Who is Swati Maliwal, Indian MP who was allegedly assaulted at Delhi CM's residence?

Swati Maliwal, a member of the upper house of the Indian Parliament, is currently at the centre of the country's biggest political controversy, involving her Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Earlier this week, the Rajya Sabha MP accused the personal secretary of Kejriwal of harassing and assaultingher inside the CM's official residence.
In an FIR registered against Bibhav Kumar, the MP said she was hit by him on the stomach, slapped and kicked. Meanwhile, the AAP has dismissed all allegations by Maliwal and instead accused Maliwal of trying to threaten the staff at the CM's place.
"I entered the drawing room and was waiting there. Bibhav arrived and began to verbally abuse me. Without any provocation, he repeatedly slapped me... I yelled, pleading for him to stop and let me go, but he persisted in assaulting me while hurling insults in Hindi," the AAP MP said in the statement recorded by the Delhi Police's Special Cell.
Who is Swati Maliwal?
Maliwal first emerged in the 2011 mass movement against corruption led by social activist Anna Hazare. Born on October 15, 1984, today she is a well-known Indian politician and social activist.

She also became part of Delhi's AAP government administration, serving as the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chairperson from 2015 to 2024.

Maliwal, originally from UP's Ghaziabad, did her schoolingfromAmity International School and a bachelor's degree in Information Technology from the JSS Academy of Technical Education.
In 2012, Maliwal got married to Naveen Jaihind, another politician of AAP. However, the couple divorced in February 2020.
Maliwal later joined an NGO founded by Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, the former deputy of Kejriwal now languishing in jail in the Delhi excise policy case.
By being part of the NGO, called Parivartan (or Change), she actively participated in campaigns across the nation.
In 2015, she became one of the youngest leaders to chair the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW).
Under her watch, several important legislations were passed, including the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.
