<p>Earlier, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal broke into tears in the Delhi court after Arvind Kejriwal's aide Bibhav Kumar's lawyer claimed that she intentionally chose the spot at CM's official residence as there was no CCTV there which could record as to what exactly had happened.</p>

<p>Further raising concerns about her safety in the court, she stated that granting bail relief to Kumar would put her and her family's lives in danger.</p>

<p>The Tis Hazari Court in the national capital was hearing a bail plea filed by Kumar who at present is in judicial custody after Maliwal accused him of assaulting her at the CM's residence earlier this month.</p>

<p>He was arrested on May 18 in connection with the case.</p>

<p>The defence counsel questioned the Delhi Police's probe into the matter and alleged that it is Maliwal who should be investigated for going to the CM's residence without an appointment and trespassing on the premises.</p>

For tampering of evidence?; and how a woman who always stood for the right issues, even went to Manipur alone without security could be bought over by the BJP?"</p>

<p>“The manner in which the entire party machinery and its supporters have attempted to vilify and shame me speaks volumes about their stand on women’s issues. I am reporting these rape and death threats to @DelhiPolice. I hope they take strong action against the perpetrators,” she further said.</p>

<p>She further alleged that in the coming days, if anything happens to her, the world would know who instigated it.</p>

<p>As per the PTI news agency, the ECI said it has decided to further expand the format of turnout data to include the absolute number of voters in every parliamentary constituency.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The absolute numbers are discernable parliamentary constituency-wise by all citizens by applying the turnout percentage to total electors, both already made available in the public domain, said the poll panel.</p>

<p>Here electors are those who are part of the electoral roll and eligible to voters and 'voters' refers to those that have actually cast their vote in an election.&nbsp;</p>

<p>While the EC had been issuing turnout percentage, there had been demands to make public the actual number of voters in every phase.</p>

<p>Previously, the Election Commission, hitting out at the plea of the petitioner, had said there are "certain elements with vested interests" who keep throwing baseless and false allegations, "creating an unwarranted atmosphere of suspicion" to discredit the Election Commission of India.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"It is most humbly submitted that there is a consistent malafide campaign/design/efforts to keep on raising suspicion and doubt in every possible manner and by misleading assertions and baseless," it added.</p>

<p>During an interview with news agency PTI, Kejriwal said that the ongoing case is "sub-judice" and commenting on it could affect the proceedings. &nbsp;</p>

AAP MP assault case: Swati Maliwal says ‘irony died thousand deaths’ as CM Kejriwal calls for fair probe

<p>Delhi's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government on Wednesday (May 22) accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government of neighbouring Haryana state of stopping the water flow of the Yamuna River.</p>

<p>Delhi water minister Atishi said&nbsp;in a press conference&nbsp;that BJP was hatching a 'water conspiracy.'</p>

<p>"They (BJP) want to create a water crisis in the capital. I want to warn the people of Delhi that in the coming days till May 25, more such things will happen. They will do this to manipulate voters. I want to tell BJP that you cannot fool the people of Delhi," the AAP minister said.</p>

<p>She also wrote a letter to Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, demanding&nbsp;his immediate intervention into the matter.</p>

Delhi water crisis: AAP’s Atishi accuses BJP of stopping Yamuna flow, hatching ‘water conspiracy’

<p>Spelling more trouble for the Aam Aadmi Party, the Enforcement Directorate filed an official dossier with the Union Home Ministry (MHA) where it alleged that AAP received over Rs 7 crore as foreign funding, in violation&nbsp;of the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA).</p>

<p>The ED shared the inputs with MHA after it retrieved several emails and documents from the time when a money laundering probe related to drugs was launched against former Punjab AAP MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira along with other political figures.</p>

<p>Notably, the investigation was initiated in 2021 and Khaira was arrested in the case by ED that year. He left AAP and is at present with the Congress party.</p>

<p>The federal probe agency, as per news agency PTI reports, found out that till now AAP has received about Rs 7.08 crore as overseas donations.</p>

<p>The ED also alleged that the party has "mis-declared and manipulated" details like the identities and nationalities of the foreign donors.</p>

<h2><strong>AAP refutes allegations</strong></h2>

<p>AAP on Monday (May 20) rebuffed the allegations calling it "a new conspiracy by the BJP" to tarnish the image of Kejriwal government amid the ongoing Lok Sabha polls.</p>

<p>While addressing a media briefing on Monday senior AAP leader Atishi claimed that BJP failed to frame her party leaders in the liquor scam and the Swati Maliwal sexual harassment case, so it has come up with this new issue.</p>

<p>"These are baseless allegations. It is an old case where it has already been proved that no illegal donation has been taken. As the elections are nearing (in Delhi and Punjab), the BJP has hatched a new conspiracy to frame the Aam Aadmi Party," she alleged.</p>

<p>The Delhi Police has said that the footage of the May 13 assault on Aam Aadmi Party&nbsp;(AAP) leader Swati Maliwal might have been tampered with by the prime accused Bibhav Kumar to destroy evidence. Citing a remand note from the police, a report by NDTV on Sunday (May 19) said that police officials pointed out that a portion of the footage from the CCTV cameras at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence (when&nbsp;the assault happened) was blank.</p>

<p>As per the NDTV report, police officials said that they did not receive the Digital Video Recorder (DVR) so that they could scan the assault footage as part of the investigation. CCTV cameras at Delhi CM's residence are under the purview of the Public Works Department (PWD).</p>

<p>Swati Maliwal, a member of the upper house of the Indian Parliament, is currently at the centre of the country's biggest political controversy, involving her Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.</p>

<p>The Medico-legal Case report&nbsp;in the matter said that Maliwal has&nbsp;bruises on&nbsp;her left leg and her right cheek. The report was filed following an examination of the AAP woman MP&nbsp;at the Jai Prakash Narayan Apex Trauma Centre at AIIMS Delhi.</p>

<p>The report said that Maliwal&nbsp;had a bruise of the size of 3x2 centimetre over the "proximal left leg dorsal aspect" and another bruise of the size of 2x2 centimetre over her "right cheek below her right eye."</p>

<h2><strong>'Will cooperate in probe'</strong></h2>

<p>Following Kumar's arrest, his lawyer Karan Sharma told ANI,&nbsp;"We've not received any information from the police yet." Kumar added, "We've sent them an e-mail that we will cooperate in the investigation."</p>

<p>The Delhi government had implemented the policy on November 17, 2021.</p>

<p>Corruption allegations were levelled against AAP which the party has strongly denied.</p>

<p>The investigating agencies have said that the profit margins of wholesalers were increased from 5 per cent to 12 per cent under the new policy.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I felt&nbsp;absolutely&nbsp;shocked and was screaming for help&nbsp;over and over again.&nbsp;In order to&nbsp;protect myself, I pushed&nbsp;him&nbsp;away with my legs. At that time, he pounced on me, brutally dragged and deliberately pulled my shirt up. Bibhav Kumar did not relent and attacked me by kicking me in my chest, stomach and pelvis area with his legs," Maliwal said, as per the FIR.</p>

<p>As per the complaint, Maliwal said that she somehow ran out of the house and dialled the police.</p>

<p>"I was in a terrible state of shock at this attack. I was deeply traumatised and called the 112 number and reported the incident," said Maliwal, in the FIR.</p>

<p>She added that the security personnel did not assist her and instead threw her out following Kumar's instruction.</p>

<p>"Bibhav came back with the security personnel working at the main gate. I kept telling them that I&nbsp;was brutally beaten up&nbsp;and they should look at my condition and wait until the police came but they asked me to leave the premises," Maliwal said in her statement to the police.</p>

<p>Maliwal was earlier escorted by the Delhi Police to the AIIMS Trauma Centre for a medical checkup.</p>

<p>The FIR has been registered by the Delhi Police against Kumar under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, which includes assault or criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty, criminal intimidation and insulting modesty.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After visiting the police, Maliwal appealed on social media that her matter should not be politicised.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"What happened to me was very bad. I have given my statement to the police on the incident that happened to me. I hope that&nbsp;appropriate action will be taken. The last few days have been&nbsp;very difficult&nbsp;for me. <p>On Tuesday, senior AAP leader and MP Sanjay Singh had confirmed that&nbsp;Kejriwal's&nbsp; personal secretary, Bibhav Kumar, had&nbsp;“misbehaved”&nbsp;with Maliwal. Singh also assured that Kejriwal would take strict action against the accused.</p>

<p>However, the&nbsp;BJP&nbsp;stepped up attacks on&nbsp;AAP over what it said was a delay in action.</p>

<p>Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath hit out at his Delhi counterpart, Arvind Kejriwal over his "retirement at 75 years of age" remark referring to Prime Minister Modi stating that the opposition was making all sorts of futile attempts out of desperation to win the general elections.</p>

<p>CM Yogi took to his social media account X and wrote, "The entire propaganda of the opposition has failed in the face of the immense public support that the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi ji is receiving from East to West and North to South. <p>Rebuffing Kejriwal's claims that PM Modi was making way for Amit Shah to take over the leadership of the country after he retires, the Union Home Minister stated that there were no such provisions mentioned in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP's) constitution.</p>

<p>He further exuded confidence asserting that Modi will become the Prime Minister of the country for the third time.</p>

<p>"The people of this country, be it from the East, West, North, South or Northeast, are standing with Modi. All the leaders of the INDI alliance know that we are going to cross 400 seats and Modi ji will become the PM of this country for the third time. That is why they are spreading this type of misconception," Shah said.</p>

<p>The AAP leader also claimed that no other party in the country was allegedly "harassed to this extent in the 75 years" the way his party was.</p>

<p>He then took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi stating that all the "thieves" were present in his party and aimed to fight corruption.</p>

<p>The Delhi CM&nbsp;also cautioned that if the BJP-led NDA comes to power after the general elections, other opposition leaders like Mamata Banerjee, and MK Stalin would also be sent to jail.</p>
