Cricket South Africa and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have agreed on a three-match T20I series as the Proteas gear up to host India at the end of August. However, the series would require government regulations to ease on a bit to allow the fixtures, which will be hosted by South Africa, to go ahead.&nbsp;

The plan of a three-match T20I was discussed between Cricket South South Africa’s director of cricket Graeme Smith and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly during a CSA executive trip to India in February and was finalised via teleconference on Wednesday as both the cricket boards look to resume cricket.

"India wants to honour its agreement. If it's postponed, maybe a bit later," Faul said a during a virtual press conference on Thursday.

"We've had a very good discussion with them (BCCI)," the CSA executive added.

A BCCI official on condition of anonymity said that the possibility is "there" provided they get an all clearance from the government of India.

"First, we have to get the players for a conditioning camp in a green zone. Obviously, if things are on track, we would play in South Africa," the official told PTI.

However, with both South Africa and India still under lockdown, the boards could face plenty of challenges. If the positive cases in both the countries continue to increase significantly, the series in August looks unlikely to go ahead.

Hosting India would generate good profits for Cricket South Africa and be of immense help to its financial, moreover, at a time when the board is looking at massive losses.&nbsp;

Even though South African cricket has not been affected much by the pandemic, the future projections look worrisome for the board. Hosting India could solve a lot of problems and put them in a stable condition financially.

Given the unpredicted times, CSA acting CEO Jacques Faul said the BCCI expressed “willingness” to play matches later in the South African summer.&nbsp;

"We're seeking via Sascoc an audience with the sports minister to be given approval to, if needed, play behind closed doors. This will relate specifically to the potential of an incoming Indian tour," said Faul.

"We're going to be very innovative because it's an important tour for us. As I've stated before, we're very encouraged by India's willingness."

If the series goes ahead, CSA will look to create 'bio-bubble' similar to what ECB is planning to do.&nbsp;

"It will be a sanitised cricket biosphere with strict entry standards and limited movement out of this cordon, and this will require regular testing of all those in the bubble," Dr Shuaib Manjra, CSA's chief medical officer, said. "We will create a cordon sanitaire, where people will not be allowed to leave or come in unless strict criteria are met."

“IPL is one of the greatest engagers. More people watched the IPL last year than those who voted for general elections. For sponsors, cricket is a leader and it will lead the way. The recovery will be sharper than a V-shaped recovery,” said Johri at a webinar.

Johri further said that cricketing activities in India can only be held after monsoons while adding they will be guided by the government guidelines as to when and how cricket can resume in the country. However, he accepted that scheduling IPL 2020 in October-November won’t be an easy task as a lot of factors like 14-day quarantine period, training regimes, the calendar will have to be kept in mind.

“We will be guided by government guidelines. Our advisory says: IPL is suspended till further notice. We are engaging with various agencies. After the current phase of lockdown ends, there is the monsoon. Cricketing activities can start only after the monsoon. By then, hopefully, things will improve.”

The team said it had asked the police to investigate the provider.

The K-league's new season kicked off without spectators on May 8 after being postponed for more than two months because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Clubs have used cardboard cutouts, placards and banners to fill up the stands, but fans were not impressed with the sex dolls.

"Lie, lie, lie," Grant said of the allegation. "If MJ had a grudge with me, let's settle this like men. Let's talk about it. Or we can settle it another way.&nbsp;

"But yet and still, he goes out and puts this lie out that I was the source behind it (The Jordan Rules)."

Although Grant admitted to being "great friends" with the book's author, Sam Smith, he insisted he had always protected the "sanctity of that locker room."

"I would never put anything personal out there," Grant said.

Grant meanwhile also criticised Jordan's conduct as a player with younger members of the Bulls dressing room accusing him of being physically and verbally abusive to team-mates.

One segment of "The Last Dance," which was made with the involvement of Jordan's own production company, dwells on the physical altercation between Jordan and former team-mate Steve Kerr, when the two came to blows during a practice.

Grant said he had refused to be intimidated by Jordan.

"(Jordan) felt that he could dominate me, but that was sadly mistaken," Grant said.&nbsp;

"Because whenever he went at me, I went at him right back. But in terms of Will Perdue, Steve Kerr and the young man, Scott Burrell, that was heartbreaking. To see a guy, a leader, to go at those guys like that.

Grant slams Jordan over 'Last Dance' claim

Italy's Serie A teams have been given the green light to resume group training but will have to wait until May 28 to know whether the season can resume, Sports Minister Vincenzo Spadafora said on Tuesday.

Spadafora told Italian television that government scientists had accepted the Italian football federation's (FIGC) revised health protocol.

"The Scientific Technical Committee have approved the FIGC protocol for the resumption of team training," Spadafora told Rai.

"It is excellent news, collective training can now resume."

Spadafora said he has scheduled a meeting on May 28 with FIGC president Gabriele Gravina and Lega Serie A chief Paolo Dal Pino to decide on the return to competition.

"We will then decide if and when Serie A will restart," he said.&nbsp;

"The important thing will be to restart with the firm intention of completing the championship, then the federations will decide the modalities and formats to be adopted."

The minister said that a controversial measure of isolating team members for two weeks at club facilities to limit the risk of contagion has been withdrawn.&nbsp;

If a player tests positive he will be quarantined for two weeks, while the team will be placed in isolation, and monitored, but can continue to train together.

FIGC president Gravina welcomed a "decisive step on the path of restarting football in Italy".

Gravina said that FIGC Medical Scientific Commission were now working on the protocol for the return to competition.

The Italian season has been on hold since March 9 amid the pandemic which has killed more than 32,000 people in Italy.

Serie A teams have been training individually since May 4, with a government decree suspending all competition until June 14.

Italian players' union president Damiano Tommasi said Tuesday that footballers would need at least a month training before returning to competition.

"Even if some talk about six, at least four weeks would be needed to avoid injuries,"&nbsp;said the former Italy and Roma midfielder.

Cummins said applying sweat or any external substance like wax on the ball could be an alternate option if usage of saliva is banned.

The head of global players' union FIFPro has given his backing to footballers who do no want to return to training because of coronavirus fears and cautioned that it would be "inhumane and unacceptable" if they were to be punished for taking such a stance.

Jonas Baer-Hoffmann's comments come after Troy Deeney of English Premier League side Watford refused to restart training ahead of a possible resumption of the season because he does not want to put his young child, who has breathing difficulties, at risk of catching the virus.

Deeney has also cited fears his family could be in danger because of figures that show black and ethnic minorities in the UK -- which has the highest recorded death toll in Europe -- are more likely to become seriously ill with COVID-19.

Deeney is "a player who has very legitimate concerns and wants to protect his family", Baer-Hoffmann said in a conference call with reporters on Wednesday.

"If these players are being pressured or potentially facing disciplinary actions, we feel that is very much unacceptable.

"The idea that somebody may be punished in a pandemic for trying to protect his family's health is inhumane and unacceptable."

However, there is no suggestion that Watford are planning to take disciplinary action against Deeney.

Several players in England have voiced concerns about returning to training, even in small groups.

Watford were among the Premier League clubs affected by six positive tests for the virus out of a total of 748 tests conducted on Sunday and Monday.

England defender Danny Rose, on loan at Newcastle United from Tottenham Hotspur, said players were being treated like "lab rats" as the league attempts to get going again.

"No system can actually exclude the risk of infection, so it is a question about the probability by which you minimise that risk and many of the systems that we are seeing and reading about -- not particularly England -- still leave many, many gaps and many risks," Baer-Hoffmann said.

"If the players in England -- of which Danny Rose is a part -- would like stricter rules then that needs to be discussed."

Baer-Hoffmann admitted that plenty of players around the world were keen to get back playing despite the potential risks involved, but said FIFPro recommended that players undertake three to four weeks of training before beginning matches again due to the risk of injuries.

The financial consequences of not restarting would be potentially very serious for clubs, although players at the top level in England are in a better position than some of their counterparts around the globe.
