A company in China has been sued by its two colleagues for terminating their employment after they were found to be having an extra-marital affair and openly kissing each other in the working space.

The man, who has been identified as Liu, and the woman, who is known as Chen, were working in the same department of a pharmaceutical company in Sichuan province, southwestern China, as reported by City Locale.

Their extra-marital affair was revealed when the wife of Liu shared the couple's chat records with the tennis chat group and the general manager of the company in March 2020, which led to their subsequent termination.

After the couple's affair was exposed, Liu applied for leave to “take care of family issues” and the husband of Chen confronted the couple in front of other colleagues.&nbsp;

However, the couple's affair continued and they were seen kissing each other again at work.

In October 2020, a female colleague asked Chen to stop her behaviour which turned into an argument.

A joint complaint letter was submitted to the general manager by seven colleagues the next day.

After this, the company fired Liu and Chen while stating that they “went off the rails and violated rules outlined in the employee handbook”.

The employees filed lawsuits against the company. In the lawsuit, Chen has demanded compensation of 26,000 yuan (US$3,700) and Liu asked for more than 230,000 yuan (US$32,000).

Yu Donglai, the founder and chairman of Pang Dong Lai, has declared that the employees of his retail company can claim 10 days of “unhappy leaves”. He took the decision because “everyone has times when they’re not happy, so if you’re not happy, do not come to work.” He also added that the management can’t deny these ‘unhappy leaves’ to the employees and doing so would be deemed a violation. “This leave cannot be denied by management. Denial is a violation,” he added.

According to local media, the Dongpo Paper company has devised a new rewards programme wherein the employees will get a bonus every month determined by how much they run, hike, walk or complete other exercises.

For example, an individual will receive a full 100 per cent bonus if they run 50km in a month, and 130 per cent if they run 100km, Guangzhou Daily reported.

Furthermore, those unable to run can earn money by participating in other physical exercises like mountain hiking and speed walking, which could account for 60 and 30 per cent, respectively, of the total exercise required.

Their monthly targets are recorded in an app, which is then shared with the company.

Furthermore, the company will provide bonuses and subsidies for employees to buy sports shoes according to their monthly running mileage of either 30km, 50km or 100km.

Fitness matters: Walk, run, jog, hike your way to the bank at this Chinese company

Contemporary Amperex Technology Limited (CATL), a Chinese company which is the world's largest battery maker, is saying that it has launched first-ever "superfast charging" battery. This battery is reportedly capable of delivering a range of 400 kilometres (249 miles) when charged for just 10 minutes.

The company is saying that its lithium-ion battery will open a new era for electric cars. This, said the company, would eliminate range anxiety for electric car owners.

The company said that when the battery is charged fully, it can offer a range of over 700 km till the next recharge. This is roughly 60 per cent more than the mileage of average electric vehicle.

The company has said that the increase in battery capacity and reduction in charge time was due to a “brand-new superconducting electrolyte formula”. This, the company said, has resulted in better conductivity.

“The future of the EV battery technology must remain steadfastly anchored at the global technology frontier, as well as the economic benefits,” said Dr Wu Kai, chief scientist at CATL, as quoted by The Independent.

“As EV consumers shift from pioneering users to ordinary users, we should make advanced technology accessible for all and enable everyone to savour the fruits of innovation.”

CATL manufactured more lithium-ion batteries than any of its competitors last year. It reportedly plans to begin mass manufacturing of next generation battery later this year.

It hasn't been revealed which carmaker would receive the new batteries first. CATL's customers include BMW, Tesla, Toyota, Volkswagen, Volvo, Honda and more.

Though sales of electric cars still amount to less than fifth of all car sales, there has been a record-breaking increase in the purchase of electric cars in recent years.

Range anxiety is said to be one of the main barriers for customers when they consider purchasing an electric vehicle. There are other challenged like battery degradation and access to battery materials. CATL claims the second point is not a problem with its latest battery.

Majority of the major carmakers has aimed to phase out cars with internal combustion engines fully by 2040. International Energy Agency says sale of electric cars will overtake that of fossil fuel-powered car within next 15 years. Breakthrough in battery technology is likely to reduce this time scale even more.

This battery is reportedly capable of delivering a range of 400 kilometres (249 miles) when charged for just 10 minutes. The company is saying that its lithium-ion battery will open a new era for electric cars. This, said the company, would eliminate range anxiety for electric car owners. The company said that when the battery is charged fully, it can offer a range of over 700 km till the next recharge. This is roughly 60 per cent more than the mileage of average electric vehicle. The company has said that the increase in battery capacity and reduction in charge time was due to a “brand-new superconducting electrolyte formula”. This, the company said, has resulted in better conductivity. “The future of the EV battery technology must remain steadfastly anchored at the global technology frontier, as well as the economic benefits,” said Dr Wu Kai, chief scientist at CATL, as quoted by The Independent. “As EV consumers shift from pioneering users to ordinary users, we should make advanced technology accessible for all and enable everyone to savour the fruits of innovation.” CATL manufactured more lithium-ion batteries than any of its competitors last year. It reportedly plans to begin mass manufacturing of next generation battery later this year. It hasn't been revealed which carmaker would receive the new batteries first. CATL's customers include BMW, Tesla, Toyota, Volkswagen, Volvo, Honda and more. Though sales of electric cars still amount to less than fifth of all car sales, there has been a record-breaking increase in the purchase of electric cars in recent years. Range anxiety is said to be one of the main barriers for customers when they consider purchasing an electric vehicle. There are other challenged like battery degradation and access to battery materials. CATL claims the second point is not a problem with its latest battery. Majority of the major carmakers has aimed to phase out cars with internal combustion engines fully by 2040. International Energy Agency says sale of electric cars will overtake that of fossil fuel-powered car within next 15 years. China puts restrictions on kids' clothing company after alleged COVID risk

The Congress on Tuesday questioned the government over a Chinese company's engagement in a smart metering project of the Jammu and Kashmir government and demanded answers as to what was the compulsion.

Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera alleged that Chinese company Dongfang has received a sub-contract for smart metering of power meters in Jammu and Kashmir and wondered how the power ministry could involve a Chinese firm in such a sensitive area.

"We want to know, what is the compulsion? Why would the government allow a company like Dongfang to get into Jammu and Srinagar, to get into the electricity power sector, to get into the RF technology area of the power sector. Why? What are your compulsions," he asked at a virtual press conference.

The Congress leader said on the one hand the government is banning Chinese apps, but on the other hand it is allowing something as critical as power consumption data going to the hands of Dongfang, which he claimed is not only reporting to the Chinese Army and the Chinese government, but has close ties with the current establishment of Pakistan.

"These are very critical questions, in a time when our brave jawans are trying to protect our borders in Ladakh. We do not expect the Government to act, the way it is acting," he said.

Khera also alleged that the Chinese company has several question marks around the globe for its integrity and for its proximity and direct control of the Chinese Army and the Chinese government.

"When that company is allowed to enter into a strategic area of a sensitive state like Jammu &amp; Kashmir, then there are question marks, then these are worrying signs," he said.

Khera said Dongfang was even banned by the World Bank for some time.
