Putin said that he understood India’s position as well as concerns regarding the Ukraine war and added that Russia “wants all of this to end as soon as possible."

Putin earlier said that Russia was ready to provide more than 300,000 tonnes of Russian fertilisers stuck in European ports to the developing world for free. He added that India has been a major importer of fertilisers from Russia and hoped that it has been a help for the&nbsp;agricultural sector.

"Our trade is growing, thanks to your additional supplies of Russian fertilisers to the Indian markets, which have grown more than eight-fold. I am hopeful that this is going to be of huge help of the agricultural sector of India," he said.

Gone is the Sweden for long regarded as a moral superpower, a model of the “Third Way” and neutral between East-West blocs but firmly on the side of democracy, tolerance and inclusiveness.

In fact, that Sweden of yore, identified with the Third World and known for thought leaders with their development focus on developing countries, has been vanishing gradually in the last two decades. The historic defeat of the Social Democrats, who presided over the Swedish state for decades after World War II, in the 1991 election, marked the rise of the Conservatives.

Conservative leaders, like Carl Bildt of the Moderate Party, who had long terms in government, did not deviate very much from the path of social democracy. Although the conservatives, or the centre-right (as they could be called then), were a force during their stints in government, the Social Democrat-led centre-left remained a powerful pole of politics till 2014.

In the years since then, Sweden, like other parts of Europe, has seen the rise of a new aggressive right, which has been openly anti-immigrant and grown on the support of white supremacist fringe groups and racist elements. Paradoxically, in Scandinavia, the new right flaunts the word “Democrats” in its nomenclature even while its politics are the anti-thesis of democracy as known to Europe during the decades it saw all-round peace and development.

Given that history, Sweden’s sharp swing to the right in the just-concluded elections is a watershed moment.

The Moderates led by Ulf Kristersson, along with Sweden Democrats, Christian Democrats and Liberals have wrested a narrow but convincing victory, winning 176 of the 346-seat parliament against the Social Democrat-led centre-left’s 173 seats.

The emergence of the anti-immigrant Sweden Democrats has stoked fears of Sweden’s celebrated model of tolerance and inclusive politics coming apart amidst new uncertainties, economic concerns, social insecurity and political polarisation.

Kristerssson’s government is bound to be severely tested in a Sweden that of late has witnessed recurrent violence involving criminal gangs as well as immigrant groups. Sweden’s generous immigration policies, which were tightened in recent years including to overcome flaws in implementation, may become more restrictive to meet the expectations of those who voted for a “New Sweden”, which also wants to militarise itself as a member of NATO.

Mahindra &amp; Mahindra, Tech Mahindra, Ultratech Cement, TCS, Infosys, Wipro were major losers during the afternoon trade. 
 
Nifty IT and BSE IT index were down 2.91 per cent and 2.69 per cent respectively. Nifty PSU Bank index was down 2.79 per cent and BSE Auto was down 3.25 per cent. 
 
"Indian equity markets are witnessing some selling pressure after a long period of resilience. Global cues continuously remain weak as there is a sharp surge in the dollar index and US bond yields post US inflation numbers. We may continue to outperform, but we can`t remain in isolation for a long time. Global markets are looking nervous ahead of the FOMC meeting because there is talk of a 100 basis rate hike while a 75 basis rate hike was already discounted," said Santosh Meena, Head of Research, Swastika Investmart Ltd. 
 
Asian markets remained weak&nbsp;on Friday due to growing fears of a global recession after the warnings by the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. 
 
MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan was down 0.3 per cent. Australian shares were down 0.94 per cent on Friday, while Japan`s Nikkei stock index slipped 1.2 per cent. 
 
The world may edge toward a global recession in 2023 as central banks across the world simultaneously hike interest rates to combat persistent inflation, the World Bank said. 
 
The economies of the US, China, and the eurozone, were slowing and a slight hit to the global economy further would lead to recession. 
 
"Technically, Nifty is facing resistance at the 18,100 level and it has slipped below its 20-DMA of 17,700 which may lead to some more selling pressure where 17,470-17,400 is an immediate demand zone then 17,150 is a sacrosanct support level. Bank Nifty is outperforming but yesterday it ended at a day's low after hitting a fresh all-time high, which is a little disappointing. On the downside, 40,900-40,700 is an immediate demand zone; below this, 40,270 is the next important support level," Meena added.&nbsp;

The activity was carried out at sites in the Palk Bay area, which is a shallow water region between the southern Coast of India (Tamil Nadu's Ramanathapuram district) and the neighbouring island nation, Sri Lanka.

Teams comprising of three Coast Guard divers and other divers from a private organization carried out nine hours of diving and clean-up activities, which led to recovery of multiple ghost nets. Ghost nets are basically abandoned or discarded fishing nets that are drifting in the ocean or are left entangled in rocky areas.

“We are focussing on people-centric development model. We are supporting innovation in every sector. Today there are more than 70,000 start-ups and over 100 unicorns in our country.”

According to the firms that have united for this venture, they intend to solve a legacy challenge for consumers of remote sensing data. Furthermore, the plan to curtail the adversaries is an assertive idea, but at the same time, the uncertainties should be kept in mind while dreaming of a new world of unified educated Indians.

The basic challenges are as follows:&nbsp;

School dropouts: Generally, the 2020-21 report by the Unified District Information System for Education, showed the annual dropout rate of secondary school students was 14.6 per cent. On the other hand, at the primary level, the dropout rate was&nbsp;0.8 per cent. So, overall, this is a&nbsp;commendable effort made by the government.

&nbsp;But at the same time, the rate also stated in the report a depressive thought of not attending school. As per an economic survey, the pandemic has also hit schools in rural and urban areas, which has resulted in high dropout rates in the schools. The dropout rate has increased due to the massive digital divide. The enrolment dropped from 135 million in 2012-13 to 122 million&nbsp;in 2019-20 at the primary level because of a lower enrolment of children in the 6-10 age group. This is one of the challenges that are present in front of the government.

Pandemic:&nbsp;Believe it or not, the fear of a pandemic is still not over. No matter how many booster doses and vaccines are administered, there is still hope of living a balanced life. But still, the latest statistics haven't shown a good picture of the world. A kind of uncertainty is still looming over the minds of many people, and that has become a hindrance to proving themselves as physically secure people. Indeed, they’ve resumed their work, but again, it seems a momentary development that is questioning the relevance of education while fighting the odds.

According to the latest Union Health Ministry report, India’s active caseload of COVID-19 cases stands at 101K. The active cases comprise 0.23 per cent of the total infections, while the national recovery rate stands at 98.58 per cent. India so far has reported 13,272 new cases and 36 deaths in the last 24 hours. Therefore, it shows that the pandemic has created havoc in terms of human extinction.

Epidemic:&nbsp;The sudden outbreak of the epidemic of MonkeyPox has again questioned the community population. Already, the coronavirus caused havoc in society, calling into question the relevance of the current global system, which includes education. Furthermore, the question of living on Earth has suddenly become a farce, as it only instills a sense of insecurity and uncertainty.No matter whether a person is heading to school or at a workplace, a mental imbalance has been created which is only questionable.

Health &amp; Hygiene:&nbsp;According to UNICEF India, nearly 22 per cent&nbsp;of Indian schools lacked appropriate toilets for girls, and 58 per cent of preschools lacked all toilets. Nearly 56 per cent of preschools had no water available on the premises. Even though the benchmark achievement through Swachch Vidyalaya Puraskar is commendable in some places, efforts should be proactively diverted towards this issue within the stipulated time.

Minority Development:&nbsp;&nbsp;A slight focus should also be given to the development of children from the minority section of society.&nbsp;According to the Sachar Committee Report, one-fourth of the Muslim children in the age group of 6–14 years of age are either dropouts or matriculated. For the children above the age of 17, the educational qualification of Muslims at matriculation is 17 per cent as against the national average of 26 per cent.

In conclusion, it can be said that the entire education system of India is progressive and high-spirited, which allows every individual to establish themselves as literate citizen of society. Indeed, the elephant-sized challenges are only testing the tolerance, patience, and capabilities of defining their overall governance in India. However, the key to establishing itself as a fully capable government is by accepting the testing times of challenges fearlessly and getting confirmed seats for the coming elections.

What challenges affect education in India?

Europe was the centre of power in the nineteenth century, the twentieth century was Americanized. Now, Asia’s rise has been swift. Over the past few decades, the Centre of power has shifted from West to East. &nbsp;India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s remarks on the “Asian century” triggered the discourse on how normalcy matters between New Delhi and Beijing in shaping the "Asian Century" which was itself coined by the former Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping in 1988. 

Addressing the future of India-China relations at Chulalongkorn University, he described it as an extremely difficult phase. It is, however, worthwhile to quote the former U.S. Senator and American diplomat, “There are no permanent friends or permanent enemies, just permanent interests.” In response, Beijing backs that ‘we have far more common interests than differences'. This piece provides three reasons to substantiate the notion of an Asian century and further highlight that organizations like BRICS and SCO may diffuse the existing deep hostilities and suspicions within the Asian region. Under this backdrop, let us examine how New Delhi and Beijing can shape the Asian Century. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Firstly, Asia is the home for fast-growing Emerging Markets. Asia currently hosts two fast-growing economies that are in the top 10 by GDP PPP. For example, in 2021 China was in the second place on the list (only the United States remained ahead), whereas India ranked sixth, and this Asian country was ahead of such mature economies as Canada, Italy, France, and Australia. Both countries aim to ensure economic growth, and they are the largest consumers of natural and mineral resources in the world that to provide the industries with ‘’combustible materials’’. In 2020, China was the world's biggest importer of crude oil ($150 billion), iron ore ($99 billion), petroleum gas ($36.6 billion) and copper ore ($33.9 billion). 

As of 2021, China remained the largest importer of crude oil, ahead of the USA. China accounted for 22.3% of global crude oil imports. At the same time, India imported 10.4% of global crude oil imports. And the country ranked third with this indicator. Coal is another raw material that could provide rapid growth for China and India economies and to decrease the poverty of its population.&nbsp;&nbsp;In 2021, China and India were among the top five countries that were world leaders in coal imports. In terms of coal imports, India ranked first. China was in third place behind Japan. It is interesting to note that Asian countries accounted for the highest dollar worth of imported coal in 2021 with purchases amounting to $120.5 billion or 80.9% of the worldwide total. &nbsp;

Currently, the geopolitical situation is beneficial for these Asian countries and probably it will help to bring the Asian century much closer. Russia is one of the largest oil and coal exporters in the world. Western countries have imposed a ban to buy Russian hydrocarbons. That is the reason India and China increased Russian oil and coal imports. Actually, in the July 2022 India's coal import raised 10% on-month to 2.03 million tons from Russia. On the other hand, in June 2022, China increased coal imports from Russia by 22%compared to the previous month, to 6.12 million tons. 

Secondly, Asia is the venue for Demographic Giants. The problem of ensuring growth for the two Asian economies is directly related to the urgency to reduce poverty and to improve living standards for the population. India and China are two demographic giants. These are the most populated countries in the world. In 2022, China ranked first in the world, and India ranked second. Both countries have populations over a billion. The BRICS countries (the group also includes Brazil, Russia, and South Africa) are regarded as the five major emerging economies expected to dominate in the 21st century, are all in the top ten most populous countries (South Africa is exception), indicating how important the size of their populations are to their economic expansion. Currently, the main source of economic growth is human capital. The quality of human capital affects the creativity and innovativeness of the country's economy. Unlike mature economies of developed nations, India and China are the largest reservoir of human capital that will ensure economic growth over the long term. In another words, demographic dividend of India and China is one of the main pillar of Asian century.

Thirdly, BRICS is the Frame for Asian Century. India and China are the members of BRICS. The organization is informal, but it is a platform for direct interaction between the countries. This fact allows coordinating actions in different areas (humanitarian sphere, academic and research cooperation, trade, military interactions, etc.). BRICS makes it possible to establish and maintain direct contacts at the highest level. Any organization needs time to develop mutually beneficial mechanisms of interaction. However, it is India and China that can turn the BRICS into a reliable framework for building Asian century. These countries have the great potential because of their demographic, industrial, intellectual and creative resources. The Asian region forms the current agenda that developed countries have to reckon with. 

For a long time, the Asian region was in the shadow of European and American powers. The need to cope with numerous problems and overcome countless disputes did not allow the countries of the region to form a system that would transform their immense potential into a world of prosperity and progress. The Asian century is not about seizing resources and imposing one's power on other peoples and countries. The Asian century will reveal the full diversity of cultures and civilizations of the region, which are capable of providing prosperity and happiness to billions of people on the planet. To ensure the Asian century, two countries that form its basis are of great importance. India and China are able to anchor in the global world to overcome various contradictions and build a system with permanent friends for mutual economic and social prosperity. Billions of people with their everyday hard work and desire for a better life deserve the advent of the Asian century, which will show that cultural, political, language, and ethnical differences are no longer obstacles for true human happiness.

In another words, demographic dividend of India and China is one of the main pillar of Asian century. Thirdly, BRICS is the Frame for Asian Century. India and China are the members of BRICS. The organization is informal, but it is a platform for direct interaction between the countries. This fact allows coordinating actions in different areas (humanitarian sphere, academic and research cooperation, trade, military interactions, etc.). BRICS makes it possible to establish and maintain direct contacts at the highest level. Any organization needs time to develop mutually beneficial mechanisms of interaction. However, it is India and China that can turn the BRICS into a reliable framework for building Asian century. These countries have the great potential because of their demographic, industrial, intellectual and creative resources. The Asian region forms the current agenda that developed countries have to reckon with. For a long time, the Asian region was in the shadow of European and American powers. The need to cope with numerous problems and overcome countless disputes did not allow the countries of the region to form a system that would transform their immense potential into a world of prosperity and progress. The Asian century is not about seizing resources and imposing one's power on other peoples and countries. The Asian century will reveal the full diversity of cultures and civilizations of the region, which are capable of providing prosperity and happiness to billions of people on the planet. To ensure the Asian century, two countries that form its basis are of great importance. India and China are able to anchor in the global world to overcome various contradictions and build a system with permanent friends for mutual economic and social prosperity. Billions of people with their everyday hard work and desire for a better life deserve the advent of the Asian century, which will show that cultural, political, language, and ethnical differences are no longer obstacles for true human happiness.
