<p>Pakistan's 34-year-old foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari arrived in Goa this week for a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and depending on how you read it, &nbsp;you can interpret the Namaste returned by the young Bhutto scion to his counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar as a sign of diplomatic thaw, uneasy courtesy on a difficult encounter or persisting coldness between India and Pakistan.</p>

Bilawal's grandfather Zulfikar Ali Bhutto visited Delhi then as Pakistan's 36-year-old foreign minister to attend Nehru's funeral. The older Bhutto's American biographer Stanley Wolpert says that then-young Bhutto mistook the diminutive Shastri for a weakling and decided to push his country's military ruler Ayub Khan to invade Kashmir in 1965. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Pakistan lost the war badly. Bhutto resigned and rose in protest against the army ruler (much like Imran Khan did as PM recently) after joining the general in negotiating a peace treaty with Shastri, who died tragically and mysteriously in Tashkent where the treaty was signed. Uzbekistan is now part of the SCO, and memories of Tashkent come creeping in.</p>

<p>Why all this now? In time-slice terms, these images may show that Pakistan is a pale shadow of its former self as far as diplomatic and economic strengths go.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, the young Bhutto, despite losing his grandfather to a military ruler's noose and his mother to a mysterious election rally assassination in 2007, retains the family spunk to show strength in times of severe adversity.</p>

<p>In 2016, he described Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a "butcher" related to deaths in Gujarat and Kashmir and recently in March, raked up the Kashmir issue at the UN Security Council.</p>

<p>A Namaste in Goa cannot ease up relations between India and Pakistan any more than an elegantly worn saree did in Shimla in 1972. Pakistan's existential political weapons for mobilising mass support are Islam and Kashmir, and that does not appear to have changed despite Pakistan sinking deeply into an economic crisis.</p>

<p>We can always debate if demagogic politics is an escape from bad economics or &nbsp;if economic crises are caused by bad politics. Despite being liberals in their personal lives and amiable in their social behaviour, the Bhuttos have their political capital in the rhetoric that feeds Pakistan's masses. &nbsp;Unless that changes, little can be expected from the family that may still have the best interests of the average Pakistani in its hearts.</p>

<p>After attending a special screening of 'The Kerala Story' in India’s southern state Karnataka, the country's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President JP Nadda hailed the film saying that it exposes a new, poisonous form of terrorism in which ammunition is not used.</p>

<p>"There's a new type of terrorism which is without ammunition, 'The Kerala Story' exposes that poisonous terrorism. We have heard of terrorism that involves guns, weapons, and ammunition. But this is a dangerous kind of terrorism. This kind of terrorism isn't related to any state or religion," he said.</p>

<p>"The movie shows how youths are being influenced and made to follow wrong paths," the BJP chief added.</p>

BJP Chief Nadda attends special screening of 'The Kerala Story', says 'film exposes new type of terrorism'

<p>Indian Ministry of Education’s Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology (CSTT) is working to develop underrepresented technical and scientific terminology in 10 Indian regional languages.</p>

<p>Sanskrit, Bodo, Santhali, Dogri, Kashmiri, Konkani, Nepali, Manipuri, Sindhi, Maithili, and Konkani are among the 22 languages included in India’s Eighth Schedule as official languages. However, there is little study material produced in them, mostly because of a lack of vocabulary to explain technical concepts and scientific terms.</p>

<p>In three to four months, the CSTT will release what it refers to as basic dictionaries, with 5,000 terms in each language. These will be accessible digitally, without charge, and in a searchable format. There will be 1,000–2,000 copies printed in each language.</p>

<p>The first priority is to cover 15 fields, including civil and electrical engineering, journalism, public administration, chemistry, botany, zoology, psychology, physics, economics, Ayurveda, and mathematics. These will make it possible to create textbooks for both university and middle and senior schools.</p>

<p>To assist in the preparation of content for entrance exams like the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main, and University Grants Commission (UGC)-National Eligibility Test (NET), the dictionaries will be distributed to State education boards, universities, engineering schools, and the National Testing Agency.</p>

<p>In 1950, 14 languages were included in the national language list. Bodo, Dogri, Maithili, and Santhali were introduced in 2004, Konkani, Manipuri, and Sindhi in 1992, and Sindhi in 1967.</p>

<p>“There is a lack of content and linguistic resources in these 10 languages, leading to a lack of availability of learning material in these languages,” Prof. Girish Nath Jha, chairperson of the CSTT, Ministry of Education, said, reported The Hindu.&nbsp;</p>

These will be accessible digitally, without charge, and in a searchable format. There will be 1,000–2,000 copies printed in each language. <p>An Amphibious Assault ship of the Indian Navy, INS Magar's primary role has been that of an expeditionary warfare unit, which can carry eleven battle tanks, thirteen BMP infantry fighting vehicles, ten trucks, eight heavy motor vehicles, and more than 200 troops in various configurations.</p>

<p>The ship also carries an integral Seaking Helicopter for airborne operations and four Landing Craft Assault(LCA) for launching amphibious assaults.</p>

<p>Built by GRSE Kolkata, INS Magar was commissioned on 18th July 1987 in the eastern Indian city. The vessel was a major milestone for the Indian shipbuilding industry as it was the first indigenously built ship with more than 5000 gross register tonnage(referring to the ship's internal volume) and the first of the Landing Ship Tank (Large) class.</p>

<h2><strong>'Magar - A cross between a crocodile and fish'</strong></h2>

<p>The Ships crest depicts the Hindu mythological character Makara, riding the waves. The Makara is generally depicted as a half crocodile in the fore part with a tail of a fish. Makara is considered as the ‘Vahana’ (Vehicle) of Goddess Ganga and the sea god Varuna.</p>

<p>Dr Pramod Kumar Mishra, a cabinet rank official in India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration, met with Sri Lankan High Commissioner Milinda Moragoda in New Delhi on Friday to continue the bilateral dialogue between two South Asian neighbours on a number of issues, including on debt restructuring matters crucial for Colombo's economic recovery.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"The High Commissioner stressed the vital role that economic integration between the two countries could play in Sri Lanka's economic recovery," an official readout stated.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"High Commissioner Moragoda also followed up [Pramod Kumar Mishra] on a range of issues pertaining to the bilateral relationship that had been discussed during their last meeting in February," the readout added, while referring to a previous round of bilateral talks between New Delhi and Colombo that addressed former's support for latter's economic recovery alongside aforementioned matters of bilateral cooperation.</p>

<p>"The matters discussed included further economic integration between Sri Lanka and India, enhancing Indian investments and tourism in Sri Lanka, ways and means to further promote bilateral trade, cooperation in power and energy sector as well as aspects relating to Rupee trade," the official readout stated further.</p>

<p>Several banks in Sri Lanka have opened special rupee trading accounts, called Vostro accounts. This means that Sri Lankan citizens can now hold $10,000 (₹8,26,823) in physical form and for transactions with their Indian counterparts, they can use Indian rupees instead of US dollars.&nbsp;</p>

<p>India held a foreign ministers' meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) on 5 May in Goa which saw the participation of the Pakistani minister as well.</p>

<p>The meeting laid out the groundwork for the upcoming SCO Summit in July in New Delhi. During a press briefing after the SCO summit, India's External Affairs minister Dr S Jaishankar made comments over Bhutto Zardari's mention of India's constitutional changes to reverse the semi-autonomous status of Jammu and Kashmir with abrogation of Article 370.</p>

<p>Jaishankar, during the meeting, called out Pakistan's state-sponsored terrorism, "The victims of terrorism do not sit down with perpetrators of terrorism to talk about terrorism."</p>

<p>"On terrorism, Pakistan's credibility is depleting faster than their forex reserves," Jaishankar said. "There is only one issue to discuss on Kashmir which is when will Pakistan give back Pakistan Occupied Kashmir," he added.<br />

Bilawal Zardari returned from India on a special Pakistan Air Force plane and landed in Karachi where he was received by Sindh chief minister, Murad Ali Shah, and other cabinet members.</p>

Bilawal Zardari returned from India on a special Pakistan Air Force plane and landed in Karachi where he was received by Sindh chief minister, Murad Ali Shah, and other cabinet members.
