LVMH announced the news in a press release to confirm information from the specialised site Women's Wear Daily (WWD).

Angeloglou remains managing director of LVMH Fashion Group, which brings together groups of brands including Celine, Givenchy, Loewe, Kenzo, Marc Jacobs, Patou, Pucci and Rossimoda).

Bernard Arnault, LVMH CEO, said the group "would like to thank Serge for his contribution to the significant growth of Fendi since 2018."

LVMH rarely reveals the turnover of its 75 brands such as Louis Vuitton, Dior, Celine and Guerlain.

During an annual results presentation in January, Arnault indicated, however, that "Fendi is continuing its momentum".

"The next growth drivers for fashion leather goods are, in order of importance, Vuitton, Dior, Celine, Fendi, etc," commented LMVH financial director Jean-Jacques Guiony during a conference with financial analysts.

The Fendi brand was created in 1925 in Rome.

In 1965, the brand recruited Karl Lagerfeld, then a young German designer.

Princess Of Wales, Catherine is in the news again. This time for a portrait that bears no resemblance to her whatsoever but is being claimed as her's painted by a British Zambian artist. Needless to say, the portrait has elicited extreme dissatisfaction.

The portrait of Kate is not an official one and was revealed on the cover of Tatler magazine's July Issue. It depicts the princess in a white gown, a blue sash, and a yellow brooch. She wears an ornate tiara on her head. The inspiration behind the photograph seems to stem from several of Catherine's previous looks.

Who is the artist?

The portrait has been made by British-Zamibian artist Hannah Uzor. While speaking to Tatler she revealed, she "spent a lot of time looking at (Catherine), looking at her pictures, watching videos of her, seeing her with her family, seeing her in diplomatic visits, seeing her when she's rowing or visiting children in a hospice."

"It's been really interesting for me to get a sense of who she is," Uzor continued.

"The process for painting this portrait, apart from studying the photographs and the videos, is actually coming up with a sketch. So once I'm happy with a sketch and I've done a series of sketches in my sketchbook, particularly looking at her expression was really key. And so I've done several sketches trying to capture her expression. And once I'm happy with that, I can then proceed to figure out what she's going to wear.

"This particular outfit that I chose was particularly striking. It made her look very regal and very confident. And alongside of that — definitely color. Color is one of the most important things in a work of art ‘cause it can really speak to the atmosphere. And the color I chose was something that really complements Kate Middleton's green eyes."

Kate's portrait comes days after her father-in-law, King Charles inaugurated his official portrait by artist Jonathan Yeo. The King's portrait too drew a lot of flak online with many terming it 'satanic'.

The painting shows the monarch in the ceremonial red uniform of the Welsh Guards against a red background. The portrait also shows a red butterfly hovering over his shoulder. According to the artist, the tiny insect symbolises King Charles III's initiatives related to environmental protection.

In March, the Princess of Wales announced in a pre-recorded message that she had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy. She has not been seen publicly in several months.

Who's that? Portrait of Kate Middleton draws major criticism online

Saudi Arabia held its first fashion show featuring swimsuit models on Friday, an envelope-pushing step in a country where less than a decade ago women were required to wear body-covering abaya robes.

The poolside show featuring the work of Moroccan designer Yasmina Qanzal included mostly one-piece suits in shades of red, beige and blue. Most models had exposed shoulders and some had their midriffs partially visible.

"It's true that this country is very conservative but we tried to show elegant swimsuits which represent the Arab world," Qanzal told AFP.

"When we came here, we understood that a swimsuit fashion show in Saudi Arabia is a historic moment, because it is the first time to have such event," she said, adding it was "an honour" to be involved.

The show took place on the second day of the inaugural Red Sea Fashion Week at the St Regis Red Sea Resort, situated off Saudi Arabia's western coast.

The resort is part of Red Sea Global, one of the so-called giga-projects at the heart of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 social and economic reform programme overseen by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Prince Mohammed, who became first in line to the throne in 2017, has initiated a series of dramatic social reforms in a bid to soften Saudi Arabia's austere image stemming from its historical championing of a purist form of Islam known as Wahhabism.

Those changes have included sidelining stick-wielding religious police who used to chase men out of malls to pray, re-introducing cinemas and organising mixed-gender music festivals.

They have coincided with ramped-up repression targeting dissent, including from conservative clerics who might protest such moves.

Shouq Mohammed, a Syrian fashion influencer who attended Friday's show, said it was not surprising given Saudi Arabia's attempt to open up to the world and grow its fashion and tourism sectors.

The fashion industry in 2022 accounted for $12.5 billion, or 1.4 per cent of national GDP, and employed 230,000 people, according to a report published last year by the official Saudi Fashion Commission.

"It's the first time to have a swimsuit fashion show in Saudi Arabia, but why not? Seriously why not?" Mohammed said.

"It's possible and we have it here."

Raphael Simacourbe, a French influencer who also attended on Friday, said there was nothing risque to his eyes but in the Saudi context it was a major achievement.

"That's very brave from them to do that today, so I am very happy to be part of it," he said.

Saudi Arabia held its first fashion show featuring swimsuit models on Friday, an envelope-pushing step in a country where less than a decade ago women were required to wear body-covering abaya robes.

'Historic': Saudi stages first swimwear fashion show

There are many factors that contribute to wrinkle formation in your skin, such as ageing, sun exposure, smoking, dehydration, repetitive facial expressions (such as smiling, pouting, frowning, squinting), and even your sleeping posture.

The skin on your face gets crushed and squeezed far more when you sleep on your side or stomach than when you sleep on your back. Sleeping on your side or stomach causes your face to push against the pillow due to gravity. As you move about as you sleep, your skin is stretched, squeezed, and pushed in various directions, causing distortion to your facial skin.

By switching positions regularly or sleeping on your back, you can lessen the external pressures pushing on your face. By examining your face, doctors can determine which side you sleep on. Sleep wrinkles on a youthful face are temporary and go away when you wake up.

With time and repetition, transient wrinkles from sleep can turn into permanent ones. Our skin becomes less elastic (stretch) and flexible (recoil) as we age, which makes it easier for wrinkles or lines from sleeping to appear and last longer.

The pattern and pace of sleep wrinkle formation are also influenced by the length of time spent in each sleeping position, the strength of the pressures exerted externally to each part of the face, and the area of contact with the pillow surface.

Skin specialists are usually able to identify this. Individuals who prefer to sleep on one side of their body typically have more noticeable sleep lines and a flatter face on the side they sleep on.

What can you do to avoid sleep wrinkles?

Wrinkle formation can be inhibited by increasing the elasticity of the skin by skincare procedures that supplement collagen. In addition to adding moisture and stimulating the creation of collagen, hyaluronic acid can help delay the onset of wrinkles.

Using silk pillowcases can also help as they allow your skin to move and glide instead than applying pressure and friction to one area, they may also reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Both sleeping on your back and moisturising your skin just before bed will help lower your chance of developing sleep wrinkles.

Otherwise, good eating habits and lifestyle decisions, such giving up smoking, drinking lots of water, maintaining a balanced diet that includes adequate fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, healthy fats, yogurt, and other fermented foods, as well as consistent use of sunscreen, might be beneficial.

Sleep wrinkles: How to prevent them and preserve your skin

In recent years, honey has garnered attention for its potential health benefits and culinary versatility. From natural sweetener to home remedy, this golden elixir has been hailed for its supposed healing properties. However, myths and misconceptions often cloud the truth amidst the buzz surrounding honey. Let's explore more into the world of honey, separating fact from fiction to uncover its true impact on health.

Understanding the Sweetness:

Honey primarily consists of three types of sugar: glucose, fructose, and sucrose. While all three sugars contribute to honey's sweet taste, their metabolic effects differ.

Glucose: A simple sugar that provides immediate energy to the body, glucose is easily absorbed into the bloodstream.

Fructose: Found naturally in fruits and honey, fructose has a lower glycemic index compared to glucose, meaning it has a slower impact on blood sugar levels.

Sucrose: Comprising equal parts glucose and fructose, sucrose is metabolized differently in the body and can contribute to liver fat accumulation when consumed in excess.

Impact on Liver Health:

Excessive consumption of sucrose, commonly found in processed foods and sweetened beverages, has been linked to liver damage and fatty liver disease. Unlike glucose, which is readily utilized by cells for energy, excess fructose and sucrose are metabolized by the liver, leading to the accumulation of fat in liver cells. This can impair liver function over time and contribute to the development of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).

Common Myths About Honey

1. Crystallized honey is spoiled honey (Myth)

Crystallization is a natural process that occurs when glucose in the honey forms crystals, causing it to become thicker and grainier in texture. Crystallized honey is perfectly safe to eat and can be easily liquefied by gently heating it in a warm water bath.

2. Honey is a great alternative to artificial sweeteners and table sugar (Fact)

Unlike artificial sweeteners and refined sugar, honey contains trace amounts of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. While it is still high in calories and should be consumed in moderation, honey can be a healthier alternative to processed sugars when used judiciously.

3. Darker honey or white “foam” means the honey has gone bad (Myth)

The color or presence of foam in honey does not necessarily indicate spoilage. Darker hues can result from the types of flowers the bees gather nectar from, while foam may be caused by air bubbles trapped during processing. As long as honey is stored properly in a sealed container at room temperature, it does not spoil.

4. Honey is gluten-free (Fact)

Honey, being a natural product derived from flower nectar, does not contain gluten and is safe for individuals with gluten sensitivities or celiac disease.

5. It’s dangerous to use metal spoons with honey (Myth)

Using metal spoons with honey is not dangerous. While some sources claim that metal utensils can cause honey to oxidize and affect its flavor, there is no scientific evidence to support this claim. It is safe to use any type of utensil with honey.

6. Honey never goes bad (Fact)

Due to its low moisture content and acidic pH, honey has an indefinite shelf life if stored properly. Archaeologists have even discovered honey pots in ancient Egyptian tombs that are thousands of years old and still perfectly edible.

Honey and your health: Unveiling the myths and facts

More people find themselves buying items they don’t need just because they’re on sale. This form of impulse buying is called “spaving”, spending more to save more. Watch in the report to know more about this financial trap!

Spaving, Explained: The practice of spending money to save it

The first official portrait of King Charles III since his coronation has met with mixed reactions on social media. The strikingly red portrait of the British monarch in uniform was unveiled on Tuesday and led to quite a few reactions on social media. Many were quick to term it as 'satanic' and 'disturbing'.

The 230cm by 165.5cm (7.5 feet by 5.4 feet) oil on canvas has been painted by Jonathan Yeo, who previously made portraits on canvas for Charles's wife, Camilla, in 2014 and his father, Prince Philip, in 2008.

About the brand new painting

The painting shows the monarch in the ceremonial red uniform of the Welsh Guards against a red background. The portrait also shows a red butterfly hovering over his shoulder. According to the artist, the tiny insect symbolises King Charles III's initiatives related to environmental protection.

The Monarch himself unveiled the portrait. King Charles has resumed limited duties as the head of the state even as he undergoes treatment for cancer.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's charity organisation Archwell Foundation has run into troubled waters. The foundation has been declared delinquent by the California Registry of Charities and Fundraisers. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been ordered to halt soliciting or spending for the foundation.

A source close to Archewell told People magazine that the initial cheque was sent but not received. The foundation expects the issue to be quickly resolved.

On May 3, the Attorney General of California Rob Bonta issued a delinquency notice on behalf of the Registry of Charities and Fundraisers to the Archewell Foundation.

According to reports, the organisation is now "listed as delinquent with the Registry of Charities and Fundraisers for failing to submit required annual report(s) and/or renewal fees."

"An organization that is listed as delinquent is not in good standing and is prohibited from engaging in conduct for which registration is required, including soliciting or disbursing charitable funds," the letter outlines.

"The organization may also be subject to penalties and its registration may be suspended or revoked by the Registry. Once you submit the delinquent record(s), you will be notified of the amount of any late fees that are owed."

According to a source close to the foundation, the organisation filed on time, but a cheque that was sent was never received. The foundation only became aware of this when the delinquency notice was issued.

The Archwell Foundation has already issued a new check via mail and it expects the issue to be resolved at the earliest.

The Archewell Foundation is the non-profit established by Prince Harry and Meghan after they quit their roles as senior members of the royal family in 2020.

"Our mission is simple: show up, do good. We meet the moment by showing up, taking action and using our unparalleled spotlight to uplift and unite communities — local and global — through acts of service and compassion," its website says.

Prince Harry and Meghan previously said Archewell was inspired by "arche," the Greek word meaning "source of action", and predates the name of their 5-year-old son, Prince Archie. Duke and Duchess of Sussex's production company is also named as Archewell Productions.

At the time, his spokesman had said that he won't meet his father, who is undergoing cancer treatment. "In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not the duke will meet with his father while in the UK this week, it unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty's full programme," said the spokesman.

The statement said, "The Duke of course is understanding of his father's diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon."

King Charles reportedly meets David Beckham while ignoring his son Prince Harry

Mother's Day is here! It's a time to celebrate the complex yet beautiful bond mothers and daughters share. The day also offers an opportunity to explore ways to strengthen and deepen this relationship.

Despite the deep love that often exists between mothers and daughters, many find that their relationship can be challenging at times, especially during their teenage years. However, with understanding, patience, and effort, it is possible to improve and nurture this bond, creating a relationship that is both fulfilling and enriching.

WION spoke to several psychologists to understand how mothers and teenage daughters can work on improving their relationship. Scroll to find out!

Teenage years are critical as your child is shaping their self-identity. It will be natural for them to try new things, push some boundaries and feel the pressure to define themselves in peer-conformed ways. As a parent, you may find it challenging to handle their emotional changes and worry about their choices and decisions which may not align with your beliefs. As a result of your fear or concerns, you may either become too distant to avoid unpleasantness or too involved with their actions and changes.

So where does the problem lie? "The problem that I see with most parents of teens is that they are not aware of the developmental stages and challenges a teen goes through. They try to impose their opinion and viewpoint on the teen without questioning or understanding their needs and opinions. Many parents resort to threats and control or comparison. This rarely works and pushes a teen to disconnect from the parent and move more toward peer support and interaction," says Mansi Poddar, a trauma-informed Psychotherapist.

And, what's the solution? "The key to maintaining a healthy relationship is to have an open channel of communication with a non-judgemental approach. Building an understanding beyond your teen's outward changes and regularly engaging with empathy will nurture a strong relationship. Your child also sees you as their role model. They may imbibe some qualities or completely test their sense of individuality. More than the criticisms and corrections, what they need is your acceptance and positive strokes to develop healthy self-esteem," says Mimansa Singh Tanwar, Clinical Psychologist, Fortis National Mental Health Program.

Parenting teenagers demands more than just granting freedoms; it requires adept guidance and nurturing open communication. While acknowledging their need for independence and privacy, fostering a strong bond through ongoing dialogue is paramount.

Central to effective parenting of teenagers is the demonstration of trust. Recognising their inevitable missteps, it's crucial to underscore our understanding and offer unwavering support during these moments. This trust serves as the cornerstone of a healthy parent-child relationship amid the turbulent teenage years.

"Parents often stumble into the pitfall of judgment over listening. Actively valuing and respecting our teenagers' perspectives is imperative. By encouraging collaborative problem-solving, we can navigate conflicts together and foster mutual understanding," says Shweta Jhamb, Psychologist.

"For instance, when faced with a teenager's request to stay out late with friends, addressing safety concerns directly is essential. Focusing solely on the issue at hand prevents communication from veering off course. Proposing joint brainstorming sessions empowers both parents and teenagers to tackle challenges together. Moreover, instilling financial responsibility is a vital aspect of modern parenting. Teaching teenagers to discern between needs and wants equips them with invaluable decision-making skills for their future," adds Shweta.

Mothers can also use a participative approach. When setting boundaries and expectations, it is important to involve your teenager collaboratively in the decision-making processes to increase their sense of accountability and commitment. "Create opportunities for shared activities or interests. Prioritise spending quality time together, which can be enjoyable for your teenager as well as for you! Remember, a parental relationship only evolves over time, and especially during the teenage years, this requires patience, empathy and mutual respect. There doesn’t exist a perfect relationship, and conflicts are unavoidable. But you can be a role model, and foster healthy conflict resolution skills while strengthening your bond together,"
says Roshni Sondhi Abbi, Clinical Psychologist, Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram.

In essence, contemporary parenting entails a delicate balance of autonomy, guidance, and open dialogue. By prioritising trust, active listening, and collaboration, parents can navigate the teenage journey with empathy, understanding, and mutual respect.

Mother's Day 2024: Parenting mantras for moms with teenage daughters

Henna-stained hands, soulful sitar music and a musician who wants to bring mental health conversations to walk out of their closely guarded rooms and become dinner table easily-digestible topic, Rishab Rikhiram Sharma is a 26-year-old artist who recently wrapped up his two-month-long all-India tour that had started on March 15. Rishab spoke exclusively about his mentor Pandit Ravi Shankar, converging music with mental health awareness and bringing a taste of Desi in his music.

Here are the excerpts from the exclusive chat:

Q: What has the India tour been like for you? Was the response as per your expectations?

A: The tour’s been great. It’s been wonderful to travel to 11 different cities. This is the most extensive tour that we've done which went on for two months. We did some really big shows with big gatherings. Most gatherings were from 800 to 1800 capacity large and we went around holding mass meditations so imagine 1500 people breathing together, inhaling and exhaling, chanting “Aum”. I got so much love after every show. I feel blessed to be doing what I do on this level.

As for expectations, I don’t have any. I just walk on stage with a clear blank slate. I’m open to whatever experience the universe has for me.

Rishab's mentor Pandit Ravi Shankar

Q: Who can you call the inspiration behind your music?

A: I have to say it's my Guru, Pandit Ravi Shankar. Whatever I know is because of him and his disciples who taught me after his demise. They showed me his way and it was not that they just taught me his compositions, but they taught me how to think like him. Guruji always said, “Don't copy me, but think like me, understand my thought process” and I feel like I have adapted and incorporated that into my music. Probably that is why a lot of people say that my music reminds them of Guruji.

Q: You performed in New Delhi last month. Since this is where you were born, you must have a strong association with the city. Was there anything new about Delhi this time around?

A: Delhi is my city and it's the largest show that we did – for about 1800 people. I like going big for Delhi because that is the only way I am in it wholeheartedly. Since it was Delhi, I sang so much – something I don’t do often. I sang “Shiv Ke Lasho Ke Vasi” which is a bhajan that's very close to my heart and I ended the show with “Tandavam” which is my rendition of the “Shiv Tandavam Stotram”.

I wanted to end the show on a high note and everyone loved it. Everyone had their flashlights out and it was just like a rockstar moment for me.

Sitar for Mental Health Awareness

Q: Since the event spotlights mental health, what is the driving force behind fusing classic music with such an important message?

A: It was during the pandemic when I started ‘Siddhartha for Mental Health’ in hopes that it would open up more conversation about mental health and I would get an opportunity to highlight the healing properties of Indian classical music. Having gone through my own struggles with it, I often share how ‘Siddhartha’ helped me cope with my grandfather's death. I was in depression when I lost him and I didn't take it very well. ‘Siddhartha’ along with therapy and counselling helped me cope with it.

I believe that charity begins at home. You have to have those conversations at home, those awkward conversations with your parents and your siblings about mental health. That's how you can normalise it because these are the people who are going to stand by you when you step out into the world.

Q: These days there is a growing discourse on how Artificial Intelligence can replace human talent. Do you think that’s possible anytime soon?

A: I don't think AI can replace what a traditional Indian musician can do because what you hear at the concerts is a rendition and a product of pure improvisation. It's very personal. I am a collection of everything that I've learned and heard. For example, my rendition of “Raag Tilak Kamol” would differ from any other sitar player.

So it's very personal. It’s not generalised and it comes from a very soulful place so I don't think AI can get close to it.

Interview: Rishab Rikhiram Sharma on mentor Pandit Ravi Shankar and playing sitar for mental health

Georgia is a delightful country to be in. We are talking about art galleries, wine estates, freedom squares, graffiti on the walls, historic churches, modern architecture and a lot more within walking distance from each other. With immense culture, history and good food to offer, Georgia is now making it to every Indian traveller’s wishlist. Vegetarian food is a major element when Indians are travelling and Georgia has multiple vegetarian options to offer. Interestingly, most of the traditional local food in Georgia is vegetarian and also spicy, thereby fitting into the food palate of Indians perfectly.

Every street you walk on in Georgia will have exciting food options to offer, but here are my top recommendations.

Filini - Filini is an Italian restaurant with an outdoor terrace bearing stunning views of Tbilisi outside. It is located in Republic Square itself. If the weather is warm and sunny, it is perfect to sit outdoors. The view from Filini also opens to the Ferris wheel on Mtatsminda, a popular viewpoint in Tbilisi. I specifically enjoyed the pizzas and pastas at Filini, safe choices for all vegetarians and they can be made eggless too. The cocktails and the wine selection was also interesting. With a wide range of local Georgian wines on offer, including those from Kakheti region in Georgia, Filini was a delightful experience overall. The restaurant felt especially welcoming to me as an Indian since they were mindful of eggless options and the spice level of their food was also friendly to my taste palate. I will go back to Filini for the views from their terrace and their spectacular cocktails.

Republic 24 - Republic 24 is located at Republic Square where the name of the street changes often in Georgia based on the political scenario in the country. The cuisine offered here is local traditional Georgian. I tried a few Georgian dips with local bread including Pkhaili, which is made of spinach, beetroot, cabbage and walnuts. This dip was particularly flavourful with intense aromas of local herbs from Georgia. I also tried the Ispanakhis Pkhaili dip, made of garlic, cilantro and red wine vinegar. This dip had a particular yogurt-like flavor. Finally, Ajika, my favorite dip of all which is on a very spicy side. As an Indian, I rarely find anything that is too spicy for my taste levels, however, this dish did it for me. The ambience at Republic 24 is also fitting for its Georgian cuisine with graffiti art on the walls outside. The ambience inside the restaurant was rather European and unassuming, which allowed me to enjoy the food for what it was. What I loved most about Republic 24 was definitely their traditional Georgian cuisine.

Natella - Natella is another Georgian restaurant located in Tsinandali Estate in the Kakheti region of Georgia. The view from Natella is that of beautiful garden openings and Kakheti mountains in the distance. The interiors at Natella are blue in colour with large bulbs and butterfly structures. At Natella, I tried Khachapuri, a traditional cheese filled bread that tastes almost like pizza with the Ajika dip. I also tried Khinkali, traditional Georgian momos with a mushroom filling inside. It was interesting to draw parallels between Indian food and Georgian food while I tried the food at Natella. Interestingly, Khachapuri is somewhat like the Indian roti, with a cheese filling inside. Khinkali resembles the momos we eat around the Himalayas in regions like Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. The wine collection at Natella was also lovely. Personally, my favourite thing about Natella was the whole vibe inside the restaurant which teleported me to a fantasy land. It felt almost like a fairy tale. Not too far from Natella, is a tiny museum dedicated to the history of the family that owns the land on which Natella is located. That too is an interesting addition to the dining experience.

Umami - Umami is an Asian cuisine restaurant located inside the Radisson Hotel in Tbilisi. I did not expect to get vegetarian Asian food in Georgia however I fortunately chanced upon Umami. They had a selection of dimsums and sushi, including cucumber roll and avocado roll. They also had edamame pods for starters that were served with a spicy dip. Umami had a fine dine vibe with great interiors and lovely food. I wouldn’t say anything I tried at Umami was too unique or something that I couldn’t easily find in India. However, chancing upon vegetarian asian food which is my favourite cuisine, in a new country I was exploring felt warm. Normally, Indians go out to Asian restaurants to eat when it is a cause for celebration or occasion. It is not a cuisine Indians make at home. Exploring a new country was a celebratory moment for me and it called for some good Asian food. Umami did that for me.

Prince Alexander - Prince Alexander is an Italian cuisine restaurant located inside Tsinandali Estate in Kakheti. The restaurant almost looks like a cavern studded by lights from the inside making it perfect for a dinner date. Their wine collection is something sommeliers look up to globally. I tried Quarry wine here for the first time, which is made by fermenting white wine in deep claypots underground. The transformation process creates an orange coloured wine which is unique and stronger in flavor. Most people have only heard of red, white and rose wine. However, orange wine was a new addition I chanced upon trying. I also enjoyed their pastas since most of them were homemade and I cannot forget to mention their burrata salad with fresh baby tomatoes plucked from a farm nearby. In the mornings, Prince Alexander transforms into a breakfast restaurant with lovely avocado on toast and fresh juices on display.

My favourite thing about Prince Alexander was the vibe of the place which has the capacity to create strong bonds and lead to meaningful conversations. I have fond memories here since we dined here for almost 4 hours with great conversations.

While some TikTok hacks are life-changing, others are simply useless. Remember, those lip-plumping hacks that never work or the 5-minute Crafts videos with too many jump-cuts that don't make your life any easier. And, when it comes to makeup, you should always be sceptical about what you see on the screen because most makeup hacks are just too gimmicky to be true.

Recently, TikToker Aaliyah Jamil claimed to have found the best dupe for a makeup primer. She revealed that she uses butter or a butter spread before applying the foundation. She claims that using butter instead of a primer has changed her makeup game. "It gives a dewy finish, helps contour glide on the skin and feels luxe on the skin," claims Jamil.

But can you really use butter as a primer? Is it safe? And, does it give good results? Well, the simple answer is no! And, there are several reasons for the same!

First and foremost, it's just gross to apply butter on your face. The smell, the texture and the colour will definitely gross you out. It will feel heavy and sticky on your skin and will be difficult to wash out.

Secondly, butter has food preservatives, emulsifiers, salt and several other ingredients that are not skin-safe. It can clog pores and cause breakouts and irritation.

Now coming to the results, your foundation base may look patchy if you use butter as a primer. The makeup products that you apply on your skin may also fade away quickly or transfer to your clothes.

You can, however, use butter as a makeup remover. It will work as a cleansing cream on your skin and will help you get rid of waterproof mascara, matte lipsticks and dark eyeshadows.

If you do not wish to use a primer or you don't have one, you can use aloe vera gel or moisturiser as a primer. You can also apply coconut oil to your face to get a dewy finish. But butter, I would advise you to stay away from it.

Summers are tough on the skin if you happen to stay in a tropical country where you have to deal with excessive sweating, harsh sun and changing weather. They say your skin is the truest reflection of your inner happiness. If you stay stress-free, eat healthy and do basics in skincare, that glow from within is easily doable.

To make it easy for our readers, we got in touch with a few beauty and skin specialists who break it down what it takes to achieve holistic beauty without the 15-step beauty-care regime that is being promoted by beauty and lifestyle influencers. They spoke about integrating dermatology and wellness for fuss-free summers, winters or any other season you find trouble adjusting to.

Dr. Dinyar Workingboxwalla, a well-known Skin Specialist and Co-Founder of Beauty By BiE said that integrating dermatology and wellness is paramount for achieving holistic beauty. Our skin reflects our inner health, and by combining dermatological expertise with wellness practices, we can unlock the true potential of radiant skin.

Taking care of skin the right way:

• Start with a balanced diet rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and omega-3 fatty acids to nourish skin from within.
• Practice stress-relief techniques like meditation or yoga to maintain hormonal balance, reducing breakouts and inflammation.
• Regular exercise boosts circulation, promoting a healthy glow.
• Hydrate adequately and protect skin with sunscreen to prevent premature ageing.
• Incorporate dermatologist-approved skincare products tailored to your skin type and concerns.
• Prioritise quality sleep to allow skin cells to regenerate optimally.

The expert added that as a practitioner of holistic well-being and an advocate for clean beauty, “I am dedicated to empowering individuals to embrace this holistic approach for lasting beauty and well-being.”

Dr Shraddha Deshpande, Aesthetic- Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, at Wockhardt Hospitals Mumbai Central said, "Integrating dermatology and wellness is about nurturing both the body and mind for holistic beauty. Embrace a colourful, diverse diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables while avoiding processed foods, hydrate with ample water, and prioritise quality sleep and regular exercise. Cultivate mental well-being through stress management and burnout prevention techniques.”

“By making lifestyle changes and following a simple, consistent skincare routine, we empower ourselves to achieve not only radiant skin but also overall improved health and anti-ageing benefits. Remember, what we nourish inside reflects outside, embodying the harmony of inner and outer wellness,” she added.

With decades of experience in the skin department, Dr Manu S. Walia, Head of Dermatology, Myrah Derma Med pointed out that keeping so many lists in mind can be pretty daunting for someone who is just starting off. The expert said that you can nurture the mind and body entirely with just some basic changes to your lifestyle.

Points to keep in mind while aiming for healthy skin:

- A personalised treatment plan from a dermatologist, catered to fit your skin type and skin concerns, can address both skin issues and overall health and wellness.
- As a daily practice, it is important to wear SPF sunscreen every day, no matter the weather, even when indoors. For a dermatological solution, medical peels containing exfoliants like AHAs and BHAs can give you bright, clear and even-toned skin.
- By combining a balanced diet, an exercise routine, and a consistent skincare routine into your daily life, you can ensure that you are working towards holistic beauty as an end goal, contributing to your overall good health and looks.

Healthy and glowing skin is not a day’s job. It requires patience, analysis of your daily schedule, how much you prioritise your health (both mental and physical) and if you stay happy on most occasions.

King Charles gives new titles to William and Kate; here's what it means

As civilisation boomed, our reliance on resources led to widespread deforestation with over 45% of trees cleared all over the world. As we look around, we see tall buildings where trees once thrived. As we observed World Earth Day on April 22, it’s imperative to take tangible steps to make our planet a better place. After all, we need to leave behind a green legacy for our future generations.

Among the many steps we can take, tree plantation stands out as a necessary measure to restore and preserve the well-being of our planet.

The Carbon Conundrum: Trees as Climate Warriors

Unprecedented challenges such as erratic weather patterns and natural disasters are no mere coincidences. They reveal part of a larger problem - climate change. Trees play a critical role in combating the dangerous effects of climate change by acting as carbon sinks. They store carbon from the atmosphere in their stems and roots, effectively mitigating greenhouse gases which trap heat and worsen global warming. With deforestation rates soaring, preserving existing forests and embarking on ambitious tree plantation initiatives are imperative steps in curbing carbon emissions and safeguarding our planet's climate stability.

‘Planet vs Plastic’: A Battle We Can’t Ignore

This Earth Day’s theme, ‘Planet vs Plastic’ also highlights the urgency to act against plastic pollution. Trees’ roots capture and trap the microplastic in soil preventing them from contaminating the groundwater. Similarly, mangroves are known to absorb the microplastic content in the water. A lush forest cover would intercept plastic debris before it reaches oceans and other water bodies, thereby saving countless marine creatures from getting entangled.

Forest produce also provides sustainable alternatives to plastic-based products, such as wood, bamboo, and other plant-based materials. This reduces the demand for plastic and eases pressure on waste management systems. Fight against plastic pollution by planting trees.

The Ozone Shield: Trees as Natural Protectors

Moreover, trees play a pivotal role in safeguarding the delicate balance of the ozone layer. Just as trees offer shade and shelter, the ozone layer also acts as a protective shield for our planet. Many refer to it as the Earth's natural sunscreen, shielding us from the harmful effects of ultraviolet (UV) radiation emitted by the sun.

However, human activities, such as the release of ozone-depleting substances, have led to its depletion, heightening the risk of skin cancer, cataracts, and other health hazards. It also negatively affects crop yields and marine life.

Trees, with their leafy canopies, act as natural UV filters, intercepting and absorbing a significant portion of UV radiation before it reaches the Earth's surface. By fortifying the ozone layer, trees offer a vital line of defence against the adverse effects of prolonged sun exposure, ensuring the well-being of both ecosystems and human populations.

Prioritising Tree Plantation Initiatives

In light of these issues, there’s no better time than now to prioritise tree plantation initiatives as integral components of broader environmental conservation efforts. Organisations like Grow-Trees play a key role in carbon sequestration. Over the years, they have planted more than 19 million trees across India, Tanzania and Uganda, effectively absorbing ~390 million kg of carbon per year. Their online tree plantation platform allows users to plant trees from the comfort of their home. This encourages collective action from all ends.

With deforestation rates soaring, preserving existing forests and embarking on ambitious tree plantation initiatives are imperative steps in curbing carbon emissions and safeguarding our planet's climate stability. ‘Planet vs Plastic’: A Battle We Can’t Ignore This Earth Day’s theme, ‘Planet vs Plastic’ also highlights the urgency to act against plastic pollution. The Ozone Shield: Trees as Natural Protectors Moreover, trees play a pivotal role in safeguarding the delicate balance of the ozone layer. Prioritising Tree Plantation Initiatives In light of these issues, there’s no better time than now to prioritise tree plantation initiatives as integral components of broader environmental conservation efforts. How often have we heard the debate of equity better than equality? But when it comes to access to medical health, what do you think we deserve? With different body physiology that goes beyond the surface-level understanding of the two different biological genders of the world, there is a need for fair health for all. But that would mean recognising we are different, our bodies need different things as multiple specialties of doctors emphasise that women’s mental health and physical health is more sensitive to their surroundings in comparison to men.

From psychological well-being to immune response to diseases, external support and more, both men and women need different things for a healthy life and we try to decode what that is! We spoke to different fields of doctors who stressed on identifying problems and working on an informed solution.

Dr. Mohammed Shahid Ali, Manipal Hospital Old Airport Road, Bengaluru said that when it comes to fair health for all, women need a special mention as there are multiple areas to address. “From diseases specific to women like breast and ovarian cancers, women also experience different mental challenges like postpartum depression, anxiety and stress at a very young age. Bone health plays a vital role as there is higher risk of osteoporosis among women in postmenopausal women owing to lesser oestrogen levels and poor exposure to sunlight which is a source of Vitamin D.”

“Similarly, risk of autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, lupus etc. is high among women for unknown reasons. Urinary tract infections and urinary incontinence (leak)are slightly higher among women due to differences in the anatomy. Also, sexual health is one more aspect which is often neglected.”

He said that raising awareness about gender specific health issues can help to streamline screening, diagnosis and treatment protocols in an efficient way.

Men are weaker than women

Meanwhile, Dr. Mohammed Afzal Siddiqui, Manipal Hospital Goa, wants the world to know that men are the weaker sex even though they are physically built stronger. He said, “Women tend to live longer than men and are more likely to suffer from diseases like chronic pain, UTI’s, migraines, multiple sclerosis, osteoporosis, mental health disorders etc. Men live shorter and are more likely to develop chronic diseases and at a younger age than women."

"Men are more likely to develop cardiovascular diseases, Parkinson's disease, gout, renal stones, pancreatic cancers etc. Of the diseases that affect both genders but differently are heart attacks, sexually transmitted infections, migraines, hair fall, acne, mental health disorders etc. e.g. women are more likely to die of a heart attack than men, migraines are 3-4 times more common in women, depression, stress anxiety disorders are more common in women.”

There is enough research that shows that biological and social factors impact women's health differently from men, particularly in conditions like diabetes and heart disease. These unique challenges are influenced by biological, social, and environmental factors.

Dr. Haroon, KMC Hospital, Mangalore said that women of colour face additional health disparities, including higher risks of cancer, cardiovascular disease, HIV infection, and disability due to the intersectionality of gender and race/ethnicity.

He said, “Men and women exhibit differences in psychological well-being, with men scoring higher on physical self-concept and cognitive flexibility, while women show higher expression of affect and somatic symptoms. Gender differences are apparent in psychological well-being; men tend to have higher scores on physical self-concept and cognitive flexibility, while women exhibit greater expression of affect and somatic symptoms.”

Women suffer more from mental health issues

The problem perpetuates amongst women more because they internalise it more than men usually. Mental health differences arise because women don’t talk about it much which then leads to chronic debilitating conditions. Men meanwhile have a higher prevalence of externalising disorders and life-threatening conditions.

Women live longer than men

According to several reports women generally live longer than men, but the health outcomes between the sexes vary depending on biological, environmental, and behavioural factors. Men have higher mortality rates but fewer problems with daily living activities, while women experience more inflammatory-related diseases.

Dr Sumana Y, Gleneagles Hospitals Bengaluru added that men and women’s health problems differ not just due to physiological differences but also due to psychological and social factors.

The expert said that the term "health problems" don’t just point towards the disease states, but also includes issues arising out of differences in health availability, accessibility and health seeking behaviours. All these factors have a role to play in creating differences in health problems in men and women.

Prince Harry, the son of King Charles III and fifth in line to the British throne, has formally confirmed he is now a U.S. resident. Four years after Harry and his American wife, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, decamped to a villa in Southern California, a travel company he controls filed paperwork this week informing British authorities that he has moved and is now “usually resident” in the United States.

The formal acknowledgement underscores the prince’s increasing estrangement from Britain after he and Meghan walked away from royal duties to pursue lucrative media deals in America. Since then, Harry has repeatedly criticized the royal family, including allegations of unconscious racism that were included in a Netflix series and the prince’s autobiography, Spare.

The paperwork was filed by Travalyst Ltd, a company at least 75% owned by Harry and which was founded in 2020 to “to promote global awareness of the importance of sustainable tourism.” The documentation was received Monday by Companies House, the government agency that oversees the incorporation of U.K. companies.

The filing further separates Harry from his role as one of the king’s counsellors of state — members of the royal family who can be deputized to carry out the duties of the monarch if he is unwell or out of the country.

While Harry formally remains a counsellor of state, the crown informed Parliament in 2022 that “in practice” only working members of the royal family would be called upon to fill in for the monarch.

Although Harry and Meghan, also known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have put down roots in the wealthy enclave of Montecito, where they are raising their young son and daughter, Harry is also facing scrutiny about his U.S. residency.

The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, has questioned the Department of Homeland Security’s decision to grant Harry a U.S. visa following admissions of drug use that were included in “Spare.”

The foundation, which has asked a judge to force the department to release Harry’s immigration file, argues that the prince either lied on his visa application or was given special treatment because a history of drug use would normally disqualify an applicant from being granted a visa.
