In an unsurprising turn of events, the British tabloid report of a finalized merger between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf may have been premature. The Sun reported Saturday that the long-awaited merger between the rival golf circuits was complete and, per the headline, "Golf's civil war OVER." But on Tuesday, Front Office Sports cited industry sources in reporting that the tabloid had jumped the gun. Several details remain to be ironed out, including the major issue of navigating antitrust concerns in the United States.

There is "heavy internal pressure" to finalize the merger before the end of 2024 in the interest of making future scheduling easier, Front Office Sports reported. The PGA Tour has already released its 2025 schedule, and LIV has put out four tournament dates for 2025 so far.

The shock merger between the PGA Tour and LIV was announced in early June 2023, with a self-imposed Dec. 31, 2023, deadline to finalize the "framework agreement." That deadline came and went, and PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan continues to meet and play golf with Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan as the 18-month mark approaches.

The Sun's tantalizing report claimed that PIF would receive an 11 percent share in the PGA Tour; that LIV's 14 annual team events would be brought under the PGA umbrella; and that Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy "played key roles in the peace talks."

Golf: PGA Tour-LIV merger rumors premature - Report

It was a historic day in the United States on Wednesday (Nov. 6) as former President Donald Trump returned to power after getting a mandate in the 2024 elections. Trump, president of the US between 2016 and 2020, is all set to start his second term after gaining a majority on Electoral College votes' counting. While Trump is in seventh heaven, former India cricket team captain MS Dhoni is also doing the rounds on the internet after his old picture with Trump has gone viral.

<h2>Trump, Dhoni picture goes viral</h2>

During the 2023 US Open, Dhoni and friends were in the States enjoying the tennis carnival when they were invited by Trump for a golf game. Now retired, Dhoni took to the golf course of the next president, where he enjoyed a day out. On the same day, Dhoni was snapped in a picture with Trump, which is now viral on the internet after the latter’s win. Dhoni was seen wearing a blue T-shirt and Trump was spotted with a red hat and white T-shirt.

<h2>Trump registers historic win</h2>

In a historic win, according to the Electoral College votes' count, the 78-year-old is set to become only the second president in the United States’ history to enjoy non-consecutive terms. Grover Cleveland in 1893 was the last president from the US to have been in power for non-consecutive terms. Trump’s victory comes after he got the better of Democratic candidate and sitting vice-president Kamala Harris.

At the time of writing, the Republic candidate led 277-224, meaning he clearly has the mandate to become the 47th president, having passed the magical figure of 270. According to the Associated Press, Trump won Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Georgia, with leads in Nevada, Arizona, Wisconsin and Michigan.

The result also means the US will see another shift in power, with Trump set to become the first Republic candidate in over two decades to win the popular vote as well.

Liverpool must perform better with and without the ball when they face Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League at Anfield on Tuesday, head coach Arne Slot said after his side had to come from behind to win in the Premier League at the weekend.

Forward Mohamed Salah earned the Reds a 2-1 home victory against Brighton &amp; Hove Albion on Saturday as they recovered to move top of the standings having conceded an early goal.

"Football is played in two moments, having the ball and not. And against strong teams, Leverkusen is one, you need to be good on both sides," Slot told a press conference on Monday as his side prepared to face the German champions.

"We were poor on both sides, not as good with or without (the ball) on Saturday against Brighton, so we need a second-half performance because Leverkusen are at least equal to Brighton with the ball. So we need a much better performance than the first half."

Alongside Aston Villa, Liverpool are the only other team with a perfect Champions League record this season after three games and are second to the Midlands side on goal difference.

On Tuesday, Leverkusen's Xabi Alonso will try to change that, with the former Spain midfielder returning to Anfield for the first time as a coach to take on his old side, who he helped win Europe's elite club competition in 2005.

"It's difficult to say what makes him a special manager if you don't work with him but he is, that is clear," Slot said. "Bottom of the league when he took over, didn't spend much, bought one or two players, had that (kind of) season - it's special," he added, with Leverkusen winning a domestic double last term having been unbeaten in the Bundesliga.

They only lost in the Europa League final to Atalanta.

"I haven't faced him (Alonso) or worked with him but what might be the situation is he worked with incredible managers in the past and played at the highest levels. So he knows what players feel at certain moments."

Alonso also helped Liverpool to the 2006-07 Champions League final, where they lost 2-1 to AC Milan.

Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher said: "I remember watching him, he was a class player when he was here, so I have good memories of him, his passing range was outrageous.

"I think the fans will give him a great reception but the focus is on getting a result and making sure he doesn't go home happy."

Liverpool can count on defender Ibrahima Konate, who returned to training after coming off at halftime against Brighton.

"He's available to play, and I think also completely recovered, so there is no issue for him not to play because of what (happened)," Slot said. "Then it's up to me to make the decision if he plays or not. But he's in a good place."

Chilean football star Arturo Vidal and players from his first-division Colo Colo side are being investigated for sexual assault, the prosecutor's office in Santiago said Monday.

The investigation was triggered after a complaint was made against the players but so far no one has been arrested, the office said.

It did not say which of Vidal's teammates were also targeted in the probe.

Chilean media said the alleged assault took place in the early hours of Monday at a Santiago night club, where a group of Colo Colo players were celebrating a birthday.

Police chief Gerardo Aravena said that 37-year-old former Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Juventus and Inter Milan midfielder Vidal was brought to a police station for an identity check.

Vidal has scored 34 goals in 142 appearances with the Chilean national squad.

The investigation comes days after former Chilean international Jorge Valdivia, 41, was placed in preventive custody after being accused of rape.

Valdivia denied the charges, saying he had "a consensual relationship with an adult woman."

He was part of the so-called "Golden Generation" that led Chile to victory in the 2015 Copa America. He also played for the national team in the 2010 and 2014 World Cups.

Zheng Qinwen improved her chances of advancing to the semi-finals at the WTA Finals with a 7-6 (7/4), 3-6, 6-1 victory over world number five Elena Rybakina in Riyadh on Monday. The seventh-seeded Zheng rebounded from her opening round-robin defeat by Aryna Sabalenka by claiming her first win from three meetings with Rybakina.

Meanwhile, Rybakina suffered a second defeat in as many matches this week in Saudi Arabia and is facing elimination, with one more round-robin clash to go against Sabalenka on Wednesday.

During her on-court interview, Zheng apologised to the Chinese fans in the stands for "losing control" of her emotions at one point during the match, admitting she was "harsh" in her reaction to them, and thanked them for their support.

"I'm really happy to have won this match because I never beat her before and she's one of the greatest players right now on tour, huge serve and great groundstrokes," said Zheng. "I didn't take my chances in the second set but I was able to come back in the third and I stayed focused.

"I had to stay really focused on my service games, because here, both of us are destroying our serves, it's really tough to return."

Zheng arrives in Riyadh on the back of an impressive second half of the season that saw her win titles in Palermo and Tokyo, and an Olympic gold medal in singles in Paris. No woman has won more matches than her within that span.

The first Chinese player to qualify for the WTA Finals since Li Na in 2013, Zheng amassed a 12-2 win-loss record during the Asian swing last month and is the tour leader in most aces struck and percentage of first-serve points won.

Rybakina's second part of 2024 could not have been more different.

The Kazakh had played just two matches between Wimbledon and the WTA Finals as she struggled with allergies, insomnia, and a back injury.

After saving a pair of break points on her own serve in the third game, Zheng made her move, breaking Rybakina en route to a 4-1 advantage.

Rybakina wiped out her deficit, attacking Zheng's second serve, and was soon on level terms at 4-4.

The set fittingly went to a tie-break which Zheng sealed on a long forehand from Rybakina on the 58-minute mark.

In a pattern similar to the opening set, Zheng carved out a lead in the second frame, only for Rybakina to strike back and even the score. This time though, the big-hitter took four games in a row to claim the second set and force a decider.

Zheng shook off early trouble on her serve in the final set before surging ahead 4-1. It was the boost she needed to wrap up the win –- the ninth of her career against a top-10 opponent.

WTA Finals: China’s Zheng Qinwen improves semis chances with win over fifth-seeded Elena Rybakina

Soccer in Spain should have been completely suspended after the worst flash floods in decades swept the eastern region of Valencia last week, killing at least 215 people, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti said on Monday.

Real's visit to Valencia on Saturday was one of the several LaLiga games postponed after the Spanish FA (RFEF) ordered to re-schedule all games scheduled for Valencia at the weekend in addition to seven cup ties last week.

Ancelotti said it was nonsense that in other places of the country the competitions continued as expected and argued that there was no enthusiasm in Spain to play football at the moment.

"Football is a party and you can only celebrate and party when you, your family and everybody is well... When people are not well, you don't party," Ancelotti told a press conference ahead of Real's Champions League clash against AC Milan on Tuesday.

"Football has to stop... For me it does. Because it is the most important of the least important things in life. But we are not the decision makers... We have to follow the instructions of those who are in charge.

"There are many ways to help. Football had to stop and then help. Everyone has been clear about it, nobody wanted to play. It seemed like the right decision... I have no desire to talk about football today..."

Ancelotti said that the 4-0 loss to rivals Barcelona and the disappointment of forward Vinicius Jr not winning the Ballon d'Or award were a distant memory due to the sorrow caused by the tragedy and that he is trying his best to keep the players' mindset in the right place for Tuesday's clash.

Ancelotti, who won eight trophies with Milan including two Champions League titles, said it was bittersweet to face his former club in such circumstances.

"It was supposed to be a special game for me, facing Milan... But there is no meaning in talking about football now," Ancelotti said. "It has been a difficult week, not because of what happened with the Ballon d'Or or El Clasico... It happened and that's that, congratulations to the winners. Our sadness is not about that, it is for what is happening here in Spain."

With India losing the home Test series 0-3, their chances of reaching the WTC Final 2025 suffered a serious beating; for them to now qualify for the summit clash for the third straight time, they must beat Australia 4-0, something Gavaskar feels is like a mountain to climb for the visitors.

Gavaskar tore into BCCI’s ‘short-gain policy’ of preparing tracks for just spinners when their team has the best fast bowler in the world – Jasprit Bumrah, saying this cost India in this series, adding with this low morale, it’s hard to pull off a miracle Down Under.

“Australia looks like a huge mountain to climb after the Indian team stumbled terribly on a speed bump called New Zealand. Nobody, not even the Kiwis themselves, would have thought of a clean sweep against India, and that too in India.”&nbsp;

“It has happened thanks to the short-gain policy of preparing pitches for our spinners when just about everybody in the cricketing world agrees that we have the best new-ball bowler in the world across all formats," Gavaskar wrote in his column for Sportstar.

<h2>Calling off intra-squad game upsets Gavaskar</h2>

The BCCI had earlier planned an intra-squad game between India and India-A at the WACA in Perth ahead of the first Test but scrapped this idea at the last minute, restricting India’s preparation for the marquee series to just training in the nets and batting on centre wicket.

Though most batters picked have toured Australia before, Gavaskar feels this decision could cost the newcomers like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sarfaraz Khan, who are crucial to the side’s success in Australia.

"We are now told that the warm-up game before the first Test has been called off. Wouldn’t it benefit youngsters like (Yashasvi) Jaiswal and Sarfaraz (Khan), who are playing on Australian pitches for the first time, to get some runs under their belt and get a feel of what the pitches will be like?&nbsp;

"And if they get out early, they can still get into the nets and practice against the throw-down specialist or the net bowlers. For bowlers like Akash Deep and Harshit Rana too, it’s essential to know the best length to bowl in Australia, as it’s different from India, and the best learning is in a proper match and not just net practice.&nbsp;

"Let’s just hope that good sense prevails, and even now, though it’s too late, some warm-up games can be arranged, even if it’s against the State A teams like Queensland A and Victoria A. These warm-up games will give the first-timers to Australia and youngsters good practice and a better chance to succeed," Gavaskar added.

Meanwhile, the Optus Stadium in Perth will host the first Test starting November 22.&nbsp;

‘Cricketing world agrees…’ – India legend slams BCCI’s ‘short-gain policies’ after New Zealand whitewash

Ace Indian seamer Mohammed Shami’s return date to competitive cricket takes a back seat after the Bengal seamer failed to make the cut in the Ranji Trophy squad for Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh games. Shami declared himself 100% match-fit last month, giving hopes of breaking into the Test squad for the marquee Border-Gavaskar series; however, the selectors decided against picking him, with the Indian captain admitting that taking undercooked Shami Down Under would do no good to the travelling side.

"I had been bowling with half a run-up on and off since I can't put too much stress on my body. So, we decided that I would bowl properly, and I gave my 100%. "It felt great, and the results are good. Hopefully, I'll be back on track soon," Shami said during a promotional event last month.&nbsp;

Shami had suffered an ankle injury during the home ODI World Cup last year, and was India’s top wicket-taker with 24 scalps in seven contested matches&nbsp;though he played with injury till the final. Picked for South Africa Tests later, Shami withdrew his name, with doctors not clearing him for on-field return.

The right-arm seamer underwent ankle surgery earlier this year in London and has been recovering and training at the NCA in Bengaluru since. Having missed all cricket action since November last year, Shami was in line for a comeback ahead of the Australia series. But before the selectors could rope him into the Test squad for New Zealand Tests, he suffered a setback in his recovery, delaying his return to competitive cricket.&nbsp;

The selectors, team management and even the fans kept their fingers crossed over Shami’s fitness; however, upon reviewing his recovery pace, the selectors decided against naming him in the 18-man squad for the BGT.

<h2>No Shami for Bengal</h2>

Shami was expected to start for Bengal in their next two Ranji Trophy fixtures, against Karnataka on November 6 and Madhya Pradesh on November 13. But his absence from the squad indicates that the India bowler hasn’t completely recovered from his injury and might take longer to get back onto the field.

Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah will lead India's pace attack in his absence, &nbsp;which consists of Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep and Harshit Rana, with Mukesh Kumar, Navdeep Saini and Khaleel Ahmed picked as reserves.

Bowling great Wasim Akram reckons that should India and Pakistan compete in a Test series on turning tracks, Pakistan will prevail over their arch-rivals. The Indian Cricket Team suffered a 0-3 mauling at the hands of New Zealand recently, surrendering a home Test series for the first time in 12 years. With this win, the Kiwis also became the first team to whitewash India in their home conditions in this format.

On the other hand, Pakistan tasted success against England during their home series. Having lost it 0-3 the last time in 2022, Pakistan turned the tables around by preparing turning tracks and trapping the visiting team in their spin web. After going down in the first Test in Multan despite scoring 556 in the first innings, the hosts won the remaining two encounters in Multan and Rawalpindi, with their spinner duo of Noman Ali and Sajid Khan&nbsp;sharing 39 wickets among them.

For India, everyone, barring Rishabh Pant and Washington Sundar, struggled against the turning deliveries, let alone the greats – Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who averaged 10.5 and 16.5, respectively.&nbsp;

The New Zealand spin trio of Ajaz Patel, Mitchell Santner and Glenn Phillips got superb purchases from the wickets on offer at all three venues, with Santner picking his career-best 13 wickets in the second game in Pune.

On the other hand, Patel, who made headlines for becoming only the third bowler after Jim Laker and Anil Kumble to pick ten wickets in a Test innings the last time he played in Mumbai, bagged 11 wickets across two innings at the same venue this time, restricting India to 121 in the final Test.

<h2>Pakistan to beat India on rank-turners</h2>

Considering India’s recent struggle against spin, the former England captain Michael Vaughan asked Wasim on commentary during the Pakistan-Australia MCG ODI for his opinion on which team would stand tall should the arch-rivals face off in Tests but on turning tracks. Replying to Vaughan’s question, Wasim said,&nbsp;“It will be massive. It will be good for the game, for two cricket-crazy nations.”&nbsp;&nbsp;

In response to Vaughan’s comment that “Pakistan can now beat India on turners,” Akram said, “Pakistan have a chance to beat India in Tests now on a spinning track. They have been hammered by New Zealand 3-0 at home."

India and Pakistan last played each other in Tests in 2007, where India won the three-match series 1-0. Since then, due to political tensions between both countries, no bilateral cricket took place, let alone a Test series, with India and Pakistan only facing each other in ICC events or the Asia Cup tournament.&nbsp;

KL Rahul and keeper-batter Dhruv Jurel are two BGT-bound Indian players flying to Australia a week earlier than the remainder of the Test squad. The duo will feature for India-A, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, in the second unofficial Test, scheduled for November 7 start at the MCG, to get some match practice ahead of the marquee Australia series beginning on November 22 in Perth. &nbsp;

India-A lost the first match in Mackay by seven wickets, with Test hopefuls Abhimanyu Easwaran and all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy failing to leave any mark across both innings.&nbsp;

The match, however, made headlines for other reasons; the umpires accused India-A of ball tampering before the start of play on the final day, which led to an altercation between Ishan Kishan and the on-field umpires. Though the officials warned him for showing dissent, Kishan escaped a potential ban for passing a comment.

Meanwhile, Team India had dropped KL Rahul after the first Test against New Zealand in Bengaluru, wherein he returned with scores of 0 and 12 across two innings. Shubman Gill replaced Rahul in the batting order for the remaining two Tests; India’s new number three came good with the bat in the first innings in Mumbai, scoring a gritty 90. India, however, lost all three matches, surrendering the Test series to the Kiwis at home for the first time.

On the other hand, Jurel, who made his Test debut against England earlier this year, hasn’t featured in any of the five home Tests this season since Rishabh Pant’s return.&nbsp;Pant and Jurel are the two glovemen for India for the tour Down Under.

<h2>Training and not practice game for India</h2>

Earlier, the BCCI and the team management scheduled an intra-squad game between India and India-A at WACA before the first Test in Perth; however, the board altered the plans at the last minute, reducing Team India's preparation to training in the nets.&nbsp;

Captain Rohit Sharma echoed the same feelings after the final Test in Mumbai, which India lost by 25 runs.

"We are travelling with a squad of 19 players, and only three days were allotted to us. I don't know how much workload we can get in those three days in terms of getting everyone prepared," Rohit said on Sunday.

"The management feels that we'd rather have a match simulation where batters can spend more time in the middle, and the bowlers can bowl a lot of balls. That is something that we, as a team, feel more comfortable doing rather than playing a practice game because game time is not a problem,” he continued.

Meanwhile, the rest of the BGT-bound Test squad will fly to Australia on November 10 and will train at WACA stadium in Perth, where they will acclimatise to the playing conditions by training in the nets and centre wicket.&nbsp;

Australia captain Pat Cummins led his team to a narrow two-wicket win over Pakistan in the first ODI at the MCG on Monday (Nov 4). Cummins, who returned to the Australian colours for the first time since the T20 World Cup in the Americas, picked two wickets and scored an unbeaten 32 to guide his team over the winning line.&nbsp;

Asked to bat first at the ‘G’, Pakistan lost both openers to Mitchell Starc, with the premier seamer removing Saim Ayub first, bowled on just one. Abdullah Shafique departed soon after, with Babar Azam and newly-appointed white-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan steadying the ship with a 39-run stand.

Captain Pat Cummins leads Australia to narrow win over Pakistan in first ODI at MCG

A prolonged heavy rainstorm led to the postponement of qualifying at the Brazilian Grand Prix on Saturday as deteriorating conditions and poor light ended the day's action at Interlagos.

The session has been delayed until Sunday morning, in the hope the weather improves, but forecasts have suggested that may not be a foregone conclusion.

Officials later said qualifying will take place on Sunday at 1030 GMT with the start of the race brought forward 90 minutes due to concerns over the weather and will get underway at 1530 GMT.

As night began to fall on Saturday, drivers waved to fans on the pit-wall –- giving the big crowd who had waited for more than two hours in the rain -– some reward for their patience.

Formula One boss Stefano Domenicali confirmed the postponement at 1950 GMT and praised the fans inside the circuit for their patience and support.

After several inspections, it was announced the organisers hoped to begin the session at 1615 local (1915 GMT), but that proved to be impossible.

"Lewis wants to race," he said. "But it is too dark for that."

The expectation among paddock observers was that qualifying would begin at 0900 local time (1200 GMT) on Sunday when world champion and series leader Max Verstappen will start the race with a five-place grid penalty for taking a new engine, his sixth of the season.

Verstappen was penalised earlier on Saturday for an infringement of the Virtual Safety Car rules which cost him seconds and dropped him from third to fourth in the sprint race behind the triumphant McLarens of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri with Charles Leclerc promoted to third for Ferrari.

This result permitted Norris to trim the Dutchman's lead in the title race by three points to 44 with four Grands Prix and one sprint race remaining this year.

'Not safe' - Brazilian GP qualifying postponed to Sunday due to heavy rain

England captain Liam Livingstone struck a magnificent century to guide the tourists to a five-wicket victory over West Indies in Antigua on Saturday which squared the series at 1-1. Set a formidable target of 329 to keep the three-match series alive, Livingstone cracked an unbeaten 124 off 85 balls including nine sixes as England timed their chase to perfection.

West Indies looked favourites after harvesting 93 off the final 10 overs of their innings in which Shai Hope struck a superb 117 and England tried nine different bowlers.

England had little margin for error at 160-4 after 28 overs but Livingstone, in partnership with Sam Curran who made a run-a-ball 52, kept them on track, although 100 off the last 10 overs for victory was still a sizeable task.

The pendulum swung rapidly towards the tourists though as Livingstone turned up the heat with some huge sixes off some poor West Indies bowling in his first ODI century.

In the end it was comfortable for England as Livingstone hit 22 runs off Shamar Joseph in the 47th over to make victory a formality. He scored the winning run with 15 balls to spare.

England's innings was given some impetus by opener Phil Salt who made 59 off 59 balls while Jacob Bethell scored 55.

"We needed somebody in our top six to go on and get us a big score. Salty batted beautifully, put the pressure on them," Livingstone said. "We were sloppy in the field but our bowlers did well, took wickets throughout.

"We have got a lot of young guys learning the ropes in international cricket, this will do them a world of good. Back in the series, looking forward to Barbados."

<h2>‘Decent Score’</h2>

West Indies captain Hope, who bagged his 17th ODI century, said he felt his side had control.

"Personally, I thought it was a decent score, especially with the conditions, the outfield was heavy, the surface was up and down, but it was not enough," he said. "We thought we had clear plans, but we did not execute our plans well today. We gave them a lot of easy options to score and when you play international cricket, the guys will capitalise and that's what happened."

Hope arrived at the start of the fourth over after West Indies openers Brandon King and Evin Lewis both fell cheaply to John Turner after the hosts were invited to bat first.

He and Keacy Carty steadied the ship in a stand of 143 before Carty, who was dropped on single figures, was out for 71, bowled through the gate by Adil Rashid.

Hope was dropped on 60 off the bowling of Bethell and he took full advantage against a ragged England attack.

With Hope set, Sherfane Rutherford piled pressure on England with a half century from 36 deliveries while Shimron Hetmyer's 24 came off 11 balls. Hope was eventually out when he mistimed a drive off Jofra Archer and picked out Livingstone.

When Matthew Forde cleared the boundary rope three times in the 50th over it looked bleak for England.

The tourists lost opener Will Jacks for 12 as he struck a Forde delivery straight to Lewis at deep square leg.

Jordan Cox looked uncomfortable before falling to a short-pitched ball from Shamar Joseph but Salt showed great control to reach his half century before becoming Forde's second victim.

Livingstone, first with Bethell and then with Curran, was the difference between the sides, though, as he punished some wayward West Indies bowling.

Liam Livingstone’s career-best score helps England level West Indies' ODIs after Hope's heroics

Aryna Sabalenka began her quest to secure the year-end number one ranking with a thumping 6-3 6-4 victory over China's Zheng Qinwen in her opening round robin match at the WTA Finals in Riyadh on Saturday.

Australian and U.S. Open champion Sabalenka, who is headlining the first women's professional tennis tournament in Saudi Arabia, packed far too much power for Zheng at crucial points in their fourth meeting of 2024 to stay perfect.

"She's such a great player. We always have great battles," Sabalenka said. "She plays aggressive tennis. She forced me to step in and go for it. That's why I bring my best tennis and I'm super happy with the first win."

In a rematch of their Melbourne and Wuhan title clashes, it was Belarusian Sabalenka who edged ahead in a tight opening set with a break in the sixth game and took the early lead in the contest by holding to love.

Olympic champion Zheng enjoyed plenty of vociferous support at the King Saud University Indoor Arena and led four times in a closer second set but Sabalenka drew level each time and finally broke for a 5-4 lead with a searing forehand winner.

She wrapped up the contest on serve despite a wobble with a double fault, when Zheng sent a forehand long.

The WTA Finals, which features the top eight singles players and doubles teams in the world and has a record prize pot of $15 million, will culminate with the title clashes on Nov. 9.

Winning three round robin matches or reaching the final are some of the ways Sabalenka can retain top spot this year, while closest challenger Iga Swiatek needs to successfully defend the trophy to have any chance of overtaking her.

"It would mean everything to me. It's one of my dreams," Sabalenka said about potentially winning the title after losing in the final when it was held in Fort Worth, Texas in 2022. "I've really worked hard in the last few years. I really hope I'll be able to hold this beautiful trophy one day."

Roland Garros and Wimbledon runner-up Jasmine Paolini then beat 2022 All England Club champion Elena Rybakina 7-6(5) 6-4 in the second match from the Purple Group.

Swiatek takes on Barbora Krejcikova in the Orange Group on Sunday before Coco Gauff meets Jessica Pegula.

Lionel Messi’s Inter goes down to Atlanta United in MLS Playoffs, Miami to host decider next week

Rohit Sharma took responsibility for India suffering a whitewash at the hands of New Zealand in the just-concluded Test series at home. Having failed to lead the side over the winning line even once in three Tests this time, more so for not delivering with the bat across six outings, Rohit admitted the final result hurts and that there’s a lot of reflection to do ahead of the marquee Border-Gavaskar series that starts on November 22 in Perth.

Scoring just 91 runs in three Tests, Rohit failed to provide the start India longed for in this series, resulting in them falling behind every time. However, he lamented the collective batting failure behind India&nbsp;losing a Test series at home for the first time in 12 years. The last time a touring team beat India in India was England in 2012 when they won the four-match series 2-1.

"Losing a series, a Test match, is never easy... something that is not easily digestible. We didn't play our best cricket, New Zealand played better throughout the series,” Rohit said after the series loss to New Zealand.

“There were a lot of mistakes we did. The first two Tests we did not put enough runs in the first innings. This game we got the 30 runs [28] lead, and the target was chaseable. We failed as a unit,” he continued.

<h2>Youngsters shone for India</h2>

Although the biggies were far from convincing, several youngsters did the job for India, including a Test great in making Rishabh Pant, all-rounder Washington Sundar and India’s new number three in Tests, Shubman Gill. While Pant impressed with the bat throughout, scoring 261 runs across six outings, Sundar’s handy contribution with the ball in hand impressed everyone.

On the other hand, Gill played a handy knock of 90 in the first innings in Mumbai, cementing his place as Team India’s new number three.&nbsp;

"Pant, Gill, and Washington showed how to bat on those surfaces. You have to be proactive, the last three or four years, we have been playing on pitches like that. This was an unfortunate series where we tried certain things that did not come off. I was not at my best as captain in leading the team as well as with the bat. Collectively, as a unit, we failed to perform,” the Indian captain noted.

Meanwhile, the captain was aware of not justifying his role as a batter and the captain in this series.

“But this series, it didn't come off, certain things (on how to bat in such pitches), which didn't come off, and that's going to hurt. From a personal point of view, I wasn't at my best with both bat, and as a captain, that's something that'll rankle me. But, we didn't perform well collectively and that's the reason for these losses,” Rohit concluded.

‘I wasn’t at my best as captain and with bat’ – Rohit Sharma takes responsibility for series whitewash to NZ

Ajaz Patel picked 11 wickets in Mumbai to help New Zealand win the third and final Test against India, claiming a 3-0 win – perhaps their greatest Test series win ever. Though Rishabh Pant tried saving India’s sinking ship with a gritty 64 in the second inning, a horror collective show with bat from the rest ensured India surrendered in the third straight Test this time.&nbsp;

With this series win, New Zealand became the first team to whitewash India in Tests in India.

Almost three years after rocking the cricket world with his ten wickets in an innings against India in the Mumbai Test, New Zealand’s Ajaz Patel returned to haunt the hosts at the same venue, picking six wickets in the second innings, including removing big ones like Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill and even domestic giant Sarfaraz Khan. With Washington Sundar’s wicket, Patel completed a historic win for New Zealand on this tour, helping them clinch an away Test series in India – the toughest feat to conquer.

Chasing 147, India lost their captain, Rohit Sharma, to Matt Henry early in the innings before Patel accounted for Gill and Kohli to reduce India to 18 for three at one stage. Glenn Phillips got rid of Yashasvi Jaiswal on five before Patel returned to pick Sarfaraz Khan for the second time in this game to dent India’s morale.

Rishabh Pant's innings, however, was the only silver lining for the hosts, who, with his masterful counterattack, kept their hopes alive in this match.

Though Jadeja and Sundar provided little support from the other end, things began going downwards just after lunch, with India losing the remaining four wickets for 30 runs.

Phillips contributed with the ball in this Test, picking four wickets across both innings, including three in the second.&nbsp;

<h2>Pant – India’s saviour&nbsp;</h2>

Rishabh Pant was on song for India, hitting fifties in both innings. Though he made headlines for his heroics throughout this series, Gill’s 90 in the first innings laid the foundation for them to take the lead for the first time against New Zealand this time.

For the visitors, Daryl Mitchell (80) and Will Young (71) were the architects in the first innings, with Young continuing his brilliant touch in the next, hitting a standout 51.&nbsp;

For 244 runs across three matches, Young was named the Player of the Series.

Meanwhile, New Zealand was without their star batter, Kane Williamson, with Southee rested following the series win in Pune.

India will travel to Australia next for the marquee five-match Test series starting on November 22 in Perth, while New Zealand will host England for three Tests later this year.&nbsp;

Though Rishabh Pant tried saving India’s sinking ship with a gritty 64 in the second inning, a horror collective show with bat from the rest ensured India surrendered in the third straight Test this time. New Zealand win Mumbai Test to claim series 3-0, becomes first team to whitewash India in India

India captain Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli flopped in the second innings in Mumbai as the hosts lost six wickets in the 147-run chase before lunch on day three. While Rohit got out miscuing the pull shot off Matt Henry, caught at mid-wicket by Glenn Phillips on 11, Ajaz Patel had Kohli’s number on just one.&nbsp;

Rishabh Pant completed a remarkable fifty despite wickets tumbling at the other end, with India’s scorecard reading 92/6 at lunch on day three.

India needs 55 runs to win with four wickets remaining.

Meanwhile, Rohit’s opening partner, Yashasvi Jaiswal, departed on a single-digit score (5), trapped in the front of Phillips. Patel then accounted for India's first-inning hero, Shubman Gill, cleaning his off stump on one. For the nth time in his career, Gill got out similarly, with Ajaz’s delivery going straight with the arm and knocking his off-stump.

Patel, who picked a five-for in the first innings at Wankhede this time - where he bagged ten wickets in an inning the last time they played, removed Sarfaraz Khan on one to put India’s back against the wall. The left-arm orthodox also removed Sarfaraz in the first inning, with India’s domestic giant looking clueless against the turning ball.&nbsp;

However, Rishabh Pant’s counterattack and a 42-run stand with Ravindra Jadeja have kept India alive in this run-chase.

IND vs NZ 2024, 3rd Test, Day 3: Rishabh Pant’s counterattack keeps India alive in Mumbai run chase

The India-A side was accused of ball-tampering ahead of the start of the final day against Australia-A in Mackay. The on-field umpires also warned Ishan Kishan for showing dissent over the decision. The officials decided to change the ball used by the touring side following allegations of scratches on the ball.

Just before the fourth-day play of the 1st unofficial Test between India-A and Australia-A, the umpires were involved in a heated exchange with the visiting side, accusing them of tampering with the ball.&nbsp;

When the umpire Shawn Craig informed the players of changing the ball, Ishan found himself in hot waters for calling this decision ‘stupid’. The stump microphone picked up the conversation between the official and the players, which goes,&nbsp;Craig said, "Scratch it, we change the ball...no more discussion, let's play."&nbsp;

Kishan replied, "So we are going to play with this ball…that's a very stupid decision."

Craig responded, "Excuse me, you'll be on report for dissent. That's inappropriate behaviour. Because of your actions, we changed the ball."

Meanwhile, Kishan, who made headlines late last year for taking an infinite break from cricket for personal reasons and later for not abiding by BCCI’s directives to play Ranji Trophy matches, was eyeing a comeback to the international circuit via this series. And now, following this incident, Ishan could be subject to facing a potential ban should he be found guilty of altering the ball's condition, per Cricket Australia’s code of conduct.

“Any action(s) likely to alter the condition of the ball which are not specifically permitted under Law 41.3.2 may be regarded as unfair,” the code of conduct states.

<h2>Australia-A beat India-A</h2>

Chasing 224, Australia-A completed the run chase with seven wickets remaining, thanks to an incredible 141-run stand for the fourth wicket between captain Nathan McSweeney and Beau Webster. While Webster remained unbeaten on 61 off 117 balls, hitting four fours, McSweeney pressed his case for Australia Test debut against India with a match-winning 88* off 178 balls, smashing nine fours.

The Australia-A captain, however, was present at the scene when the drama surrounding ball-tampering began but admitted not knowing enough about it.

"I was at the striker's end when the umpires said they'd changed the ball, I'm not sure what quite for, I didn't notice any change in the ball personally," he said.

Meanwhile, Test hopefuls from both sides failed to leave an impression during this game. Those concerned will get another chance to prove their mettle (in the 2nd unofficial Test) before the marquee Border-Gavaskar Trophy gets underway with the Perth Test in Perth on November 22.&nbsp;

Ball-tampering allegations rock India-A as umpires warn Ishan Kishan for showing dissent

Ace Indian spinner and Test veteran Ravichandran Ashwin could return to his former IPL side, Chennai Super Kings, before the upcoming season. Per the latest report, Ashwin is on CSK's bucket list as the IPL 2025 mega auction looms.&nbsp;

CSK retained five players, including their captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dube, Matheesha Pathirana and MS Dhoni (as an uncapped player), and now they have a huge pool of players to fill, with Ashwin being one of them, per Times of India (TOI). Moreover, New Zealand opener Devon Conway is Chennai’s top choice for the Right to Match (RTM) card at the mega auction, the final date and venue of which are undecided yet.&nbsp;

Chennai let go of several superstars, including the Kiwis trio of Conway, Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell, two of which they bought ahead of IPL 2024. Though CSK failed to reach the playoffs the previous season, Rachin and Mitchell were among the runs for the franchise. While the left-handed Ravindra scored 222 runs with the bat, his highest being 61, Mitchell smashed 318 runs from 13 outings.&nbsp;

On the other hand, Conway, who missed the previous season with an injury, was CSK’s top scorer in IPL 2023, hitting 672 runs and striking at nearly 140 (139.71). He scored nine fifties, with his best being 92*. Chennai won the IPL that year, equalling Mumbai Indians’ record for most IPL titles (5).

Meanwhile, Chennai’s top picks would be a top-order Indian batter and an experienced pacer to lead the attack. CSK let go of Shardul Thakur, Tushar Deshpande, Deepak Chahar and Simarjeet Singh, alongside Sri Lankan T20 spinner Maheesh Theekshana.

Given how much CSK values loyalty and considering their pattern during previous IPL auctions, wherein they chased their core players, they are likely to go after the same set of players this time.&nbsp;

<h2>Rishabh Pant to CSK?</h2>

Having left with INR 55 crores in their auction purse, CSK are reportedly keen to get Rishabh Pant on board at the upcoming auction. &nbsp;

Though they have set a separate budget for Pant, CSK is believed to not go beyond the INR 25 crore mark. Given MS Dhoni’s stance in the league, with his IPL career in the twilight stage, Chennai will aim to bring a high-profile keeper-batter to replace him.&nbsp;

With Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul among the top Indian cricketers to enter the IPL 2025 mega auction, Chennai could be competing with several franchises over bagging the services of any of them should they fail to get Pant on the board.&nbsp;

Najmul Hossain Shanto to continue as Bangladesh captain for Afghanistan ODIs

Alexander Zverev beat fierce rival Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarter-finals of the Paris Masters on Friday, while Holger Rune edged Alex de Minaur to keep alive his hopes of reaching the ATP Tour Finals.

Zverev's 7-5, 6-4 win over Tsitsipas kept him in the running to claim his first title in Paris after losing to Daniil Medvedev in the 2020 championship match.

World number three Zverev -- the highest-ranked player left in the draw -- will face 2022 champion Rune in Saturday's semi-final after the Dane overcame De Minaur 6-4, 4-6, 7-5.

The 16th meeting between the 27-year-old German and 26-year-old Greek was evenly matched during a hard-fought first set.

"At the beginning, he was outplaying me but then I found my rhythm from the baseline," said Zverev on court. "And when I had my chance, I used it in the first set."

Indeed, once Zverev broke late in the opener and early in the second, it became a comfortable ride to just his sixth win against his long-time Greek rival.

The loss ends the chances of the world number 11 Tsitsipas of reaching the end-of-year ATP Finals -- having won the showpiece event in 2019.

Tsitsipas and Zverev started cautiously with both offering up opportunities for early breaks in their first service games.

But they soon found their range as the first set looked destined to require a tie-break to separate the pair on the quick surface at Paris' Bercy Arena.

However, the first break points of the match eventually came with Tsitsipas serving at 5-5, the German claiming the second on a double fault.

The Greek saved two set points and secured a break-back point of his own but Zverev dug in to hold.

Tsitsipas' shoulders visibly sagged as he offered up break point after break point at 1-1 in the second set.

When he dragged a shot long to end a game which had lasted over 15 minutes, his opponent had firmly taken the ascendancy.

Zverev, who reached the French Open final in Paris this year, served out to win and move towards a second ATP 1000-level trophy of the season.

<h2>'One of the best'</h2>

Former world number four Rune, the 13th seed, needed just one break of serve as he took the opener against De Minaur.

In the second set, the 25-year-old Australian started to open up on his groundstrokes, producing several stunning winners off both wings.

Rune finally relented when serving at 4-5, offering up three set points to De Minaur who duly converted the second with aplomb.

The Australian's first serve gradually deserted him in the decider and Rune capitalised by breaking in the fifth game, but De Minaur struck immediately back to level.

A huge net cord that clipped the line on the right side of the court for Rune gave him a 15-0 lead and he took full advantage, breaking to lead 6-5 before consolidating to win the match.

"Sascha (Zverev) and I had a great match in Paris, where he took it in five. I beat him one time, he took me last time," Rune said of facing Zverev who came out on top when the pair met in a five-set clash in the last 16 of the French Open this year.

"He is one of the best players this year, so I will have to be very well prepared."

With the result, both Rune and De Minaur still have a chance of reaching the Tour Finals in Turin, which run November 10-17.

Frenchman Ugo Humbert, who downed world number two Carlos Alcaraz in the last 16, delighted the vocal home crowd by beating unseeded Australian Jordan Thompson 6-2, 7-6 (7/4).

The world number 18 will face Russian Karen Khachanov in the other semi-final as he attempts to reach a first Masters final of his career and emulate Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in becoming the first French winner in Paris since 2008.

Khachanov, the 2018 Paris Masters champion, defeated last year's runner-up Grigor Dimitrov 6-2, 6-3, ending the 33-year-old Bulgarian's hopes of reaching Turin in the process.

ALSO READ: World Cup Qualifiers: Vinicius Jr and Raphinha headline Brazil squad as Neymar left out The 16th meeting between the 27-year-old German and 26-year-old Greek was evenly matched during a hard-fought first set. "At the beginning, he was outplaying me but then I found my rhythm from the baseline," said Zverev on court. "And when I had my chance, I used it in the first set." Indeed, once Zverev broke late in the opener and early in the second, it became a comfortable ride to just his sixth win against his long-time Greek rival. Ruben Amorim revealed Friday that he was told by Manchester United "it was now or never" after being handed a brief midway through the season to restore the struggling Premier League giants to the pinnacle of English and European football.

The 39-year-old Sporting Lisbon coach quickly emerged as the hot favourite for the Old Trafford job after Erik ten Hag was sacked on Monday following a terrible start to the season.

Amorim has signed a deal until 2027 and will join the club on November 11, becoming the sixth permanent manager since Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.

Amorim admitted in his first news conference since being given the job that he had endured a whirlwind few days.

"The only question I made was to go at the end of the season," Amorim said. "But I was told it was now or never. I had three days to make the decision. That's what I did.

"If I rejected it now, in six months I would not have got it. I didn't want to regret making this decision."

Amorim added that he had been approached by other clubs, one of which had offered him "three times" the windfall he would enjoy at United.

United described Amorim as "one of the most exciting and highly rated young coaches in European football".

"Highly decorated as both a player and coach, his titles include winning the Primeira Liga twice in Portugal with Sporting CP -- the first of which was the club's first title in 19 years," a club statement said.

Ruud van Nistelrooy will remain in temporary charge until Amorim arrives at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese coach will oversee Sporting's remaining matches before the international break, which started with a 5-1 rout of Estrela on Friday, the club's 10th win in 10 league games this season.

Sporting host Manchester City in the Champions League next Tuesday and Amorim's final game in charge is set to be against former club Braga in the league on November 10.

He will take charge of United for the first time on November 24, away at relegation-threatened Ipswich.

Sporting said in a statement United would pay the Portuguese club 11 million euros ($12 million) over Amorim's departure.

United sacked Ten Hag on Monday after a 2-1 defeat by West Ham left them languishing 14th in the Premier League, with just three wins from nine matches despite a huge financial outlay.

Ferguson won the Premier League title 13 times during a stay of nearly 27 years but the 20-time English champions have not mounted a sustained title challenge since.

Former United striker Van Nistelrooy said Thursday he was "motivated" to help turn United's season around and wants to stay at the club as he prepares the players for a high-profile match against Chelsea on Sunday.

Amorim, a former Portugal midfielder, started his managerial career with then third-tier Casa Pia in 2018 before a switch to Braga.

Sporting swooped in 2020 and he won the club's first league title in 19 years in his first full season in charge, repeating the feat last season.

Seen as one of the rising stars on the European coaching scene, he was linked with the manager's role at Liverpool once Jurgen Klopp announced he was leaving but Dutch coach Arne Slot headed to Anfield instead.

Amorim held talks with West Ham this year before they appointed former Spain coach Julen Lopetegui to replace David Moyes.

Former United defender Rio Ferdinand said Amorim has the "character and the charisma" that Ten Hag lacked.

Ten Hag meanwhile thanked United fans Friday night saying "my dream was to bring more trophies to the cabinet".

"Unfortunately, that dream has come to an end," he said in a statement. "I wish all Manchester United fans nothing but success, trophies and glory. Your support and the warmth I received from everyone at the club helped me feel at home. Thank you for this chapter in my life. Erik."

Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr and Barcelona winger Raphinha lead Brazil's squad for this month's World Cup qualifiers, while Neymar was left out of the team named by coach Dorival Jr on Friday.

Brazil's top scorer Neymar will remain on the sidelines for his country after returning from a long-term knee injury in Al-Hilal's 5-4 win over Al-Ain in the Asian Champions League last week.

Raphinha has been one of Barca's standout performers in the first half of the season and is coming off the back of a goal in a 4-0 win over Real Madrid and a hat-trick against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

World Cup Qualifiers: Vinicius Jr and Raphinha headline Brazil squad as Neymar left out

Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood has backed his teammate and star batter Babar Azam to make a stronger comeback following his omission from the Test side. After losing the first Test against England in Multan, the PCB formed a new selection committee, which took harsh calls, including dropping Babar and the seam duo of Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah for the remaining two Tests. Pakistan, however, went on to win the last two games and the first Test series at home since 2021.

Masood, who, alongside the coaches, was restricted to match-day decisions only, hails Babar, saying his omission will do more good to him than any harm. Masood added that he is no one to comment&nbsp;on Babar’s Test future but added that this break from cricket will benefit him.

"I think he's one of the best batsmen in the world. I'm nobody to [say he doesn't have] a future. He has every quality to be one of the greatest batsmen in Test cricket. He's always there or thereabouts in the rankings. Sometimes, people need a break,” Masood said during the chat with the BBC Stumped radio programme.

Babar has been in poor form lately, having not hit a Test hundred since December 2022 and in international cricket across any format since August 2023. His mediocre run with the bat cost Pakistan several times, both home and away, putting pressure on him, the captain, the team management and the selectors to justify his selection.&nbsp;

With Babar being picked for the Australia ODIs, starting Monday (Nov 4) in Melbourne, the selectors have restored faith in him to return fresh and with some runs under his sleeves.

"I think this break will do him a great deal of benefit and he'll come back a stronger player. There's no harm in being pulled out at times and having a breather. He's played a lot of cricket, and gone through a lot, and he'll always be one of the main batsmen to play for Pakistan,” Masood said.

<h2>Masood clears air on viral interview with Ramiz Raja</h2>

After winning the final Test in Rawalpindi, former Pakistan captain and PCB chairman Ramiz Raja conducted a post-match interview with Masood. His questions on how Masood led the side to six defeats before winning two matches against England made it very awkward for all present there and the viewers watching.

Though a short clip of that interview went viral, with Raja facing severe criticism for the same, he came out explaining what he meant in a separate video on his YouTube channel. Speaking on that, Masood said, "There are no hard feelings from my side.&nbsp;

"I've always been an open book in front of the media and tried to conduct myself in the best possible way. People have every right to ask questions however they want. I want to give the best account of myself and for my character to be reflected the way I am. I'm good at taking constructive criticism, and I'm also good at filtering stuff out,” he continued.&nbsp;

England Test captain and star all-rounder Ben Stokes might skip IPL 2025 to prioritise the upcoming heavy Test season, per the reports in the British media. Stokes is said to lead the bunch of English players who are undecided over their participation in the cash-rich league for two reasons mainly – first, considering the Tests workload and, secondly, for BCCI’s latest policy of banning players who decide to leave the campaign midway for international commitments.

Stokes last played in the IPL two years ago in 2022, wherein he represented Chennai Super Kings (CSK), though he featured in just a handful of matches and was benched for most of the season due to an injury. The left-handed batter missed last season to work on his fitness and manage his workload.

Per a report in The Telegraph, Stokes, alongside several first-team Test players, could see themselves opting out from registering their names in the auction list, the deadline of which is Sunday (November 3).&nbsp;

Meanwhile, the Stokes-led England Test team will host India for five Tests at home this summer before flying Down Under for the away Ashes, a top-tier series England is dearly preparing for a long time. For the Poms, the fitness and availability of express pace bowlers like Mark Wood and Jofra Archer are of the highest importance, and considering the tight schedule, both might join Stokes in avoiding putting their names for IPL 2025.

<h2>BCCI’s new policy adds salt to injury</h2>

Before the Indian Cricket Board and the IPL decided on launching a policy of barring players from leaving the season midway unless for health and unavoidable reasons, several overseas players over the years, English mainly, used to play for half a season or 3/4th before leaving their IPL teams for international duty.&nbsp;

Like last season, Rajasthan Royals’ star batter Jos Buttler and Kolkata Knight Riders’ Phil Salt left before the Playoffs, much to the frustration of their teams.&nbsp;

Now, with the new rule in play, none of the overseas players can do so; what they can do here is not put their name in the auction should they not commit to playing the whole season.&nbsp;

Besides, those who would not put their names in this year’s auction will be banned from IPL auctions for the next two years.

Meanwhile, Stokes was in the news recently for a robbery at his house in the UK when he was away playing in Pakistan. A gang of masked men broke into his home on October 17, when Stokes was busy playing the second Test in Multan. Besides taking away precious items like jewellery, the thieves also stole several valuable possessions from his house.&nbsp;

One person has been arrested in this matter. &nbsp;

BCCI’s new policy adds salt to injury Before the Indian Cricket Board and the IPL decided on launching a policy of barring players from leaving the season midway unless for health and unavoidable reasons, several overseas players over the years, English mainly, used to play for half a season or 3/4th before leaving their IPL teams for international duty. Like last season, Rajasthan Royals’ star batter Jos Buttler and Kolkata Knight Riders’ Phil Salt left before the Playoffs, much to the frustration of their teams. Now, with the new rule in play, none of the overseas players can do so; what they can do here is not put their name in the auction should they not commit to playing the whole season. Besides, those who would not put their names in this year’s auction will be banned from IPL auctions for the next two years. Meanwhile, Stokes was in the news recently for a robbery at his house in the UK when he was away playing in Pakistan. A gang of masked men broke into his home on October 17, when Stokes was busy playing the second Test in Multan. Besides taking away precious items like jewellery, the thieves also stole several valuable possessions from his house. One person has been arrested in this matter. (With inputs from agencies)
