Israel has hoped India & China will resolve things in a "peaceful" way even as tensions rise between the two Asian neighbours.

Deputy Director-General of the Asia-Pacific Division of Israeli Foreign Ministry Gilad Cohen in response to a WION question said, "We have very good relations with India, we have good relations with China"

Adding, "We hope all things will be sorted out in peaceful ways and tension will reduce, this is what we desire".

Israel is in advance stage of negotiations with Free Trade Agreement with China and already has pact for specific goods with India.

Ties between India & Israel have grown in the last few years. Indian prime minister Narendra Modi visited Israel in July of 2017, the first-ever visit of Indian PM to the West Asian country which was followed by the visit of Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu the next year.

Asked, if more countries could establish ties with Israel, Cohen said, “We hope UAE breakthrough will be echoed" and "will open other relations who don't have ties with Israel".

In a major development last month, UAE became the first Gulf country to establish ties with Israel. This was followed by the first direct commercial flight between the 2 countries. UAE is the 3rd Arab country to recognize Israel after Egypt in 1979 and Jordan in 1994.

Pakistan's army is running two indoctrination camps built along the lines of Uighurs re-education camps of China for Baloch fighters in a bid to control the situation in its restive southwestern province of Balochistan. Pakistan's biggest province is dealing with its local insurgency over Islamabad's strong hand as locals say the resources are being drained the region.

What WION has learned is that the layout of the camps closely aligns with those run by Chinese authorities in its westernmost province of Xinjiang. The main objective of these clandestine camps is psychological, social and cultural conditioning of Baloch fighters and forcefully instil 'values' in them by "transforming them into law-abiding" citizens, a document seen by WION on the camps stated.

The document lists Pakistani studies, religious- patriotism and jihad as the key subjects at the camps and focus is to remove any remnants of Balochi nationalism. The camps run by Pakistani army extensively use mullahs or religious preachers especially those affiliated to Jamaat e Islami. Guests speakers are also invited to conduct guest lectures which include politicians like Mubeen Khan Khilji and Nawabzada Gohram Bugti and Jamaat e Islami's Maulana Abdul Haq Hashmi.

Xinjiang has been in the news as Chinese authorities try to rein in the largely Muslim local population in a forceful manner via government-backed camps.

The idea of such indoctrination camps was suggested by Lt Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa former director-general of the media wing of the Pakistani army. He was in the eye of the storm recently as his name cropped up in shady financial dealings.

The duration of camp education is around three months. Currently, the camps are being run by Major Gen Irfan Ahmad Malik of GOC 41 Division. He succeeded Major Gen Abid Latif Khan on October 19, 2019.

Rajnath Singh is currently in Russia for Shanghai Co-operation Organisation (SCO) defence ministers meeting. The eventful visit to Moscow saw a meeting between Indian and Chinese defence ministers amidst the Line of Actual Control or LAC row. The meet came at the request of the Chinese side.

Iran is an observer country of the SCO grouping. The visit to Iran is significant in view of India considering the country as part of its extended neighbourhood and also key to connectivity projects. The Chabahar port project where India has berths provides connectivity to Afghanistan and Central Asian countries.

This is also the first visit to Iran by any Indian minister since the killing of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps's Qasem Soleimani by American earlier this year.

LAC tensions: Indian, Chinese defence ministers to meet in Moscow shortly

Pakistan is keen to list a Hindu name at the United Nations Security Council terror list even as its bid to list 4 Indians have failed earlier this week. Islamabad was keen to list 2 Indian nationals Gobinda Patnaik, and Angara Appaji as UN terrorists but the bid was rejected earlier this week after the country failed to provide any evidence.

UN Security council sources said, "Their main aim was to bring at least one Hindu name so that they can sustain their narrative of Hindu terror."

"Imran Khan's comments are self-explanatory, especially the language he has been using."

Pakistani PM has been trying to raise the bogey of so-called "Hindu terror" as part of domestic propaganda, and the action by Pakistan at UN is seen in that line. The recent actions look like "no-cost" endeavour for Pakistan because they can randomly give few names and continue their propaganda for a year or so. It must be remembered that Pakistan has the largest number of its nationals listed as International terrorists by the UN.

India is expected to remain vigilant as one slip up and some innocent Indian will end up in the list, his name being sullied by Pakistan. The thinking in the Indian establishment is that already Islamabad has sullied the names of 4 innocent people for no reason but to further their propaganda. Earlier, it attempted to list 2 other Indians-- Venumadhav Dongara, Ajoy Mistry as a terrorist, but the bid failed.

What is in India's favour is the United Nations Security Council's 1267 committee works on the basis of evidence. In particular, the western countries, especially those that blocked the listing, look a lot into actual evidence.

The listing this week was blocked by 5 UNSC countries--UK, USA, France, Germany and Belgium after no evidence was found to substantiate Pakistan's claim. UNSC members gave Pakistan time to provide evidence but Islamabad could not provide it.
