<p>Rajinikanth’s “Kaala” has now gotten embroiled in a controversy as the film was announced banned yesterday in Karnataka. The decision came as a shock to many and mostly the Thalaiva himself who was taken aback.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The superstar, when asked for the reason behind this ban said he was clueless. Talking to the media while leaving for Tuticorin which is engulfed with violence since several days, Rajinikanth said, “I don’t know the reason for that (film being banned). I only came to know about it yesterday.”</p>

<p>He also added that hoped that the South Indian Film Chamber will step in and take all the necessary steps in the matter and help him release "Kaala"&nbsp;in Karnataka.</p>

<p>For those who are unaware, the movie has been banned in Karnataka after Rajinikanth took a controversial stand which was against the state during the Cauvery issue. During the ongoing Cauvery issue, Rajinikanth had mentioned, “Centre will face Tamil Nadu wrath if it fails to set up CMB (Cauvery Management Board) plunge.” This did not go down well with the people of Karnataka and hence, the Karnataka Film Chambers of Commerce (KFCC) has decided to ban the movie.</p>

<p>The President of the KFCC, G. Parameshwara, mentioned to the media, “As an actor, he always handled issues on Cauvery in a diplomatic way. But when he entered politics and formed a party, he made a direct attack on us, which has not gone down well with Karnataka. It is a question of our prestige and we want to keep our word. We will not allow his film to be released here.”</p>

<p>After meeting the injured in a hospital, Rajinikanth announced two lakh rupees each for the kin of victims who died in the protest.&nbsp</p>

<p>He also criticised the Tamil Nadu government over the incident as ANI quoted him saying that "I don't want to comment more on it, but the Government needs to be careful as the people are watching."</p>

<p>He added, "it was a huge mistake and a big lesson. I announce Rs 2 lakhs each for the kin of victims who died in the protest", ANI reported.</p>

<p>As many as 13 people lost their lives in an anti-Sterlite protest which turned violent after a clash broke out between the protestors and the local police.</p>

<p>The locals were protesting for the closure of the factory for 99 days when the protests took a violent turn on May 22, the 100th day of their stir.&nbsp</p>

<p>On Monday the government directed the permanent closure of the Sterlite copper smelting plant in Thoothukudi.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, the anti-Sterlite protest case has been transferred to crime branch CID &nbspafter an order by the Tamil Nadu's director general of police, TK Rajendran.</p>

<p>According to the filed charge sheet, Naveen Kumar is suspected to have met sharpshooters from North India. The meeting between the shooters and him took place in a forest area of Chamarajnagara district of Karnataka.&nbsp</p>

<p>A Kochi-bound flight from Ahmedabad with 150 passengers was diverted to the Vadodara airport today due to a medical emergency on board.</p>

<p>The flight made an emergency landing and the sick passenger, who had suffered a cardiac arrest, was immediately rushed to the state government-run Sir Sayajirao general hospital.</p>

<p>However, the passenger was declared brought dead, an airport official said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"The 38-year-old passenger had complained of uneasiness in chest following which the plane was diverted to Vadodara airport where it made an emergency landing," the official said.</p>

<p>Airport authorities had made all the arrangements including a '108 ambulance' for rushing the passenger to the hospital and provide him medical assistance at the earliest on landing of the aircraft, the official added.</p>

<p>The deceased was one of the members of a group of 35 people travelling together that included a doctor who provided medical treatment to the passenger in the aircraft, according to the official.</p>

<p>The stranded flight took off for its destination at around 1600 hours, the official added.</p>

<p>IndiGo confirmed that the flight 6E-667 was diverted to Vadodara due to a medical emergency.</p>

<p>"On expressing the uneasiness while the plane was airborne, the passenger was checked by one of the travelling doctors on board. Observing this situation, the crew immediately informed the Captain-in-Command who further alerted the Airport Operation Control Centre (AOCC) to arrange for medical assistance and to provide for an ambulance at the Vadodara airport," the airline said in a statement.</p>

<p>First-aid was provided to the passenger by our crew with the help of an onboard doctor.</p>

<p>On the landing of the aircraft, the passenger was immediately rushed to the hospital along with IndiGo staff member.</p>

<p>After a thorough examination by doctor, the passenger was declared dead.</p>

<p>We understand the gravity of such situations hence IndiGo team ensured that passenger received all necessary medical attention on board and from on-ground staff, it said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Liquor baron Vijay Mallya's lawyers have been opposing Indian Government's plea for extraditing him citing poor hygiene and overcrowding in Indian jails.&nbsp;A British court is considering India's requests for extradition of Mallya.</p>

<p>Mallya is facing charges of fraud and money laundering amounting to around Rs 9,000 crores. He was arrested by Scotland Yard on an extradition warrant in April 2017.</p>

<p>According to an MEA statement released in July 2017, Mallya is among 53 persons who face prosecution complaints from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002.</p>

<p>Mallya is absconding and currently lives in the United Kingdom.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Passengers may not get confirmed berths each time they book a train ticket, but now, thanks to a predictive service on the IRCTC website, they will get to know their chances of getting one, officials said today.</p>

<p>Come&nbsp;midnight, when the new, refurbished IRCTC website will go live, it will let the passengers know the probability of confirmation of wait-listed tickets, based on a new algorithm developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS).</p>

<p>"According to the new feature of wait-list prediction, one can predict the chances of a wait-listed or an RAC ticket getting confirmed on the basis of booking trends. We will mine our own data of passenger operations and booking patterns for the first time," a senior official in the Railway Ministry said.</p>

<p>The idea, the officials said, came from Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, who had given a one-year deadline last year to complete the process of inducting the predictive service on the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website.</p>

<p>The algorithm will take into account last 13 years' data to arrive at a "robust, workable model", the officials said.</p>

<p>While predictions have been used by private players, the officials said that the Indian Railways system would be more reliable as it would have the advantage of the database of the national transporter.</p>

<p>A user need not even log in to the new website to enquire or search for trains and check on availability of seats, while the older version only allowed access to the registered users.</p>

<p>"While booking tickets, separate cards for each passenger have been provided to fill in their details. Pre-filled particulars will ensure a quick booking experience. The user can manage the payment options by marking six banks as preferred banks under the 'My Profile' section," an official said.</p>

<p>The users can also perform multiple activities like cancellation, printing, request for an SMS, selection of an alternative train by exercising the "Vikalp" option and changing the boarding point if required.</p>

<p>Nearly 13 lakh tickets are booked on the IRCTC website every day against a reserved accommodation of 10.5 lakh berths, the officials said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Just with the recharge of Rs 144, one would be able to make unlimited calls across the country, get 2 GB data pack and send 100 SMS.</p>

<p>Apart from this, people will also get health, accidental and life insurances.</p>

<p>Speaking on the occasion, Ramdev said government-owned BSNL is a 'Swadeshi network' and the motive of both Patanjali&nbsp;and BSNL is the welfare of the country.</p>

<p>"There are five lakh counters of BSNL and from there people can soon get&nbsp;Patanjali swadeshi-samriddhi card," Ramdev said.</p>

<p>Talking about the company's motive "prosperity for charity", he further said that in addition to attractive data and call package, the card also comes with the medical and life insurance covers of Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 5 lakh, respectively.</p>

<p>However, the covers could only be availed in the case of road accident.</p>

<p>Sunil Garg, BSNL Chief General Manager, who was also present here also praised the tie-up of&nbsp;Patanjali&nbsp;and BSNL.</p>

<p>Mountaineers Kishon Tekseng and Taka Tamut from Arunachal Pradesh have achieved the rare feat of scaling Mt Everest without any sherpas, a senior state government official said today.</p>

<p>Tekseng, from Yingkiong in Upper Siang district and Tamut, who hails from Jomlo Mongku in Siang district scaled the world's highest peak on May 24, ten days after Muri Linggi of Roing who became the seventh Arunachalee to achieve the feat, state sports and youth affairs joint director Ramesh Lingi said.</p>

<p>Tekseng and Tamut reached the peak at 9 am on May 24 and unfurled the national tricolour atop it after a gruelling 13-hour non-stop climb from camp four (south column) known as Death Zone without any support staff, Lingi said.</p>

<p>"Both the climbers have inked a new record with this heroic climbing of the Mt Everest. They did not use supplementary oxygen till camp four (26000ft)," he said.</p>

<p>Almost all mountaineers take the help of sherpas while summiting the Mt Everest. But the duo decided to risk it on their own after one of their sherpas received a head injury when rocks rolled down while climbing at camp three and had to be rescued by helicopter.</p>

<p>The Sherpa was airlifted to Kathmandu in a critical condition and underwent head surgery.</p>

<p>The two climbers reached camp four with the help of one Sherpa, but the man fell ill due to high altitude sickness which prevented him to proceed further.</p>

<p>The two then set out on the last leg on their own.</p>

<p>They had been trained in mountaineering in different national institutes over the past four years and had scaled Mt Stok Kangri (20,187 ft) of Ladakh as pre-Everest expedition.</p>

<p>The other Arunachalee climbers who scaled the highest peak include Tapi Mra (2009), Tine Mena (2011), Anshu Jamsenpa (2011), Nima Lama (2011), Kalden Paljor (2011)and Tame Bagang (2013).</p>
