromised as his daughter serves at a progressive consulting firm that has worked for Democrats.

When Trump went after Merchan’s daughter, he expanded the scope of the gag order to prohibit direct attacks on his own family members and those of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

In his third media interview since being named president-elect of the COP29 summit, Mukhtar Babayev has told the US news website Newsweek that he expects the US to maintain its climate commitments no matter who wins the US Presidential election.

"We hope that all the countries, including the United States, will demonstrate their readiness to fulfill their obligations, to fulfill their readiness to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees above pre-industrial levels," he said.

COP29 is scheduled to happen one week after the US Presidential election in November. Former US president Donald Trump's bid to dismiss the classified documents case was denied by a judge on Thursday (April 4).&nbsp;

Trump has been accused of mishandling classified documents during his tenure as the president and has argued that the documents were seen as personal papers under the Presidential Records Act.

The charges against Trump "make no reference to the Presidential Records Act, nor do they rely on that statute for purposes of stating an offence," wrote US District Judge Aileen Cannon.

"For these reasons, accepting the allegations of the Superseding Indictment as true, the Presidential Records Act does not provide a pre-trial basis to dismiss," the judge added. This also raised the possibility of the argument being used by the defence in the case later.&nbsp;

Cannon had asked the two sides to address the argument of whether the national security documents can be labelled as personal in proposed jury instructions. Special counsel Jack Smith's office said that the argument was "fundamentally flawed".

Trump has been charged by Special Counsel Smith in a 40-count indictment which includes 32 alleged violations of a national security law called the Espionage Act, under which it is illegal to mishandle national defence information.

More than 300 sensitive government records were finally recovered by the FBI from Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence and he was accused of keeping them illegally by the prosecutors.

In her Thursday ruling (April 4), the judge said that the issue now is "unprecedented and unjust."

Cannon said that her order soliciting preliminary draft instructions was "a genuine attempt, in the context of the upcoming trial, to better understand the parties’ competing positions and the questions to be submitted to the jury in this complex case."

As per the Presidential Records Act, the president is required to return the presidential records at the end of their term, however, they can keep their personal records, which they refer to as documents which contain “highly personal information, such as diaries, journals, and medical records.”&nbsp;

Former United States president Donald Trump’s bid to delay his trial on charges based on hush money transferred to adult film actress Stormy Daniels was rejected by a New York judge.&nbsp;

Trump's lawyers had requested to adjourn the hearing in the New York hush money case until the Supreme Court rules on presidential immunity.

The case is with Judge Juan Merchan in Manhattan and its hearing is scheduled to start on April 15.&nbsp;

Merchan said that the request of the former president was untimely and ruled that his lawyers had many opportunities to raise the issue of presidential immunity before but they chose to raise it in a&nbsp;March 7 court filing.

The judge on Wednesday (April 3) ruled that former president Donald Trump is not immune from prosecution in the hush money case since he did not invoke the defence in a timely manner.

Judge Juan Merchan ruled that the former president was "well aware" he could try claiming presidential immunity after being indicted a year ago on charges of falsifying business records which were connected with hush money transferred to Daniels.&nbsp;

"Nonetheless, the defendant chose not to raise the defence of presidential immunity until well past the 45-day period provided by statute," Merchan said.

Merchan did not rule on the merits of the immunity claim made by Trump and decided to focus on the timing, which he claimed tested "this court's credulity."

"This Court finds that Defendant had myriad opportunities to raise the claim of presidential immunity well before March 7, 2024," wrote Merchan.

<h2>Judge relying on 'fundamentally flawed legal premise' in Trump's classified information case: Special counsel&nbsp;</h2>

In Donald Trump's criminal case, where he is charged with retaining classified information, special counsel Jack Smith in a court filing said that the judge was relying on a “fundamentally flawed legal premise” when asking lawyers to look into whether the former president can claim presidential immunity as per federal records law.

Smith added that if Judge Aileen Cannon gives the ruling that Trump can use the Presidential Records Act (PRA) in his defence, he will file another appeal in a higher court and will seek an order for the judge to correctly apply the law.

NBC News, quoting a report by Advance Democracy, stated that the social media accounts purportedly associated with Bolling, reportedly have a track record of spreading conspiracy theories related to the 2020 presidential election and QAnon.

One account thought to be connected to Bolling wrote, "I love you @realDonaldTrump," back in December 2020, according to Advance Democracy. "You have more support than even you know."

According to Advance Democracy, a different Telegram account with the name "Lee Bolling" and a handle that Bolling seems to have used on other platforms belonged to nine public organisations, some of which were associated with QAnon.

Details of the Advance Democracy report were first published by Wired.

“We don’t yet know the individual’s motivation for using his vehicle to crash into a gate at the FBI’s Atlanta Field Office," Jones said. "But this individual’s suspected social media activity is part of a trend: Trump supporters espousing anti-government rhetoric and conspiracy theories — often echoing Trump’s own statements — that decide to take violent action against public officials."

Former&nbsp;United States&nbsp;president Donald Trump secured a $175 million bond in his New York civil fraud case on Monday (April 1) and averted the seizure of assets by the state authorities which may have placed his business empire in shambles.

Republican candidate Trump will be facing Democratic President Joe Biden in the general elections to be held in the United States in November.&nbsp;

On February 16, he was found liable for fraudulently inflating his net worth to secure better insurance and loan terms. &nbsp;

The $175 million bond was backed by the Knight Specialty Insurance Company, wrote an attorney for the Los Angeles-based firm in a court filing on Monday (April 1).

“As promised, President Trump has posted bond,” said Alina Habba, the former commander of chief’s lawyer, Alina Habba, in a statement. “He looks forward to vindicating his rights on appeal and overturning this unjust verdict," he added.

<h2>Court drastically reduced&nbsp;Trump's bond of $454 million</h2>

Trump was able to successfully lobby an appeals court to decrease the bond, after which the court drastically reduced the huge figures and gave the former president 10 days from the day of the court's decision (March 25) to post the lessened bond.

Earlier, Trump was required to post a bond for $454 million. However, the appeals court stayed the enforcement of the judgment delivered by Trump on the condition that the smaller sum would be paid by him in 10 days.

Trump's appeal will be heard by a three-judge panel in the appeals court on the merits. The reduction of the bond does not indicate how the panel will deliver the final ruling.

The bond has stopped New York Attorney General Letitia James from seizing Trump's properties, which include Trump Tower, his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida and his 370-acre resort and golf course in Westchester.

Trump denied any wrongdoing and claimed that the case was a political witch hunt against him by James, who is a Democrat and had sued him in 2022.

Justice Engoron, in a 92-page order, described how Trump asked the deputies to alter the values of his properties and reach a desired net worth a decade before he entered politics.

The case has been part of various legal troubles being faced by Trump, &nbsp;which includes a criminal trial in New York which is set to happen on April 15.&nbsp;

The judge, who was overseeing the criminal hush money trial of Donald Trump, imposed a gag order to include family members of the Manhattan district attorney and family members of the court, as per the latest ruling.

The ruling came after Trump made comments against the daughter of Judge Juan Merchan. The judge warned that the rhetoric of Trump threatens to instil fear in those who are&nbsp;part of the proceedings but might pull out&nbsp;for their loved ones.

“The average observer, must now, after hearing defendant’s recent attacks, draw the conclusion that if they become involved in these proceedings, even tangentially, they should worry not only for themselves, but for their loved ones as well,” wrote Merchan.&nbsp;

“Such concerns will undoubtedly interfere with the fair administration of justice and constitute a direct attack on the Rule of Law itself," he added.

“It is no longer just a mere possibility or a reasonable likelihood that there exists a threat to the integrity of the judicial proceedings. The threat is very real. Admonitions are not enough, nor is reliance on self-restraint,” he said.

Trump has been facing accusations of illegally covering up hush money payments made to a porn star before the 2016 election. In two cases, he has also been charged with making efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss to Biden and handling of classified documents after leaving office.&nbsp;&nbsp;

When asked to comment on the video, the US Secret Service said that it “does not confirm or comment on matters of protective intelligence.”

“This image from Donald Trump is the type of crap you post when you’re calling for a ‘bloodbath’ or when you tell the proud boys to ‘stand back and stand by,’” said Michael Tyler, the Biden campaign’s communications director, to CNN.&nbsp;

He added, “Trump is regularly inciting political violence and it’s time people take him seriously – just ask the Capitol police officers who were attacked protecting our democracy on January 6.”

Tyler’s statement referred to the former president’s violent and often inflammatory rhetoric. Earlier this month, Trump during a rally in the state of Ohio warned that there would be a “bloodbath” for the American auto industry and the country if he is not re-elected in&nbsp;the upcoming elections.&nbsp;

A report by BBC early Saturday (Mar 30) said that Trump's lawyers are appealing against a verdict from a Georgia judge allowing&nbsp;Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis to stay in the state's election subversion case.

The lawyers are also aiming to stop&nbsp;the expansion of a gag order, limiting Trump's speech, in the&nbsp;hush money trial.&nbsp;

In the election subversion case, Trump and his co-defendants alleged that Willis&nbsp;financially benefitted from an improper romantic relationship with Nathan Wade - a prosecutor she hired to lead the case. Judge Scott McAfee, who is overseeing the case, held two weeks of hearings which included a testimony from Willis who admitted being in a relationship with Wade but said she did not benefit from it financially.

Judge McAfee sided with Willis. He pointed out&nbsp;relationship had the "appearance of impropriety" and said that Willis or Wade should step down following which the latter did so.

In a motion filed&nbsp;before the Georgia Court of Appeals on Friday, Trump and&nbsp;co-defendants argued that Willis should be removed too. The lawyers of Trump and the co-defendants&nbsp;said that Wade stepping down did not&nbsp;sufficiently address the appearance of impropriety&nbsp;that cast a pall over the proceedings.

In the hush money trial,&nbsp;Trump has pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of falsifying business records to hide a $130,000 payment to adult actor Stormy&nbsp;Daniels.

On Friday,&nbsp;Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg sought to clarify - and possibly expand - the gag order barring Trump from attacking court staff and their families. The motion came after&nbsp;Trump insulted Merchan's daughter in a social media post before the gag order was issued.

Bragg asked Merchan to warn Trump and direct him to immediately desist. If Trump does not,&nbsp;the prosecutor argued, he should face sanctions, the report added.

However, Trump's lawyer&nbsp;Todd Blanche denied that the former president violated the gag order and argued that the judge's daughter was not a part of it. Blanche added that there was nothing wrong with the social media posts.

The above developments come as Trump faces four legal cases including the election subversion case and hush money trial- which are likely to be heard before the presidential elections in November. Trump has denied any wrongdoing in all cases.
