Pure Skies: Air travelling in post-pandemic days in 'new normal' ways

Travelling in the times of coronavirus is very risky, and if health experts are to be believed, the style and way of travelling will have to change in the future to make sure there is minimum contact with the co-passengers.

To execute such a style of travelling, PriestmanGoode, a London-based design studio, has revealed a new design concept to support the future success of the aviation industry.

Rooms and zones

‘Pure Skies’ includes a complete review of Business and Economy Class cabins, where business class will be known as 'Pure Skies Rooms' and economy class will be called 'Pure Skies Zones'.

Personal space

Each seat will be fully enclosed with personal space and partitioned by full height curtains. The Rooms will have individual cabins in times when maintaining social distance is of utmost importance.

Removing dirt traps

The back of the seat shells will have no gaps to eliminate dirt traps. The used recline mechanism will be entirely contained within the fabric skin of the seat to avoid split lines and hard-to-clean gaps.

Synchronised in-flight entertainment

The in-flight entertainment system (IFE) will be fully synchronised with the passengers’ own devices to allow them to watch and use their own devices rather than set programmes.

Towards a sustainable future

It is not only the pandemic that haunts the future of the mankind at this point, but also the danger to the nature. 'Pure Skies' aims to contribute to a sustainable future through a design that is elegant, intuitive, easy to maintain and efficient
to manufacture.
