Four other players have been suspended, with 11 sanctioned overall, as a result of the investigation into the violence at the end of the clash between Uruguay and Colombia in Charlotte.

Uruguay are set to face Paraguay and Venezuela in their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and will look to take a giant stride towards qualification. However, they will have to do it without the services of their star players.

The punishments are open to appeal but the CONMEBOL statement did not state when the suspensions, which cover games organised by CONMEBOL and not domestic competitions, would begin.

The Swede, who managed a number of high-profile teams and took England to World Cup quarter-finals in 2002 and 2006, announced in February 2023 that he was stepping back from public life due to "health issues".

In January, he told public broadcaster Sveriges Radio that he was suffering from pancreatic cancer and that his doctor's assessment was that he had "at best maybe a year (to live), at worst a little less".

"He has for a long time fought bravely with his illness, but now it came to an end," his children Lina and Johan Eriksson said in a statement.

After he made his illness public, he received "an amazing response from friends and football fans around Europe", they said, adding that he was invited to visit teams in England, Italy, Portugal and Sweden where "they shared their love for football and for dad."

Born on February 5, 1948, in Sunne in western Sweden, Eriksson, who went by "Svennis" to Swedes, found success as a football manager after retiring from a modest career as a defender.

In 1977, he became manager of Swedish club Degerfors IF. After leading the small club to success in lower divisions, he attracted the attention of bigger clubs.

He went on to manage Sweden's IFK Goteborg before moving abroad to Benfica in Portugal and several Italian teams, including Roma and Lazio.

"Thank you for everything you have done for us, coach," Lazio said in a post to social media.

His most high-profile position was as the first foreigner to manage England's national squad.

During his spell, he took England to the 2002 World Cup quarterfinals, where they were knocked out by Brazil.

They also made the last eight four years later, when&nbsp;Portugal came out on top in a penalty shoot-out in a game where Wayne Rooney was sent off after a clash with his then Manchester United team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo.

Eriksson led England to the last eight of the 2004 Euros where Portugal also knocked them out in another penalty shoot-out.

He left the England job in 2006 after five years in charge.

"This is a very sad day. He gave all England fans such special memories," Mark Bullingham, CEO of England's Football Association, said in a statement.

"Sven will be rightly recognised and forever remembered for his significant work with the England team, and for his wider contribution to the game," Bullingham continued.

The FA will pay tribute to the former manager when England plays Finland at London's Wembley Stadium on September 10, Bullingham said.

Britain's Prince William, who said he met Eriksson several times while president of the English Football Association, said he "was always struck by his charisma and passion for the game".

After two successful seasons, the RFYC Naupang League will again span over nine months, providing a comprehensive platform for young footballers to excel in their home state. The league will operate in four districts of Mizoram—Aizawl, Champhai, Kolasib, and Lunglei—utilizing two different models of league structure to cater to various age groups and community needs.

Aizawl and Champhai: The Naupang League in these districts will feature 12 teams each in the U8, U10, U12, and U14 age groups, with each team playing 33 matches. This model will be managed by the Reliance Foundation Young Champs, providing structured matchdays and regular training exposure.

Kolasib and Lunglei: These districts will host the District League, starting with 21 matches in the initial round. Each team will play in a three-legged tournament across the U8 to U14 age groups. Following these matches, the Emerging Cup and District Cup competitions will offer up to four additional matches per team, enhancing competitive exposure.

Empowering the Community through Football - This grassroots initiative goes beyond promoting football. It aims to create a positive impact within the community by focusing on skill development, employment, and capacity building.

Training Programs: Weekly training and Emerging Talent (ET) sessions will be conducted in Aizawl and Champhai, while Kolasib and Lunglei will see two specialised training camps led by Reliance Foundation coaches.

Coaching and Refereeing Development: To build local capacity, the initiative includes a Coaching License Programme and skill development workshops over the nine-month period. Last season, 36 referees attended licensing programs and 23 gained a Level 8 License, enhancing the quality of football officiating in the region.

Foden played a key role in City winning an unprecedented fourth consecutive Premier League title last term.
