<p>A senior Olympics official has warned that holding the postponed Tokyo Games next year faces "real problems", with even a vaccine unlikely to stave off the threat of the coronavirus.</p>

<p>John Coates, the International Olympic Committee's pointman for Tokyo 2020, indicated that officials would start deciding in October if and how the pandemic-hit Games could go ahead in July 2021.</p>

<p>He told a roundtable organised by Australian media giant News Corp that Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has been clear the Tokyo Olympics could not be delayed a second time.</p>

<p>"We can't postpone it again and we have to assume that there won't be a vaccine or, if there is a vaccine, it won't be sufficient to share around the world," he said.</p>

<p>Without the safety net of a widely available vaccine, there could be enormous challenges in screening tens of thousands of people from all corners of the world, he said.</p>

<p>"We've got real problems because we've got athletes having to come from 206 different nations," said Coates.</p>

<p>"We've got 11,000 athletes coming, 5,000 technical officials and coaches, 20,000 media, we've got 4,000 working on the organising committee there at the moment, there will be 60,000 volunteers coming," he said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"There's a lot of people."</p>

<p>Coates said if there are signs the pandemic is contained, even if not eradicated, by October, officials will start preparing "the different scenarios by which the sport could take place".</p>

<p>"Do we quarantine the Olympic village? Do all athletes when they get there go into quarantine? Do we restrict having spectators at the venues? Do we separate the athletes from the mixed zone where the media are?"</p>

<p>Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson insists he has felt "very safe" since his club returned to training amid the coronavirus crisis this week.</p>

<p>Jurgen Klopp's side began socially-distanced training in small groups on Wednesday as the Premier League steps up its bid to resume the season in June.</p>

<p>Although all players and staff at top-flight clubs have been tested for the virus, Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante and Watford striker Troy Deeney opted against returning to work because of fears they would not be safe.</p>

<p>However, England midfielder Henderson is sure everything has been done to keep players as safe as possible at Liverpool's Melwood training base.</p>

<p>"I feel very comfortable with all the measures that the Premier League and the club have put in place, along with my team-mates," Henderson told Sky Sports on Thursday.</p>

<p>"The testing, the temperature control, the social distancing and disinfecting everything has been at a really high level since we've been back. They're doing everything they can to make it as safe as possible.</p>

<p>"We do feel comfortable and that's why we're here training. I feel very safe at the training ground, otherwise I wouldn't be here."</p>

<p>The Bundesliga returned to action last weekend and Henderson is hopeful contact training and then a resumption of Premier League games will follow.</p>

<p>"We want to follow the right protocol and follow the next steps. We want to start bigger group training and then hopefully start playing games again soon rather than later, whenever it's safe to do so," he said.</p>

<p>Henderson said he understood the decision of players at other clubs who have stayed away.</p>

<p>"I fully respect their opinion. Everyone is in a different situation at home and, ultimately, if you don't feel comfortable you shouldn't feel forced or pressured to come into work," he said.</p>

<p>"I fully respect the opinion of any players who don't feel comfortable yet. If any of my team-mates felt like that I would respect and support them."</p>

<p>With Liverpool 25 points clear at the top of the Premier League before the March shutdown, Henderson has been motivated to keep as fit as possible during the lockdown.</p>

<p>"My mindset hasn't changed from where we left off. I always felt the season needed finishing whenever it was safe to do so," he said.</p>

<p>Officials from touring teams have made optimistic remarks about wanting to come to England, subject to health advice, and Woakes said: "First and foremost we just hope there's going to be some form of cricket.</p>

<p>"Obviously it's going to look different, with it being behind closed doors."</p>

<p>ECB chief executive Tom Harrison has warned a cancelled season could cost his organisation £380 million ($463 million).</p>

<p>But the Singapore Open and Badminton Asia Championships are on a list of 10 cancelled events, while another five have been suspended.</p>

<p>BWF secretary general Thomas Lund cautioned that there were no guarantees the new-look tour would go ahead as planned.</p>

<p>"It is a condensed calendar but we are confident this provides the framework to allow us to start again when it is safe and logistically possible," Lund said in a statement.</p>

<p>"At this point in time, it is difficult to predict when international movement and entry restrictions will be lifted by individual countries and territories, but we will not resume competition unless it is absolutely clear that is safe to do so."</p>

<p>The BWF suspended all tournaments in mid-March, in line with other sports as the pandemic took hold.</p>

<p>The Thomas and Uber Cup world team championships remain on their revised schedule of October 3-11 in Denmark.</p>

<p>CSA’s Director of Cricket Graeme Smith and Chief Executive Jacques Faul on Thursday said that the BCCI has agreed to tour South Africa for three T20Is in August end but the BCCI treasurer disagreed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The senior BCCI official further said that BCCI won’t make any commitment to any country unless the government gives them nod for international travel.</p>

<p>"Right now, we can't even commit that we can tour Sri Lanka in July followed by (short T20 series) in Zimbabwe. Both these tours are part of the FTP programme and we are still not sure what the situation will be in two months, so how can we commit on South Africa tour?" Dhumal asked.</p>

<p>"As far as the BCCI is concerned we would certainly like an Indian to lead the global body and our president has credentials obviously. But again we haven't yet discussed it," Dhumal said.</p>

<p>"We will definitely play SA series but there should be riders. Is CSA with India on ICC policy matters? With Chris (Nenzani), you would want a full commitment on paper and then proceed.</p>

<p>"It's CSA which is desperate for a three-match T20. So they have to decide how they want to play it at the ICC," the veteran official said.&nbsp;</p>
