Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi in Delhi on Tuesday (Dec 2) said that Operation Sindoor was still underway. He said that during Op Sindoor, the deployment of the carrier battle group "forced Pakistani Navy to be in ports &amp; they never ventured out". He noted that the historic military operation by the Indian forces had an impact on the Pakistani economy with "many major shipping companies avoided Pakistani ports and increased the insurance premium". Tripathi revealed that the Indian Navy is heading into the next decade with a sharper edge at sea and a clearer sense of its strategic goals.

&nbsp;<h2>Rafale-M to join Navy fleet soon</h2>Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi said that the force expects to receive the first batch of four Rafale-M fighters for its carrier fleet by 2029. Pointing to the pace of naval expansion over the past year, he said that "since the last Navy Day," the force has commissioned one submarine and 12 warships. Schools and colleges are shut in Chennai and adjoining districts on Tuesday, as authorities drew flak for failing to predict the rains on Monday and not declaring a holiday on a day of intense rainfall. For Monday, there was no rainfall warning issued for Chennai and its adjoining districts. However, as the rains picked up unexpectedly, authorities issued an initial alert for heavy rainfall and then upgraded it to an extremely heavy rainfall alert.&nbsp;In the bygone weekend, forecasts had suggested that Cyclone Ditwah had lost intensity as it travelled along the Tamil Nadu coast, towards Chennai. However, the weather system remaining near-parallel to the Chennai coast and virtually stationary in the region has thrown a surprise.&nbsp;&nbsp;While Ditwah had weakened from a cyclone to a Deep Depression and Depression over the last 24 hours, the remnants of the system continue to yield significant amount of rainfall in Chennai and adjoining districts. According to reports, a ‘human bomb’ threat was received via email sent to the Hyderabad airport authorities. Following the message, the plane made an emergency landing at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport at 7:45 am. The plane was being checked in an isolated area in the airport premises. Security teams and emergency responders are on standby, and officials are monitoring the situation closely and investigating the matter.&nbsp;&nbsp;News agency IANS reported, quoting an IndiGo spokesperson, that flight 6E1234 from Kuwait to Hyderabad on Tuesday was diverted to Mumbai following a security threat. The airline notified authorities, cooperated with security checks, and provided passengers with updates and refreshments. The spokesperson added that the safety of the passengers, crew, and the aircraft remains its highest priority.&nbsp;“A security threat was received for IndiGo flight 6E1234 operating from Kuwait to Hyderabad on 2nd December 2025 due to which the aircraft was diverted to Mumbai. Following the established protocol, we informed the relevant authorities immediately and fully cooperated with them in carrying out the necessary security checks before the aircraft is cleared for operations,” the IndiGo spokesperson said. “We made all efforts to minimize inconvenience to our customers including offering them refreshments and sharing regular updates. The decision was taken late on Monday as a precautionary measure, as authorities prepare for dangerous weather conditions. In a statement, Chennai District Collector Roshni Siddharth Jagade said that the shutdown will cover all educational institutions in the district on December 2 because of weather alerts. To combat various types of investment-related scams and cybercrimes that affect Indian investors, the Securities and Exchange Board of India(SEBI) Chief has urged investors to verify the authenticity of bank accounts, QR codes, and UPI IDs of SEBI-registered intermediaries, before making any payment towards investments. Tuhin Kanta Pandey, Chairman, SEBI was referring to the "SEBI Check" feature on SEBI's "Saarthi" mobile app, which allows users to upload QR codes, key in UPI IDs, Bank account numbers and IFSC codes, for instant verification of the credentials of SEBI-registered entities.&nbsp;SEBI is the statutory regulatory body for the securities (stock) and commodity markets in India. It functions under the administrative domain of the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. Speaking in Chennai on the sidelines of an event hosted by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Chennai, Pandey said that SEBI is undertaking various initiatives to educate and safeguard investors. These individuals have been declared Fugitive Economic Offenders (FEOs) under the Fugitive Economic Offenders Act, 2018 (FEOA) as of October 31, 2025, Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary informed the Lok Sabha.&nbsp;The Minister stated that these 15 FEOs collectively caused a principal financial loss of Rs 26,645 crore to banks up to October 31, 2025. Vijay Mallya and Nirav Modi among 15 declared fugitives, who caused $3 billion loss to India: Govt

Mumbai: The Ahmedabad City Crime Branch, maintaining strict vigilance against narcotics in the city, recently carried out a successful operation in Vadaj, resulting in the arrest of a married couple in possession of MD (Mephedrone) drugs worth several lakhs. According to officials, the Crime Branch received credible intelligence that Kamlesh Bishnoi, originally from Rajasthan, and his wife Rajeshwari, residing at Khat Colony near Akhbarnagar Circle in Vadaj, were storing and distributing illegal narcotics from their home. Acting on the tip-off, the Crime Branch conducted a raid in the presence of independent witnesses (Panchas).&nbsp;Searches of the premises and the couple, carried out under the NDPS Act, led to the recovery of suspicious substances from the pockets of the accused and a plastic container in their house. Experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) confirmed the substances to be Mephedrone (MD). Police seized a total of 357 grams and 750 milligrams of MD drugs, with an estimated market value of approximately Rs 35,77,500. According to officials, the Crime Branch received credible intelligence that Kamlesh Bishnoi, originally from Rajasthan, and his wife Rajeshwari, residing at Khat Colony near Akhbarnagar Circle in Vadaj, were storing and distributing illegal narcotics from their home. Acting on the tip-off, the Crime Branch conducted a raid in the presence of independent witnesses (Panchas). Searches of the premises and the couple, carried out under the NDPS Act, led to the recovery of suspicious substances from the pockets of the accused and a plastic container in their house. Experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) confirmed the substances to be Mephedrone (MD). Police seized a total of 357 grams and 750 milligrams of MD drugs, with an estimated market value of approximately Rs 35,77,500. The crime took place at a working woman’s hostel on Raja Naidu Street near Gandhipuram on Sunday (Nov 30) morning, after the accused was angered over suspicion of an affair with another man.The 32-year-old man, identified as S Balamurugan from Tirunelveli, had been separated from his 30-year-old wife, Sri Priya. In a chilling move, he posted the selfie with his wife’s body on his WhatsApp status with a message, “payment for betrayal is death.”Before the murder, the two reportedly engaged in a heated argument over a phone call after Balamurugan suspected Sripriya of having an affair with one of his relatives.According to the police, Sri Priya had left Balamurugan four months ago due to differences of opinion. She moved to Coimbatore and began working in a bag retail shop. She also left their children, a 10-year-old son and a three-year-old daughter, with Balamurugan.“Priya, who was staying in a working women’s hostel on Raja Naidu Street, developed an extramarital relationship with Balamurugan’s distant relative Isakki Raja, who was married with three children. On Saturday, Balamurugan met Priya in Coimbatore, asking her to end the relationship with Raja and reunite with him to lead a happy life. Priya refused to return to their native place,” an investigating officer said, as quoted by TOI.The officer added that when Isakki Raja learned about Balamurugan’s visit, he sent an intimate photo of Priya with him to Balamurugan. This enraged Balamurugan, who once again visited Priya inebriated and demanded an explanation about the photo, which led to a heated argument between the two.“Suddenly, Balamurugan took out a sickle from his bag and stabbed her, killing her on the spot. As she lay in a pool of blood, Balamurugan clicked a selfie with the body and posted it as his WhatsApp status,” the officer told the outlet. The incident caused chaos at the women’s hostel as the residents ran out in fear.Rathinapuri police were alerted and recovered Priya's body, which was sent to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital for a postmortem. The police have arrested Balamurugan, and a case has been registered against him. The investigation is ongoing.

The crime took place at a working woman’s hostel on Raja Naidu Street near Gandhipuram on Sunday (Nov 30) morning, after the accused was angered over suspicion of an affair with another man. The 32-year-old man, identified as S Balamurugan from Tirunelveli, had been separated from his 30-year-old wife, Sri Priya. In a chilling move, he posted the selfie with his wife’s body on his WhatsApp status with a message, “payment for betrayal is death.” Before the murder, the two reportedly engaged in a heated argument over a phone call after Balamurugan suspected Sripriya of having an affair with one of his relatives. According to the police, Sri Priya had left Balamurugan four months ago due to differences of opinion. She moved to Coimbatore and began working in a bag retail shop. She also left their children, a 10-year-old son and a three-year-old daughter, with Balamurugan. “Priya, who was staying in a working women’s hostel on Raja Naidu Street, developed an extramarital relationship with Balamurugan’s distant relative Isakki Raja, who was married with three children. On Saturday, Balamurugan met Priya in Coimbatore, asking her to end the relationship with Raja and reunite with him to lead a happy life. Priya refused to return to their native place,” an investigating officer said, as quoted by TOI. The officer added that when Isakki Raja learned about Balamurugan’s visit, he sent an intimate photo of Priya with him to Balamurugan. This enraged Balamurugan, who once again visited Priya inebriated and demanded an explanation about the photo, which led to a heated argument between the two. “Suddenly, Balamurugan took out a sickle from his bag and stabbed her, killing her on the spot. As she lay in a pool of blood, Balamurugan clicked a selfie with the body and posted it as his WhatsApp status,” the officer told the outlet. The incident caused chaos at the women’s hostel as the residents ran out in fear. Rathinapuri police were alerted and recovered Priya's body, which was sent to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital for a postmortem. The police have arrested Balamurugan, and a case has been registered against him. The investigation is ongoing.

According to the police, Sri Priya had left Balamurugan four months ago due to differences of opinion. She moved to Coimbatore and began working in a bag retail shop.&nbsp;

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday (01 Dec) cautioned that the threat of Diseases and dangerous pathogens being misused by non-state actors is not a "distant possibility" or a theoretical concern, and called for sweeping reforms in the biosecurity architecture under the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC).&nbsp;"Misuse by non-state actors is no longer a distant possibility. Bioterrorism is a serious concern that the international community has to be adequately prepared for," Jaishankar said while addressing a two-day conference on '50 years of the Biological Weapons Convention: Strengthening Biosecurity for the Global South'.&nbsp;Underlining the structural Insufficiencies in the convention that has been at the forefront of Biological security, the minister stated, “It has no compliance system, it has no permanent technical body and no mechanism to track new scientific developments. The force has also intensified surveillance on multiple terrorist training camps in the region.In addition to Operation Sindoor, the BSF, in close coordination with the Indian Army, maintained effective dominance along the Line of Control (LoC) in 2025. This resulted in the successful neutralization of eight terrorists during four infiltration attempts. The BSF also conducted 22 joint operations with the Indian Army, Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Jammu &amp; Kashmir Police (JKP), and CRPF along the LoC and in the hinterland, leading to the elimination of several terrorists in North Kashmir and the recovery of a large cache of war-like stores. The recovered items included AK-47 rifles, MP5 rifles, pistols, hand grenades, UBGL and its grenades, Chinese grenades, MGL, and ammunition of various calibres.The G Branch of the BSF played a pivotal role by providing critical and timely operational intelligence on terrorist movements, activities, and cadres, significantly enhancing operational effectiveness.&nbsp;According to the BSF, In "Ops Mahadev", BSF units and specially trained frontier teams along with Ganderbal SOG/CRPF/RR had dominated the higher ridges of Northern flank of the Mahadev ranges, established temporary operating bases and had played a key role in choking the likely route of the terrorists from the Mahadev ranges towards Ganderbal and Bandipora. The joint Ops finally resulted in neutralising the group of terrorists.&nbsp;In a significant step toward gender equality and community partnership, the BSF Kashmir Frontier has deployed all-women (Mahila) troops on Forward Defended Localities (FDLs) along the Line of Control at high altitudes, as well as at round-the-clock nakas at key choke points on routes leading from the LoC. These deployments are specifically aimed at intercepting female couriers and supporters linked to terrorist organisations and smuggling networks.The Mahila troops have earned the trust and confidence of women in border villages and are playing a vital role in countering anti-national activities through close coordination with local women, thereby strengthening both security and civil-military bonds in the region.Considering the changing war tactics globally, and threats along India's borders, BSF has been working on modernisation of the force and has been inducting new technology in partnership with key defence research institutes, premier technology/engineering institutions, public and private sectors. DG BSF had recently inaugurated BSF Drone Warfare School at BSF Academy, Gwalior, to build offensive and defensive unmanned aerial capabilities of the force. This school has been training officers and troops on drone design, their weaponisation, jamming systems, Al and modern warfare techniques.
