In a shocking incident, a father has been arrested for reportedly killing his daughter after he caught her speaking to a boy in the neighbourhood.

The incident happened in northeast Delhi's Karawal Nagar on Friday when the 13-year-old's body was found more than 10 km from their house in a ditch near Ghaziabad’s Tronica City.

As per reports, the girl had stepped out of her house in Shiv Vihar to go to the market when her father, Sudesh Chauhan, saw her talking to a boy who lives in the same locality.

Reports say that the daughter had been friends with the 19-year-old boy who worked at a mobile repair shop and had been meeting him for the past six months even after her parents' objection to it.

Late Wednesday evening, the accused lodged a missing person’s complaint at Karawal Nagar police station, claiming that his daughter never reached home from the market.

Reports say that the police went through the CCTV footage and discovered that the girl was being followed by someone on a motorcycle and then travelling with a person on the motorcycle.

On Saturday, Chauhan was arrested and his motorcycle and helmet were recovered. It was found that the girl's father had the same motorcycle and helmet and had been behaving oddly.

After the last rites, Kumar was questioned at length and he confessed to the crime. He told police that he had caught his daughter with the boy several times. On March 7, he said he followed her and found her with the same boy again.

He allegedly took her to Loni and slit her throat using a kitchen knife which he had carried with him. He dumped the body and the knife in a ditch and went back home.

As per reports, the police are investigating whether other family members were involved. They have detained the girl's cousins who had accompanied Kumar to the spot where they had spotted her body.
