"I respect the right to strike and protest, however, actions on the picket line must be lawful and sadly the behaviour of some now means we are seeing a significant impact on residents and the city's environment. Unless we declare a major incident and deploy the waste service's contingency plan, then we would be unable to clear the backlog of waste on the streets," Cotton was quoted by BBC.

Negotiations and talks between the union and the city council have not yielded results with the union announcing on Friday (Apr 3) that the strike would continue.
The matter was also raised in the UK Parliament with Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemning the bin strike as "completely unacceptable". Starmer said he supported the Labour-run city council's decision to declare it a major incident.

Moreover, some Russian political parties, including United Russia will also come under scrutiny.&nbsp;

This comes after continuous warnings over the use of AI tools in creating child sexual abuse imagery, as its cases have more than quadrupled in the space of a year.&nbsp;
According to the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), there were 245 confirmed reports of AI-generated child sexual abuse images last year, up from 51 in 2023.&nbsp;

Senior police figures said that there is now well-established evidence that those who view such images are likely to go on to abuse children in person.

"HMPV is usually detected in the winter periods but it does seem that the rates of serious infection may be higher in China than what we would expect in a normal year," said Dr Catchpole, the Chief Scientific Officer at infectious disease testing firm hVIVO.
"We need more information on the specific strain that is circulating to start to understand if this is the usual circulating strain or if the virus causing high infection rates in China has some differences," he added.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, multiple experts urged people not to panic as the majority of infections cause "mild, cold-like symptoms".&nbsp;
However, Jaya Dantas, a professor of international health at Curtin University in Australia warned, "In young children, the elderly, and those who are immune compromised, hMPV can lead to severe cases and can move to the lower respiratory tract and may lead to pneumonia."

The Sharia court has approved this application, which gives daughters half of the amount of inheritance that is given to the sons.&nbsp;

There are 85 operational Sharia courts or councils in Britain. The first such court was first established in the country in 1982.

Across Europe and North America, a lot of Muslims are seen to be going to these Sharia courts in Britain that work like informal organisations and issue religious rulings on family life and marriage, reported The Times.

As per the report, around 100,000 Islamic marriages have been conducted in the country that are not registered officially with the civil authorities.

Theologian and Professor Mona Siddiqui, in an official review, said that Sharia was defined as jurisprudence on the basis of the opinions expressed by jurists in the classical period of Islam, which is from the 7th century till the 13th century.

Most Muslim countries have modified various aspects of Sharia, however, in the case of marriage and divorce, they have generally observed the classical rulings.&nbsp;

<h2>Experts and women raise concerns over Sharia courts</h2>

The National Secular Society expressed their concern over the existence of such parallel legal systems in Britain.

Society's chief executive Stephen Evans issued a warning that such councils "undermine the principle of one law for all" and the rights of women and children are negatively impacted.&nbsp;

"It should be remembered that Sharia councils only exist because Muslim women need them to obtain a religious divorce. Muslim men do not need them because they can unilaterally divorce their wife," Evans said.

When Cooper was asked about her message to China on BBC One's Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, she said, "Well, we will continue to take a very strong approach to our national security; that includes any challenge to our national security, including to our economic security from China and from other countries around the world. That will always be the approach that we will take. Of course, with China, we also need to make sure we have that economic interaction and economic cooperation in place as well. So it’s a complex arrangement.”

Earlier on Friday, the Duke of York said that he had "ceased all contact" with the businessman when concerns were first raised about him.&nbsp;

Andrew met the individual through "official channels”, with “nothing of a sensitive nature ever discussed”, a statement from the prince's office read.&nbsp;

The businessman, who is known only as H6, brought his case to the special immigration appeals commission (Siac), which upheld a ruling that he should be excluded from the UK.

Meanwhile, shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp said that the instances of Chinese interferences that have been proven should be publicly exposed in order to keep the public and government vigilant.&nbsp;

“This question of Chinese influence is not a new one. It’s been around for years, or even decades,” he told the BBC.&nbsp;

“They’ve been systematically trying to infiltrate universities, to steal intellectual property businesses for the same reason, and also influence government institutions. We need to be super-vigilant and publicly expose Chinese infiltration where it happens. Everybody in academia, business, and government needs to be alert. If anyone has the slightest concern, they should contact the security services immediately," he added.&nbsp;

“The Russian FSB has identified signs of intelligence and subversive work by the said diplomat that threatens the security of the Russian Federation,” TASS cited the security service as saying.&nbsp;

Following this, the Russian foreign ministry revoked the British diplomat's diplomatic accreditation and ordered him to leave the country within two weeks.&nbsp;

“This is not the first time that Russia has made malicious and baseless accusations against our staff. We will respond in due course," a British Foreign Office spokesperson said in a statement.&nbsp;
