On Thursday (Apr 25), NASA and Boeing gave the go-ahead for a launch attempt within the next two weeks. But officials are stressing flexibility.&nbsp;

A whistleblower on Wednesday (Apr 17) addressed safety concerns regarding Boeing at a US Senate hearing as he said that hundreds of people could lose their lives if the company fails to address quality issues. Sam Salehpour, who is an engineer at the planemaker, even raised concerns over his safety for speaking up.

A few days ago, Salehpour reported safety issues over the manufacturing of some of the Boeing planes and accused the company of taking shortcuts in the construction of its 787 and 777 jets. He had previously claimed he was "threatened with termination" after raising concerns with bosses.&nbsp;

Salehpour, who worked at Boeing for more than 10 years, said in an interview broadcast Tuesday night that the 787 Dreamliner should be grounded immediately because of the risk it could "fall apart" mid-air, he told NBC.&nbsp;

The whistleblower claimed that he had identified an issue with gaps between key sections of the 787 Dreamliner. According to him, the issue affected "more than 1,000" jets in service. He also warned that the issue would "likely cause premature fatigue failure over time in two major airplane joints".&nbsp;

Salehpour in his testimony wrote that he contacted Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut "because I genuinely believe that the safety problems I have observed at Boeing, if not addressed, could result in a catastrophic failure of a commercial airplane that would lead to the loss of hundreds of lives".&nbsp;

"I am determined to avoid such a result, regardless of the cost to my career," he added.&nbsp;

In yet another Boeing mishap incident, a Southwest Airlines flight bound for Houston had to undergo an emergency landing at Denver International Airport after its engine cover appeared to have ripped off during takeoff on Sunday (Apr 7), media reports said citing authorities.

This came to light after a passenger on flight 3695 sent a video to a US media portal. The video purportedly showed the engine's cover tearing off. As the plane was about to take off, the cover was striking the aircraft's wing flap as it lifted off the ground.

ABC News quoting one of the passengers who were aboard the plane described the experience as "frightening."&nbsp;

The passenger reportedly said, "People in the exit row across from me started yelling at the flight attendants and showing them the damage. We turned around and made a full-speed landing. The pilots did a great job on the landing."&nbsp;

Airline regulators in the United States have started investigating another mishap involving a Boeing jet after an engine cowling in one of its jets fell off during take-off and hit a wing flap.

After the mishap, Southwest Airlines' Boeing 737-800 flight, which was flying to Houston,&nbsp;flew back safely to Denver International airport at around 15:15 GMT.&nbsp;

There were 135 passengers and six crew members in the aircraft and the flight was at about 10,300 feet (3,140m). The mishap took place amid increasing safety concerns with Boeing jets.

Southwest Airlines said it will be reviewing the Boeing 737-800 following the incident. The airline&nbsp;said that it was responsible for the maintenance of such parts. All the passengers were shifted to another jet and arrived in Houston approximately after a delay of four hours.

In a never-thought-of nightmarish situation, an Alaska Airlines flight - from Honolulu to Anchorage - was forced to turn back after its bathroom sink malfunctioned and flooded the cabin of the Boeing 737 Max 9 jet with four inches of water.

According to the flight tracking website FlightAware, Alaska Airlines Flight 828 took off from Honolulu's Daniel K. Inouye International Airport at 10:16 pm on March 29.

The plane was headed to Anchorage when "an issue with water from the lavatory sink shortly after takeoff" occurred, said the airline, in a statement to PEOPLE.

Passenger Dustin Parker recorded the on-flight video footage in which the flight attendants were seen using paper towels to try and&nbsp;soak the water which had filled in the entire centre aisle.

"I would say an hour and a half into the flight is when we noticed the water and it was significant. The entire floorboards of that airplane [were] completely wet," he added.&nbsp;
