The main issue is charging: Availability of enough charging stations along the routes, compatibility issues of different technologies adapted by charging stations and plug points in the cars, fire hazard, and the possible time taken for charging.

Uncertainty over where and whether drivers will find a charging station when they need one continues to be a major barrier to the widespread adoption of electric vehicle mobility. Another important concern for the drivers is battery life -how long will it last? Or, how long will it take to charge?

It is widely assumed that charging is more expensive than gasoline.

Many have come up with solutions to these problems. In 2021, an Israel-based company claimed to have batteries that could be charged in five minutes. US researchers recently came up with a design for batteries to be charged in 10 minutes.

In 2021, StoreDot claimed that they had developed a new lithium-ion battery that could be charged in five minutes. The company is known for its extremely fast-charging batteries in mobiles, drones, and scooters to showcase its technology to carmakers. The firm hopes to be able to charge an automobile battery of 100 miles of range in five minutes using the current infrastructure for charging.

Recently, US researchers have come up with a solution to the charging time duration, claiming that they have designed a superfast method that can fully charge several EV batteries in 10 minutes or less without causing any damage to the vehicle. They said that it needs to be checked for balance to charge the lithium-ion batteries that power automobiles.

One option to charge the car faster is to modify the charging protocol in a way that maximises charging speed while protecting the various automotive battery designs currently in use.

Eric Dufek, a researcher, said, "We've significantly increased the amount of energy that can go into a battery cell in a short amount of time."

"Currently, we're seeing batteries charge to over 90 per cent in 10 minutes without lithium plating or cathode cracking," IANS quoted him as saying.

The researchers said that the model will be used by them to create even better procedures and assist in the creation of batteries for better charging.

Fast charging batteries are in production and might be in the market in the coming years. 
 
Meanwhile there are other innovations already around, like moving robo charging stations, attempts to have chargers in parking lots and malls and so on.

Till charging technologies become standardised and ubiquitous, adoption of electric vehicles will still be a long haul.

The Biden administration has ended a Trump-era policy requiring asylum seekers to wait in Mexico for hearings in US immigration courts. The move from the Department of Homeland Security came on Monday, hours after a judge overturned a December decree ordering the reinstatement of the so-called 'Remain in Mexico' policy introduced by President Joe Biden's predecessor Donald Trump.

The date of the policy's removal has been in question ever since the Supreme Court decided on June 30 that the Biden administration may stop the policy. Officials from DHS were quiet, claiming that they had to wait for the court to confirm the decision. The Supreme Court certified its ruling last week, AP reported.

According to a statement by DHS, the programme unwound quickly and systematically. There will no longer be any open applications, and those who show up in court won’t be sent back to Mexico when their next hearings are held in the US.

During the first few months of the Biden administration, many individuals were permitted to continue their cases. Almost 5,800 people were affected by the policy between December and June. The majority of people are from Cuba, Colombia, and Venezuela.

An adviser to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has said that Iran possesses the technical ability to create a nuclear bomb. But the Islamic Republic has not yet made the decision whether to do so, Kamal Kharrazi said on Sunday (July 17), in a conversation with Al Jazeera news channel. He was speaking after Joe Biden’s four-day visit to Israel and Saudi Arabia came to a close, during which the US president promised to prevent Iran from ‘acquiring a nuclear weapon.’ Kharrazi said, “In a few days, we were able to enrich uranium up to 60 per cent and we can easily produce 90 per cent enriched uranium ... Iran has the technical means to produce a nuclear bomb but there has been no decision by Iran to build one."

In exchange for respite from economic sanctions, Iran had earlier agreed to limit its uranium enrichment activities, which lead to the development of nuclear weapons, under the terms of the 2015 nuclear agreement, which Donald Trump abandoned when he was US president, in 2018. Tehran began breaking these nuclear constraints of the agreement in response to Washington’s exit and its reimposition of severe sanctions.&nbsp;

After 11 months of indirect negotiations between Tehran and Biden’s administration in Vienna, the general framework of a resurrected deal was virtually agreed upon in March. Since the nuclear agreement is a political understanding and not a legally binding treaty, Biden is unable to make this commitment.&nbsp;

As per Kharrazi, the potential of any agreement is destroyed because the US has not given assurances about upholding the nuclear deal.

Iran has the technical means to produce a nuclear bomb but there has been no decision by Iran to build one." In exchange for respite from economic sanctions, Iran had earlier agreed to limit its uranium enrichment activities, which lead to the development of nuclear weapons, under the terms of the 2015 nuclear agreement, which Donald Trump abandoned when he was US president, in 2018. Tehran began breaking these nuclear constraints of the agreement in response to Washington’s exit and its reimposition of severe sanctions. Iran ‘capable of building nuclear bomb’, says advisor to Supreme Leader

The European Union is investing €8 million in a safe bunker in Brussels so that leaders can discuss their sensitive topics without any eavesdroppers. Around 100 persons may be seated in the chamber, including 34 leaders, their 34 note-takers, protocol, technical, and culinary staff. The secure area will also be used for discussion by ambassadors and senior EU officials. The bloc currently has 27 members that may increase in the future, as reported by EUobserver.

Additionally, to “mitigate the risk of exploitation of compromising emanations,” or the electro-magnetic and radio waves produced, both the conference space and booths will be surrounded by a Nato-certified insulation cage. The area will be unplugged, furnished with a big screen conferencing system to 30 secure interpretation booths.&nbsp;

The bunker will offer a properly fixed decorum like flags, but no flowers or any other objects. A sufficient level of comfort will be provided to the VIPs like furniture and seats, the memo added.&nbsp;

The European Union Council would house the envisioned bunker. By 2024, the facility will be constructed in Brussels’s EU Council building, which already serves as a place for meetings. Although the precise place has not been chosen, officials are searching for a place close to make it easier for leaders to move back and forth.&nbsp;

The atmosphere of a hot, puffy gas giant planet orbiting a far-off Sun-like star has been observed by NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope to bear the unique signature of water as well as signs of clouds and haze. There are more than 5,000 known exoplanets in the Milky Way, including WASP-96. it is a type of gas giant that has a direct counterpart in our solar system and is about 1,150 light-years away in the southern-sky constellation Phoenix.&nbsp;
