Multiple shots had been fired at the residence of an associate of the pro-Khalistan figure Nijjar who was killed in Canada’s Surrey, British Columbia, last year.

Since then Khalistani separatist groups in Canada, including Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) had alleged the involvement of the Indian government in the shooting which took place at Simranjeet Singh’s residence on February 1.&nbsp;

Officers responded to a report of shots fired at a residence in the 2800-block of 154 Street, on February 1 at around 1:21 am (local time), said the RCMP.&nbsp;

“At the time of this incident, there was speculation circulating that this was connected to foreign interference. Investigators have not established any links to foreign interference in relation to this matter,” it added.&nbsp;

The RCMP in Canada’s Surrey also said that they have arrested and charged two 16-year-olds in connection with the shooting.&nbsp;

“On February 12, 2024, two 16-year-old males were arrested and the BC Prosecution Service approved charges of Discharging a Firearm into a place and Possessing a Loaded Prohibited Firearm,” said the Canadian police.&nbsp;

<h2>Allegations against&nbsp;Indian government</h2>

The shots were fired at Simranjeet Singh’s home, earlier this month, who is reportedly a close associate of Hardeep Singh Nijjar and helped organise a pro-Khalistani protest outside the Indian consulate in Vancouver on January 26.&nbsp;

A spokesperson for the British Columbia Gurdwaras Council and prominent figure of the pro-Khalistan movement in Canada, Moninder Singh told CBC News how Simranjeet believes the Indian government is involved in the incident.&nbsp;

Simranjeet Singh “feels like this is the Indian state, or their actors, that are playing their part here to kind of scare them off from…the activism work that he’s doing,” Moninder told CBC News.&nbsp;

Canadian police found no ‘foreign interference’ behind attack on home of Nijjar’s associate

A shooting incident was reported from Canada's capital city Ottawa outside a wedding reception venue in which two people were left dead while six others were injured, according to authorities cited by local media on September 3.

The incident reportedly occurred at 10:21 pm, local time, (2:21 am, Sunday GMT)&nbsp;on Saturday, while attendees were celebrating a wedding reception at the Infinity Convention Centre near Ottawa International Airport.

Acting Duty Inspector Amy Bond told CBC News that there were no ongoing threats to safety just hours after the shooting.

The suspect allegedly acted alone. The victims were found in different apartments in the building.

Residents were evacuated immediately and dozens of ambulances and police officers were at the scene in the evening, Canadian media said.

'Horrendous' apartment shooting in Canada leaves five dead

Last week the shooting rampage that took place in Canada’s Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Ontario killed two people including a police officer, while at least three others were injured. Among those injured was a 28-year-old Indian student who has recently succumbed to the injuries sustained during last Monday’s shooting, said the police department.&nbsp;

In a statement released on Saturday, the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) said Satwinder Singh, who was injured in the shooting last Monday in Milton, died at the Hamilton General Hospital surrounded by his family and friends. “Singh was an international student from India who was working part-time at MK Auto Repairs at the time of the shooting,” read the statement.&nbsp;

The HRPS went to express their condolences to the family and friends of the victims and the communities impacted by the “horrible tragedy”. The two others who died during the shooting rampage were Toronto Police Constable Andrew Hong, 48, and Shakeel Ashraf, 38, a mechanic who owned MK Auto Repairs. The gunman later identified as Sean Petrie was later shot dead by the police.&nbsp;

According to local media reports, Singh’s father was surrounded by friends and family when he gave the staff at the Hamilton General Hospital permission to pull his son off life support on September 17. “The father, who had not seen his son since before the pandemic, had just arrived earlier from Dubai, where he works as a truck driver,” said Sarabjot Kaur, a cousin who grew up with Singh to the Toronto Star newspaper.&nbsp;

Singh’s online GoFundMe page said that the former international student had been declared brain dead and was on life support. He was reportedly described as a “loving son, brother and grandson who will be missed daily.”&nbsp;

Singh had finished his MBA in marketing from India and was a student at Conestoga College who was working part-time at the MK Collision Centre in Milton. As of Sunday afternoon, Singh’s GoFundMe page has raised more than 35,000 dollars which would help his family to return his body to India.&nbsp;

Investigators believe the attack was “unprovoked” and the suspect was on the lookout for an officer, the local media reported. The shooting happened on September 12, following the gunman killing a Toronto police Const. Hong, inside a Tim Hortons, after which he went across the street carjacked another victim and continued to Milton where he shot three more people at the MK Auto Repairs.&nbsp;
