Dev played a character named Arjun, a turbaned Sikh working under Chef Hemant Oberoi in Anthony Maras’ film.&nbsp;

Dev who was born and raised in England by Gujarati Indian parents is very far from speaking Hindi so it was an uphill task for him to get into the skin of the character.&nbsp;

Speaking about his preparation, Dev said, “I spent about a month with my coach Raghuveer Joshi working on the accent and the pitch. Since the character is fictional, there was no reference point. Looks-wise we built him up from ground zero. I had to completely change my appearance, work on my Hindi and Punjabi at the same time and ensure that the words sound correct in terms of tonality. I had done neither of these before but I am glad the film made me push myself to try out an uncharted territory personally.”

He added, “The story is close to me as I was shooting here for one month and the next in my house in London my parents looking at the TV screens and watching Mumbai burning, it was horrible!”

Actor Dev Patel accidentally elbowed his co-star Tilda Swinton while shooting their new movie 'The Personal History of David Copperfield'. 
 
The 29-year-old actor opened up about the incident during the movie's world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. "I accidentally elbowed Tilda in the mouth," he said.

"I was so nervous. It was my first scene with her. There's a whole thing where he's almost about to pass out and he's trying to find a couch to land on and I was spinning around and flailing and I kind of did like a UFC elbow. 
 
And Tilda just stopped and I thought,'I just broke Tilda's teeth in the first scene.'&nbsp;And she was very gracious about it. All of her teeth are intact," the actor added. 
 
While Patel plays the titular role, the 58-year-old actress has a supporting role in the upcoming movie directed by Armando Iannucci.

Dev Patel as a tech savvy youth recalls the series The Newsroom, but his acting is far more mature, substantial and gripping. Nicole Kidman as Sue Brierley totally did&nbsp;justice to the role of a mother of adopted kids.

Sunny Pawar is the young star to watch for. The innocence of childhood,&nbsp;the street smartness&nbsp;of a five-year-old, and the pain of separation are all so well portrayed by this prodigy.

Asked if he had an opportunity to meet Saroo before he began filming, the 26-year-old actor revealed that he had a &quot;very very special breakfast&quot; with him while shooting for the film in Australia.

On working with Nicole Kidman, Dev Patel said, &nbsp;&quot;It was mindboggling to be sharing the screen with the one and only Nicole Kidman she&#39;s a real screen icon. She&#39;s been nothing but gracious, warm and welcoming. To watch her perform in those scenes is something I&#39;ll never forget.&quot;
