The new system, fully online, will help authorities track petrol and diesel vehicles, older than 10 and 15 years respectively, and those with outdated pollution certificates. The system will generate e-challans automatically and is expected to be fully operational before the upcoming Diwali festival season.

The new e-detection system would be fetching data from the vehicles’ FASTags as soon as they enter Delhi and cross National Highway toll plazas at borders. All details of the vehicle, including photograph and registration, will then be matched with the Vahan data base, the central repository of all vehicles which has details of the year of registration and validity of documents such as fitness, permit and pollution under control certificate.

Then, the transport department would be able to identify vehicles running without necessary permits and certificates and then issue fines under the Motor Vehicle Act.

At least 13 coaches derailed in the incident.&nbsp;

Rescue operations have begun, Thiruvallur District Collector T Prabhushankar said.&nbsp;

According to initial reports, the train crew experienced a heavy jerk on the track, causing the express train to move onto a loop line and crash into the parked goods train.&nbsp;

“Information has been received about the accident of 12578 Bagmati Express. So far, the relief and rescue team from the railway has reached the accident site and the work of evacuating passengers from all the coaches is going on. More than 90% of the passengers have been evacuated. We have not received any information of any casualty or serious injury so far,” he said.&nbsp;

He searched for her until Sunday evening when the police called him to identify a body. After confirming her identity, Alka's body was sent for a postmortem, and Ramakant complained about two men, Akhilesh and Aniket, from their village at Jasrathpur police station. Subhash provided her with a mobile phone so they could stay in contact. In December last year, Chandrakar, was put under "house detention" in Dubai and Indian probe agencies, including the ED, were "alerted".

According to sources, Indian agencies are engaging through diplomatic channels to secure the deportation or extradition of Chandrakar who is crucial to the money laundering case and police investigation related to the alleged illegal activities of the 'Mahadev Book Online' app, which is connected to political figures in Chhattisgarh and other regions.

In its initial charge sheet submitted to a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court in Raipur, the ED had named Chandrakar, Uppal, and several others.

The ED estimates that the projected proceeds of crime in this case amount to approximately Rs 6,000 crore.

Officials stated that the ED investigation revealed that the Mahadev Online Book App is managed from a central headquarters in the UAE. It operates by franchising "panels and branches" to associates, sharing profits in a 70-30 per cent ratio.

Kolkata Airport has for the first time welcomed the biggest Airbus Beluga series aircraft - Beluga XL, an official said on Wednesday (Oct 9). Beluga XL is the upgraded and bigger version of Beluga ST.

The overall length of the Beluga XL aircraft is 207 ft, its height is 62 ft and its wing span is 197 ft and 10 inches, according to the Airbus website.

"The BelugaXL performed its maiden flight in 2018 and received the type certification in November 2019 from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) airworthiness authority. This paved the way for the first BelugaXL service entry in January 2020", the website said.

Earlier the NSCBI airport in Kolkata had accommodated its ST series aircraft but it was for the first time on Tuesday night that Kolkata airport accommodated the XL series aircraft, an Airports Authority of India (AAI) spokesperson in Kolkata said in a statement on Wednesday.

The aircraft landed here on Tuesday at 10:43 pm. It arrived at the Kolkata airport from Bahrain International Airport. It was received with a water salute, the spokesperson said.

"For the first time, Kolkata's NSCBI Airport welcomed the Airbus Beluga XL, the largest in its series, carrying essential aircraft components. The flight stopped in Kolkata for crew rest, FDTL, and refuelling, as it's the only airport in Eastern India equipped to handle this aircraft," the Kolkata airport posted on X.

The aircraft originated its flight from Toulouse (LFBO/TLS) Airbus factory, and is transporting some equipment and parts to another unit based in Tianjin (ZBTJ), China, the spokesperson said.

The flight has arrived at Kolkata for crew rest, crew flight duty time limitations (FDTL), and fuel stop as Kolkata is the only suitable airport in eastern India to accommodate this type of aircraft.

It has three pilots and one&nbsp;engineer.

The Beluga XL (Airbus A330-743L) is one of the large transport aircraft designed by Airbus to carry oversized cargo, primarily aircraft components such as wings and fuselages.

The aircraft will be refuelled on Wednesday evening and the expected time of its departure is 5:50 pm. The huge aircraft is currently parked on J1 bay at Kolkata airport.

The East Asia Summit refers to the Meeting of Heads of States/Governments of the EAS participating countries which is convened annually. The EAS process was initiated in 2005 with the convening of the 1st East Asia Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

At its inception, the East Asia Summit comprised 16 participating countries, namely ASEAN Member States, Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, and South Korea. In 2011, the US and Russia joined at the 6th East Asia Summit in Bali.

At the Summit, the Prime Minister also called for a "peaceful" South China Sea and also stressed upon following UNCLOS, freedom of navigation and air space in the region.

PM Modi also called for a code of conduct in the South China Sea that doesn't impinge on the rights of others. "Peace, security and stability of the South China Sea are in the interest of the entire Indo-Pacific region," he said.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi met US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on the sidelines of the Summit and extended condolences on the loss of at least 14 lives in the US due to Hurricane Milton since Wednesday.

On Thursday, PM Modi participated in the 21st ASEAN-India Summit. His visit is significant as this year marks a decade of India's Act East Policy.

Sharing the details of PM Modi's visit to Laos, the MEA said on Thursday, "PM Modi has arrived in Vientiane, the capital of Laos. At the airport, he was received by senior ministers of the Laos government and accorded a ceremonial welcome but what was truly special was the warm and very significant, meaningful welcome that he received at the hotel."

Upon arrival, the Prime Minister was welcomed by the Minister of Home Affairs of Laos, Vilayvong Bouddakham. He was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour in the capital city of Vientiane.

Following that, he interacted with the Indian diaspora in Vientiane. He greeted Indian community members as they were excited to meet him outside the hotel in Laos.

Upon his arrival in Laos, PM Modi also witnessed an episode of Lao Ramayan - called Phalak Phalam performed by the prestigious Royal Theatre of Luang Prabang. Kolkata horror: Indian doctor on hunger strike over medic’s murder hospitalised with dehydration

India’s Pune is back in the news for another hit-and-run case, with delivery boy Rauf Shaikh becoming&nbsp;the victim this time around. An Audi driver, identified as 34-year-old Ayush Tayal, reportedly hit the victim’s motorcycle on Friday past midnight. The driver also hit and injured three people before he rammed his car into the delivery executive’s bike.

Pune police said the incident took place at around 1:00 am (local time) near the Koregaon area. The accused was later arrested.

Police said the accused first hit a two-wheeler, injuring three people, and then hit another bike that Shaikh&nbsp;was riding. After the impact, the victim&nbsp;sustained severe injuries and was later declared dead by doctors when taken to hospital.

Meanwhile, Tayal fled from the area. Police tracked him down using the surveillance camera footage from the locality. He was later arrested from his residence in the city’s Hadapsar area.

“The car driven by Tayal crashed into Shaikh’s bike. The accused fled the scene but was later detained after police used footage of CCTV cameras to identify the car and then track him down with its details,” said Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Pail.

In the immediate aftermath of the accident, ICG launched a massive search and rescue operation, during which one crew member was rescued at sea. Further, mortal remains of Commandant (JG) Vipin Babu and Karan Singh, Pradhan Navik were recovered at sea on 3rd September.&nbsp;

"In a fresh case registered in this regard, 10 Pakistani nationals, including six women, were arrested on Tuesday from Jigani jurisdiction (near Bengaluru). They have been arrested on charges of illegally staying in India on fake and forged documents. Some of them were also found to be overtsaying illegally," a senior police officer told PTI.

A few among the arrested were using Hindu names, while others had stuck to their original ones, he said.

Recently, four members of a family, who were Pakistani citizens, were arrested in Jigani. Following their arrest and interrogation, three more Pakistani citizens were arrested at Peenya here by Jigani police.
