Prosecutors urged&nbsp;judge&nbsp;Juan Merchan to fine Trump $10,000 for violating the order which prohibits him from criticising witnesses and others involved in the case. "Defendant has violated this order repeatedly and hasn't stopped," New York prosecutor Christopher Conroy said in the New York courtroom.

Conroy also added that Trump’s attacks on social media forced a juror last week to withdraw over privacy concerns.

"He knows what he's not allowed to do and he does it anyway," Conroy said, adding, "His disobedience of the order is willful. It's intentional."

The hush money trial is over the alleged $130,000 payment made to porn star Stormy Daniels by Trump ahead of the 2016 presidential elections.

Trump’s defence attorney, however, claimed there has been "no willful violation" of the gag order. Todd Blanche, Trump's defence attorney, said, "President Trump does in fact know what the gag order allows him to do and not allow him to do."

During the trial, Judge Juan Merchan got heated up and asked to clarify why exactly Trump made those controversial posts.

In response, Blanche said Cohen, Trump’s former personal attorney, and Daniels had repeatedly criticised Trump politically in the lead-up to the trial.

These jurors spoke about their backgrounds and also shared their opinions regarding Trump before they were chosen for the job.

In her reply on opinion regarding Trump, a nurse said she "[doesn't] really have" an opinion regarding the former president.&nbsp;

The nurse promised that she was "here for my civic duty" and "to listen to the facts." Meanwhile, an IT consultant said, "My family is my hobby," and admitted to finding Trump "fascinating and mysterious."

Meanwhile, the teacher said, "President Trump speaks his mind, and I'd rather that than someone who's in office who you don't know what they're thinking." She did not know that Trump has been facing criminal charges in other cases as well.&nbsp;

Judge Juan Merchan asked the jurors to come back for opening statements on April 22. The court still needs to select at least five more jurors and nearly half a dozen alternates.

On Monday, Trump, 77, set yet another record by becoming the first-ever former US president to go on trial for criminal charges.&nbsp;

The charges are related to the case where Trump has been accused of paying hush money to porn star Stormy Daniels and falsifying business records to cover the payments.

The historic trial was set to begin with the selection of the jury, with Trump sitting on the defence table with his legal team in the State Supreme Court in Manhattan as prosecutors cited his criticism of witnesses, court officials and others over the years.&nbsp;

“The defendant has demonstrated his willingness to flout the order. He has attacked witnesses in the case, in the past he has attacked grand jurors in the case,” said prosecutor Christopher Conroy.&nbsp;

The New York prosecutors have asked Justice Juan Merchan to fine Trump $1,000 each for each of three social media reports about Daniels and his former lawyer and potential key witness in the trial Michael Cohen.&nbsp;

In a series of posts, on April 13, on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump called his former lawyer a “disgraced attorney and felon” and questioned how he hasn’t been “prosecuted for LYING.”&nbsp;

Last week, he also called both Cohen and Daniels “sleaze bags.” In March, Merchan, who is overseeing the trial, imposed a gag order on Trump on the prosecutors’ request to block him from speaking about the witnesses.&nbsp;

It was later expanded to include his own family members and those of the Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who brought the charges against the former president.&nbsp;

After a string of defeats in various courts to get the trial delayed, Trump showed up at the Manhattan courthouse, on Monday.&nbsp;

In a very short speech to the reporters gathered outside, the former president said a case “has never happened before, there has been never anything like this”.&nbsp;

He also claimed that “every legal scholar said this case is nonsense, it should have never been brought, there is no case” and went on to call it an “assault on America and that's why I'm very proud to be here.”&nbsp;

Shares of Donald Trump's social media company slumped 18 per cent on Monday, extending losses since the stock's debut last month, after the company said it could sell millions of shares in coming months, including the former president's entire stake.

Trading in Trump Media &amp; Technology Group, which operates Truth Social, has been volatile since its listing on March 26, attracting both loyal Trump fans and short sellers who see the stock as wildly overvalued.

The stock already has fallen nearly 60 per cent since it opened on its first day of trade at $70.90, after a blank-check merger with Digital World Acquisition Corp. The shares closed down 18.4 per cent at $26.61.

Monday's filing, known as a registration statement, is considered standard after a company goes public through a special purpose acquisition company, or SPAC. These "blank check" entities raise capital through an initial public offering to acquire or merge with a company that is not publicly traded.

In the vast majority of these mergers, the company is contractually required to file a resale statement for parties who may not be able to sell their shares freely without the registration, said Peter Byrne, a securities lawyer at Cooley LLP who specializes in the process of going public.

"It's completely standard," Byrne said.

Bankers and lawyers told Reuters while the filing does not indicate any imminent intention to sell from affiliates of the company, it does clear the way for Trump to sell his shares after the lock-up is expired or waived.

The filing showed a potential sale of 146.1 million shares, including Trump's stake of 114.8 million shares, divided between the 78.75 million he owns and an additional stake he could receive if certain performance-based measures are achieved.

The filing also listed an additional 21.5 million shares that could be sold upon the exercise of certain warrants issued when the company went public.
