<p>A distressing video from Uttarakhand was posted on social media platform X Wednesday afternoon, in which a group of men are seen harassing two women late at night. The one-minute video shared on social media is from the area near Sacred Heart School in Uttarakhand’s Haldwani.</p>

<p>The video shows two women in their vehicle being chased by a group of men in a black Mahindra Scorpio. The incident took place on what seems to be a quiet side street (identified as Mukhani Road in the hill town by Prachi Joshi, who posted the video on X).&nbsp;</p>

<p>Then a second car, a Hyundau Nios i20, speeds into view from the right side. Two men are perched on the front doors; only one leg is inside the car as they sit on the doors. The two are shouting abusive comments at the women.</p>

<p>Incessant rain in the state has wreaked havoc on the residents, causing many areas to get&nbsp;waterlogged and flooded. While the water itself is a threat to the people, it also brought crocodiles into the city of Vadodara, raising alarm among&nbsp;the locals.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Several incidents have been reported of crocodiles entering residential areas near the Vishwamitri River. The river has reached a water level of 35 feet, flooding the adjacent areas.</p>

<p>"Passport Seva portal will be down for technical maintenance from 29th August 2024, Thursday 20:00 hrs IST to 2nd September, Monday 06:00 hrs IST. The system will not be available during this period for citizens and for all MEA/RPO/BOI/ISP/DoP/Police Authorities. The already booked appointments for 30th August 2024 will be suitably rescheduled and informed to applicants," a note on the Passport Seva portal said.</p>

<p>According to the External Affairs Ministry, "For rescheduling of appointments, we always have contingency plans. The maintenance activity for a public-centric service (like Passport Seva Kendras) is always planned in advance so that no inconvenience is meted out to the public. So rescheduling an appointment will not be a challenge," a source from the ministry has said.</p>

<p>Gujarat is witnessing fierce rains, and considerable loss of property has been reported from different parts of the state. A man from Vadodara is shattered after three of his cars, including an Audi, were damaged due to waterlogging caused by the rain.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The man posted pictures of his three cars on Reddit, showing them stuck in the water. The post talks about a Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, a Ford EcoSport, and an Audi A6. The Audi costs over Rs 50 lakh ($59,618), and the man says all three cars were damaged due to intense downpours.</p>

<p>The man is understandably devastated and captioned the post, "There's nothing left to live for anymore...All the 3 cars mentioned in my flair are now gone." The photos show the car almost completely drowned in water.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He further talked about the conditions in his area amid the extreme weather. He said that there was up to eight feet of water outside his house and movement wasn't possible. So nobody could come to tow the vehicles.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A chilling photo is doing rounds on social media, which features a man lying in a pool of blood at a Bengaluru airport.</p>

<p>An airport employee’s throat was slashed by a man whose wife was allegedly cheating on him with the airport staffer. The incident took place at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport on Thursday (Aug 29).&nbsp;</p>

<p>The accused was waiting at the airport for the staffer to come out, as soon as he came out, he took out his machete and slashed the man’s throat. The worker is identified as Ramakrishna and the accused name is Ramesh, as per one report in PTI.</p>

<p>"A person, identified as Ramakrishna (45), working at Kempegowda International Airport was stabbed to death by one Ramesh on suspicion of having an illicit relationship. Ramakrishna was working as a trolley puller at the airport. Ramesh arrived at the airport in a BMTC bus and had a fight with Ramakrishna. Then he took out a knife and stabbed him. Ramakrishna died of severe bleeding," the Airport Police said.</p>

<p>The government agencies and local residents are looking for the wolves in an operation codenamed 'Operation Bhediya'. Bhediya is the Hindi word for wolf.</p>

<p>A government statement said three wolves have been captured, though it is not clear how many are in the area.</p>

<p>"We have deployed 16 teams to capture the wolves, and 12 district-level officers are also stationed here. <p>Samajwadi Party (SP), an opposition party slamming the UP state government, said that the policy was aimed at stifling freedom of expression.</p>

<p>On X the party claimed that "The BJP/Yogi government has brought a provision to give lakhs of rupees of public money to those who falsely praise the government and to give jail/life imprisonment to those who raise public problems on social media"</p>

<p>"What else will the public expect from a scared government? The public will strongly oppose this BJP plan to curb freedom of expression," it added.</p>

<p>Congress party's UP social media chairperson Pankhuri Pathak also claimed that influencers criticising the government would be punished.</p>

<p>"Along with this, if social media influencers put forward any views that are not liked by the government or deemed objectionable by it, then they will be punished. That means, once again, an attempt is being made by the Uttar Pradesh Government to stifle freedom of expression," she alleged.</p>

<p>The UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government will pay up to INR 800,000 per month to influencers. However, the exact amount would depend on the influencer's followers or subscribers across various social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, X and YouTube.</p>

<p>"The category-wise maximum payout limit for payments to account holders or operators or influencers of X, Facebook, Instagram has been fixed at Rs 5 lakh, Rs 4 lakh, Rs 3 lakh and Rs 2 lakh per month respectively," said the press note.</p>

<p>"The category wise maximum payout limit for videos, shorts, podcast payments on YouTube has been fixed at Rs 8 lakh, Rs 7 lakh, Rs 6 lakh and Rs 4 lakh per month respectively," it added.</p>

<p>In a press note signed by Principal Secretary to the CM Sanjay Prasad, the UP government said: "In case of uploading objectionable content on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram and YouTube, there is a provision for legal action against the concerned agency/firm as per rules. <p>As per the UP government, the digital media policy would help create jobs.</p>

<p>It stated that under the policy, digital mediums like X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube will be encouraged to display content promoting the state government and its schemes, and achievements.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Early morning visuals showed the BJP workers taking to the streets while sloganeering against the state Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress matriarch Mamata Banerjee. The BJP workers also took to the railway tracks to purportedly disrupt the railway's functioning.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Government bus services were partially affected in Siliguri and Paschim Medinipur in West Bengal.</p>

<p>On Tuesday (Aug 27), hundreds of people were arrested and several injured in several parts of Kolkata city after the police fired tear gas shells on protesters attempting to proceed towards the state secretariat to press for Mamata Banerjee's resignation.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The rally was organised by a new student body, 'Paschimbanga Chhatra Samaj' in protest against the alleged rape and murder of a woman trainee doctor inside RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on August 9.</p>

<p>The smart city project under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP), would provide employment opportunities to nearly 10 lakh people, creating a huge scope for boosting employment.&nbsp;</p>

<p>These industrial smart cities will be aligned with the vision of 'Viksit Bharat', and built on PM Modi's Gati Shakti plan.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As per PTI, Anup Dutta has close ties with the primary accused, Sanjay Roy, who was a police volunteer at a police post near the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. This test will aid the CBI in finding whether Anup Dutta helped Roy or not. The ASI, Anup Dutta, is facing allegations that he helped the primary accused, Sanjay Roy, gain access to police headquarters and motorcycle, as he is not entitled to any of these services as a police volunteer.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Officials told PTI on Tuesday that Dutta was allegedly helping Roy, and the central agency is trying to find out whether Roy told Dutta about the crime and received any favours from him. The polygraph test will help the CBI to assess the inaccuracies and discrepancies in the statements of suspects.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Due to his freewheeling nature, Pawan was selected as the first cheetah from his batch to be released into the wild on 11 March 2023.</p>

<p>After being released into the wild, Pawan travelled large distances and covered over 300 km to the borders with Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, successfully crossing the Chambal river, Kuno officials said.</p>

<p>According to Chief Conservator of Forest (CCF) Uttam Sharma, Pawan, was traced at 10:30 am (IST).&nbsp;</p>

<p>Upon closer inspection, veterinarians found the cheetah partly submerged in water.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The front half of the body, including the head, was inside the water, according to a press release.</p>

<p>Pawan had no external injuries or marks on his body, following which the forest officials believe that he died of drowning.&nbsp;</p>

<p>There are now 24 cheetahs, 12 adults and as many cubs, in the enclosures at Kuno.</p>

<p>Pawan, originally named Oban, was among the first batch of eight cheetahs brought to India from Namibia in September 2022 under Project Cheetah. The second batch of 12 cheetahs was flown in from South Africa last February. The programme was started by the government to restore the population of cheetahs in the country.</p>

<p>Eight adult cheetahs—three females and five males—have died in Kuno so far. Four of them fell to septicemia. Seventeen cubs have been born of which 12 survived.&nbsp;</p>
