The petitions will be heard by a bench headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra.

The apex court had earlier asked the Maharashtra Government to submit the postmortem report of the CBI judge, who had died in alleged suspicious circumstances in 2014, citing that the &quot;matter was very serious.&quot;

As per reports, Maharashtra-based journalist B.S. Lone and activist Tehseen Poonavala had filed independent pleas seeking a fair probe into the death of Justice Loya, who was hearing the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, involving various police officers and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah.

In a press conference held on January 12, Justices Madan B&nbsp;Lokur, Kurien Joseph, Ranjan Gogoi and Jasti Chelameswar questioned the conduct of the CJI, alleging that selective Benches were being appointed to preside over certain cases in the apex court.

Justice Loya&#39;s death is one among the certain cases hinted by the four judges.

The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) summoned the PNB management and Finance Ministry officials to appear before it.

Top officials of PNB and the Finance Ministry have been asked to appear before the CVC on February 19.

CVC is an apex governmental body to address governmental corruption.

Sources have told that MD and CEO, Punjab National Bank, Sunil Mehta is likely to appear before CVC on Monday at 11 a.m.&nbsp;He will be accompanied by Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of PNB.

On behalf of the Ministry of Finance, additional secretary, department of financial services is likely to be present.

Sources have also revealed that CVO PNB is most likely to give a presentation to CVC about the fraud which has shaken the banking system.

Further, before going to CVC, top management of PNB and senior officials of department of financial services had a meeting through video conferencing yesterday, according to sources.

On Monday, CVC will review the vigilance monitoring system of PNB and decide the necessary course of action to be taken.

CVC is the fourth government agency after ED, CBI and IT department which has swung into action.

According to sources, the Indian Banking Association will also hold a meeting with the chiefs of all Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) banks through video conferencing from its headquarters in Mumbai later today.

For the unversed, Punjab National Bank detected a 1.77 billion dollars scam in which jeweler Nirav Modi acquired fraudulent letters of undertaking from one of its branches for overseas credit from other Indian lenders.

The scam was started in 2011 and was detected in the third week of January this year, after which the PNB officials reported it to the concerned agencies.

Meanwhile, the PNB filed a second complaint with the CBI on February 13.

The CBI had received the complaint from PNB on January 28 and a case was registered in the case on January 31. (ANI)

PNB scam: CVC summons PNB, finance ministry officials

The family of seven people, who suffered critical injuries in the Kamala Mills fire, on Wednesday demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe and sought provisional compensation for their medical treatment.

Prakash Wagh, the advocate of the petitioners, said, &quot;Seven members of the same family were present there at the `1 Above` pub when the fire broke out. They are demanding a CBI probe and action against the guilty.&quot;

&quot;<a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/kamala-mills-fire-mumbai-police-arrests-1above-pub-owners-after-massive-manhunt-29167">They are also demanding a provisional compensation </a>as they are undergoing medical treatment and a lot of money is being spent,&quot; he added.

He said that the probe should not be only conducted against the ones who are arrested but against the firemen and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) as well.The family members, who were severely burnt, said that there was only one exit in the pub and that too only of about two feet breadth which led to a stampede.

&quot;The way the firemen and the BMC ignored the safety norms is very serious,&quot; Wagh stated.

Meanwhile, two owners of the `1 Above` pub, Jigar Sanghavi and Kripesh Sanghavi, were arrested late on Wednesday night in connection with the fire that claimed the lives of 14 people last month.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Virendra Mishra, on Thursday, said the police had laid a good trap and finally caught them.

&quot;Today, around 12 pm, both the accused will be produced before the Bhoiwada Court. Two main accused are still absconding, namely, Yug Tuli and Abhijeet Mankar. Two teams of Mumbai Police are present in Hyderabad to capture Tuli, who was seen at the Hyderabad airport with his wife,&quot; Mishra added.

Acting on a tip-off, the Mumbai police arrested Sanghavi brothers from the city`s Bandra area when they had gone to meet their lawyer.The police had, earlier, announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for the whereabouts of the `1 Above` owners.Jigar and Kripesh were arrested on the information provided by Juhu-based hotelier Vishal Kariya, who was arrested on Wednesday for sheltering the duo and another owner of the pub, Mankar.

The police have recovered a high-end car of accused Mankar, from the Juhu residence of Kariya, 42-years-old, who was then picked up for questioning.During the interrogation, the hotelier revealed that he sheltered the trio at his residence.Kariya had been booked under Section 216 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The Ranchi Special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court on Saturday will pronounce the quantum of sentence against Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad in connection with the fodder scam.

&quot;The quantum of sentence will be announced at 2 pm, today, via video conferencing,&quot; Lalu Prasad&#39;s lawyer Chittaranjan Sinha said on Friday.

The lawyer also added that Lalu Prasad was dealing with a lot of health issues.

&quot;Lalu has diabetes, blood pressure; he almost fainted yesterday,&quot; he said.

Earlier in the week, Prasad&#39;s advocate filed a plea before the court seeking minimum punishment for the party supremo on health grounds.

Prasad, in his plea, had mentioned, &quot;I have no role in this scam directly; consider minimum punishment keeping in view my age and health grounds.&quot;

The RJD chief, along with 14 others, was found guilty by the court, while seven accused, including former Bihar Chief Minister Jagannath Mishra, were acquitted on December 23.

Lalu has been convicted in one of the cases of the fodder scam, wherein Rs. 900 crore from the Bihar exchequer was siphoned off under the pretext of purchasing fodder for livestock, during the &#39;80s and &#39;90s.

Earlier in July, the Himachal Pradesh High Court transferred the two cases to the CBI after the custodial death of Suraj Singh&nbsp;came to light.

Juvenile boy has confessed to Pradyuman's murder: CBI

The Central Bureau of Investigation has raided the Chennai homes of former union minister P Chidambaram and his son Karti Chidambaram. &nbsp;

Reports said the raids are linked to the allegation that a Karti Chidambaram company facilitated investment clearances for INX Media in 2008 for kickbacks.

Chidambaram denied the charges and said that FIPB approval was granted in &quot;hundreds of cases.&quot;

He also accused the government of using investigating agencies to target his son and his friends to &quot;silence&quot; his voice against the government. He said there were no allegations against the five secretaries who constituted the FIPB, and the officials of the FIPB secretariat.

&quot;All I will say is, I shall continue to speak and write,&quot; he said in a statement. &quot;There is no allegation against me,&quot; he added.

&quot;The government, using the CBI and other agencies, is targeting my son and his friends..The government&#39;s aim is to silence my voice and stop me from writing, as it has tried to do in the cases of leaders of opposition parties, journalists, columnists, NGOs and civil society organisations,&quot; the former finance minister said.

The CBI also searched the house of former media baron Peter Mukerjea --&nbsp;who then owned INX Media --&nbsp;in Mumbai as part of investigations over alleged favours granted in foreign investment clearance to the company.

Both Peter and his wife Indrani Mukerjea, founders of INX Media, are accused in the sensational Sheena Bora murder case and are lodged in jail in Mumbai.&nbsp;Some clues on the INX Media deal reportedly emerged from investigations into the Sheena Bora murder case when the financial transactions of the Mukerjeas were scrutinized.

The CBI conducted searches at 17 locations across the country, including New Delhi, Gurgaon, Chennai and Chidambaram&#39;s hometown of Karaikudi, as part of the probe.&nbsp;

Chidambaram raids: CBI also searches Peter Mukerjea's house

India&#39;s Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken into its custody three accused in the case of rape of a woman and her minor girl in northern India&#39;s Bulandshahr city last month. 
 
CBI sources refused to disclose the identity of the accused who were taken into custody by it but said they would be produced in the fast-track court of Bulandshahr on August 23. 
 
North India&#39;s Uttar Pradesh state police had arrested six persons, including the prime suspect, in connection with the rape of the woman and her 13-year-old daughter while they were travelling from Noida to Shahjahanpur on the intervening night of July 29-30. 
 
The case was transferred to CBI on the instructions of the Allahabad High Court. The agency had registered a case yesterday and sent a team of forensic experts and deputy inspector general-ranked officer to the crime scene.

On the basis of his interrogation, two other gang members - Zubair and Sajid - were arrested by the Special Task Force of UP police. Later, three more accused - Naresh (25), Bablu (22) and Rais (28) - were arrested.

India's Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken into its custody three accused in the case of rape of a woman and her minor girl in northern India's Bulandshahr city last month. CBI sources refused to disclose the identity of the accused who were taken into custody by it but said they would be produced in the fast-track court of Bulandshahr on August 23. North India's Uttar Pradesh state police had arrested six persons, including the prime suspect, in connection with the rape of the woman and her 13-year-old daughter while they were travelling from Noida to Shahjahanpur on the intervening night of July 29-30. The case was transferred to CBI on the instructions of the Allahabad High Court. The agency had registered a case yesterday and sent a team of forensic experts and deputy inspector general-ranked officer to the crime scene.
