<p>Nearly 5,000 people are affected in the Nagaon district while over 3,600 residents suffer in Dhemaji.&nbsp;ASDMA's revealed that the floods have also impacted people in Baksa, Barpeta, Darrang, Karimganj, Goalpara and Nalbari districts.</p>

<p>The situation has gotten worse from the last few days when earlier only nearly 6,000 people across four districts were reported to be affected.</p>

<p>He added, “I recovered around 35 snakes crawling from a newly constructed toilet of the house. Later, I released the snakes&nbsp;in the Joisagar Dalani area.”</p>

<p>According to a report by India Today NE, Deka said there was little cause for alarm after he identified the hatchlings. He noted that the snake had laid eggs in the bathroom which had hatched.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He said, “These products are deeply rooted in our history and nearly one lakh people are directly supported by these products.”</p>

<p>The GI tag system began in India in 2003 during the NDA's rule. It helps recognise products from specific places, showcasing their special qualities, and serves as a trademark in the international market.</p>

<p>Earlier this month, the renowned Majuli Masks or Majuli manuscript paintings from Assam received the GI tag. This tradition is rooted in Assam's neo-Vaishnavite practices dating back to the 16th century, as per experts.</p>

<p>He added that they were later brought to the STF office in Guwahati and that several cases are pending against them at the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Delhi, Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and Lucknow among other places.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"STF, Assam, will hand over the accused to NIA for taking up further legal actions against these fugitives," the police official said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Providing information on&nbsp;the removal of the Assam Muslim Marriage &amp; Divorce Registration Act 1935, the state Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote on X,&nbsp;"On 23.22024, the Assam cabinet made a significant decision to repeal the age-old Assam Muslim Marriages &amp; Divorces Registration Act."</p>

<p>He said that this act "contained provisions allowing marriage registration even if the bride and groom had not reached the legal ages of 18 and 21, as required by law."</p>

<p>Mallabarua said, "The CM had recently stated that we are moving towards Uniform Civil Code (UCC). In this journey, a very important decision has been taken. The Assam Muslim Marriage &amp; Divorce Registration Act 1935, under which 94 Muslim registrars are still functioning, has been repealed today."</p>

<p>Trinamool Congress leader Derek O'Brien on Friday (Feb 23) stated that there has been "no change" in the party's stance of running for all 42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal, a few in Assam, and one in Meghalaya.</p>

<p>"A few weeks ago, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee stated that TMC is fighting all the 42 seats in Bengal. We are also in the fray in a few seats in Assam and the Tura Lok Sabha seat in Meghalaya. There is no change in this position," he said, hinting at the party's unwillingness to ally with its INDIA bloc partner Congress.</p>

<p>This came amid rumours that the Congress is close to finalizing its seat-sharing arrangements with the party.</p>

<p>The Congress and the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC, which are also a part of the opposition bloc INDIA, reportedly reopened negotiations to challenge the BJP-led NDA together in the Lok Sabha elections that are scheduled to take place in April-May 2024.</p>

<p>Congress MP, reacting to Derek's comments which hinted toward a no-alliance, said that the discussions with the party were underway and that despite heated discussions, Congress respects Mamata Banerjee.</p>

<p>“Discussions are underway. Our doors are always open for TMC. Mamata Banerjee and TMC have said that they want to strengthen the INDIA Alliance and the biggest motive is to defeat the BJP,” Ramesh told news agency ANI.</p>

<p>“Heated discussions keep taking place between the two parties but we respect Mamata Banerjee,” he added.</p>

<p>The Congress has finalized its seat-sharing agreements with the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh and the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi, following some initial snags.</p>

<p>“The important thing is that an official announcement has been made for the alliance(in UP)...It took time to give it a final form...Today, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress are also making an official announcement about the alliance. It was being said again and again that Congress is lazy and not interested but I always said that it takes time,” Ramesh said.</p>
