Swati Maliwal assault case: Delhi court denies bail to Arvind Kejriwal’s aide Bibhav Kumar

On Saturday, Delhi's Tis Hazari Court denied Arvind Kejriwal's aide Bibhav Kumar's anticipatory bail plea in the ongoing Swati Maliwal assault case. Kumar was arrested on earlier on Saturday by police in Delhi at the Chief Minister's house.

This comes after Kumar filed a complaint against Maliwal with the Delhi police on Friday via email to the Station House Officer (SHO) of Civil Lines, accusing Swati Maliwal of physical assault following a video allegedly showing Maliwal threatening Kumar.

Earlier, a team of police arrived at Chief Minister Kejriwal's residence.Maliwal, the former chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW),alleged that she was"slapped, hit on the stomach, and kicked" by Kumar at Kejriwal's residence on May 13. She demanded strict action in the case.

In the first information report (FIR), Maliwal said that she reached the CM's residence and tried to contact hisaide,but did not receive any response.She said she had informed the staff about her presence andwas askedto wait. Maliwal further claimed that Bibhav Kumar suddenly ran into the room and began verbally abusing her.

The AAP leader then said thatKumar slapped her multiple times on the face and also kickedher on the chest, stomach, and sensitive parts.

The FIR was filed underIPC Sections 308 (Attempt to commit culpable homicide)/341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint)/354B Assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe /(506 Punishment for criminal intimidation/509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman).

Maliwal has bruises onleft leg, right cheek: MLC report

The Medico-legal Case reportin the matter said that Maliwal hasbruises onher left leg and her right cheek. The report was filed following an examination of the AAP woman MPat the Jai Prakash Narayan Apex Trauma Centre at AIIMS Delhi.

The report said that Maliwalhad a bruise of the size of 3x2 centimetre over the "proximal left leg dorsal aspect" and another bruise of the size of 2x2 centimetre over her "right cheek below her right eye."

'Will cooperate in probe'

Following Kumar's arrest, his lawyer Karan Sharma told ANI,"We've not received any information from the police yet." Kumar added, "We've sent them an e-mail that we will cooperate in the investigation."
