A case was lodged on Sunday over a clash between police and followers of Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das on the court premises in Chittagong, according to a media report.

The Dhaka Tribune newspaper said the case names the Hindu leader, arrested on a charge of sedition, as the prime accused, along with 164 identified individuals and 400 to 500 unidentified people.

The complaint was filed by Enamul Haque, a businessman and activist of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh, in the court of Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Md Abu Bakar Siddique.

Haque in his complaint alleged that he was attacked by followers of Chinmoy Krishna Das while returning home after completing land registry work at the court on November 26.

The businessman claimed that he was targeted for wearing a ‘panjabi’, a kurta, and a cap, which resulted in injuries to his right hand and head.

“Haque was assaulted on November 26 on the court premises by followers of Chinmoy Krishna. His right hand was fractured, and he sustained head injuries. The case names 164 individuals, with Chinmoy Krishna as the principal accused,” his lawyer is quoted as saying.

The incident follows several clashes linked to the imprisonment of Chinmoy Krishna, spokesperson of the Bangladesh Sommilito Sanatani Jagaran Jote.

Previously, on November 27, police filed three related cases at Kotwali police station, naming numerous individuals and hundreds of unidentified persons for obstruction and attacks on law enforcement.

Separately, another case was filed by a businessman on Tuesday, alleging assault by a group near Rangam Cinema Hall on November 26.

The complaint named 29 individuals, including members of political organisations and ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness), alongside 40 to 50 unidentified persons, the report said.

The relations between India and Bangladesh came under strain after the interim government headed by Muhammad Yunus came to power after deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina fled the country on August 5 following a student-led protest.

The relations deteriorated further in recent weeks over continued attacks on Hindus and especially after the arrest of the Hindu monk, a former member of ISKCON Bangladesh.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri will make a visit to Bangladesh on December 9 and meet his counterpart there, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Friday.

Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) reported that a two-member tribunal led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder passed the order and directed the authorities to remove all the “hate speeches” of Hasina from social media and take necessary steps to stop their dissemination in future in all types of mass media.

Prosecutor Advocate Abdullah Al Noman told the news agency that the tribunal asked secretaries of the ICT Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) to execute the order.

The prosecution earlier filed the petition, pleading to remove and restrict all types of hate speech and incitement by the ousted prime minister, which may intimidate the witnesses or victims or hamper the investigation.

Chinmoy was detained by Bangladesh police on November 25 on stringent sedition charges, backed by claims that he disrespected the Bangladeshi flag while demanding safety for Hindus. The 84-year-old Nobel laureate added that comprehensive reforms need to be introduced by Bangladesh in economy, governance, bureaucracy, and judiciary before conducting elections. Yunus further said that he will appeal to India to extradite Hasina after her trial in the International Crimes Tribunal in Bangladesh comes to an end. He added that, as per an international law signed by both countries, "India would be obligated to comply." The chief adviser further said that the concern raised by the Indian government regarding the safety of Hindus is not fact-based. The relations between the two nations have been strained since Sheikh Hasina was ousted as the prime minister in August and took shelter in India, after which New Delhi raised concerns regarding the welfare of minorities in its neighbouring country. "Under her rule, democratic principles were entirely disregarded. Bangladesh summoned Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma to the foreign affairs ministry office in Dhaka on Tuesday (Dec 3). The move came a day after protesters took to the streets in Dhaka over the alleged vandalism&nbsp;at the Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh in Agartala, Tripura.

Citing security concerns, Bangladesh also suspended all consular services at its mission until further notice.&nbsp;

A Bangladesh foreign ministry official, regarding the summoning of the Indian diplomat, said, “Verma came as he was asked to come when we conveyed him our concerns.”&nbsp;

Earlier, Foreign affairs adviser Mohammad Touhid Hossain said that Verma was asked to visit the foreign office after the Agartala incident took place.

The Indian envoy, however, expressed Delhi's desire to build a "constant, stable, and constructive relationship" with Bangladesh emphasising that there should be no single issue that hinders the bilateral ties.

“We are willing to engage with the interim government of Bangladesh,” he told reporters emerging from the meeting with acting foreign secretary Riaz Hamidullah.

<h2>Police officers suspended and 7 people arrested</h2>

Four police officers faced action, whereas seven people were arrested over the breach of premises of the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, said the police on Tuesday (Dec. 3).

Three sub-inspectors were suspended, and a deputy superintendent of police was 'closed' and asked to report to the police headquarters over alleged negligence while performing duty, said SP of West Tripura Kiran Kumar K as per news agency PTI.

"A suo moto case was registered at the New Capital Complex (NCC) police station over the incident. Seven persons have been arrested so far for their alleged involvement in the incident," he said.

Police launched a probe into the incident and said that the required steps would be taken as per the law, Kumar added.

After the incident, security was beefed up around the Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi, according to officials.

"The security has been increased, and extra police personnel have been deployed all around the commission. We are also ensuring no gathering takes place around its premises," a senior police officer said.

This comes after thousands of people took out a massive rally around the Bangladesh mission in Agartala on Monday (Dec. 2), protesting the arrest of Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das in Bangladesh as well as attacks on minorities in that country.

More than 50 protesters entered the premises of the mission, triggering concerns among those present at the complex.&nbsp;

Chinmoy Krishna Das, a spokesperson of the Bangladesh Sanatan Jagaran Mancha, was arrested on November 25 on charges of sedition.&nbsp;

Das was charged for allegedly hoisting a saffron flag above Bangladesh's national flag in Chittagong on October 25. Two days after his arrest, a lawyer was killed during clashes between police and alleged followers of the guru in the Chattogram Court Building.&nbsp;
